4. Demon's Tilt Achievement Mop-UpUpdate notes

Multipliers

During your winning round for the ‘WIZARD MODE' achievement, you most likely will have played a single game for around 30 minutes. During this time, your multiplier (by going to the blacksmith) is likely to have seen some nice digits already. If not, it isn't difficult to get them later in the game. In the lowest tier, Tier 1, slightly above the bottom left flipper, there is a ‘blacksmith’. It is located just above the claw and the spinners and is indicated with a hammer. This multiplier creator has a tiny green counter which will indicate with how much ‘Mx’ (multiplier for short (?)) you will earn when you visit this blacksmith with any of your balls. To reach the blacksmith, you can either try to visit by it directly by hitting your ball with one of the lowest flippers in the lowest tier and by aiming at this spot (try aiming around the half circle around the claw), or go for the easier approach; hit a portal with the same hammer above. These portals will bring your ball directly to the blacksmith and automatically add the multiplier from the green counter onto your ball.

You can always look at your Mx counter in the bottom left of your screen. It is located above your current score and to the right of ‘ball count’. Once it reaches a value of 25, you will unlock:

Apprentice Blacksmith

25 Mx earned on single ball.

Apprentice Blacksmith

Once your Mx reaches a value of 50, you will unlock:

Master Blacksmith

50 Mx earned on single ball.

And once your Mx reaches a value of 75, you will unlock:

Legendary Blacksmith

75 Mx earned on single ball.

If you manage to get your multiplier up to the maximum of 99 and haven’t unlocked the 1,000,000,000 points achievement yet, then this might be the time to do so! Also, all Mx earned during several games adds up towards a final achievement based on this multiplier. Once you have reached 'the number of the beast' (being '666' for all that aren't fans of metal band Iron Maiden (which is also an achievement in this game)) worth of Mx, you will unlock:

Tilting

As you'll have likely tilted the table quite often to improve your performance, you might have tilted too much for the table to handle and spilled your ball. If you've tilted the table too much while playing with your third ball, you have already unlocked the following achievement. If not, it is quite easily to achieve anyways. Play the game until you have drained your first two balls. I would suggest on keeping your third ball on the launcher if you are going for this achievement. Instead of pressing cn_A to launch the ball, tilt the table (by using cn_LS or cn_RS) until the chained skull on the bottom-right of your screen becomes covered in a red colour. Then wiggle your sticks some more and your third ball will also go down the drain, unlocking:

Mini-Bosses in Tier 1

During your playthrough, you may have noticed some larger creatures in Tier 1 that you could hit several times with your ball to make them disappear and have another creature appear. If you've followed this walkthrough and have reached the Wizard Mode, you may have unlocked some of these achievements already. If not, they are relatively easy and in the worst case only need some grinding to get the number of kills. You can look at your amount of kills at any time by pressing cn_guide and scrolling down to the game you are playing (Demon’s Tilt) in this case. Press cn_start and go to the ‘official club’. Here you can see your (un)locked achievements, but also your stats. The ones you will be looking for are the amount of Hermits killed, Eyeballs killed, Skeletons killed, Shubs killed and Homonculi killed.

When starting a new game, you will notice this big purple-coloured guy doing some magic in the middle of Tier 1. This is the hermit (hence the letters of the rituals performed in this tier) and during the time he is present there is another thing you can do. By hitting your ball in a way that it will curve around the claw above the bottom left flipper, you will spawn the so called ‘eyeballs’. They will circle around the hermit and usually come in groups of three. Hitting them won’t be very difficult, as hitting the hermit will likely spin your ball around this purple magician, hitting most eyeballs in the same time.

Eyeballs

Once you have hit 100 of these eyeballs, this achievement will unlock:

Eyeball Expunger

100 Eyeballs slain

Eyeball Expunger

When aiming for the eyeballs you are likely to hit the hermit quite as often. Be aware that the projectiles he fires (either pink or yellow/golden of colour) may change the path of your ball in a negative way when these are hit. It will take somewhere around five hits for this creature to be slain, adding up to your total of hermits killed.

Hermit

When this counter reaches 25 kills (or around 50 if you haven’t updated your game recently), you will unlock another achievement:

Master of Hermits

25 Hermits slain

Master of Hermits
Offline Mode - These achievements require play in game modes that do not necessitate a connection to any online services.Single Player - These achievements can be obtained by a single player.Cumulative + - These achievements are obtained by repeatedly performing the same action or set of actions over time.Buggy - - These achievements may unlock after the requirements have been met or not at all.

Each time you will kill a hermit, you will also spawn another portal between the bottom two flippers in Tier 1. I strongly suggest you cradle your ball on one of the bottom flippers (after killing the hermit) for about two seconds, before letting go and allowing your ball to teleport itself along the path of the Gore Demons. Why this is a very pleasant way to approach the next situation will become quite clear after a while. After the hermit disappears, seven new creatures will take his place. These creatures, called ‘skeletons’ (maybe because they are skeletons?), can be quite a pain.

Skeleton

They seem to have some defence when hitting them from underneath. This is quite unfortunate, as it is very likely that your ball will be below then after getting rid of the hermit. Skeletons can best be hit from either the side or from above, however getting your ball there can be quite difficult as they take up almost all the space for getting there.

When the skeletons spawn and you allow your ball to reach the portal between the flippers, your ball will hit several skeletons on the left side of their line-up. Teleporting through them will also damage them and this will get rid of the first few skeletons. On the bright side, if you used the portal your ball will be rolling towards the Tier 2 flippers from the left side, meaning that if you don't raise these flippers, your ball will hit the skeletons on the right side from above, getting rid of them immediately. At this point I suggest (mis)using the tilt option quite a bit to hit as many skeletons as possible. It is not very difficult to get rid of all seven of them by using this technique. Each skeleton you get rid of from the table will add up to your total. Once the value of ‘skeletons killed’ reaches 100, you will unlock another achievement:

Army of Darkness

100 skeleton soldiers slain

Army of Darkness

After making sure all the skeletons are no longer with you on the table, the next creature you need to hit with your balls will appear. It is quite big and has a purple/pinkish colour. It is not very difficult to hit, but it can also hit you quite easily.

Shub Calimari

Each time you hit this creature, a ‘Shub Calimari’, it will fire projectiles at you. I suggest that each time you hit this funny-looking creature and your ball ends up below it, cradle it until all the projectiles are gone from your screen. Remember that these projectiles act as a solid. It will be just another object that will bounce your ball away from the direction it was heading for, making its trajectory unpredictable. After about five hits it will disappear and adding to the achievement counter. Even though the description of the achievement states that you have to reach ‘25 Shub Calimari slain’, the achievement does not seem to unlock until you reach a total of 50. Anyways, going for a completion with a nice ratio, simply keep playing until it unlocks:

I Am Providence

25 Shub Calimari slain.

I Am Providence

After each Shub Calimari that was not strong enough to resist your balls, a new creature will appear and you will get another ball on the table. This creature will have three heads, of which all heads need to be hit several times. This creature is called the ‘Insane Homonculi’.

Insane Homonculus

In the Latin language the plural form of a word ending with -us gets changed to an -i. A good example of this is the spiked plant we all know from western-movies: one cactus and three cacti. The description of the achievement is somewhat of a joke on this one plural-form. ‘You Say Homonculus, I Say Homonculi‘, which could also be interpreted in multiple ways, as it is one creature with three different heads.

Anyways, as this is not a lesson on the Latin language but an achievement walkthrough, make sure to hit each head several times for them to explode/deflate (?) and repeat this process 50 times to unlock this achievement:

When you have killed this one creature with three heads (avoiding the plural form at all cost!), a final creature will appear. It looks somewhat like a combination between a wolf and a goat and this would also make sense on this satanic pinball-table.

Goatwolf

Just like with the previous creatures in the bottom tier, simply hit it enough times to show dominance. This creature doesn’t have a counter as going for 1000 Gamerscore, slaying just one is enough to unlock the achievement:

Victory Laps

Final Miniboss slain

Victory Laps

After these five different creatures in the bottom tier, the hermit and your other friends will reappear, however its colour scheme will be slightly different.

Scorpio Multiball

The final achievement we have not yet covered clearly in this walkthrough is for unlocking the ‘Scorpio Multiball’. It has been briefly mentioned in the description on how to get the letter ‘I’ of the word ZODIAC in Tier 3, but just as a way to mention that during this ritual you would also make progress towards the achievement.

Every once in a while on Tier 3, there will be a blue cube floating on the highest point of the outer orbit. Hitting this cube (by hitting your ball to make it follow this outer orbit) will unlock one of the spots in the wheel directly to the left of the lion (at the same height as the snake).

At this point, aim your ball towards this open spot of this wheel to ‘lock your ball’. This will not drop your ball count, as seen on the bottom left of your screen.

Now you can launch a new ball by using the plunger. If you manage to lock a total of three balls in this wheel, a pink cube will appear in between the flippers on the bottom of Tier 2.

When you hit this cube, the balls will unlock from the wheel and the achievement for unlocking the Scorpio Multiball will unlock:

The Eighth House

Scorpio Multiball unlocked.

The Eighth House

If you have been following this walkthrough you should have gotten enough tips and tricks to get most of the achievements without too much hassle. Please do not forget to thank the author if this has been of any help for you! :)
