Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires
DW5 Empires is your basic Dynasty Warriors game with a little addition, you get to control an army.
For those of you who have not yet experienced a DW game, your in for a treat. For those of you who have, though, your in for the same exact game you have played before.
When you start this game you pick either one of several premade characters or create one for yourself. You can customize hair, face, armor, and weapons/movement types, which are also premade. You will not have the in-depth Bethesda-like character design that is a standard in games today.
As you go through the game your character will increase in strength and rank. Higher rank, the higher the limit of troops you can bring to battle. You will be able to hire officers who will also level up with you the more you play with them.Gameplay
The gameplay is simple. You have a map with the ancient territories of China on it, click a spot to attack, assign which officers come with you, and attack. You will fight alongside your army as your very own character and you will be able to send simple orders to your officers. Attack, hold, etc.Pros:
Some combos your character pulls off are pretty intense. It sticks to the default controls all Dynasty Warrior games have. When you level up your character you will feel unstoppable. Cons:
I can stand in the middle of the enemy army for 2 minutes before taking a single hit. Sometimes it is too easy. I once held a castle off against an invading army of 33k troops with only my character 0 troops and a few guard captains. Graphics
Released on the ps2. Port games, in my opinion, receive an F no matter what when it comes to graphics. This game has graphics that are less worthy than "Black" was for the original xbox.Replayability
Average. The game is decent in this area. And I replayed it twice before replaying again for achievements. I played as an officer of a premade empire first, then went back and made my own empire to conquer with.Achievements Attainability
These achievements are one long, but entertaining, grind. This game requires multiple play-throughs but you get a new experience everytime.
In one play-through you can get the following:
Just make sure you read the guide on the last achievement! That is 550 Gamerpoints in about 5-6 hours! Then the other achievements require just a quick run through.Sound
This is definitely the weakest part of the game. The characters will annoy THE HELL out of you. They constantly repeat: "I have taken this base!" "I have taken this base!" or some other small statement. Sum.
I like this game, but that is because I am a serious fan of the series. This is A GREAT game for achievements.
