I’ll break this up into two parts. The game itself and value for what it is.

Gameplay I found actually fun. I’ve been gaming since Atari and it did a good job of capturing a retro feel. The jumping and slashing was on par with a sega genesis game of the time but much easier. Save points are everywhere so you won’t find yourself breaking a controller over missing a double turn jump over spikes. Boss fights are predictable and nothing you haven’t seen before. There in lies the rub, it’s nothing you haven’t seen before.

The game for what it is—easy gamerscore at a high price point. $10 is way too much. I did my first run on a dummy account to explore every inch of the map and to find the six hearts and 8 crystals. The single map design is old school but just not that big. If you play this type of game often it should take 1-2 hours tops, less if using a guide. If you want quick points or just like the retro look I’d wait on a sale.
