3. OutRun Online Arcade Story walkthroughUpdate notes

So among all the achievements that can be earned in this game, there are 3 which can be earned in a short period of time. You can consider this as a practice run for when you do the other achievements in the game.

First you will focus on getting this achievement. It requires you to successfully arrive at all 5 Goals that are in the game. As you race through the game, you will end up at one of these 5 Goal areas, as they are the final race parts in the game. The Goal area you will reach will depend upon the routes you have taken at the start of the race. For instance if you choose the left route all the way along, you would end up at Goal A. If you went right all the way, you would end up at Goal E. But if you went left first, then right, then right, then left, you would end up at Goal C. The game features a Route picture on the left side of the screen and every time you choose a route, it will highlight the route you have taken in Yellow. Overall this achievement will take you about 30 Mins - 1 Hour and it will be 5/50 races done towards the "Frequent Flyer" achievement.

Tip: It is best to do this achievement in the "OutRun" Game Mode as you can attempt to get the Millionaires Club achievement at the same time.

Despite the fact that you're focusing on the Grand Tour Achievement, this will probably be your first achievement you will get in the game, as completing a race in Automatic Transmission you will get this achievement.

It’s also a good idea to complete one of these races in Manual Transmission to get the other achievement out of the way. When racing in manual, you just simply press cn_A to go up a gear and cn_B to go down a gear. An idea to help you get this achievement if you're stuck is to race in Time Trial Mode and select the Tuned Car option.

Many have considered this to be the hardest achievement in the game, but all I can say is the only way you're going to get it is to practice the same route, again and again, because you will get used to the route and eventually overcome it.

There is a feature in the game called Heart Attack Mode. The goal of the game is to build up a relationship with your girlfriend by completing the requirements she asks for. This includes passing cars, drifting, avoiding cars and other requirements. Each time you succeed in your requirement, you'll receive a Heart and when you pass a red "End" Logo, your girlfriend will grade you depending on how many hearts you receive. The highest grade is AAA which will have all the hearts round in a circle. The lowest is E. To get this achievement, you will need to get grade AAA on all the routes you take, which is ridiculously hard.

The easiest route to take when doing this achievement is going left once, and then right all the rest of the way. This should take you to...

  1. Sunny Beach
  2. Bay Area
  3. Big Forest
  4. Ice Scape
  5. Milky Way

Whilst I managed to gain the experience with the first 3 routes, I personally had a hard time with the Ice Scape, in which you had to pass the convoys. The bit that got me was the corner that has a tunnel passage going right. I don't know how I passed it, but I do remember braking a bit in order to go through the tunnel without crashing on the corner of the wall.

Expect to spend a bit of time getting this achievement. To help you understand the routes in this game mode, I have provided you with a video below. Credit goes to AODFox...

Here is another hard achievement for you to do in the game. It's not as heartbreaking as Cardiogram, but it will sure give you a pain in your head after a short while.

You now need to go into Time Attack Mode and complete a standard course in less than 4 Minutes, 30 Seconds. This is tough because for me, I managed to get it done at 4 Minutes 29 Seconds (and 30 milliseconds).

The best way into getting these Time Attack achievements is to select the F40 Ferrari Car and tuning it. If you Tune the car it will make the car slightly more difficult to turn and maneuver, but it will also prevent the car from dropping its speed dramatically, since it will remain at approximately 180 - 186 MPH. The F40 Ferrari Car is the best choice for doing these Time Attack achievements and the reason is that the F40 only has 5 Gear Changes. An F50 has 6 Gears and the maximum speed for both cars is still 180 - 186 MPH. So why have a car with 6 gears instead of 5?

Time Attack Mode consists of just you, the track and 2 Ghost Vehicles which will represent the time which has been allotted for each specific route on the track. To put it simply, if you can manage to keep up with these Ghost Vehicles or overtake them at any time, you will get a good time score for each route.

Overall the best way into getting this achievement is to just keep practicing. Learn the routes and try not to make the car lose too much speed. Even losing 30 MPH around the corner could cost you a second or two which makes a big difference. Here is a video which will help you get an idea of how you can get this achievement. If you manage to successfully get the "Passing Breeze" Achievement, I would say you are ready to try and get the "Gumball King". I second this as the hardest achievement to earn in the game. This is an intense achievement which requires time and skill in order to achieve.

Now instead of 5 traditional routes you can choose from, the game will now place all 15 routes in an order fashion in which you must successfully travel through and reach the goal within acquire a very fast time score. Worst of all the achievement requires you to complete all of it in 14 Minutes 30 Seconds.

Now here are a couple pointers to take. First whilst there are still 2 routes you can take (left and right), both of them will lead you to the same areas. So an example would be if you exited the Sunny Beach area and headed left, or right, they will both take you to the Bay Area. You may want to keep this in mind as you are racing, because if you are on the right side, there is no point in going left.

Second you'll need to try and get a time score of at least 50 - 59 seconds for nearly all of the routes to guarantee a chance in getting this achievement. I flopped on one route as I did it in 1 Min 3 Seconds, but the rest of the occasions I did it in like 56, 57, or 58 seconds.

Last if you feel you have made a big mistake and you are not convinced you will reach the end within the time limit, restart the race. There is no point in wasting your time traveling to the finish, if you don't think you're going to make it on time.

Since there are no vehicles for you to overtake in the Time Trial Modes, it is possible that you will drive at top speed for a good period of time. This achievement requires you to reach a speed of 186.4 MPH and keep hold of that speed for 10 seconds. The easiest way to achieve is to drive straight on the Bay View Bridge. It's a bridge which looks like the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, so it's hard to miss it.

If you're still unsure as to where the Bay View Bridge is, here is a video I've provided. Credit goes to 360Awards...

You will be returning to the OutRun Game Mode, but this time you will be attempting to rack up a high score of 1 Million Points. The trick is to drive well and pass as many cars as you can.

The first thing you must do is change your difficulty to either Easy or Normal. Changing it to one of these difficulties will bring out more vehicles for you to overtake and this is what you need, because the more you can overtake, the better as it gives out more points.

Now the way that the points are awarded in the OutRun Mode is simple. For every moment you are driving on the road, you get 1 Point and this actually goes up quite fast. But if you drive off the road and onto grass or dirt, give yourself a quick bump against the wall, your points will freeze until you return onto the road. You need to keep in mind as well that you also don't want to crash and make the car spin, because if you do you will lose all of the cars which are driving in that area, preventing you from getting more points.

Every time you pass a vehicle in the game, you will gain additional points. You get more if you pass a vehicle which is bigger and if you are on a slipstream. But the ones which give you out the most points are the "Rival" cars. These cars are the exact same as yours. If you pass these rivals without crashing into them, you can rack up a high score. Some of them can even give you a bonus of 50,000 Points if you're on a slipstream.

The trick is to just concentrate on your driving and overtake any vehicles you see in sight. It doesn't matter which route you want to take, so feel free to pick any route you wish. My advice would be to just go left since it's easier.

You will now need to do the OutRun Mode again, but in a Continuous formation. Like the "Gumball King" achievement, you will be driving on all 15 Courses and your goal will be to get a score of 2.5 Million Points. Compared to the other achievements this one isn't too bad. As long as you keep yourself on the road and pass as many rival cars as you can, you'll be fine.

In my opinion I would actually save this achievement until last, since it will take a little while to do. To get this achievement you just need to complete 50 Single Player Races. This means you must start the race and reach one of the goals at the end of the final routes. Once done that will count as 1 of your 50 Single Player Races. However if you have been working on the other achievements before this though, you will have done at least 15 - 20 already towards this achievement. You may have even more than that if you decided to complete all the races in the previous game modes, rather than restarting them.

I would suggest you just continuously play OutRun Game Modes since they are the easiest. Each Single Race will take approximately 5 Minutes, so this achievement will likely take about 3 - 4 hours to do. Take note that if you restart the race, it doesn't count towards the achievement. You have to complete the race in order for it to be counted. Make sure that the game returns to the main menu and it gets saved just in case.

There are only 2 online achievements you will need to get in this game. The good news is that they only take about an hour to achieve and you only need 1 additional person to help you. The bad news is that since the game is de-listed, finding a partner to help you might be a challenge.

Once you have a partner and you're ready to get these online achievements, get one of you to set up a Private Match and invite the other person to join.

Now to get this achievement, you've got to successfully win 5 races in a row. This means that the one who is going for this achievement, must be first at all times and pass each route in 1st place. It is best that the loser simply just stays idle for the entire race and lets the winner cross the finish line.

The online game mode on OutRun Online Arcade is the same as the OutRun Game Modes in Single Player, but you will only have one route you can choose from instead of 2. One of them will be blocked by a gate.

Overall for both players, this achievement will take around an hour to do. Make sure that whilst you are doing this that the winner always drives first through each route junction. Neither of you should quit the game and the loser always stays in 2nd place, because if you did one of these things, it could break the winning streak and make the process even longer.

As you are going for the "Leader" achievement, you will get this one too. To get this you just simply need to be 1st place at the end of all route junctions, which is what you are doing anyway. This will unlock near the end of the race.

You should now have 200G in OutRun Online Arcade. Well done, I think you deserve a kiss from that girlfriend now, don't you?

Conclusion

OutRun Online Arcade isn't a bad game, but it will annoy you from time to time if you are going for the Time Trial Achievements, as even a simple mistake can make a big difference. My advice to you if you have this game is to bring a supply of your own music, because the game will eventually get you bored when you are going for the "Frequent Flyer" achievement. If you decide to go for the achievements in this game, I wish you the very best of luck. You'll need it.
