SIMPLE AND EASY ACHIEVEMENTS
By simple I don't mean quick and easy to do, I mean these will just happen through natural gameplay without extra effort. Basically, as long as you play these are unmissable. I will place some tips on how it might be made easier from my own personal experience.
Jump out from an airplane 101 times.
This is just from playing rounds. Each time a round starts you will all be in the same plane that's in flight over the map, giving you a full choice of where you want to land. After jumping from the plane with you can increase your drop speed by going into a deep dive by using the and together. If you hit the limit where your parachute opens automatically, then you will rapidly slow down for a safe landing, this is the fastest way to the ground. By combining different angles of each analog stick, you can drop quite fast at an angle aiming for a specific building or town, try to be at minimum one hundred meters from the spot you want to land. Or you can look towards the horizon in the distance, aiming for a further building whilst falling slower through the air putting greater distance between yourself and many other players in potential hot drops.
Jumping out of the plane will count towards this achievement. The custom games mode's do not count, as with every achievement, it's only linked to the main Battle Royal game mode. There is no real reason to boost this as many other achievements will pop way WAY after this will pop. As I write this I am at 1,584 rounds, so there is no need to boost anything for this achievement.
These should be fairly simple and should be happening as often as you dare to. Which hopefully will be more and more frequent as you build your skill for playing the game. All that is required to eliminate enemy players, it doesn't matter how you get the kill as long as you are credited for the kill. If you even punch them down in Duo or Squads and they drop into the water and drown, you get the kill. If you hit a guy and he flies away into a long drop, hits the floor hard and dies, you get the kill. If you are struggling to get used to the aiming because of how short firefights are, my average fight lasts between 4 seconds to 30 seconds in solos, so there's not much room to practice in a proper game, but that's where the new Arcade mode and TDM come into play. Nothing there will count towards achievements, but it is a great place to practice fights.
In duo and Squad modes, if you have taken enough damage and your health drops down to 0 then you are going into a "Down But Not Out" (referred to from now on as "down" or "downed") state. In this mode you will start to "bleed out" and you will see your health bar ticking away. If a teammate can get to you, you can be picked up and carry on fighting. This will happen a lot, once you get into fights people go down, a lot. I just hope it's not you. This takes 10 seconds to revive a squad member so make sure you have taken out the enemies or are sure you have the time to pick them up. If you see a revive happening for an enemy squad, a frag will ensure two kills right there in duos (in duos, a team will be wiped if they are all down), one kill guaranteed for squads (the down player will die, the standing player will be downed). Keep a mental note of how many times you get downed, you can only be picked up twice, a third time at 0 health, you will just be eliminated from the game.
MOSTLY NORMAL GAMEPLAY ACHIEVEMENTS
By this I mean this requires using specific gear or weapons that will be used to unlock these achievements that cannot be earned without using the appropriate gear.
WEAPON SPECIFIC TARGETS
Kill 10 players with an assault rifle and/or a sniper rifle from over 100 meters away.
Kill 30 players with an assault rifle and/or a sniper rifle from over 100 meters away.
Kill 100 players with an assault rifle and/or a sniper rifle from over 100 meters away.
Assault Rifles that all count towards these achievements.
AKM, AUG A3, Beryl M762, G36C, Groza, M16A4, M416, MK47 Mutant, Scar-L, QBZ95.
Sniper Rifles that all count towards these achievements.
AWM, Karabiner 98 Kurz, M24, Winchester Model 1894.
Keep in mind that for ALL of the "Marksman" achievements, it has to be at over 100 meters away for it to count, so you will need to engage in the range of at least one square on the mini-map. To easily see if they are at least 100 meters is to look at the mini-map in the corner of the screen. You will see the grid lines that are spaced by 100-meter squares along the vertical and horizontal axis, diagonally is about 140 metes, so the overall area you can see on the mini-map is about a three hundred meter range diagonally from the center, where you are. In the clip below of the sniper headshot, you can see the building he is running towards, which is in the 200-meter distance from where I am. It gives you a perfect 200-meter range for it to count towards the relevant achievements. Look in the Hints and Tips page for a more detailed look at the mini-map.
Kill 10 players with a shotgun, a submachine gun, and/or a pistol.
Kill 50 players with a shotgun, a submachine gun, and/or a pistol.
Kill 200 players with a shotgun, a submachine gun, and/or a pistol.
Shotguns that count towards this achievement.
DBS, S12K, S1897, S686, Sawed-Off.
Submachine guns that count towards this achievement.
Micro UZI, MP5K, PP-19 Bizon, Tommy Gun, UMP 45, Vector.
Pistols that count towards this achievement.
P1911, P92, 9mm, R1895, P18C, R45, Skorpion, Deagle.
Unlike the "Marksman" line of achievements, this doesn't have a range requirement, so this is easier to do as most fights happen at about 50 meters. Because of that SMG's are my preferred weapon type to use overall. To make this easier on yourself you can just use the ones that you personally like. Many weapons have different stats, some are "better" than others, but it all comes down to what you yourself want to use, try them all and get a good flow going with one, you will find it.
Shotguns can be devastating at very close quarters, however, and rather obviously, at the longer ranges, they suffer. Making these weapons excellent for a hot drop or town final phases. Most can one-shot a player with no armour and are also quite hard to use, as you probably won't get much of a chance to get a third or fourth shell off. Make them count.
DO NOT neglect pistols. They are small sidearms that have their own slot in your inventory, so fill it. They also use the same ammo types, .45 and 9MM, as most SMG weapons use, so chances are you already have the ammo for the weapons. I cannot count the number of times I needed an extra few bullets to finish a fight and saving my ass from dying before they finish reloading. My preferred pistol is the P1911. Nice power in those little .45 rounds and since the gun can fire at a decent speed, it can take a player down quickly enough to count as a viable weapon.
This is a pain the in backside one. I found it very hard to use a Crossbow, but if you can find a stationary player, it will likely be a one-hit kill, unless you hit the arms or legs. There's no noise from it so you will probably be able to get a few shots off before they notice you are firing at them. If you struggle for this one, I recommend just dropping with the AFK players who either quit out or not loaded in yet. Hope you find a crossbow nearby and take them out, this happens way more often than you think it might and will score you some easy kills for any of the weapons that you need to finish off. I found the best map to be doing this on is still the Desert map Miramar. It's an unpopular map so loads of players will often just quit out upon seeing the map. Personally, I like its focus on long-range combat.
This requires timing and skill. Rounds need to travel to their targets and will be affected by gravity so there will be drop at long range. So account for the movement of the target and the distance if it is quite a long-range. But anything up to about 200 meters will be minimal drop. But the timing is the most important. It will need some getting used to for giving the round time to travel to the target, so it might be best to look for a target not moving just to make things easier, there's no rush for these achievements so take your time and make that first shot count because you might not get another chance. But the biggest tip of all, when at the range, remember to zero your scope. If you are firing at a target at 300 meters, set your scope to 300M. Then your scope will counter the drop and allow you to keep the crosshairs on the target, not above. To zero an 8x, 12x or 15x scope, simply tap and to adjust the range accordingly. Just remember that a scope set to 400M and you end up aiming at a target only 200 meters away, your shot will go over their heads and will completely miss, so remember to reset to 100M after you finish aiming.
This is a short video of a clean headshot I made from around 200 meters. The scope was set to 100M so I had to counter the drop a small amount. This is just to give you an idea of how timing is crucial and that the drop is not as important at this range.
Frag grenades are the only thing to use to unlock these achievements. There's not really much point in going out of your way to unlocking these as, like nearly every other achievement, they are mostly down to your skill in using them or rather your persistence in using them. There are two ways to throw a frag. One is a normal high toss that can throw long distances or a short underhanded toss which is useful for clearing rooms or tossing through damaged doors. To use them is quite simple, hold to ready to throw the grenade, whilst holding you can tap on to pull the pin on the grenade, starting the 5-second fuse. So let go of to throw it. Lastly whilst holding you can pull on to swap between which throwing mode you will use, indicated by your character's arm positioning. To most ensure a kill, try to pull the pin and hold for about 2 or 3 seconds before throwing it, gives little to no time to react to the primed frag going through a window.
Most games on PUBG will result in a loss, but that doesn't mean you should go out without a bang. I am always cheeky with the grenades. If I know that I am gonna lose a fight, be it through lack of ammo, no healing time, or just straight out skilled. I will always die with a pinned grenade ready to detonate if they try to loot me too fast. They kill me with the grenade ready to blow, come to loot me, and die to my frag, which when I last checked (at least in October of 2019 anyway, would love confirmation for this guide) still counted as a frag kills on the counters.
HEALING ITEMS AND VARIOUS GEAR
Charge your boost gauge to the max with energy drink and painkiller overdose.
There are two bars relating to your health that you need to be aware of at all times.
This is where all the important info you need can be seen at a glance, I will cover the HUD in the Hints and Tips pages more in-depth. The health bar is the thick bar and the energy bar is the thin yellow bar. The yellow bar is built up using energy drinks, painkillers, and adrenaline shots. Each one takes a different amount of time to use and boost different amounts. Energy drinks only add up to 40% and take 4 seconds to use. Painkillers pop up to around 60% and require 6 seconds of use. Finally, the Adrenaline Syringe does the full 100% and takes 6 seconds to be used. You need to get the bar to 100% for this to pop. So consuming some Painkillers then an Energy Drink right away after should get this to pop. Two packs of painkillers will also reach 100%. or single use of an Adrenaline Syringe will also fill the bar causing the achievement to unlock instantly. You can also unlock this is by using three energy drinks to pop up to 100%, the extra 20% from the last drink is wasted as you cannot hold more than 100% energy at any time so consider how much "space" you have left before chugging a bottle of pills or energy drink.
You will probably be best to grind this out by finding AFK players who have already left or not loaded in yet (this does still happen on the older base Xbox One), they will just be kicked out of the plane at the end of the flight path and land somewhere nearby, or end up drowning in the water nearby. But chances are you might get an opportunity for a fistfight on a hot drop, You can often find players fighting for a weapon right after a drop, so have a bit of fun and jump in on whomever you think is the better fighter, as long as you land the final blow it counts.
The sound it makes when you clap a player on the head with a pan is just neat. To do this you will first need to find a pan, good luck with this one, as I cannot tell you where anything will spawn in each round, Pans can be found anywhere, just like all melee weapons there's no rhyme or reason to where they are, they just are there. If you manage to find one, you will need to get a kill with it, I don't think throwing the weapon would unlock this achievement, (throwing wasn't an option when I unlocked this so confirmation would be nice). My brother told me he unlocked his achievement when I downed a player and he finished him off, earning the achievement.
Equip a suppressed weapon in every weapon slot.
This can be either really annoyingly hard, or you will do it by accident. Suppressors are found, again at random, in the field and will be one of the most highly valued items in the game. It will minimize the sounds made from the weapons so you can remain undetected for longer. There are three different types. One that will fit on Sniper Rifles and Designated Marksman Rifles, one for Sub Machine Guns and Handguns, finally the one for Assault Rifles, Designated Marksman Rifles and weirdly an S12K, the auto shotgun. You will need any combination of the below to get a loadout of all three weapons that are suppressed to unlock this achievement.
Suppressor for AR, DMR S12K- AKM, AUG A3, Beryl M762, G36C, Groza, M16A4, M416, Mini 14, Mk14 EBR, Mk47, S12K, SCAR-L, SKS, SLR, QBU Mk47, QBZ95.
Suppressor for DMR, SR- AWM, Kar98k, M24, Mini 14, Mk14 EBR, SKS, SLR, QBU.
Suppressor for Handgun, SMG- Micro UZI, MP5K, P18C, P1911, P92, PP-19 Bizon, R1895, Skorpion, Tommy Gun, UMP45, Vector.
Keep in mind for the bonus weapons, the VSS and the crossbow, as they are silent by nature and do not require a suppressor for them. They still count as a silent weapon and will require you to find one, or two, less suppressors, so grab them if you need this unlocked. Once you have two main weapons and a handgun all suppressed, this achievement will pop.
Kill 50 players with suppressed weapons.
Since we are on the topic of suppressors, you will then need to get a bunch of kills using these weapons. To make progress for this achievement you must gain kills using the suppressed weapons. 50 kills is a relatively small number of kills and should be fairly simple to achieve. Any suppressed weapon, including the VSS, will make progress as long as you get the credit for the kill. I find it best to just grab all the 9MM ammo you find and hope you find a VSS, get an extended clip for it, taking the original 10 rounds up to 20, and it's a decent weapon for close range up to about 200M remaining an effective weapon. Add in the little bonus for little to no damage drop at any range, its quite useful.
A fairly simple event. Once you have eliminated a player, once its safe to loot them go over and look through their box, swap out all of your clothes for everything they had equipped. From masks to boots you need to wear it all, once done this achievement will pop. The fastest way to do this is to stand near the box, hit the button then go down the list of items they had and hit to equip their clothing, make sure you get it all. This should pop instantly so feel free to get your own threads back if you want to.
GEAR FROM CARE PACKAGE
I put this here because the care packages are the quickest, if most dangerous, way to earn this achievement, as nearly every care package comes with level 3 helmet, vest and bag. But since you are not the only players constantly looking for these items expect a fight. It is possible now to find the gear outside in the world as a rare spawn. So if you happen to come across one, there's literally no reason not to pick it up. Check on the player crates for any gear that may have been left behind. Even if they are already damaged they still count, so if you have a level 3 bag from a random find, and come across a player box with a damaged helmet and vest, chances are they are more damaged than what the killer had, and left them behind. So put them on and the achievement will pop for wearing all three level 3 items. But once again, just don't stress about finding that last item, a care package is what you should be looking for if you want to grind this as past as possible.
If you keep your eyes on the skies you will hear it before you see it. Cargo planes do often pass through the skies and drop cargo in the form of care packages. These include the games highest tier weapons, from a fully automatic DMR (Mk14 EBR) to the one shot beast of a rifle (AWM). It will also be hiding away a level 3 Helmet, Vest and Bag, as mentioned above. A decent chance for a ghillie suit, as mentioned below and can hold a variety of scopes, low chance of a 4x against a higher chance for an 8x or even a 15x scope. You can often find some healing items, adrenaline syringe and med kits. All you have to do it to take everything from every box until you get this achievement, there's no fast way to do this, unless you watch the skies like a hawk until a plane comes to drop something off. The drops can be anywhere along the planes path with zero indications its even going to drop one. They only drop within the current safe zone. Good luck with this one, its gonna take a while so once again I cannot stress you not going out of your way to try and grind this one out.
This is one of the few items that is only available through an airdrop in a car package. So guess what your gonna need to do. Yep, kill the players who have one equipped. This is the easiest way to get a hold of one without waiting for another air drop for just a chance at a ghillie suit even if you win a fight that could happen from it dropping. Obviously this is harder than you think as the player blends in so well with the grass they can hide quite easily if you miss. If you do win the fight and steal the ghillie suit, this will unlock the achievement. But as with the achievement above you should be hitting the care packages to get some progress for the above achievement which will likely have a suit in there at some point.
VEHICLE RELATED FUN
Hitting 10 players is harder that you think, as most players will not be waiting out in the open field waiting to be ran over. Most will be hiding in cover safe from vehicles and bullets alike. The map to best do this I would say are Mirimar and Erangel. Both have vast areas of open terrain to be ran across as the circles shrink over time. So grab some gear, find some extra gas and grab a UAZ if you can find one, they have armour and take less damage compared to most vehicles. The problem with this is that you're driving a car and not shooting, also vehicles are so loud you can hear them coming a mile away. They are walking which does make them slower but they can shoot you as you try to run them over. Cars only take so much damage before blowing up which will kill you if you are near it when it blows up. Even in squad and duo games, explosions from vehicles is nearly always fatal.
Kill 10 players with a gun while in a vehicle.
Ah yes, my final achievement, and what a pain in the backside its going to be. Sorry, but its true. Aiming from vehicles is not easy and you really are best off just trying to blow up the enemy vehicles if you get into a chance. If you're a more solo player then here's a few tips for you. Swap seats like your life depends on it, because it does. Get used to aiming from third person if you're trying to kill as I found the first person shots were off a bit, but had more success in third person. If you find two players fighting each other, race over there and jump into a seat then start shooting at one yourself, you never know, you might get a kill, and you only need 10. Grenade kills don't count. It has to be a weapon fired from a passenger seat. The vehicle does not need to be moving so you can wait near a car with a handgun ready, wait until a player jumps in and starts to drive away, but hop in just before they do and hope they didn't notice you jumping in. Not only will it make killing them easier, you are sat right behind or beside them leaving you all the time in the world to shoot them from the passenger seat. Plus you will also unlock the following achievement:
As described above its possible to just wait and hide near a car and hope that another player needs a ride to the safe zone, as most players will dash for the car if they think its clear as time is not on their side. Watch their approach and jump into the vehicle as soon as they do and hope they don't notice you, as soon as they start to drive this should unlock. If you have a handgun ready, feel free to thank them with a bullet or two. If you get desperate for this, you could just get a car as soon as you drop into a game and literally stop before running somebody over, at the start they have two choices, get in or get ran over. Unless they have a gun, then they will just shoot you. So do this as soon as the game starts, if you can find a car and somebody out in the open.
HARD EARNED ACHIEVEMENTS
Reach the top 10 10 times.
Probably the easiest on this list of most difficult achievements, but still no cakewalk. Getting to the top 10 in the game 10 times means you are getting the hang of the game. This means getting to the point where you know which weapons you prefer and how to approach certain situations. The point where you start to feel your heart pumping harder than it should and your tee shirt is a little moist. If you are at this point in the guide you should have some idea of how best you like to play. Stick to it, but don't forget to be Aggressive, Mobile and Unpredictable.
If you play Duo's or Squad's modes, then its the position of the team that counts, not where you yourself were eliminated. Meaning that if you are the first person of your squad to be eliminated, then your team goes on to gain a top 10, or even a Chicken Dinner, you will be credited for that position or win, as long as you are still spectating the team doing it.
Reach the top 10 without killing anyone.
This is the literal top of the stealth game. So don't bother going for this one in a solo game unless you are quite close to the top 10 without a kill so far. If you reach the top 20 without a kill, consider getting this one out of the way, but there's no sense in getting this whilst not going for the win, that's harder to do. Try to avoid players rather than fight them. The tall grass on Sanhok is very helpful in hiding from players, as are shadows and rocks. For this reason, Mirimar (the desert) map is a pain in the butt to hide and Sanhok (Tropical Island) is the best option, tall grass and loads of rocks to hide in. Just remember bushes are not bulletproof, so use a bush of death at your risk, I often don't. If you have to only return fire when fired upon or preferably just run and hope that the aggressive player attracts some attention themselves. This popped for me when I actually reached the top 10 positions, so if it pops, feel free to go for the win, cause why not.
The easiest way is to join a squad game if your squad reaches the top 10, and you yourself have not yet eliminated a player, it will still pop for you even if the whole squad has killed a dozen or more.
This is a rather random one that you should go for whenever an opportunity arises, and not to go for in particular. I didn't notice when this unlocked for myself, there's very little time to be looking anywhere but your aiming sights at the start of a round when in a hot drop. Consider the start of the plane's flight path and the first moment you get to jump from it. Aim for the closest large town, or small village that may look inviting for other players, dive as fast as you can and keep diving to automatically pull your parachute. Get used to how to land, covered in the hints and tips page, aiming for a door or window, and pray to the digital gods of RNG for a weapon on the inside of it, then hope somebody else is very close by. Pick up the gun first, if you can. Then the ammo and reload, stop looting and hunt for the kill as soon as the gun is loaded. You will have very little time to get the kill and beat somebody else to the first kill. Good luck with this one.
If you achieve the first kill of the game, then you will have this done, just don't wait for the achievement to pop, just concentrate on staying alive.
Another fairly simple achievement that should happen as your skills progress. My average kills per game is at 4.8. Once you have found your weapons of choice, gotten used to the aiming of the weapons and the throwing of frag grenades, this will happen in time. The problem you have, is that this game has been on Xbox now for over three years, not including the early access when I started to play it. People have adapted their skills into certain weapons and are absolutely ruthless, and are efficient killers in the game. Thanks to Game Pass the average skill of players has dropped, but those who have the experience stand out visually from those that don't. Look for any players wearing gear similar to what you already have, as players like myself who wear extravagant clothing are a good indicator they have months worth, if not years, of experience.
As mentioned above, this is one achievement that's getting harder to earn as time goes on. It is completely possible for you to win, you just have to put the effort in to get the win. Pick your fights, if you don't think you will win, don't fire. If you think you can get the frag through the window, go for it. Or if the perfect shot comes up, take it. The worst that could happen is you miss, then die. This is PUBG, this will happen. The ONLY way to get better at this is to actually play the game. Knowledge of the games maps is vital to success in some fights, knowing there's a window at the bottom of the only stairway up some small houses giving you a clear shot up them, or that there's only one stairwell in the apartments near the school, but can drop safely from the roof with no damage. That the school has two holes to drop into the corridors on opposite sides and two stairwells to exit the roof, four doors on the ground to enter the building and every room has a window to escape or enter. This is what you need to learn about the world to be unpredictable. Like the fact it will take you a little over a minute to swim two hundred meters of open water, against the time left on the circle shrinking. All the information you can know about the world will help in the fights ahead. Just go into every fight believing you are going to win. If you don't, you're playing the wrong game.
In a game of Duos you really have to coordinate your gear with your partners. Share ammo, health. Call out where good gear is, know what they need, tell them what you want. You have two silenced weapons, but your partner doesn't, give him one. Two silent guns will benefit you both. your partner has got the same gun you do and has low ammo, but you have got over 200 rounds, hand him a few clips. When a fight starts, you both need it. If they have a bunch or grenades, you have none, ask for it. If they are a good partner they will share it. Nothing is worse in a game so crucial to team work as PUBG, when your team members run off solo and gets either you or your team killed because they are a lone wolf player. Clear buildings with your team member and cover each other, just don't forget where they are when the shooting starts, you can hurt and kill each other too. So watch your fire. Get good enough and you will one day win a round, and you will feel amazing once you do.
Same as Duos, just harder. With four people talking at once it can get confusing, so best played with your mates with voices you already recognise instantly. It will help when you ask for something, one responds and you don't need to say who was that? As is the case with a random squad, IF you are even lucky enough to find a squad with an open mic and not in a party. This does happen, I always play with open mic if in in a squad game, If they don't have a mic then your voice will come out of their TV so they can still hear you. Keep this in mind in games and call stuff out regardless of a response. But honestly if they, or you, don't have a headset you probably shouldn't be playing PUBG. Sound can be just as, if not more, crucial to a fight as bullets.
Here we are, the final achievement for the guide. To date I have won only 64 games (30 solo, 20 duo and 14 squad), a very low number compared to the 2000 plus games. I have shared my own stats as I am not the best of whom I know that play this game. I am however above average for the whole of the Xbox community. I often outperform some of my mates with over 3000 games played. But I dedicate myself to certain tactics and weapons, I have named the UMP Buffy(the player slayer) for ease of communicating what I have. We have named locations that don't have names for ease of dropping. We have the "standard drop" locations for every map. We share everything we find. I never hold more than about 200 rounds for any given weapon, unless we need two of the same type of ammo, then its 300. Share out the ammo and healing items for the whole squad.
Thank you for reading the guide, and I hope this helps in some way.
I will be coming back to this and adding more tips over time so it might keep changing when updates release.
So, good luck and go earn that chicken.
