Divekick Addition Edition +
Exalted Entity
Welcome to my walkthrough for Divekick Addition Edition +. In this walkthrough, I will be taking you through the game in a way that is geared towards getting the achievements in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
Divekick Addition Edition + is an oversimplified fighting game, where instead of learning the vast plethora of combos you need for most fighting games, this game only requires you to have to learn two buttons. Furthermore, you choose which two buttons are the ones that are the controls for you, and you can change them through the options menu at any time.
So with that being said, let's flip the page and continue.
Okay, so this game being overly simple as it is, there is not much in need of being explained. So here are some important highlights.
- You only need to play the original 13 characters, Johnny Gat is a later addition, and is not part of any achievements.
- You need to use the YOLO gem in one of the story playthroughs. It is recommended to use it in one of the 13, but it is not recommended to use it until you have won at least 10 or so stories.
- The YOLO gem automatically starts each match in the story with your character having zero wins, and your opponent having four wins. This is important to note because in Divekick, you need to win five rounds to win. So in the story with the YOLO gem, you can't get hit.
- Oh, did I forget to mention, in Divekick, 1 hit = K.O. So whoever lands their kick first, wins.
- Also, you can jump on to someone's foot and you will still lose because he "kicked" you
- While you actually need to play the 1000 VS matches, you can simple quit out as soon as you load into the match for the 2000 Ranked Matches
- For the 1000 VS matches, you need 2 controllers. If you can turbo them, even better.
This walkthrough will be assuming you have a partner or a 2nd Xbox One console helping you get these achievements. This walkthrough and all times recorded will not be assuming that your partner wants the achievements, only that they are there solely to help you.
Let's flip the page to continue to the story walkthrough.
Let's get started.
Launch the game and, at the main screen, press and then to get to the options. In here, choose whatever settings you like: choose the two buttons that you want to use for your diving and kicking (you can change them later on), set the AI difficulty to "Cakewalk" and rounds to three. Save your changes and, from the previous selection, choose Story and press . Note: At the time of writing this guide, Cakewalk and three rounds are currently glitched and will not work - but it's worth doing this in the hope that they've patched it by the time you play it.
Now you can either pick any character you want, or you can go in the default order if you think you will have trouble keeping track of who you beat the story with. There will be no indication that you have beat the story with a certain character. Pick your character and press to finalise your choice. After that, you will need to select which gem you want to use. I would recommend not using the YOLO gem just yet because you still need to learn the game mechanics and get a feel for the game. The other gems give you 10% Dive (jumping up), 10% Kick (how long you stay in the air while attacking / how far you go), and 10% meter (how long it takes for your special to fill up). Certain characters have special affinities for being better kickers, divers, or meters, so you can use these gems to balance or you can use them to make the already good stat into an over powered stat. Press to finalise your choice. Finally, you will be asked to choose the colour of your clothes. After you have chosen, press and the story mode will officially begin. You can read the story, or skip it with the button.
There will be 9 opponents to go through and 5 rounds to win - and more to play if you lose a round. It is not best two out of three or anything of that sort. You have to win all 5. Also, as of writing this guide, the settings for "Cakewalk" and 3 rounds do not work. They might implement a later fix, but that is not available right now. So you are facing them on regular difficulty, and playing all 5 rounds.
No real strategy is needed, you either have to be really precise for when you kick / dive, or you have to get lucky. Don't worry, even if you fail you start at the same opponent. You don't have to start all over.
After you beat all 9 opponents, you will have
Then continue playing through the other 12 characters. Remember, Johnny Gat is not one of the characters needed for the achievement so playing as him isn't required. When you get to playing as Dr. Shoals, you should equip the YOLO gem. Many of you might be wondering why not use the gem when playing as S-kill, but that is because when you play with him, he is actually quite weak. His only good power is the super and, unlike when you fight him, he will fill it up slowly, not have it maxed out all the time. Dr. Shoals on the other hand has a really nice dive / kick that lets her stay in the air, making it feel like she can levitate.
So, once you beat the stories of all 13 characters, and have the YOLO gem on a character (Dr. Shoals recommended), you will obtain
and
Plot MattersBeat story mode with all thirteen of the original Divekick characters.
That's it for story mode.
Let's move on to Ranked matches. Flip the page to continue.
Alright, so this one is going to take a while, but it is not going to be that painful. I will explain later. For now, let's clear out some fast achievements.
Before we do so though, I am assuming in the story mode you practiced / did some headshots (kicked the head of the opponent, leaving them concussed the next round by having a yellow bar in the shoe bar). If you did not, then practice before you start this.
Okay, so go to Online, and then to Ranked matches.
Not too many people play this game, so you can go ahead and match make with your friend (or 2nd Xbox One) quite easily.
Have your friend pick Jefaily, and you will pick Dr. Shoals. The reason your friend picks Jefaily is because each time he wins, his head gets bigger, so a better target for headshots. You pick Dr. Shoals because it is easiest to go far / control her without making extra moves that unnecessarily fill the kickfactor bar.
Neither of you will be using the YOLO gem. Have Jefaily pick the Meter 10% gem, and you will pick the kick or dive 10% gem. Choose whichever you think is better.
Now, Jefaily will beat Dr. Shoals 3 times (practice doing headshots now, because you need to headshot Dr. Shoals the fourth time) and also make sure to build up his special meter so that he is in kickfactor (the shoe at the bottom will fill with a red bar, when it is maxed, it will do a short animation and then the red bar will start depleting, while it is depleting, you are in kickfactor and can do special moves by hitting both the dive and the kick buttons). In the 4th round, Jefaily will once again beat Dr. Shoals but he will do it with a headshot, and he will only do so once his kickfactor is one kick away from activating (red bar should be almost maxed).
Now Dr. Shoal (you), will start winning. You are going to start the 5th round of the game concussed. Have Jefaily move towards you and also activate his kickfactor. You need to make sure you do not do too many unnecessary kicks, as you do not want to activate kickfactor yourself. When Jefaily is in kickfactor, and you are still concussed, headshot him and you will obtain
Reversal of FortuneKnock out an opponent who is in Kickfactor while you are concussed in a ranked match.
Now you are going to headshot Jefaily each time for the next 4 rounds and win the game, but you are going to let Jefaily get in position so that you have to do less moving and avoid filling the kickfactor too much. After you win the match, you will get
Choked OutChoke detect an opponent in a ranked match.
and
Not A FactorWin a ranked match without activating Kickfactor.
Now, using the same characters, search for each other and this time you need to equip the YOLO gem. Put it on and win 5 rounds without losing even one, and you will get
Now, just for simplicity, have the same criteria, only once again search and this time do not put on the YOLO gem for either player. Quickly win all 5 rounds without losing any and you will get
Dat TripleGet a triple S ranking in a ranked match.
and
Finally, you can either help your partner out now with these achievements (you need to play 2000 Ranked matches, so why not, right?) or if you are trying to save time, you and your partner at the same time can go for the 2000 ranked matches played.
You both just search (doesn't matter at this point if you find a random, but better to have a partner as the randoms won't play for too long). As soon as you get to the character selection screen, hit and then quit out. This will give both you and your partner 1 match played. If for any reason at some point your stats glitch on you, immediately quit the entire game by hitting , and then going down to quit using and press on quit. Relaunch the game and all your stats should be back. If you play a game while your stats are reset, it will over write the stats and you'll need to start all over again on your progress.
After playing / quitting out of 500 matches, you will get
and 1500 matches after that, you will get
Alright, that's it for ranked matches. Flip the page and we can get the last achievement of the game finished in local versus mode.
Alright, this is the last achievement that we need in this game.
For this achievement we need to play in Versus, local mode. You need 2 controllers for this. It is better if you have Turbo controllers but, if not, you can still do this relatively quickly. Also, make sure to have the YOLO gem on both characters to speed up the process. That's about it. Play 1000 matches, doesn't matter if you win or lose (so if you bring a friend over, both of you can sign into legitimate profiles and get the achievement at the same time).
Not an easy 1000, nor a fast one, but it's not the longest or skill based grind either.
