Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) Walkthrough

4. Foxtales DLC

Note: Cultural Insight 1/5: “The Coastal Brothers” is already unlocked when you start Foxtales for the first time.

The Ocean

Select “Foxtales” from the main menu to start the DLC. As it’s been quite a while since the game was released, there’s thankfully a quick tutorial to remind you of the controls. Continue to the right, following the on-screen prompts, until you reach your boat.

Paddle to the right until you’re prompted to switch characters. Switch the Fox and swim under the boat. Swim down and to the right to reach the underwater spirit. Hold cn_X to drag the spirit down into the water then return to the boat.

You can now continue to the right. When you reach the next spirit, drag it upwards and it’ll push the boat through the gap. Drag the spirit back down and swim to the boat. Row the boat to the left then jump up to grab the owl. This will give you Cultural Insight 2/5: “Season of Life”. Once you’ve got it, you’ll likely need to drag the spirit back up again to push your boat back through to the right.

When the boat hits the ice, jump up and quickly follow the mouse across the platforms. You’ll fall into the water on the other side, so dive down with Fox and drag the spirit downwards to continue. Follow the water flows through the caves and you’ll reach a large cave.

Swim down to the bottom left and drag the spirit downwards to clear the way forwards. Drag the second spirit downwards to clear the path upwards – you need to circle around to the left to make it past the creature trying to stop you.

Once you’re back out of the water, you’ll reach some moving platforms. Jump up to the top platform and jump back into the water on the right. Swim downwards to find a tunnel leading down and to the right. Use the water currents to go to the right to enter another large cave.

Drag the first spirit upwards and exit the water into the little cave at the top for a short cutscene. A spirit will appear and drop an object for Nuna to pick up. Throw the object into the water and it’ll stop the third spirit below from blocking the way forward.

When you enter the next cave, swim up to the upper spirit with Nuna and take the object from its hands. Throw it into the water to your right so that it lands on the platform below, rolling to the left and blocking the gap. This will clear the way forwards and let you return to the surface.

Use the moving ice platforms to climb upwards and then head to the left. You’ll see the owl on the upper platform. To reach the owl, switch to Fox and jump on to the side of the platform with the owl on it, then quickly mash cn_A to run up to the owl. It’ll most likely take a couple of attempts, because the wall climb doesn’t work very well. This will give you Cultural Insight 3/5: “Ice Story”.

Jump across to the left and grab the object dropped by the spirit. Throw this down into your boat to free it. You can now head back to the right and jump into your boat. Row to the right and allow the current to take you. This will unlock:

Trying to Set Things Right in Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna)
Nuna and Fox continued after the Mouse. (Secret)

The River

Row to the right until you enter the village. Jump up to the spirit above you and grab the object it drops. Throw this down into your boat and paddle to the right. The screen will zoom out, showing you a blockage below. Place your boat over the blockage and throw the object over the side. This will break the blockage, allowing Fox to swim down and move the spirit in the bottom right. This will allow you to continue rowing onwards.

Soon, the screen will zoom out to show you two spirits and another blockage. Dive into the water as Fox and drag the spirit upwards. Climb up to the second spirit with Nuna and throw its object down at the first. This will break the blockage, allowing Fox to swim through and drag a third spirit out of the way. Return to the boat and continue onwards.

Soon you’ll row into some rapids. As you are dragged along, you need to jump up to the platform in front of you then back down into the boat on the other side. Continue on and the screen will zoom out again, revealing an underwater cave with a lot of blockages.

As Nuna, climb up the platforms to retrieve objects from the spirits. Grab the object from the upper-left spirit first and drop it down into your boat (from now on, the spirits above should automatically drop objects down to your boat if you position it in the centre of the area). Row your boat to the left and drop the object on to the left-most blockage. If one correctly, you’ll break the left blockage and the object will shoot across to the right and break the blockage over there as well.

Dive into the water as Fox and drag the right-most spirit upwards. Drop another object down into the current to break open another blockage. As Fox, drag the right-most spirit all the way down to create another water current. Drop another object in to smash the final blockage at the bottom.

Before going down into the hole, row over to the right until you are stopped. Switch to Fox and jump up on to the right-most platform. You should be able to hear the owl above you from here. Jump on to the wall on the right, then across to the wall on the left and then back to the right, where you can reach the owl. This will give you Cultural Insight 4/5: “The Provider”.

Swim down the hole with Nuna and you’ll be able to go to the left after only a short distance. Swim left (stick to the middle to avoid the creatures) for a very quick scene in the background. Now swim back and continue going downwards.

When you reach the underwater cave, drag the spirit upwards with Fox and the swim up the current as Nuna to reach the object in the small cave at the top. Throw the object into the water then quickly change to Fox and drag the spirit downwards. If done correctly, the object should be launched to the right by the upper current, then again by the lower current. This can be quite awkward as Fox has a habit of swimming into stupid places when you’re not in control of him. When done correctly, you’ll break the blockage in the bottom right and open the way forward.

Follow the current upwards to the surface then use Fox to drag the spirit you find downwards. Follow the current up to your boat and row to the right. This will unlock:

There Was a Village in Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna)
Nuna and Fox left the destroyed village behind. (Secret)

The Lake

Row to the right for a cutscene. Navigate your way to the right, avoiding the massive creature that tries to eat you. Swim to the right and drag the spirit upwards to clear the way forward. Drag the next spirit upwards to force the creature to move. Switch to Nuna and swim along the bottom to the left.

Once you’re past the creature, swim up to the platforms and jump over the creature’s head. Grab the object from the spirit and chuck it into the water. As it falls, quickly switch to Fox and drag the spirit downwards. This will blow the object across the floor to clear the blockage in the far left. Jump back across the platforms and drop into the water. Head left to the new water current and ride it upwards.

Swim to the left and drag the spirit upwards to blow your boat past the creature. Swim back and board your boat. Ride the rapids to your right and jump up on to the platform when it drops in front of you. Jump to the right and grab the creature’s tail to continue.

Row to the right until you are stuck in a cave again with the creature. Have Nuna jump up to the first platform and then dive into the water as Fox. Swim down and drag the spirit across to the right. The creature will move so quickly switch to Nuna and jump to the next platform. Once the spirit is all the way on the right, the boat will float to the left. When this happens, the creature will return to its previous location, allowing Nuna to jump and grab its tail.

Drag the spirit back to the left again and it’ll blow the boat straight past the creature to safety. Swim back to the boat with Fox and continue to the right. When you reach the large cave, have Fox swim down and move the spirit all the way to the right, causing the creature to change positions.

Switch to Nuna and use the platforms to reach the spirit on the right and take its object. Stand as far to the left of this platform as you can, ready to throw. Have Fox drag the spirit back to the left and it’ll shoot a jet of water at the creature. This will cause it to appear next to Nuna. Drag the spirit up so it creates another stream of water, slightly higher up.

Throw the object into the water then quickly have Fox drag the spirit back down once the object lands on the rock below. This should cause the creature to flee, but allow the object to break the blockage. Drag the spirit to where the blockage was and it’ll force the creature back up to the top.

Switch to Nuna, then climb your way up to grab its tail. Everything will begin to collapse so quickly jump from platform to platform, all the way to the top, then run to the right to escape. After the cutscene, you’ll receive Cultural Insight 5/5: “Respect for all Things”. You will also unlock:
