Welcome to Yahtzee! A game which at first might look like it will a pain to complete, because of the luck based achievements, but is honestly very simple. You should be looking to spend at least one hour (up to two) on this game and you'll need two controllers to complete it.
Before we begin, for those who have never played Yahtzee before, here's a quick breakdown of the terminology used in the game:
- Yahtzee: A "Yahtzee" is when a player has five of a kind. For example: 6, 6, 6, 6, 6.
- Straight: There are two different "Straight" in Yahtzee; A large straight and a small straight. The difference between the two is that a large straight requires 5 consecutive numbers while a small only requires 4. For example: 1, 2, 3, 4 (small straight) or 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (large straight).
- Full House: A "Full House" is when a player has both three of a kind and two of a kind. For example; 1, 1, 1, 2, 2.
Let's begin! We'll start by setting up a custom game of Original and turn on Wild Dice. Wild Dice will randomly appear in the game, taking place of the regular die and will allow you to change the value of the die. As you can imagine, this is very handy. Keep restarting until Player 1 is the starting player. Make sure you follow the on screen instructions to manually shake the dice and keep shaking them for a count to 20. Once you reach a count of 20 you can stop shaking the dice and the first achievement will be ready to unlock upon finishing the game.
Now you may or may not get all of the following achievements in one game. For the sake of the walkthrough I'll assume you do. Once you finish the game, if you still need any of the achievements listed here, back out and drop out player 2. You'll want to reset up the same game but only with one player. I won't explain what's needed for each of the achievements as they are pretty obvious to figure out. Ignore the order they're in and go for them as you see fit. Remember to make use of the Wild Dice.
For this next achievement your dice need to have a total that's 25 or more. When you have this, select "Chance" from the score card.
Once you complete the first two player game, regardless if you've finished all the achievements from the above list, you will get this:
For the Win!
Win one game of Yahtzee against a friend
All that's left is to play single player games. Set up another Wild Dice game and play Half-Card so that you can complete it quicker. You need a little bit of luck because you want either a Yahtzee, Full House or Large Straight on your first roll. It can be a little frustrating, but you also need to win 50 games. With that said, you can rack up wins quickly playing single player. Keep trying until you have this achievement:
You should be close to the last two achievements now. Continue playing through Wild Dice, Half-Card games and eventually you'll unlock the final achievements. If you win 50 games before you've been playing for one hour set up a game and leave it idle for a while. Once you feel an appropriate amount of time has passed finish the game to unlock the achievement.
As one last tip; if you have a turbo pad you can make use of it here. Turbo down the buttons and leave it while it plays through games.
Clock up over an Hour of playtime in Yahtzee
That's it completed! Congratulations!
