EA SPORTS College Football 25 is a simple 15 achievement completion and will take the average player 5-15 hours to complete. In this game, most achievements can be completed offline solo/sim, but there are some achievements that require you to play and win against real opponents. Unlike some of the previous football games, you actually have to play the game.

In this guide, we will be reviewing the best ways to gain yards, the most efficient ways to sim to the playoffs and championship, and tips for playing against other players.

A Note About EA SPORTS COLLEGE FOOTBALL 25: Similar to many other multiplayer games, EA Sports College Football 25 will evolve over time. Rosters and team overalls will be updated throughout the college football season, and the Ultimate Team mode has seasonal content. This walkthrough was written during Season 1. If any such changes are significant from the perspective of unlocking achievements, this walkthrough will be updated accordingly. However, there may be minor details, in particular within the image and/or video content used, that become out-of-date over time. I will refresh the image and video content should it ever become significantly misleading or detrimental to the quality and accuracy of the walkthrough.

With all that out of the way, let's get started!

EA SPORTS College Football 25 - EA SPORTS College Football 25 Hints and Tips

EA ACCOUNT

To complete this game, you will have to connect an EA account to your Xbox Live account. Having an EA account is required to play online. This is annoying but can all be done in-game. After you've opened the game for the first time you shouldn't have to mess with it again.

DIFFICULTY

For this walkthrough, we will be setting the difficulty to "Freshman." I'd also recommend moving all of the difficulty sliders in your favor by going into the game settings and pushing all of the user sliders to 100 and all of the CPU sliders to 0. This can be easily reset by pressing cn_Y in the slider settings menu.

TEAM

For this walkthrough, we will be using THE Ohio State Buckeyes for "Play Now," "Dynasty," and "Road to the CFP" game modes.

Buckeyes

You can use any team for this walkthrough, but the Buckeyes have a fantastic defense, fast running backs and receivers, and a great offensive line. These factors will make a big difference when playing the game, especially when playing online.

PLAYS

At several points in the walkthrough, I will give play-call suggestions. They will be formatted like this:

Offense/DefenseConceptFormationPlay Name

Most plays listed will be in The Ohio State Buckeyes playbook, if you play as a different team (which will have a different playbook) these specific plays may be missing.

EA SPORTS College Football 25 - EA SPORTS College Football 25 Walkthrough

To earn every achievement in this game, you will have to play four different gamemodes:

  • Play Now

  • Ultimate Team

  • Dynasty

  • Road to the CFP

Starting with...

PLAY NOW

Every "Play Now" achievement can be earned in just a couple of games. For this walkthrough, I will be assuming you played four games to earn these achievements. It can be done in fewer than this, but it's simpler to explain this way.

You cannot earn these "Play Now" achievements if you simmed any part of the game.

Game 1: Ball State Cardinals @ The Ohio State Buckeyes

For this first game, you will be trying to get multiple achievements for passing and running the football. I separated this game into "Offense" and "Defense" sections. The strategies listed in these sections can be used for the rest of the game.

OFFENSE

When receiving the kickoff, run with the ball and stop behind the 20-yard line. Pressing cn_X will make your player fall to the ground, marking their spot. This will give you enough space for our first achievement, which will require you to go at least 80 yards passing for the touchdown. I'd recommend one of the following passing plays:

OffensePass Gun 5WR TrioAll Go
OffensePass Gun Doubles FlexAll Go
OffensePass Gun Trio Y-FlexVerticals

The goal is to score in one, giant 80-yard touchdown pass. It can be a short pass that the receiver runs all the way, or a huge pass that a receiver catches in stride. After your receiver has made the catch, you may need to make a few ballcarrier moves to evade defenders. You can juke out defenders by pressing cn_RSl or cn_RSr and can use a spin move by running forward and pressing cn_B. This may take a few attempts, but once you throw the 80-yard touchdown, "Big Play!" will unlock:

Big Play!

80+ yard passing TD

Big Play!

Your next offensive drive will need to start behind the 50-yard line. This will give you enough space for our next achievement, which will require you to rush at least 50 yards for the touchdown. I'd recommend one of the following rushing plays:

OffenseRun Singleback Wing X Off CloseWide Zone
OffenseRun Gun Spread FlexSpeed Option
OffenseRun Pistol Spread

HB Stretch

The goal is to score in one, long 50-yard rushing touchdown. These outside zone plays will help your ballcarrier get past the middle of the field, getting you to open space. Be sure to use ballcarrier moves if you need to. This may take a few attempts, but once you run the 50-yard touchdown, "Breakaway Speed" will unlock:

Breakaway Speed

50+ yard rushing TD

Breakaway Speed

Once you have these knocked out, there should be plenty of time left to get 200+ yards passing and 200+ yard rushing with the same player. We are going to do this with the active Quarterback. To generate more passing yards, I'd recommend using these plays:

OffensePass Gun Doubles FlexFK FL Screen Wheel
OffensePass Gen Spread FlexMesh Post
OffensePass Gun 5WR TrioShock Slot Option
OffensePass Gun Double FlexMesh Y Corner
OffensePass Gun Spread Y-FlexZ Spot

To get rushing yards as the QB, you can either scramble (run with the QB during a pass play by holding cn_RT) or you can rush in a designed "option" play. Scrambling can be done with any of the plays listed above, for option plays I'd recommend:

OffenseRun Gun Wing Slot WKSpeed Option
OffenseRun Gun Trio HB WKSpeed Option
OffenseRun Gun Tackle OverSpeed Option
OffenseRun Gun Spread FlexSpeed Option
OffenseRun Gun Wing Slot WKBuck Sweep Read OPT

This achievement will require you to get over 200 yards in each category. If you get exactly 200 yards, the achievement will not pop, you will need to get at least one more yard. Player stats can be checked in the pause menu. Once you have over 200 yards in each category, "Dual Threat" will unlock:

Dual Threat

200+ rush yards and 200+ pass yards with same player in same game

Dual Threat

DEFENSE

There aren't any achievements tied to the defensive side that we need to worry about yet, but playing defense will become important part of the game later on in the walkthrough. I'd recommend sticking with the recommended plays the game gives you. I would recommend using zone defense almost exclusively, as man defense is very bad in this game. Some popular plays the game gives you that I would recommend are:

DefenseZone4-2-5 OverCover 3 Match
DefenseZone4-2-5Cover 4 Quarters
DefenseZoneNickel OverCover 3 Sky
DefenseZoneNickel 3-3 MintCover 3 Match
DefenseZoneDime RushCover 4 Quarters

On defense, I'd recommend using a defensive lineman if you are new to football games. Getting sacks on the QB will help your team and may even cause turnovers.

Once the game ends and the outro cinematic is playing, "Let's Go!" will unlock:

Let's Go!

Complete any matchup via Play Now across all 134 teams

Let's Go!

Game 2: Ball State Cardinals @ Oregon St. Beavers

For this game, you will play as the Oregon St. Beavers trying to get a turnover against the Ball State Cardinals.

While playing on defense, press cn_RS and turn the "Strip ball" setting to aggressive. When the opponent has thrown the ball in the air, press cn_B to become the closest defender and press cn_Y to make a play on the football. After you've recovered a fumble or caught an interception, you'll get to see an impressive chainsaw celebration and "It's a Turnover!" will unlock:

It's a Turnover!

Force a turnover with any team with unique turnover tradition

It's a Turnover!

After this achievement unlocks, you can exit the game.

Game 3: Michigan Wolverine @ The Ohio State Buckeyes

For this game, you will play as The Ohio State Buckeyes to beat the Michigan Wolverines on the last play of the game. While starting the game, make sure to move the quarter lengths to "1 minute." This will make unlocking this achievement much faster and allow you to start again if you have to.

Rivalry game settings

In the first half, prevent the other team from scoring any points. When you have possession on offense, press cn_RS and set the tempo to "Chew Clock." Run the football but be sure not to score, keeping the score 0-0 going into halftime. In the second half, prevent Michigan from scoring again, and move your offense close to the end zone. You'll need to manage the clock, which may require using timeouts by pressing cn_back. Try to get yourself within 2 or 3 yards of the endzone with 2 seconds left. Once you're in position, I'd recommend one these plays:

OffenseRunSingleback Wing X OFF Close 26 DUO
OffensePassGun 5WR TrioStick
OffenseRunGoal Line Normal Power O

Once you score a touchdown with no time left and the outro cinematic is playing, "Unbelievable Finish" will unlock:

Unbelievable Finish

Score in a TD in rivalry game at home to win on last play of the game

Unbelievable Finish

Game 4: Ball State Cardinals @ [Download Team]

For this game, you will be playing as a team from the "Download Center." Before starting a "Play Now" game, exit to the main menu and tab over to the "Create and Share" section. Go to the "Download Center" and download any school. Any team will work for this achievement, I chose "McDonalds University" by LOGANPJR.

After you've downloaded a team, exit the "Download Center" and head to "Play Now." Hold cn_RT, scroll down to "Team Builder" and play with your custom team. Shortly after the game starts, "From the Community" will unlock:

From the Community

Play a game with any custom school from the Download Center

From the Community

After this achievement unlocks, you can exit the game.

ULTIMATE TEAM

Jumping into the Ultimate Team game mode, the game will show you a couple prompts and you'll open a pack (to try and trick you into buying more lol). Once you get to the Ultimate Team main menu, "It all Starts Here" will unlock:

It All Starts Here

Start your Ultimate Team Journey

It All Starts Here

If this achievement doesn't unlock right away, quit to main menu and re-enter Ultimate Team and it should pop.

After this, head over to the "Challenges" tab.

UT Challenges Cropped

You need to complete 10 Ultimate Team challenges total to unlock the next achievement. Any 10 Ultimate Team challenges will do, but I'd recommend playing the "Ultimate Team 101" challenges, as they are very easy and short. Once 10 total challenges are completed, "Challenge Accepted" will unlock:

Challenge Accepted

Complete 10 Challenges in Ultimate Team

Challenge Accepted

DYNASTY

Jumping into the Dynasty game mode, select "Start" and choose "Single Player." Select "Default Roster," choose The Ohio State Buckeyes as your school, and select "Head Coach" as your role. You can either create a new coach or choose the default coach, Brian Burns. Once you've signed a contract and arrived in the Dynasty menu, scroll down to advance and tab over to "Week 15," using cn_right.

Sim-Week15

Once you've simmed to Week 15 of the season, tab over to "CFB" with cn_RB, scroll down and select "Heisman Watch." Note the five teams with Heisman candidates, we will be using the coach for each of these teams to get the "Heisman Moment" achievement. The five teams with Heisman candidate in my Dynasty were: the Oregon Ducks, the Pittsburgh Panthers, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Georgia Bulldogs, and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Heisman Candidates

To create more User teams, tab over to "Dynasty Central" and select "Members." Press cn_Y, choose to create a new member with one of the team(s) that have the Heisman candidate, choose Head coach as your role, new or default coach, sign your contract, and repeat for each team.

Once each team is created, tab over to "Dynasty Central," select "Members" and switch back to The Ohio State Buckeyes. Advance week to "Bowl Games."

The Heisman winner will be announced. This player should be one of the teams you created earlier. Switch to the team with the Heisman winner and "Heisman Moment" will unlock:

Heisman Moment

Win the Heisman Trophy

Heisman Moment

If someone else somehow won the Heisman that wasn't on one of the five teams you made, make another dynasty and try again.

At this point, The Ohio State Buckeyes should be invited to play in the College Football Playoff.

If the Buckeyes (or any other team you created for the "Heisman Moment" achievement) didn't make the playoff, make another dynasty and try again.

Making the playoffs, "Playoff Bound" will unlock:

Playoff Bound

Earn a spot in the College Football Playoff

Playoff Bound

I'd recommend playing a little bit of each playoff game, and simming only after you have a comfortable lead. To sim the game, press cn_start and scroll down to "Super Sim," select "Jump Ahead," and select what part of the game your want to sim to.

Do this for each game in the College Football Playoff. After winning the College Football Championship and the outro cinematic is playing, "Last One Standing" will unlock:

Last One Standing

Win the College Football National Championship

Last One Standing

ROAD TO THE CFP

Finishing off the walkthrough, head over to the "Road to the CFP."

"Road to the CFP" is the ranked, online mode in EA College Football 25. I'd recommend using The Ohio State Buckeyes, as you should be familiar with their playbook at this point if you've been following along. After you complete your first online game, win or lose, "Shall We Play A Game" will unlock:

Shall we play a game?

Start your Road to the College Football Playoff

Shall we play a game?

The next achievement will require you to play as a lower tier team and beat a high tier team. The Ohio State Buckeyes are a Tier 1 team, so you will have to play as a different to earn this achievement. I'd recommend using the Oklahoma Sooners as they are a very good Tier 2 team. To ensure you play against a Tier 1 team as a Tier 2/3 team, before you select "Find Opponent," adjust your search settings to "Tier 1."

search settings

Some plays from the Oklahoma playbook I like are:

OffensePass

Gun Trips TE Offset

Shock H Option
OffensePass Gun Y Trips WKMesh
OffensePass Gun Spread DBL FlexMesh
OffensePass Gun Trips TE OffsetLevel Sail
OffensePass Gun Trips TE Offset X Under
OffensePass Gun Trips TE OffsetVerticals
OffenseRun Gun Doubles Y Off WKCounter Y
OffenseRun Gun WideSpeed Option
OffenseRun Gun Wide Slot RightSpeed Option
OffenseOptionGun Y Off Trips RPO Read Y Flat

Once you beat a Tier 1 team while playing as a Tier 2 team, "What an Upset" will unlock:

What an Upset

Defeat an opponent with higher Tier

What an Upset

This achievement can also be unlocked by playing as a Tier 3 team against a Tier 1 or Tier 2 team.

The hardest achievement in the game is "Moving on Up." Your goal for this achievement is to earn enough points to pass the "Top 78 Promoted" line on the graph seen below. While playing as a Tier 1 team, such as The Ohio State Buckeyes, each win will net you 14 points. Playing as a Tier 2 or Tier 3 team and defeating a Tier 1 team will net you even more points. On average, you will have to win 4-6 games to pass the "Top 78 Promoted" threshold.

Road to CFP

Since you will be playing, I won't be able to give you a step-by-step guide to win each game, but I can give you some advice that has brought me success.

  1. Don't be afraid to punt. Lot of players online will go for every 4th down conversion, even in their own territory. I wouldn't recommend it. Early in the game, punt the football when inside your own territory, you will get the football back.

  2. Don't quit if you're down. In this game, scoring is fast. If you are down 14-0 in the first quarter, don't quit. Your opponent could throw a pick or fumble, getting you right back into the game.

  3. Don't play Man Coverage. Lots of players online love running crossing routes and drag routes, and they will beat man coverage most times. Play zone defense, specifically Cover 3, Cover 4, or Cover 6.

  4. Run the football. The Buckeyes have a great offensive line and running backs. Running the football, while slower than passing, can help you maintain control of the game. Lots of opponents are impatient, and when they get the football back, they may be more likely to make a mistake while trying to score fast.

  5. Get turnovers. I've played 20+ Road to CFP regular season games, in at least 15 of those games, the opponent left immediately after throwing an interception. Your opponent quitting gives you a win.

  6. Don't "Press", play "Inside". While on defense, if you press cn_Y you will be given coverage options. Do not use cn_LSd "Press" coverage, you will get burned by a receiver going deep. Instead, use cn_RSl "Inside" coverage. Most players will use lots of crossing routes to try and go deep, playing the Inside coverage will help prevent that.

Press coverage

After your 10-game season is over and if you passed the "Top 78 Promoted" threshold, "Moving on Up" will unlock:

Moving on Up

Advance to Freshman in Road to the College Football Playoff

Moving on Up

If you played well enough and won enough games to pass the "Top 8 Playoff" threshold, you will get to play in the College Football Playoff bracket. After your last playoff game, win or lose, this achievement will unlock.
