3. Marooners Story walkthroughUpdate notes

I am going to start this achievement walkthrough with the cumulative achievements that will unlock, long before the end of the game. These are earned by collecting points/gems/treasures and are rewarded at the end of matches, usually when your account levels up.

There are a handful of achievements that are easiest earned with two controllers or two consoles. If you only have 1 controller, then I suggest you find a boosting partner as trying to get these achievements legitimately would be aggravating.

Strategy: Online

Arena (Not party)

Linear

Match type: Friends

Server: Where ever you are from

Local players: 2 (1 if your boosting)

Start the match and neither controllers/people do anything until the mini-game ends and you will unlock

Continue doing this until all the mini-games are done and you will unlock the following

Same setup but BigWiIIieStyIe figured out this next solution. To get a perfect score you have to get to 200, but the game usually ends at 180. You need to start the same setup and need to end up in an arena with fire in it. Stand the second controller/boosting partner next to the fire and when your score hits 179 immediately hit cn_B to knock him/her into the fire and you should get 200+ points. This took me a few tries to get down, but when you do you will unlock

Strategy: Offline

Arena

Linear

Match type: offline

Kill the other controller on each of the maps and you will unlock

Same exact set up only this time, kill the other controller/boosting partner. Trade places when you get your achievement, if using a boosting partner

Now if you are using a boosting partner, drop to the online part of the section for the quickest strategies for boosting the online achievements and ignore the next section. This next section is for people with 1-2 controllers but no boosting partner.

Certain achievements can not be unlocked with 2 controllers unless a CPU is active. This can be avoided with a boosting partner or two consoles. It will not work with two controllers and one console, even if you get the treasure. The CPU is pretty easy to beat, so don't stress if you have to go this route. Set up the game as follows

Strategy: Offline

Party

Match type: offline

then press cn_start and have bots slot fill 2.

This will have you only fighting one bot. This mode has you playing mini-games, trying to grab the treasure and coins to outscore the CPU. The last one standing in each match will be given a chance to grab a pot of gold that will also unlock an achievement. The reason I say have a chance is that one of the areas has a random chance to put the pot of gold out of your reach, it can happen to you because it happened to me.

The events are randomized each time so the order you play in will differ. Hit your opponent with cn_B and grab any coins that drop, you need 100 for an achievement. Can be done with 2 controllers but I found it easier to farm the CPU. Also, try to grab as many power-ups as you can, power-ups look like this:

power up

Rocky Road:

Rocky road

Run forward without getting hit by boulders. Mostly these come from left to right or right to left but at times will come from behind you. Once the CPU dies, the pot of gold will always appear in front of you. If you get hit before reaching the pot of gold, the achievement will not unlock

Mines of Mayhem:

mines of mayhem

Get to the bottom of the screen while your opponent is still at the top and he will die. This level can be frustrating do to the fact that the pot of gold can and usually will appear on the opposite side of the screen and timing is iffy on reaching it before the level ends, or it is up too high and no way to reach it. Try to stay near the middle as best you can to maximize your chances of getting it. (Note the photo)

Stonework Square:

Stonework square

Dropping rocks that are falling from the sky, that are breakable. I found the CPU killed itself pretty early so just dodge and reach the pot of gold, the stones stop when the pot of gold appears.

Flower Falls:

Falling flower

The floor falls out from beneath you and when it rises back up it has treasure on it. This level is best to just knock the other guy off the edge with cn_B

Crushing Chasm:

Crushing Chasm

Musical chairs meet a giant crushing stone. Stay in the light when the wheel stops moving, even though it doesn't always drop when it stops. Hit him out of safety for an easy win.

No achievement for this one.

Icy Isles:

Icy isles

Cracked Ice will slowly separate and wind gusts will attempt to blow you into the water. Immediately knock him off the edge for a quick win.

Twin Temple:

twin twin

Hot potato meets Indiana Jones. Keep the idol or grab it from him until it stops giving coins/gems. Then you need to give it to him by jumping into him. Lag makes this hard if you are playing online.

Brimstone Basin:

brimstone basin

You will be on a giant spinning disc with dragon cannon statues shooting fireballs at you and randomly treasure at times. Hit him into the lava for an easy win.

No achievement for this one.

Avalanche of Agony:

avalanche

You will be on a narrow path with 5 openings in front of you. These openings will have giant boulders rolling down on you. Try to dodge the boulders and grabbing the treasure. I found the CPU died, frequently, on the first boulder.

No achievement for this one.

Note there were also a few more levels that I never ended up playing. Not do to randomness but I think you need to meet certain requirements to reach these levels (score so much or last so long, not sure).

If you've stolen 100 coins you will have earned

if not, soon.

If you've been vigilant about power up's you will unlock

If not, eventually (no rush)

Strategy: Offline

Party

Linear

Match type: offline

No bots

Now you need to play and beat your second controller 50 times (not 50 minigames). Try to get as many coins as you can during this to minimize your need to grind. You will unlock

and this one because it is buggy in a good way

and not now but after the 50 online games you should unlock

After playing 50 offline matches against your controller (minus the number of matches it took to get the pots of gold) you will unlock

Online with a boosting partner/second console:

Strategy: Online

Party (for the gems)

Linear

Match type: Friends

Server: Where ever you are from

Local players: 1

You will have to play 100 matches if you use a boosting partner but fear not, the second half will be faster.

Now whoever won the 50 matches will quit out the match after it begins each time, allowing for the second half to end a heck of a lot faster. Both participants will unlock

Online solo:

Strategy: Online

Party (for the gems)

Linear

Match type: Friends

Server: Where ever you are from

Local players: 1

1 bot

This is going to take longer and there is a very small chance it may take more than 50 games. You will have to follow the same strategies used to get the pot of gold for each map since this will generally lead you to win. There is no short cut if you do this solo, you will have to win legit.
