MONOPOLY Deal
Exalted Entity
Welcome to my walkthrough for MONOPOLY Deal. In this walkthrough, I will be taking you through the the game in the most efficient and fastest manner towards obtaining all of the achievements. I will also try to make it easy for first time Monopoly players. For that reason, this walkthrough will assume that you are boosting with 1 partner in a private match. For this reason, it is listed that you need 3 playthroughs and it will take 1-2 hours. If you can double box, or have a partner that doesn't care about achievements and is letting you get all the wins, then it will only take 2 playthroughs and 1 hour. This walkthrough also presumes that you are the primary booster / leader, so for achievements available, it will tell you how to get them, and then if possible, how to give them to your partner in the same game.
MONOPOLY Deal is a adaptation of the Monopoly board game. In this game, you use cards instead of actual properties, and rather than bankrupting the other player, your goal is to be the first to have 3 property sets (any colour).
You can either choose to play in a public match, or in a private match. Either way though, you cannot play locally. You have to have someone else on another Xbox One console to play with you. You can do all of the achievements with just 2 players though.
I will also include a 100% video guide on the final page in case written walkthroughs are not living up to your expectations.
Alright, flip the page and we can get started.
MONOPOLY Deal does not work in the same way that the board game would work. You win in this game by getting 3 complete property sets of any colour first. The deck eventually runs out of cards, but then the discard pile gets put into the deck and you start drawing again. So there is no way to win the game without completing 3 property sets.
You can take some cards out of the game if you feel they are cumbersome to the tasks you need by choosing to put them in the bank. You can never use those cards in the game again, and instead they get turned into Monopoly Money. Actual Monopoly Money also can be added to the bank so that you have more space in your hands for cards. The maximum number of cards you can have in your hand is 7 at the end of your turn, and any higher number will force you to discard that many cards.
You can choose to bank some cards instead of discarding them, but each time you bank a card, it uses an action slot. You have 3 action slots per turn. That means each turn you can either play 3 cards, bank 3 cards, or do the combination of the two.
While boosting, you can help your partner out by using Forced Deals to give them some of your cards that they might need to complete a set. You can also help yourself by using Deal Breaker and taking an entire set, plus the house and hotel on it if those two are on the complete set. This can be particularly useful if you are going for the achievement for both players in one game to own a full blue set with a house and hotel, and use a double the rent on that set. Sly Deals can help you out in case your partner does not have a card to give you something he has, as you can just take a card with Sly Deal from your partner.
There seem to be only 3 "Just Say No" cards, so if you get all 3 and your partner does not get one, it is best to either discard them to hope to draw them again once the pile restarts, or to wait for the achievement associated with them until the next game. Also, if you get one, and your partner gets two, you cannot get the achievement by, for example, you placing down a rent card, the partner using, "Just Say No," you countering that card by using your own "Just Say No," (at this point you would get the achievement), and then your partner trying to use the 2nd "Just Say No" on your "Just Say No." We tried it a few times, the achievement did not unlock during any of those attempts.
Alright, flip the page and let's start our first playthrough.
Okay, so let's go ahead and start up the game. Once the loading screens are done, press and choose whatever language you prefer, and after the black screen telling you about auto saves, press and choose the profile that you want to get achievements with. Then press on "PLAY MONOPOLY".
We are going to start off by getting both players the achievements for having 12 properties, so we are going to save the achievement for not playing any property cards for later.
So, just keep drawing and placing any properties down. Also, if you have wildcards, set them down in the same colour pile, don't intermingle them with the other colours. If you want to intermingle them, then make sure that you pay attention to when the game is about to be over, and make sure they do not complete a set (Green takes 3 to complete a set, if you have 1 green and one wildcard, that is fine, but don't have 2 greens and 1 wild card, because that will count towards the winning set, and void you of an achievement).
Make sure to collect / keep the following cards, "Just say No," "Pass Go," "Deal Breaker," "Forced Deal," "Sly Deal," "Double the Rent," and a rent card for Blue, or an any colour rent card. Also, make sure your partner does not charge you a rent card when you do not have any money, because that will make you pay with property, and that will void you an achievement.
So, go ahead and put down property cards, but only complete the blue set and you will get
Now, make sure not to complete any more sets, because if you complete two more, you will win and consequently end the game. Make sure to leave one property slot open for only wildcards and no actual properties. But keep putting down property cards. After you have got the above achievement, both you and your partner can start putting down properties. You will eventually earn
CollectorHave 1 of each kind of property on the board, including Stations and Utilities
and
SettlerHave at least 12 properties on the board, including Stations and Utilities
Now keep placing wildcards and complete the second property set with only wildcards, and you will obtain
Wild wild setHave a full set composed of only "Property Wildcards"
Now move away one of the Wild Cards so that it either rests in an empty slot, or is attached to a set that will not complete with it. So now you should be back to having only 1 complete set. Keep drawing and going turns, but stop placing properties if it is going to make you complete two sets (your goal is to keep One set complete only for now). When your partner and you are both set up to 1 card left to complete your second sets (make sure the set he completes is one that you do not have completed for a future achievement), and you have a "Forced Deal" card, use it to give your partner the card they need, and take the card you need (the trading cards must be already placed, you cannot take it from someone's hand). This will complete a set for both of you (now you are both at 2 sets complete or your partner is at 1 complete and you at 2), and you will obtain
Helpful dealBy using a “Forced Deal” card, both players get a full set.
If you have gotten a house or hotel, place them on the blue completed set. It does not matter which partner does this. Also, by now you should have gotten 3 "Pass Go" cards. Use them all in one turn (you cannot use any other card or bank any card because that will take an action slot away from you). You will get
Once you have placed a hotel on the blue set, you will have
Now keep going until you have a "Double the Rent" card and a "Rent" card that can be placed on a blue pile (if your partner has this, they might as well do this, but make sure you have enough money to not pay with properties). Use the "Rent" card on the blue pile, and then press when prompted to double the rent. This will net you
Business masterUse a “Double The Rent” card on the full dark blue set with a house and hotel.
and
Rent basicsUse a “Rent” or “Multi-Colored Rent” card on a full set of properties.
Now, keep playing until you have a "Just Say No" card, and your partner has one too. Use a rent card, and have your partner use a "Just Say No" by pressing , and then it will give you the option to use it, and press to use it. That will get you
Final noCounter a “Just Say No” card with a “Just Say No” card.
Now, keep playing until you draw the "Deal Breaker" card. While you are doing that, go ahead and use rent cards on each other. Because you have already used on previously, you will only need 4 more. Make sure that your partner or you do not pay with properties, so make sure both of you have money in the bank. Once you have used 5 in the game, you will get
Now you should have "Deal Breaker," so use it and steal a set your partner has and add it to your own board, giving you the third completed set, the victory and the achievement
TacticianUse “Deal Breaker” as a final move to win the game
And because you won without paying any properties in the game, you will get
and because none of your sets had a wildcard in it, you will also get
SelectiveWin without having a “Property Wildcard” in your full sets
Alright. That concludes the first playthrough. Flip the page and we will move on to the second one, which should complete the game for you.
Alright, so this play through should complete the game for you.
We are going to be only attempting one achievement here, and that is
I want those ones.Never play property cards. Steal them or request them as payment to finally win the game.
If your partner did not get the "Just Say No" achievement or using the 5 rents or anything of the sort, he can get those here. Your partner will be sacrificing the above achievement in this run and will have to come back for it in another run. This is because only one person at a time can get this achievement efficiently.
So just keep having your partner place down properties, and whenever you get cards for "Sly Deal" and "Deal Breaker" use them. Also once you have some of his properties stolen, you can use rent cards to get him to give you properties for rent payment. Once you complete three sets, you will have your achievement, and your game will be complete.
If you are helping your partner, then get him to clean up all remaining achievements in this play through, and do one more play through for the achievement you just got.
Alright, that is it for the walkthrough. Hope you found it helpful.
