Dear all:

I have played through this game numerous times, both boosting and engrossed in the story. It is a fantastic game, however - if played without a slant towards collecting achievements, one could play the game through three full times and still have three more playthroughs to go! My intention for this walkthrough is to provide the quickest possible route which still encourages people to play as the Shepard they want to play as!

Damn, you bet me to it. Give me a shout if you need some help. I've played through it ten times in total.

So how's this going? I could certainly use the walkthrough, as well (already finding out that I missed a ton of stuff). It looks like all of the information is available and that it mostly just needs to be compiled.

I'd be happy to help or take over for you—let me know if there's anything I can do.

No, sorry, it doesn't appear the user has been on the site since the 23rd of December. I will let you know if I receive a response in PM. Would you like to receive editor status and work on the walkthrough?

Nice guide!

Two things I'd like to add:

I wouldn't suggest engineer as a class to play through the game with 3 times, especially not on insanity. That's just cruel. Soldier or infiltrator with commando spec are by far the best choices due to the massive advantages in survival (and dps). Immunity is so good it's silly.

Also, for a 3 playthroughs character it's a waste of character points to put anything in renegade/paragon, since you can get up to 4 points in each per playthrough. 1 in each for becoming spectre, and 3 for 25, 50 and 75% renegade/paragon. If you're just slightly smart, by the 2nd playthrough you'll have 5 in one or both and can use the Noveria glitch to easily max out both from there on out. On the third playthrough you'll have at least one of them at 12, without having spent a single point. That'll get you the related achievements while letting you put your points in combat oriented skills, which in turn will make the ride through insanity a bit smoother.

edit:

infiltrator, not vanguard. Biotics are for companions :p

Also, I don't think you mentioned the monkey paragon glitch. This is doable from scratch, letting you play as renegade while maxing out paragon right away.

I think he recommended to play as the same character through all 3 playthroughs, which I don't think is entirely necessary. 3 playthroughs is still the minimum for trying to get the achievements, but I would recommend playing Adept on Normal and then using that character on New Game+ on Insanity. For Hardcore, I'd recommend the Engineer as the difficulty spike between Normal and Hardcore is virtually nonexistent. This will make the "Use ____ xx times" achievements easier to accomplish. One of the shortcomings of the guide is that it lists all the abilities but doesn't recommend playing as a different character at all, especially when it notes how when your teammates use the skills they do not count towards the achievement.
While the guide itself is short and sweet, it is very possible to hit level 50 while playing on normal. During my playthrough, I managed to get to level 47 on Normal (didn't do every side mission), and then played NG+ on Insanity and hit level 60 before fighting Saren at the Citadel (again, not doing every sidequest).

runJebus makes a good point about the Renegade/Paragon glitch. There is little mention of the requirements for actually doing the glitch. Everyone will need 5 or so points in each of the categories before those dialog options are available.

Another thing I would note is to never kill enemies while in the Mako. Killing enemies while in the vehicle cuts the experience gain by two-thirds so use the Mako to weaken a foe and kill them while on foot. This is particularly helpful while on Insanity when Geth Prime foes will give 4000+ EXP on foot.

No problem! ME1 is one of my favorite games, even after collecting the achievements.

DLC is not required to be a part of the walkthrough (optional). If you're interested in making some additions to the walkthrough feel free to PM me and we can get something set up.
