5. Madden Ultimate Team (MUT) Mode
The achievements are identical to last year. We’ll start off easy. Load up MUT, and go through the mandatory 4 steps in the menu. You’ll then be loaded into a very easy solo challenge. Complete it to earn:
After the challenge is complete, open your pack and you should also unlock:
If this didn’t work, just fiddle with your lineup in the main menu and you should be good to go.
This year, we have to be MUT Level 7 (top right corner) to be allowed to access the auction house for “Negotiator”. This requires 20-30 minutes of completing solo challenges. For myself, completing all 7 “preseason” challenges and the first 2 “season” challenges against the first team was enough. All were very easy, completed on first try, and required minimal skill.
Once you reach MUT Level 7, you should have amassed around 5,000 coins. Now go to the auction house (under “store” in the MUT menu), and look for any player with a cheap “buy now” value (under 800 coins is advisable, as it leaves you with more cash for the next step). Buying at buy now value counts as winning the MUT auction, even though we didn’t bid. You should now unlock:
The final achievement in this mode is for activating 2 chemistries at the same time. Go to your lineup in the MUT menu, and view the “chemistries” tab lines up on the right hand side (can take a couple of seconds). You should see a bunch of teams with “X/50” by them. This is how many players you have from each team.
To keep things simple, we need 5 starting players for 2 different teams. They can be on offense, or defense. When you have 5, you will see the first star light up by the team in question, and that activates a chemistry. Another option is to get 1 chemistry set for free by completing Longshot: Homecoming once through, granting you a full set.
Either way, it’s highly unlikely (but possible) you’ll have 5 players for 2 teams. At this point, I had 4 Chicago Bears players and 3 Indianapolis Colts in my starting lineup from all the solo challenge packs I had. Whatever your numbers are, it’s a simple case of buying the remaining players in the auction house to reach 5 each (so in my case, 1 Chicago Bear and 2 Indianapolis Colts).
Before rushing in and wasting cash, go to “item binder” in your MUT menu (under lineup menu) and sort through items by team. Make a note of what positions each player is in, and make sure they are starting in different positions. We need to make sure players we aren’t buying a player in a position already contributing to either team’s chemistry (so in my case, if I had a Bear at WR and Colt at DT, I wouldn’t buy a WR or DT).
Now go to the auction house, and focus on the cheapest players at buy now value in positions not currently occupied by either team. You should still have a few thousand coins left, which is more than enough. If for whatever reason you don’t have enough, just grind out some easy challenges.
Once you have 5 starters for 2 different teams at the same time, you should unlock:
That concludes the achievements for this section. For some people this is the best mode of Madden, so enjoy if you decide to come back and continue on with your MUT journey!
