I was quite surprised when I saw this game on the Xbox Store.
After playing "Super Pang" in the nineties, this brought back some memories.
This game is said to be an "Xbox One Port", not sure what this means since it came out exactly on the same day, 19 of April 2016 on both Xbox One and Steam, but I can only assume that it was developed by DotEmu, Published by Pastagames, and ported to the XB1 by Neko Entertainment (this is based on Credits info, not store page).
Now into the game itself.
The game contains 3 play modes:
- Tour Mode
- Score Mode
- Panic Mode
Tour Mode is a world map where you travel from city to city and complete the various stages.
Score Mode is locked until you complete the Tour Mode, and it is something of an Arcade version where you have lives and have to push as far as possible.
Panic Mode has levels and it is filled with interesting features and power ups.
Now, personally, I can say that I love the game, and to be honest, from all the game frenzy that has filled our lives lately, it is good to see a solid, fun game that we can have on our library and one that actually has replay value.
The game is very straight-forward and doesn't let you setup many options, just basic things such as in-game volume.
The biggest drawback I see - and this is specially for the Xbox - is that apparently there is no Online Co-Op. If we compare the Steam and Xbox pages we see that this section is missing on the Xbox:
"Online Co-op: show off your skills and compete with your worldwide friends to see who can down the most balls!"
I really do hope that they implement this in the future as it is a must nowadays, so we can play with friends, after which I would be able to give it maximum score.Update:
Reply from DotEmu on Online Co-Op for the Xbox:
"Unfortunately no, we do not plan to add online multiplayer to the XBox One version of the game, sorry."
