Hello! Welcome to the EA SPORTS UFC 4 walkthrough. This is the 4th installment in EA SPORTS UFC and is definitely the quickest completion in the series. 25 out of the 27 achievements can be completed offline and on easy mode. We do however have 2 online achievements that require strategy and a bit of skill. If you are brand new to fighting games, I would definitely recommend that you take time in career to learn the basics of the game.
This installment is probably the most lackluster in the franchise, but who can't find a little enjoyment in a walk-off KO?
Career mode takes around 7-10 hours from my experience. The online portion does depends on your skill and who you are matched against. These can be challenging since one achievement requires you to win 4 fights in a row and the other requires 6 wins in a row, but we'll get there so don't worry too much. I will say, for the online portion it is important to learn how to move on the ground and know when and when not to use submissions and shoot for takedowns.
One important thing before we start off. Change your grapple assist to Legacy, in order to have more control on the ground. (Settings > Gameplay > Grapple Assist > change to Legacy)
Ok, let's start off in career mode. Create any character you want. Weight class is up to you, although I do recommend that you do not chose heavyweight. This is because there is one achievement where you must obtain GOAT status in the UFC. This is accomplished by breaking UFC records and one of the accolades to complete for this is to become a 2 weight division champion, which is not an option available to you if you chose to be a heavyweight. If you really want to be a heavyweight, that's fine but you will spend more time in career mode. For your archetype, I would recommend a striker type like a kickboxer instead of a wrestler or grappler. Reason being is that on easy mode, career mode is exceptionally easy and you can still easily submit opponents within the first round without having high level submissions and wrestling.
I'm going to go ahead and discuss “The Legend“ achievement. This achievement isn't hard at all on easy mode, but requires around 30-35 fights to earn. Keep track of these goals and you will easily get this
You must achieve 6/12 performance goals to reach and 2/4 promotional goals for the achievement. In bold are the goals that I achieved to become GOAT.
They are as follows:
Performance:
-15 Submissions
-9 Fight of the Night Bonuses
-12 Knockouts
-17 Consecutive wins
-17 Finishes
-11 Performance bonuses
-35 UFC Fights
-11 Consecutive UFC Title Defenses
-24 UFC Wins
-1x Two Division Champion (must be Light Heavyweight or lower for this goal)
Promotion:
-15.1 M Career Earnings
-2.4 M PPV Buys
-8.0 M Followers
-19 PPV Main Events
Promotional Goals will come naturally, but make sure to hype your fights.
Starting off in career mode, you start against a fighter who you will lose to whether by KO, sub, or decision. Completing this bout, you will earn:
When it asks if you want to start your career in the UFC, say no. If you say yes, some achievements will be missed. Continue through the striking tutorials and then you will be given another fight. During the fight, shoot for takedowns by using
+
or
. Successfully complete a takedown 5 times for:
Stay Down!Perform 5 successful takedowns in a fight.

I recommend you find one move and use it as much as you can (I used the front kick (
+
)) and got it to level 3 in the first fight. This is important for another achievement. When a move gets to level 5, you can prestige it after. For The Master achievement, we must prestige a move by performing a KO or knockdown with that move. This can be done at any point in career. The move can also be upgraded in sparring sessions.
The MasterPrestige a move in your Career by knocking out or knocking down opponents with a 5-Star Move.

Simply upgrading the move in a fight, you will earn:
The ApprenticeUpgrade a move during a fight or training in your Career.

After the second fight, complete the grappling tutorial and then accept the fight you are offered after this. Do not decline it. Accepting the fight will earn you:
Risky OfferAccept an Amateur fight against a high level Wrestler.

In this fight we will aim to defeat him via ground and pound. When he takes big shots to the head continually, he will go limp and fall to the canvas. When this happens, press
to get on top of him and spam punches to KO him. This gets you:
After this fight, complete the submissions tutorial. Just beat the next opponent however you want and then move on. You'll then be signed to DWCS where you sign the contract. Select easy mode. Signing the contract earn you:
The ProFinish your training and sign your first Career contract.

When you are in the fighter menu, accept the contract and take the 3 week training camp. Select Watch Tape and unlock all 5 of the fighter game plans (This takes 2 weeks to do so sim after the first 3).
Next, sim to week 3 and go to sparring, then select whichever martial art you want to do (I did boxing). You are given an optional challenge to complete (mine was to land 10 uppercuts). Complete the challenge(s) to earn:
OverachieverComplete all optional challenges from a sparring session in your Career.

In career during trainings and fights, you will get rocked by a strike and see an attribute on the bottom left go down when this happens. After your sparring session or fight, go to fighter evolution by pressing on the right stick, go to the lost stat and use your evolution points to recover that stat. This earns:
I'm Back!Use Evolution Points to recover a lost attribute point in your Career.

Spend the rest of your camp points, then start the fight.
In this fight, rock your opponent a few times and then get on the ground with him. From full guard transition to half guard and then into north south. From here your opponent will transition to a sprawl (basically he will flip from his back onto his chest). From here transition to back side and then into back mount. From back mount hold
and
to initiate a Rear Naked Choke. To win the submission, you must keep your blue bar inside his red bar long enough. Since you are on easy, this shouldn't be hard. If you fail, just repeat the steps. This earns you:
After this fight, you sign another contract, but this time you can attach a bonus to it. Do the first one called "Can't say no". When you are in the fighter menu, accept your first contract for the next 4 fights. If you decline a single one, you will fail the "Can't say no" bonus. Choose whichever camp length you want (I chose 5 weeks), but we only need to do one thing this camp. Go to hype, then promotions and select "Stream a Sparring Session". Select boxing and then during the session, KO your training partner for:
Unleashed on CamKnockout your training partner during a streamed session in your Career.

Sim or use the points until you reach fight week and start the fight. When the fight starts, like last time, rock your opponent a couple of times and then take him down. From top mount hold
and initiate an armbar to secure a joint submission for:
Take your next fight and spend training camp doing whatever you want. During the fight we are looking for a KO in the clinch. Do this by beating up and rocking your opponent a good bit, but keep him conscious. Use jabs to weaken his head progressively. Initiate clinch using
+
if you are an orthodox or [cn_RB] + [cn_Y] if you are a southpaw. From here use [cn_B] and [cn_A] to throw knees and [cn_X] and [cn_Y] to throw punches. KO him from the clinch for:
Complete the last 2 fights on your contract via KO (for GOAT progress), remembering not to decline a contract offer. Also keep in mind that you want to use whatever strike you were using earlier so you can continue to upgrade it for The Master achievement (I used the front kick).
If you take all 4 offers like you are supposed to, then when you finish the contract you will earn:
After you complete this contract, another is given. Sign it with whatever bonus you want. At this point you should have 200+ evolution points which is more than enough for what we need them for. Go to fighter evolution, then go over to perks and purchase 5 perks in the same category. I purchased 5 wrestling perks, but you can do Stand up or another category if you wish. This achievement might pop late or you might need to equip the perks. In the end you will end up with:
The SpecialistUnlock 5 perks in a single category through Evolution Points in your Career.

At any point you want in fight camp, start a fresh week, then select "Invite a Fighter" and sort by ranking. Go to the earliest available fighter and make sure the number next to his name is 5 or less. This number is their ranking. We need to learn a move from top 5 ranked fighter. By this point you should definitely have enough money to spend on the move. Learn it (doesn't matter what kind it is) and you will get:
In this contract, you just want to run through the fights. I 5 starred my front kick (The Master achievement) by the end of the first fight and presitged it via KO at the end of the last fight on the contract.
The MasterPrestige a move in your Career by knocking out or knocking down opponents with a 5-Star Move.

Next keep fighting and run through your contracts until you reach a championship fight (I got it 16 pro fights in). You should easily win the fight. After you win the belt, defend it twice. By this point you should have 3 performance goals done for GOAT status (17 consecutive wins, 17 finishes and 12 KO's). Career earnings and PPV buys should stack up pretty quickly without much effort and will certainly be complete by the time you finish your performance goals. At this point we keep fighting until we are offered to move up a division to become a double champ (took me 4 title defenses). Accept this offer and capture the gold for another performance goal. Now you are going to have to defend your belt 12 consecutive times. To make this go by as fast as possible, stay in your previous weight class to keep your previous titles defenses (I had already had 4 title defenses so I only needed 8 more fights instead of 12) and do 1 week fight camps. Once that is done you will earn:
UndefeatedDefend the belt 12 consecutive times in your Career.

Along the way you will have achieved 24 UFC wins and 11 consecutive title defenses for your last 2 performance goals and will have undoubtedly broken PPV buys and career earnings records for:
Once you have achieved GOAT status, we have one thing left to do and that is to receive a major injury during a fight and win subsequently. To do this we want to coax him into hitting you while you are taunting him. There is a good chance you will take a couple minor injuries before you receive a major injury. When you get your major injury, you should be able to recover and get to your feet even if he goes for a ground and pound finish. From there knock him out, but keep in mind that you are still susceptible to his strikes. This may take a few tries. If you lose, just immediately pause and restart the fight. Win and you will earn:
Now that this is done, you have completed (hopefully) the longest portion of the game and should have 20 achievements by this point.
To end the online section, we have Blitz Battles. Here is the solution which I have written for the There Can Only Be One achievement. (link)
This is the hardest achievement in the game. You have to win 6 fights in a row in Blitz Battles. It's hard, it takes quite a few tries, but it is really not as bad as it seems. It took me 35 total Blitz Battle matches before I got this achievement. Please note that you must finish all 6 of your fights in one sitting. You cannot leave the game or your progress will be reset.
The type of fight changes every day in Blitz Battles. The type we are looking for is Minute to Win It. Minute to Win It mode consists of one one minute round. Fighting style is not restricted in this mode, just the time is.
Start off by creating a new fighter. Weight class and gender are meaningless as your fighter can change gender and weight class to match the requirements for any given day. Make the fighting style a Wrestler with the Smasher archetype. Cosmetics are obviously meaningless. Afterwards head to settings and make sure your grapple is on Legacy (settings > gameplay > grapple assist > change to Legacy). Load up Blitz Battles and join in. When selecting a fighter, press
to select from you CAFs and pick your new Smasher fighter.
The way we are going to win without requiring much skill is to use takedowns and slams. To perform a takedown use
+
or
+
. To perform slams use
+
+
. When going for takedowns make sure that you can actually reach your opponent. Don't get in too much of a hurry or your opponent will recognize what you are trying to do and they will put up their low guard.
When you have an opponent on the ground, you have a couple of options:
1. Stay in a dominant position on top by defending transitions (
+
) and using ground and pound
2. Try to submit your opponent (
+
)
Only try submissions when you have a stamina advantage. Submissions are kind of broken in this game so use them to your advantage. Some matches you might have to takedown your opponent 3 or 4 times.
SUMMARY: Use takedowns and stay in a dominant position for as long as you can
(It is also important to note that if you go the full 1 minute, and you usually will, the scoring can be crap sometimes and screw you over, but if you maintain control on the ground for a good portion of the fight, you should be good)
To start our quick wrap up, we will play a match of KO Mode. From the main menu go to Fight Now, then scroll over to Knockout Mode and start any match you want to fight. Complete the fight and you will earn:
Next we have customization achievements. To unlock customization options you have to
