The online for this game is very easy to do, but it is very time consuming due to the fact that you have got to play and complete a lot of multiplayer games.
There are 12 achievements in Fracture which must be done online. There are some other achievements in this game which can also be earned online instead of the campaign. They will be revealed and explained later.
The online community for Fracture is dead, so the only possible way you'll be able to get the online achievements done is to boost them.
You can do the online achievements either in Ranked or Player Matches. The number of ranked matches will be recorded on the Leaderboards, but they cannot be private and require a minimum of 3 players. While player matches are not recorded on the Leaderboards, they can be private and require only 2 players.
Therefore, you only need 1 additional player to help you get all of the online achievements done.
Now, there are 3 methods in which you can use to boost the online achievements for this game...
Method 1: 1 Additional Player
You can boost all of the online achievements with just 1 additional player. If you're having a hard time finding a friend or a partner who is willing to help you get the online achievement done, consider creating a boosting session or searching for one. In addition, the game page will list "X want to boost" for other players wishing to boost.
The advantage with 1 additional player is that you will complete more matches and it'll be easier to organize your partner if they want to get weapon kills or other achievements completed. The disadvantage is that you will have to do 2x the amount of boosting in order for both of you to get all of the miscellaneous multiplayer achievements.
Method 2: More Than 2 Players
The maximum amount of players you can have in a game of Fracture is 12. However the magic number on this game is 8, since you can have up to 8 players in an Xbox Live Party. If you have more than 2 people in a lobby, the host has the power to move everyone around in their created lobby, by putting them on different teams and removing random players from the game as well.
When we boosted the game, we did a little trick where we put one person alone who just wanted the play and completed game achievements on one team, whilst the other 6 players (as well as me), were placed on the other team and we were capturing the hill (King Of The Hill) all the time.
The advantage with more than 2 players is that if other people participate, you will get a lot more games completed, allowing you to speed up the process drastically. If you're not the host, you have the right to leave the game on and the controller and go and do your own things around the household etc. The disadvantage is that you may get confused if people want to get certain achievements, weapon kills or miscellaneous related achievements. Also, the game has a bad habit of kicking people out of the lobbies/games time to time. If this happens, you'll have to re-invite the missing players to your lobby. Do not let them complain at the host. They are doing a favor after all.
Method 3: Dummy Account
If you have an extra console, another copy of Fracture, and a dummy account, then you can boost this game by yourself. In fact... many have suggested this is the best method among the lot.
The advantage is that you will be able to get all of the miscellaneous achievements for yourself and nobody else. The disadvantage is that because you are only helping yourself, you will have to play and complete more games in the long run.
Setting Up Your Online Matches
Unless you want to keep track of your online games played, I recommend you do Player Matches since that game mode only requires one additional player to start an online match.
If you really want to record how many matches you have done in Player Matches, the best method is to grab some paper and pen and create a tally chart of all the matches you have done to date. It'll be a long list by the way.
1. When you are in your multiplayer lobby menu, you should firstly make it Private so that you don't have any random players joining your matches. Even though most of the time the game is dead, you can still get a handful of random players passing by from time to time.
To make it Private, scroll down to the Private Match section and turn it On.
2. Next, you will want to select the Game Type. Choose the type you wish to go for first achievement-wise.
3. The map should always be "Area 52". It's the easiest map to boost on. You don't get all the weapons on the map, but that's not your main concern since the weapons can be done in the campaign as well.
4. Set your maximum players to the maximum number you're bringing into your created online game. If you keep it normal, then the game may take a while to load.
5. Put the "Respawn Time Limit" to 2. If you die you will respawn after 2 seconds in dying mode.
6. If you wish to switch teams in an online match, simply select your Gamertag and then select "Switch Faction"
Additional Options Can Be Found By Pressing The Button In The Lobby Menu
1. Put the "Weapon Respawn Time" to 3. This will respawn the weapons faster.
2. Put the "Team Balancing" to None
3. Ensure "Change Teams" is set to Yes
4. You can change the Grenade & Weapon Loadouts in Fracture as well. Choose which option you want, and when you start the match you will encounter weapons which belong to that category. Be aware that not all weapons will be available online.
5. I suggest you put "Team Killing" to "No Penalty"
Note: After you have completed an online match on Fracture, it saves your settings which you have created in the Lobby Menu. However if you decide to change the game mode, it will change some settings.
Step 1: Game Modes
The first grind you will be doing is winning the game modes which contain achievements you will need to do. You will get a large handful of achievements along the way, but don't be at all surprised if this step takes you around 6 - 10 hours. The length of time needed depends upon which method you're using to boost with.
You can do these game mode achievements in any order you wish. Do not feel as though you've got to do them in the order the walk-through presents them.
Capture The Flag
Note: This is a team game mode, which means you can go for the team based achievements as well. To ensure you are on the team you want to get the achievements on, simply select your Gamertag and then select "Switch Faction". Choose between the Pacificans and the Americans and stay on that team until you get the team based achievement you're looking for.
Capture The Flag will take a little while to get the achievement. It requires the winning player to run over to the opponents base, grab the enemy flag and bring it back to their own base to score. If 2 of you are doing this achievement on each team, then you'll need to win 50 matches each.
Note: Under the Game Type, you must do the normal Capture The Flag game mode. You cannot do Single-Flag CTF to get this achievement.
First, I would suggest you put the Capture Limit to 1, allowing the person who captures the flag to win the match.
Next, I would put the time limit down to 3 minutes. You may want to do 5 - 10 minutes for the first few matches in order to get the feel of the arena.
Double check the teams are OK and then start the match.
Now, simply run over to the opponents base and capture the flag and bring it back to your base to score a point and win!
InducteeYou have completed 1 multiplayer game.
This will be your first online achievement in this game. It just requires you to play and complete one online match. It's a nice achievement for a start, but I'm afraid you have a long way to do in order to get the final achievement among this "Played Match Achievement Collection".
PrivateYou have completed 10 multiplayer games.
This will be your second online achievement for finishing 10 online matches. Don't stop now, keep going!
Once you have won 50 Capture The Flag Matches, this achievement should unlock. Please note that these game mode achievements are buggy and may not unlock at the exact amount of games played. You may be required to do extra!
If you are doing this game with a partner and taking turns winning, then you should also get this achievement for playing 100 online games. The reason is because you both need to win 50 online games each for the Standard Bearer achievement.
Excavation
Note: This is a team game mode, which means you can go for the team based achievements as well. To ensure you are on the team you want to get the achievements on, simply select your Gamertag and then select "Switch Faction". Choose between the Pacificans and the Americans and stay on that team until you get the team based achievement you're looking for.
Excavation is the longest game mode you have to do among all of the game mode achievements. In Excavation there are control points which are scattered around the map. Your job will be to lower the terrain nearby these control points and capture them. You'll need to use the Entrencher or a weapon which can sink the ground in order to gain access to the control point. Once captured a spike will rise and the area will be yours. Points will start ranking up. Capture additional control points to speed up your point score. Whichever team reaches the score limit wins the match.
First, set the Score Limit to 25. That's the lowest possible in the game mode.
Next, I would put the time limit down to 3 minutes. You may want to do 5 - 10 minutes for the first few matches in order to get the feel of the arena.
Double check the teams are OK and then start the match.
Now, simply run into the battlefield and let the winning person capture the control points. Rinse and repeat until you get the achievements you're going for.
Note: If you have additional players playing online with you, more control points will appear in the matches.
If you haven't played 100 online games yet, you should do so and then you'll get this achievement as well as some others.
You will also unlock one of the two above achievements for winning 100 online matches for whichever team you're playing on. If you are doing this with a partner, ensure both of you get your respectful achievements before swapping teams over.
Once you have won 50 Excavation Matches, this achievement should unlock. Please note that these game mode achievements are buggy and may not unlock at the exact amount of games played. You may be required to do extra!
Kingmaker
Note: You can do this achievement in either "Kingmaker" or "Team Kingmaker". The game mode you choose will change the teams you are based on. Kingmaker is free for all, while Team Kingmaker is obviously team based. If you do Team Kingmaker however, the point limit will increase faster if more players take part in the game.
Kingmaker is the shortest game mode among all of the game mode achievements you need to do. There will be an area in which are required to run and stand in. Once a player/team has captured the area, points will be given. Whichever player/team gets the score limit is the winner.
First, set the King Time to 20.
Next, I would put the time limit down to 3 minutes. You may want to do 5 - 10 minutes for the first few matches in order to get the feel of the arena.
Turn "Hill Migration" Off
Double check the teams are OK and then start the match.
Now, get the winning person/team to run and capture the hill. Rinse and repeat until you get the achievement.
Once you have won 50 Kingmaker/Team Kingmaker Matches, this achievement should unlock. Please note that these game mode achievements are buggy and may not unlock at the exact amount of games played. You may be required to do extra!
Break In
Note: This is a team game mode, which means you can go for the team based achievements as well. To ensure you are on the team you want to get the achievements on, simply select your Gamertag and then select "Switch Faction". Choose between the Pacificans and the Americans and stay on that team until you get the team based achievement you're looking for.
"Break In" is a fairly lengthy game mode. It requires the winning team to run and capture the opponents base. The more players that are capturing the base, the faster the score will be. Whichever team reaches the score limit, wins the match.
First, set the Point Limit to 25.
Next, I would put the time limit down to 3 minutes. You may want to do 5 - 10 minutes for the first few matches in order to get the feel of the arena.
Double check the teams are OK and then start the match.
Now, get the winning person/team to run and capture the base. Rinse and repeat until you get the achievement.
CorporalYou have completed 250 multiplayer games.
Whilst you are progressing with this achievement, you should get this achievement if you are playing with a partner. Obviously, if you are using a dummy account, it will require extra matches before you get this achievement.
You will also unlock the other achievement of the above two which you didn't get, since you were not on that team earlier. If you are doing this with a partner, ensure both of you get your respectful achievements before swapping teams over, that is if you want to.
Once you have won 50 Break In Matches, this achievement should unlock. Please note that these game mode achievements are buggy and may not unlock at the exact amount of games played. You may be required to do extra! Notice the achievements name... a popular internet meme originally from the game Zero Wing.
You have now done all of the game mode achievements on Fracture. Time for the next... and lengthy step!
Step 2: Completing Online Games
Get your DVD Players, some homework if you're still at school or something to keep you occupied because you're now on the step which is going to be a very long one. By now, depending upon which boosting method you have used, you should have done around 200 - 400+ Matches. You'll need to increase that amount to 1500 Played Online Matches in order to complete this step!
Winning and losing matches doesn't make any difference with the last online achievements, because you only need to play and complete the online matches.
Now there is one advantage if you are doing this with a partner. The person who is not the host can actually go off and do something else, whilst the host is still playing and completing the matches. The only risk that could happen is that the partner may get kicked out of the match, and may require another invite to join if the match is private.
What makes this game bad is that whoever is the host cannot leave the game idle. The reason is because the host has to start-up every single match, and they will likely be the ones responsible for completing the game.
Note: Games which do end in a Draw count towards the achievement, but the lowest amount of time you can do is 3 minutes. If a player completes an online match by brute force, the match usually lasts around 1 - 2 minutes instead.
If you are boosting this with a partner, you could consider making an agreement to swap hosts, so that you both get a break from the game. This is something which can be left down to yourselves to decide.
If you're wondering how I manage to survive hosting these matches, I simply used one eye to play and complete the match on my screen, whilst the other eye was focusing on a film I was watching which was playing on my Laptop. The game is easy to follow once you get used to it. It's not rocket science to boost.
Alternative Step
You can work with your partner to get weapon kills in online matches to ease the congestion. Obviously you cannot do that if you have already done the achievements in the campaign.
Remember that some weapons will not originally be in the map you are playing, and some will require you to change the weapons that appear in the lobby menu.
Weapon Achievements You Can Get Online...
Note: All of these achievements are across all your games played. They don't have to be done in one online match.
You can also get achievements for getting kills with certain Grenades...
You will need 5 people on one team in order to get this achievement.
And you can also get these achievements as well by performing the specific kill method...
Dead AimYou have accumulated 25 headshot kills.
PugilistYou killed 10 enemies in a row with only using Melee.
Ah! A Star Wars reference... until they said "Field".
Eventually after playing through a large sum of matches, you should get this completing for completing your 500th online match!
And then... finally... when you have dedicated yourself part of your life to this game which you feels as though, should you have done this or not... you will get...
This achievement for completing a whopping total of 1500 Online Matches!! Well done! You have completed the online for Fracture. And if you have completed the single player in this game as well, it means you have all 50 achievements worth 1000G Gamerscore. Congratulations! You deserve it!
Conclusion
The campaign in Fracture has it's tricky moments with the Hardcore difficulty, and it also has some collectibles which are challenging to pick up... even though the collectibles get stored and you do not have to collect them ever again. However the online achievements for this game will take you a long time to do, and even though the requirement and the boosting method is simple, it's like watching paint dry and it can be soul destroying.
This isn't a game I would say "Go to the shop and buy now!" There are plenty of other games out there that are better. However, if you see this game in a bargain bin, I will admit it is worth it. I have played other games which are far worse than this, but I've also played others which aren't as much of a grind as this.
If you do decide to get Fracture, I wish you the best of luck... especially if you are going for the full 1000G Gamerscore.
