4. Omerta: City of Gangsters Combat and Multiplayer WalkthroughUpdate notes

Multiplayer:

There are two multiplayer modes and four missions (two each)

Co-op Missions include Jailbreak and Bank Heist. The Bank Heist is significantly easier than the Jailbreak. So, let's tackle the Bank Heist. Doesn't really matter who each player takes, but I will go with the first four of Squig, Doc, Daredevil, and Wolf. It's not necessary, but it helps to spend some money to get them to level 4 and/or buy upgraded weapons.

Keep in mind, these are just my tactics. There are many ways to approach this, here is one option.

Let us begin the mission - both teams spawn out front. Run everyone to the front door, but do not alert the guards. (Optionally, send Daredevil and Doc from one team around to the side door in front of the vault). Once the team is set up - burst through into the bank lobby and take out the three guards as quickly as possible. After this, set up for the reinforcements. Send both "Wolfs" back out front on the other side of the street behind the cars. Keep 1 Squigs and 1 Doc near the front door and send 1 Squigs, 1 Doc, and 2 Daredevils into the vault. Inside the vault are two additional guards, so take a couple of turns to get everyone set up.

Once your teams are set up, charge into the vault and take out the two guards - use the Daredevils to collect the loot. Start sending everyone out toward the front door escape points. Once the reinforcements arrive, start taking them out. As quickly as possible, since the longer you take - the better chance additional reinforcements from the back room and side parking lot start interfering.

The mission ends when all the loot and all non-incapacitated gangsters reach an exit point. At that point, the achievement will pop.

If you want to do this without boosting, just focus on leveling up your 4 favorite characters and purchase the "Unique" weapons they prefer. You will need a more sound strategy and better execution than your opponent.

Combat Achievements:

Most of the combat achievements can be obtained in either a multiplayer match or during the campaign. Since the campaign is pretty easy - give yourself a challenge and try these during the campaign. For time sake, go ahead and boost. I will split them into three categories - easier in Campaign, easier to Boost, and Either.

First things first - there are two achievements you have no control over. They are luck based, but there are ways to increase your chances.

Lucky Rabbit's Foot

Hit with an attack that has 5% hit chance

Lucky Rabbit's Foot
1 guideOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This one is easier because there are so many opportunities. The key is to take shots that do not impact your combat strategy.

1) Take any shot that you can when ending that gangster's turn. There is no ammo and no reloading - so take any shot without "aiming". Just look for 5% chance to hit and give it a whirl. The only suggestion is do not "alert" an unaware enemy with a low chance shot and do not put yourself into precarious positions just to take a pot shot - it's not worth it.

2) Hope for a random event. Revolver retaliations count, or use area of attack shots like the Tommy gun or shotgun against a primary target with the far end of the template touching long range enemies.

Jinxed

Miss with an attack that has 95% hit chance.

Jinxed
1 guideOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This one is a little more difficult to set up, because it requires getting to 95% chance to hit - then of course missing that shot. Here are some suggestions to get 95%.

1) Point Blank/Melee Range - increases chance to hit and removes cover bonuses

2) Low AP weapons - Knuckles (3 AP), Pistols (3 AP)

3) High AP gangster - select character perks to increase AP, or transfer unused AP or MP.

4) Dead Eye Perk - repeated attacks against the same target gain +10% to hit (up to +30%)

5) Vulnerable - increase chance to hit against opponent.

You could set up a boosting scenario to create this opportunity, but it may happen during the campaign as well.

Campaign

No Place to Hide

Destroy 4 cover objects with a single shotgun attack

No Place to Hide
1 guideOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This requires a gangster with a shotgun - look for a large collection of crates - like warehouse levels - and point blank range a shotgun blast. You need at least four, but the more crates, the better the chance that at least 4 will be destroyed.

One Shot, One Kill

Kill an enemy at full health with a single attack

One Shot, One Kill
1 guideOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This works best in the campaign as some enemies will have less life and your gangsters level up faster. Big Man's (or another strong character with a bat) homerun swing is probably the easiest, but a rifle shot with a critical hit works too.

Spreading the Love

Hit 5 characters with an area attack

Spreading the Love
4 guidesOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

There are multiple times during the campaign where a large group of enemies congregate. In particular, the showdown at the end of the first act in Virginia avenue. The start of that mission has everyone standing near the cars to attack - simply throw a grenade so the area of attack encompasses 5 enemies - it will pop once tossed. The grenade does not have to explode to get the achievement - you just need 5 enemies in the circle.

Run, Coward!

Intimidate a panicked enemy

Run, Coward!
1 guideOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This achievement requires the perk "Intimidate". Once an enemy has their courage down to "0" - they become panicked and get a little icon indicating such. At this point, simply use the ability on said enemy. "Juliet" happens to start with this ability.

Blood Red Eyes

Use Rage 3 times with the same character in a single battle

Blood Red Eyes
1 guideOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

Similar to the above achievement is one which requires a little more effort - find a gangster with the perk "Rage". Once the battle begins, go ahead and use it (so you don't forget). This ability becomes available after that gangster records a kill, so weaken the remaining enemies and allow this specific gangster to finish off the enemy to recharge his "Rage" ability. Use it the same turn if you have the AP for it. Rinse and repeat a third time for the achievement.

Last Man Standing

Win a combat encounter with three incapacitated gang members at the end

Last Man Standing
1 guideOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This may happen naturally, but if you are playing on "Easy" - the combats would not be terribly challenging. That being said, here is how you set up this scenario: Wipeout all but one enemy, let that last enemy take out every gangster except one, then finish him off for the achievement. Improve your chances one on one by weakening the last enemy before having your team incapacitated.

That's Got to Hurt

Inflict 100 damage or more to an enemy with a single attack

That's Got to Hurt
2 guidesOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This achievement works best done at the end of the campaign. Using a leveled up "Big Man" equipped with a baseball bat. The key is to get an enemy "Vulnerable" to improve Big Man's chance to hit +10%. Even with this and aiming I could only get Big Man up to 70% chance to hit. Suffice it to say - use the "Skull Crush" swing and hope you get the required 100 points of damage. Personally it took me three swings (89 points, miss, then 106 points of damage).

Keep in mind, you can also "Respec" Big Man to improve his chance to hit - however I just picked up the stock character and ran with it just fine.

Boost

Fire in the Hole!

Hit an enemy with a grenade

Fire in the Hole!
1 guideOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This one is very easy to boost, but if you are trying in the campaign - it works best on a mission with tons of bad guys. The grenade will trigger before all of the enemies can react and escape the area of attack. A level 4 Wolf has a grenade attack ability.

Home Run

Damage 2 enemies with a single bat attack

Home Run
1 guideOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This requires two opponents to enter melee range of a gangster with a baseball bat. Big Man starts with a bat, but you also get two in the campaign as Unique weapons. Use the Home Run Swing and hit at least 2 enemies.

Patched Up

Remove 2 negative conditions with First Aid

Patched Up
2 guidesOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This achievement is far away much easier to boost than try in the campaign. The reason being is that it requires a gangster to have at least 2 negative conditions (which the AI tends not to cooperate - they would rather just stab you to death) and subsequently use "First Aid" talent (Wolf starts with this). The negative conditions could be "Crippled", "Weakness", "Bleeding", etc. ("Panicked" does not count - as it cannot be healed).

In a boost session, have your partner with knives and knuckles. Be sure to include "Wolf" for his "First Aid" ability. Have your boosting partner inflict two of the conditions mentioned earlier - "Weakness" and "Crippled" can be from the knuckles alone. Once afflicted, have Wolf walk up and use his ability.

Three Birds with One Stone

Kill 3 enemies with a single attack

Three Birds with One Stone
1 guideOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This is another easy boost, but could also be done in the campaign if you are quite adept with the Grenade. Using the grenade is the easiest as I has the highest damage for an area attack, so use that in your boosting session - just get the opponents down to around 20-30 hit points and congregate in the Grenade explosion radius.

You can use anything with an area of attack - Tommy Gun, Shotgun, Firebomb, etc. - and just weaken a group of three enemies - use Vulnerability or "Respec" to have high chance to hit and hope you can get enough damage to kill three. It can be done, but if you can't get during one playthrough on the campaign - find a boosting partner and save yourself some grief.

Either

Back In Action

Bandage an incapacitated character

Back In Action
2 guidesOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This requires one gangster with the Bandage ability - "Doc" starts with it. Once a different gangster goes down, have Doc run over to melee range of the downed gangster and use the Bandage ability.

Easy as One-Two

Kill 2 enemies in the same turn with a pistol

Easy as One-Two
1 guideOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

You will probably get this in the campaign, but the key is to get at least 2 enemies damaged enough to where 1 or 2 shots would take them out. The pistol uses very little AP, so you may have up to 4 shots a turn, just kill two enemies in one turn.

Knuckle Sandwich

Hit 3 different enemies in the same turn with knuckles

Knuckle Sandwich
1 guideOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

Daredevil starts with knuckles and as she levels up, has a ton of movement points. Let the enemies get close enough together and start wailing. Remember, you may move after a knuckle attack, so if you start in melee range - hit the first guy, move to the second, hit, then the third. You do not need to kill with the hit, but you do need to hit. Swinging and missing will not count - the attacks need to land.

Slice and Dice

Hit an enemy with the Slice and Dice knife attacks in the same turn

Slice and Dice
2 guidesOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

Another easy combat achievement. Use a knife as a weapon - get to melee range - choose Slice attack then Dice attack. Both attacks must land in the same turn to get the achievement.

Do NOT Mess with Me!

Kill an enemy with a revolver retaliation shot

Do NOT Mess with Me!
1 guideOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This one technically is a "luck" based achievement, but you can increase your chances by weakening the enemy, staying close to increase the chance to hit, and having the attacker in the open away from cover. Set up this scenario in a boost match and you should get it - no problem.

Close and Personal

Win a combat encounter with 4 characters in your party wielding melee weapons

Close and Personal
3 guidesOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This was fun to do in the campaign, since you will have at least 4 unique melee weapons - load up your gangsters and give it a whirl. NOTE: Having a character "Support" your mission will not satisfy the requirements of this achievement apparently.

Watch your Step!

Shove an enemy within the area of a fire bomb

Watch your Step!
2 guidesOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This requires two abilities: Fire Bomb and Shove - Romeo starts off with a Fire Bomb, Daredevil gets Shove (as well as others). It works best in a close quarters or building environment. Throw the fire bomb at your enemies and place it so that your enemies would move to the side closest to your gangster with shove. The enemy will flee the area of effect and your "Shove" gangster can run up and push them back into the fire bomb. They last 3 turns, so you've got a chances to get it to work.

It's a Trap!

Damage an enemy with a booby trap

It's a Trap!
1 guideOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This achievement requires the "Booby Trap" perk. Looney starts with one. The key is to find a place that an enemy will walk over. Doorways are great or at a corner you can coax an enemy to follow. These natural choke points funnel enemies to a predictable path - set the trap and run away to entice the enemy to follow and hopefully step on your trap. This may take a couple of tries in a campaign mission. Otherwise you could always set a boost session and just tell your opponent where to walk.

Shooting Fish in a Barrel

Hit 3 vulnerable enemies with a single Tommy Gun attack

Shooting Fish in a Barrel
2 guidesOnline/OfflineSingle PlayerCooperativeVersus

This one took me a while to set up during the campaign, but could be set up in a boosting session as well. My suggestion is to equip three gangsters with knives and one with a tommy gun. Have your partner group at least 3 gangsters together; however, all four would increase your chances. Use the "Slice" attacks to cause "Vulenability" then unload with a tommy gun spray hoping to hit 3 enemies.

In the campaign, it can be done with just one character equipped with a Tommy Gun. The attack "Suppressive Fire" will cause vulnerability with a successful hit, it's just tough to hit all three enemies (improve your chances by trying to hit more than three enemies in the attack cone). Another helpful ability is the "Spot Target" talent which has 100% to hit and causes vulnerability. This can be used to get anyone missed, but it's tough to get the timing to work out with enemies not moving out of the way. Good Luck.
