3. Doritos Crash Course Story walkthroughUpdate notes

WARNING! - Updated!

Please note that there is a chance that the City Lights DLC will glitch the "Going for Gold" and "Sore wa kantan desu" achievements. The above achievements may not unlock properly if you have the DLC installed before attempting them. If this is the case for you, you may need to delete all of your saved data and/or save to a different device (USB, for example).

As of 19th August 2013, there is a patch for those with the DLC. The potentially affected achievements should now unlock as intended.

U.S.A Levels

Right so first up is "Safety First", as it's the first level of the game it's incredibly basic especially compared to later levels. For the most part you'll just be learning the game mechanics but you shouldn't have any problem getting a Gold medal for this level after a couple of attempts. To score a Gold medal on this level you'll need to beat the time of 45 seconds, if you have any difficulty beating this then refer to the video below.

Next up we have "Learning The Ropes", to score the Gold medal on this level you'll need to beat the time of 1 minute 5 seconds. If you need help beating the time check the video out below for a great path.

Right now we have the first chance to get an achievement! For this achievement you need to swing between ropes 10 times. Fortunately there's an easy way to get this achievement that requires little to no effort. During the third U.S.A. level which is named "Jungle Gym Hijinx" you'll come across 2 ropes that are very close together. Jump on one of them and swing back and forth to build up some momentum. Once you feel you've built up enough, jump to another rope and then repeat the process - back jump back to the rope you started on... keep doing this until you unlock the achievement. Check the video out below for a visual demonstration!

Once you have that achievement out of the way you can restart the race and focus on getting the Gold medal. To do that you'll need to complete the level in under 1 minute 15 seconds.

Now we're on U.S.A 4, otherwise known as "On The Rebound". You only have to worry about getting the Gold medal on this race and to do that you'll need to complete the level in under 1 minute 25 seconds.

The next race on the list is "Nothing But Air" and we'll be unlocking a few achievements on this one, the first of which requires you to fly from fan to fan 20 times. Check the video below to see exactly what you need do to unlock this achievement with relative ease.

Once you've done that restart the level and go for the next achievement, for this one you'll need to get smashed by 3 hammers in a row. At the start of the level there's a conveyor belt that will pull you backwards, work your way to the end of the belt and let yourself get smashed by the last hammer. From there it's just a case of hoping the other hammers smash you as the conveyor pulls you back, check the video below for a visual demonstration!

Finally with those 2 achievements out of the way you'll need to restart the match again and race through it properly. To get the Gold medal on this race you'll need to finish the race in under 1 minute 20 seconds, check the below video for tips if you need to shave a few seconds off your time. Once you've completed this race you'll unlock the next achievement which is for finishing all of the U.S.A. levels.

Europe Levels

Welcome to Europe. You'll notice the levels will start getting harder but with a little practice you shouldn't have too much trouble with any of them. Waiting to welcome you is an achievement! For this achievement you'll need to bounce between trampolines 12 times consecutively. There are a few levels throughout the game where you can get this but Europe 1: "Slip Slide Ride" is the first chance you'll have to get the achievement and arguably the easiest. Follow the below video to see exactly how to get this achievement... If you find that you're struggling to connect to the higher trampolines make sure you're aiming for the middle when you jump on them as this allows you to jump higher.

Once you've unlocked that achievement it's just a case of restarting the race and getting a Gold on it. To get a Gold medal you'll need to complete the race in under 1 minute 30 seconds, if you need help shaving a few seconds off check out the video below.

Next up is "Conveyance" and we're getting an achievement on this level too. At the start of the level you'll see a bunch of red conveyor belts, run toward them, jump onto them and continue running. Before the end of the first set you should trip and fall and unlock the achievement. It might take a few attempts but this is by far the easiest place in the game to unlock it. Check the below video to see exactly what you need to do.

When you've done that restart the race and Gold medal it, you'll need to complete the race in under 1 minute 20 seconds for the Gold medal.

From here we're just aiming to get a Gold medal on the 3 remaining levels in Europe. Next up is "Elevation" and you'll need to complete this level in under 1 minute 25 seconds for the Gold medal.

The next race is called "Shaky Footing" and you'll need to complete it in under 1 minute 20 seconds for the Gold medal.

And finally we have "Swinging In The Rain", you'll need to complete this level in under 1 minute 55 seconds for the Gold medal. This level can be very frustrating and will probably take several attempts to Gold medal, it's important to try and keep a cool head and stay calm because the more wound up you get the more likely you are to make silly mistakes. During the last stretch of the level don't get too ahead of yourself. If you jump early where the platform is covering the gap you risk being hit down into the water so take it slow. Check out the video below to see a few tips that might help you shave a few seconds off your time.

Once you've completed all of the races in Europe you'll unlock the next achievement.

Japan Levels

Japan is the last area of the game and these next 5 levels are definitely the most challenging of the game. That being said with practice combined with making use of the videos I've embedded for each level there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to Gold medal each of the levels.

The first level in this area is called "Rebounding Again" and you'll need to complete the race in under 1 minute 20 seconds.

The next level is called "Domou Arigatou" and you'll need to complete it in under 1 minute 15 seconds for the Gold medal.

Next up is the third level "Peak Performance". You need to complete this race in under 1 minute 45 seconds for the Gold medal.

Now the next level on the list is "Muzukashii Wheel" and there's an achievement for completing the level in under 1 minute 40 seconds which is 5 seconds quicker than the time needed for the Gold medal. With a little practice this achievement isn't that hard, it'll just take multiple attempts to do. Check the video out below for a visual demonstration on how to complete this race in under 1 minute 40 and unlock the achievement.

And here we are, the final race... for now. This race is called "Get Carter" and is remarkably easy for a final level. For the Gold medal you'll need to complete this level in under 1 minute 35 seconds.

Once you finish the last race in Japan you'll unlock the following achievement.

Now there's only 1 achievement left in the single player portion of the game and if you've been following the walkthrough and getting Gold medals on every level you'll have unlocked it already, if not then you'll need to go back through and get Gold on the levels you missed earlier. Once you've done that you'll unlock the next achievement (if you haven't done so already).

Note that the City Lights DLC includes easier levels for Japan. However, the DLC can glitch the achievement, so it is recommended that you complete the main game before downloading the DLC, or download the DLC before starting the main game.

Update: As of 19th August 2013, there is a patch for those with the DLC. The potentially affected achievements should now unlock as intended. You may also complete the new easier levels for the "Going for Gold" achievement.

Going Online!

Now all that's left is to play through every level again but this time online racing against a friend. This person will need to be on your friends list because the next achievement we're going for requires it. To unlock it you'll need to beat a player from your friends list in a race which is incredibly easy to do just take turns in the first 2 levels allowing each other to get the achievement.

And from there it's the home stretch, finish up every level from every area for the final achievement. Make sure that you actually complete the races properly though, if you choose to chicken out and skip ahead then that player that did that will null that level and need to complete that race online again. Once you finish the final level the last achievement will unlock!

Congratulations on completing the game! I'd like to take this final moment to thank TealPavelski and https://www.trueachievements.com/x+CmOn3y+x.htm for the videos used throughout this walkthrough.
