3. Minecraft (Nintendo Switch) Update Alpha 0.12.0Update notes

Let's start with the easiest achievement to get, which is 'Taking Inventory'. You will most likely unlock this naturally when doing the other achievements, but to do it now all you need to do for this is to press the button which opens your Inventory (go to the previous page if you want to know the controls).
You will unlock:

Then go into the 'Update Alpha 0.12.0' area. We will be doing these achievements in a clockwise direction (Up on the left then back down on the right).
If you wish to know the position of this area and the layout of the achievements:

You will unlock:

Go to the sign labeled 'Return to Sender' and open the chest and take out a Diamond Sword AND/OR a Bow & a stack of Arrows of Healing. Then head down the stairs and turn left and follow the pathway till you reach a bedrock area. There are two ways to spawn in the Ghast, either press the button or stand in the auto spawn - either way works just fine.
Now there are two different ways you can unlock this:
1. You can use your Sword; Which can be done by swinging it, therefore hitting back the fireballs with the sword before they hit you.
2. You can use the Bow & Arrows; Which can be done by shooting an arrow, therefore hitting back the fireballs with the flying arrow before they hit you.
The first option may seem better and easier, but if you're not the host it may be harder due to lag. So if you're experiencing issues hitting back the fireball with the sword, you can try the bow and arrow method. Due to lag, you may need to shoot before the Ghast shoots the fireball for it to register as a hit on the fireball. You likely need to experiment on what timing to release the arrow suits you best. If you kill the Ghast with the arrows instead of with the fireballs, the Ghast will auto spawn in again provided you're standing in that spot where the signs point.
When you have killed it with its own fireball, you will unlock:

You will also unlock 'Monster Hunter' if you haven't already.
Once you have the achievement, head back the way you came and up the stairs to the chests.

Go to the sign labeled 'Sniper Duel' and open the chest and take out a Bow and an Arrow. Then head down the stairs and turn right and follow the pathway till you reach a fork in the road.
Now there are two different ways you can unlock this; Vertical or Horizontal. Pick whatever you think is best for you.
1. Vertical; Press the command block button in front of you. You will be teleported to a small room with a hole in front of you. Crouch (this will cause you not to fall down the hole) and walk over the hole, look down, and with the bow shoot an arrow straight down it. All you need to do is kill the Skeleton with the arrows from where you are standing, which is 50+ blocks away.
2. Horizontal; You will be in a long area with a button in front of you. Press the button that is in front of you, which will spawn in a Skeleton at the other end. All you need to do is kill the Skeleton with the arrows from where you are standing, which is 50+ blocks away. This may be a little tricky, especially if you're doing this on a touch screen as the arch of the arrow shot needs to be precise.
When you have killed the Skeleton, you will unlock:

You will also unlock 'Monster Hunter' if you haven't already.
Once you have the achievement, head back the way you came and up the stairs. - [If you are in the vertical room, behind you there is a command block button which will teleport you back down where you were.]

Go to the sign labeled 'Stayin' Frosty'. Press the command block button to get Fire Resistance effect, or you can and open the chest and take out a Potion of Fire Resistance and drink it. Then go into the designated area and go into the lava.
You will unlock:

Recipe (if needed):

Recipe (if needed):

You will unlock:

Go to the sign labeled 'Time to Mine!'. You likely already have unlocked this achievement, as it can be unlocked when doing 'Getting an Upgrade' and 'MOAR Tools', but if you haven't; Open the chest and take out 3 Oak Wood Planks and 3 Sticks. Then go to the crafting table next to the chest and craft a Pickaxe.

Go to the sign labeled 'Time to Strike!' and open the chest and take out 2 Oak Wood Planks and a Stick. Then go to the crafting table next to the chest and craft a Sword.
Recipe (if needed):

You will unlock:
This achievement will unlock when any type of sword is made. Planks are not required for the unlock.

Go to the sign labeled 'Zombie Doctor' and open the chest and take out a Splash Potion of Weakness and a Golden Apple. Then go into the designated area and press the button located on the ground, which will make a Zombie Villager spawn in, then throw the Splash Potion of Weakness on it, then feed it the Golden Apple.
Note: You do not need to wait around for it to turn back into a villager.
You will unlock:

You have finished all the achievements in the initial 'Update Alpha 0.12.0' area, but there are still three more to get related to 'Update Alpha 0.12.0'. Go to the 'Update Alpha 0.12.0 Station', it is the Stone Brick building located behind spawn (Opposite side of the 'Update Alpha 0.12.0' area).

Go to the sign labeled 'On A Rail' and open the chest and take out a Minecart. Then place the Minecart on the rail and get in it, then move down the rail track until you get to the powered rails. From here sit back and enjoy the ride.
At the end of the track, you will unlock:

  • On A Rail

Travel by minecart to a point a least 500m in a single direction from where you started.

    On A Rail
Hop out and press the command block button to teleport back to the station.

'Adventuring Time'. There are two ways you can get this achievement. The teleporters or the rail system.
1. Teleporters - This is much quicker and a more efficient way to unlock this than the rail line.
To use the teleporters, go to the command block that has the sign labeled 'Adventuring Time' above it, and press the button. This will take you to a specific biome, to which you have another command block in front of you, which takes you to another biome and so forth. These teleporters take you to 55 biomes total, and you only need 17. So once you unlock it, you can just use the return teleporter (located to your left and right) to get back to the station. NOTE: You may need to explore a little bit of the area for the biome to count.
2. Rail Line - This is the old way to get the achievement, and mostly works for everyone.
Open the chest and take out a Minecart. Place the Minecart on the rail and get in it, then move down the rail track until you get to the powered rails. From here sit back and enjoy the ride. This ride takes 6 minutes to reach the very end. If you haven't visited any biomes before, you will unlock it at the very end. But if you have visited some biomes before, you will unlock it earlier. If that does happen, you can either stay on the track all the way to the end, or hop out and press one of the many command block buttons which are located every 100m next to the track line. Whether you press the button at the end of the line or anywhere on the track line, you will be teleported back to the station.
You will unlock:

You will also unlock 'On A Rail' sometime during the ride if you haven't already.
Note: The Nether Biomes (5), The End Biome, and the Ocean Biomes (9) also count towards this achievement.

'Passing the Time'. This is the final achievement that is part of the 'Update Alpha 0.12.0'.
For this achievement, you used to have to play somewhere between 17.56 to 33.33 hours depending on if you sleep at night or not (1 full in-game day is 20mins). But in the achievement world, there is a day accelerator going (this is always running - you don't need to do anything to activate this). 1 day is now 1m 53s. However, days being tracked by the achievement can be buggy and sometimes not count a day for some weird reason. This achievement now takes around 3h 30mins to do - that is 14 to 30 hours saved!
So if you still haven't gotten this achievement after doing all the previous achievements in 'Update Alpha 0.12.0', but have yet not finished all the other achievements in the additional Updates/DLC, continue playing as this will likely unlock on the way.

You will eventually unlock:

This achievement sometimes may not track a day.

Congratulations, you just finished the achievements related to 'Update Alpha 0.12.0'. Go to the next page for the achievements part of 'Update Alpha 0.14.0: Overworld Update'.
