3. Seasons After Fall Story walkthroughUpdate notes

Introduction

After watching the opening cutscene, you will be in control of a spirit which looks like a blue glowing ball. The game will prompt you to use cn_LS to move this ball around. Do so and head upwards. You will see smaller blue balls which you can bounce into and they will then disappear, just avoid them to save time. Further up you will be blocked by some plants. You will see the spirit bloom these plants which means you can bark at them using cn_X to move them out of your way. Keep on heading up through this maze and bark at another plant, you will then be blown up by a gust of wind and have to keep on navigating the maze. You will eventually reach a point where the wind will blow against you to the right with smaller blue balls heading in your direction, head left avoiding these and pass through another plant. Another gust of wind will blow you upwards, then you will need to head left and bark at the plant to open the path. Continue heading upwards and guide the spirit into the large plant to end the opening section and unlock:

You will be transported to Sanctuary, the hub area of the game, where you can access the different seasonal regions. Again you shall be in control of the spirit and you will need to head left to a puddle and bark at the red fox in order to attract it, keep on doing this and bring it back to the centre. After a brief cutscene the spirit will now be in control of the fox, making navigation much simpler and allowing you to retrieve the other spirits. Go right and jump (cn_A) over the obstacle and jump onto the branch platform, jumping off it onto the upper ledge. Keep going right to enter Creek, the opening area of the Winter region.

Part 1 - Retrieving The Spirits

Creek

Head right and once you reach the second upper platform jump up to it and go right to walk over the first bed of flowers in the game [Creek Flowers 1/4]. you will know you have collected it when there is a bloom animation and a small set of flowers appear. Once you reach a point where you have to jump to progress you will see a bed of flowers right in front of you so walk over it to 'collect' it [Creek Flowers 2/4]. You will go past some flower pods which will bloom as you reach them, jump towards these and they will propel you upwards. Ignore these for now and keep on going, passing a tree which will be relevant shortly. Shortly after you will drop into an area where you need to jump onto a flower pod to progress, ignore this flower pod for now and keep going right to find another bed of flowers to bloom [Creek Flowers 3/4]. Head back to this flower pod and jump on it to reach the upper platforms. A little further along will be a curled up thorn which you will see the spirit highlight, bark at it to uncurl it and not much further along will be the area's exit.

Ancestors

Keep moving, jumping up and heading left to bark at the curled thorn and reach a series of branch platforms. Go right along the lower branch platforms and instead of jumping onto the last branch platform keep moving to fall onto a lower one, jump across to the right from this one to reach a bed of flowers [Ancestors Flowers 1/4]. Retrace your steps and jump to the upper branch platform that we previously ignored and keep going until you see a green jellyfish and a curled thorn above. Bark here and get to the thorn, keeping on moving as you see the jellyfish head into a stone to make it glow. You will reach a series of branch platforms, one of the lower ones will contain another bed of flowers [Ancestors Flowers 2/4]. Keep on going right all the way to the end of the area to reach another bed of flowers at a dead-end [Ancestors Flowers 3/4]. From here go back and head a bit to the left to enter a cave where a jellyfish will lead you to a bear, the Guardian of Winter.

After the cutscene is over the Winter spirit fragment will be floating around you. Exit the cave and reach a large plant that has its mouth wide open. Double bark (tap cn_X twice) to change the season to Winter and you will see the plant's mouth suck in snow and close. A blue button connected to the plant will appear to its right so jump on that to make the plant spit out the snow to its left. Jump onto this snow and the branch platforms, heading left. Further ahead you will jump across some branch platforms and see the thorn retract. Double bark to revert to Summer and then bark once to uncurl the thorn and advance. Eventually you will reach another one of those mouth plants. Switch back to Winter and backtrack to the nearby branch platforms to reach the button that will make the plant spit out the snow. Keep moving leftwards to exit the area.

Creek (Return)

Continue heading back to Sanctuary and you will reach the tree we passed by earlier. The Winter spirit fragment will carve an image into this tree, revealing the Winter fresco which will unlock

Keep on going towards the end and you will power up another mouth plant (assuming you remained in Winter, if not then switch back), jump at the button underneath the upper platform further ahead and use the ejected snow to reach the upper platform. Switch back to Summer and bloom the flower pod, jumping on it to exit the area.

Sanctuary

Move slightly leftwards to trigger a cutscene where the Winter region is blocked off by plants (don't worry, this is only temporary and we shall return later) and a stone move upwards as the Winter spirit fragment is now in place. Head back to the centre of the area and witness a cutscene. Then go right to repossess the fox. Head left and listen to the narration, going over the now frozen puddle and ignoring the trees to reach the Fall region.

Puddle

Not far into the area you will see a tree trunk that you can jump on to bloom a bed of flowers [Puddle Flowers 1/4]. Keep going along the frozen lake and jump across the frozen water columns to progress. After passing another section of the lake you will walk over another bed of flowers [Puddle Flowers 2/4]. Soon after you will exit the area.

Quagmire

Early on you will encounter a bug-like creature which will move away from you, these will be important shortly. Moving further forwards into a hollow tree trunk will trigger a brief cutscene where a mysterious creature destroys the trunk. Go right in order to jump onto the fallen tree trunk and jump off the other end to reach a branch blocking the way with a blue glowing bug on it. Bark at it to explode the plant and move forward. Briefly ignore the bug in the frozen water column and head to the end for a bed of flowers [Quagmire Flowers 1/4].

Now bark at the bug and it will explode one tier of the frozen water column, allowing you to progress. Keep going to the left until you are blocked off by a branch. You will have walked over another bed of flowers [Quagmire Flowers 2/4] just before reaching it. Go back, jump and bark at the bug to explode a tier of the frozen water column, shortly after jumping onto a much smaller tree trunk. Return to going left across these small tree trunks and you will eventually trigger a cutscene where a large bird will fly by and sweep you off the platform. To progress further you will have to jump over two small tree trunks and over the frozen water column which will give you another bed of flowers [Quagmire Flowers 3/4]. You know the drill by now so keep going left and through two hollow tree trunks to reach the mysterious bird, actually the Guardian of Fall.

After the cutscene you will be given the Fall spirit fragment. Double bark to change to Fall and return along the path. You will encounter the bug we have seen a few times, I will refer to this as the bomb bug from now on. This is because it needs to be guided into water to soak up and become a bomb, the frozen water column will be no more so guide the bug into it to inflate it and then revert back to Winter. The usual jump and bark routine will allow us to progress. Once on the next platform you will see a large feather that came from the bird, stand on it and change to Fall and a gust of wind will propel the feather upwards. Soon after you will encounter a flashing area, bark at it and a bug will emerge. Guide it along to the right, across the puddle (allowing it to inflate) and it will attach itself to the branch previously blocking our way. Change to Winter and then bark at it to explode the branch and allow you to advance.

Soon after you will encounter another feather, change back to Fall and jump across to the leaves. Zig-zag jump across these and over the small tree trunks to reach some more bugs, bark at one of them and guide it off the platform, taking it right and repeating the process we just did to progress. Continue forward and jump across the frozen water columns and small tree trunks. Once you can see a tree with dead leaves change to Fall. Jump across the leaves to another tree trunk platform and the final bed of flowers in this area [Quagmire Flowers 4/4]. Head across the tree trunk platforms and change back to Winter, filling the mouth plant and jumping on the button to make the plant spit out snow onto the fallen tree trunk from the beginning of this area. Now you can exit.

Puddle (Return)

Head right and over part of the frozen lake until you reach a two-tiered frozen water column. Change to Fall to lower this to a single tier, then revert to Winter to freeze it again and progress. Keep using this technique and you will eventually reach the tree where the Fall spirit fragment will reveal the Fall fresco, unlocking:

There are no more obstacles that I need to document in this area so head right and exit.

Sanctuary

Head right to see another cutscene showing the same as what happened after we left the Winter region. Go back to the centre of Sanctuary and witness a cutscene, after this repossess the fox by going left. Now you change the power of seasons (between Winter and Fall for now) by either holding cn_RB + cn_LS or by just using cn_RS, the latter I feel is much more efficient. The narrator will give you a hint about where to go next so let's follow up on it and go right to the lower area. Switch to Fall to bring up the platform, jump onto it and enter the Spring region.

Pit

Switch to Winter and freeze a lake once you see it, listening to the narrator congratulating you. Once you drop down turn left, switch to Fall to bring up the platforms and jump across. Head past a large platform to a dead-end with a bed of flowers [Pit Flowers 1/4] and then switch to Winter to retract the large platform and drop down to a frozen lake. Head right and switch to Fall to bring up a mushroom type platform, jumping on this will make a crab bug fall down. Guide the crab bug to the right and it will bury itself in the blue area surrounded by blue mushrooms, bringing up another platform. Jump onto it and it will extend, allowing you to progress. Keep going right and jump across the lake, then turning back and going across the platforms to reach a bomb bug. Bark at it from the left and guide it to the right into the lake. Change to Winter and bark at it to explode the frozen lake, drop down. Switch to Fall and head left to reach a lone platform, jumping on it and then jump ing across to the right to reach a bomb bug. Bark at it from the right and guide it to the left to a lake, repeating the process we just did and dropping down.

Head right and eventually drop down to reach a mushroom pillar, switch to Fall to bring it up and drop a crab bug. Before dropping down switch to Winter and then guide it right across the frozen lake to create a platform which will extend when jumped on in the Fall season. Make the long jump to the right and go past the tree which will reveal the Spring fresco later. Freeze the lake and then jump across the platforms to the left to have two fireflies follow you. Keep going to the left and you will find another bed of flowers at the end [Pit Flowers 2/4]. Go right across the platforms to find a third firefly and then drop down.

We are now in a very simple puzzle area. You can kind of guess what you need to do by going to the left and right and looking at the stones. You need to bark at the floating holders in the relevant order to lower the stones and progress. We need to go to the right so bark at the bottom, right and left holders in that order. Wait for the fireflies to slot in before barking at the next holder as they can be quite slow. The right stone will lower, allowing you to leave the area.

Cascades

Head along this area until you reach a lone platform, ignore it for a moment and head to a dead-end to bloom a bed of flowers [Cascades Flowers 1/4]. Now bring up this lone platform, jump on it and keep going right (freezing the lake when necessary) to reach the Guardian of Spring. After the cutscene you will receive the Spring spirit fragment so you can now head back. Jump onto the platform which seems to be holding a lot of water. Double bark to change to Spring and see glowing flowers pop up, bark at these to make the platform let out its water and fill the lake. Freeze the lake and keep on going left, past the frozen water column and jump onto the branch platforms. Switch to Spring to make the water column expand and then freeze it, jump across and exit the area.

Pit (Return)

Go left and bark at the bottom, left and right holders to lower the left stone. Head along the platforms above to reach a mushroom plant and drop a crab bug. Switch to Winter to freeze the lake and guide it to the right to make it drop down, then guide it all the way to the left to make a platform. Ride this created platform up and then jump to the left to reach the tree where you shall unlock

Keep on going left and listen to the narration, passing by several water columns, jump across the platforms here to the left to reach a dead-end with a bed of flowers [Pit Flowers 3/4]. Now go right across the platforms and switch to Spring once on the ledge to allow the water columns to rise. Freeze them and jump across to reach a double-tiered water column, switch to Fall to make the column lower and then freeze it, repeat the technique we just used to make it rise. Jump across the platforms here (making sure not to fall down or you will have to repeat what we have just done) and past the bomb bug we used previously to reach another water column. You know the drill at this point. Switch to Fall to bring up the platforms and jump on the highest one to drop a crab bug. Guide it to the right and ride the created platform up. Head to the right to reach another platform with a crab bug, make it drop and switch to Winter to guide it across the frozen lake. Ride up the created platform and jump across to its other branch to progress. Jump onto the water platform and use it to raise the lake, freezing it to advance. Now jump across the platforms to the highest area and keep on going to the left to exit the area.

Sanctuary

You know the routine by now. After the cutscene and repossessing the fox (again) by heading to the left, you will now be in control of three seasons. There is only one region we haven't been to now, Summer, so let's head there. Go to the left and jump up the leaves to the upper area. We will then reach another mouth plant, this time we need to switch to Spring as the mouth plant can gather and spit out water to grow plants (very similar to what we did with it in Winter). Do this to grow a tree and head up the leaves, going to the left and exiting Sanctuary.

Ranges

Head to the mouth plant and switch to Winter to trigger its animation, then head up the nearby tree to hit the button with the snow breaking the trunk. Head on down and keep going and soon you will be underneath another trunk with a strawberry-like bug above it. Bark at it to make it smash into the trunk and it will eventually break through and drop into the ground. Jump up to the left and hit the mouth plant's button to make it spit out water to grow a tree. Jump up the tree and over to the left, drop down (ignoring the water platform for a minute) to the lake to freeze it. Head to the right and you will see a bed of flowers [Ranges Flowers 1/4]. Now backtrack and jump onto the water platform, using it to raise the water. Freeze it and keep on going left to a dead-end for another bed of flowers [Ranges Flowers 2/4]. Head up the leaves on the tree and go to the left to see another strawberry bug, switch to Fall once you see it and guide it to the left. Bark at it to allow it to fly up through the gust of wind and use the leaves on the trees to the right to reach it. Once you return to the strawberry bug, jump up to the top of the leaves on the tree here to collect a bed of flowers [Ranges Flowers 3/4]. Continue guiding the strawberry bug and have it smash through the trunk, drop down and continue left to exit the area.

Foliage

Welcome to the area that contains the most tedious puzzle in the game, we'll be doing that later on though. Head on through the massive tree and drop down to a platform to touch a firefly, it will head back to the centre of the tree with the other firefly there. We need to collect them all to summon the Guardian of Summer. Drop down from this platform and go right to enter the lower section of the tree. Keep on going right until you get to the second moving platform, ride it up and bring up the mushroom platform to drop a crab bug. Guide the crab bug all the way to the left and jump across the platform to exit the lower section. You will see the firefly straight ahead but for now drop down below the platform to collect a bed of flowers [Foliage Flowers 1/4], then go ahead and touch the firefly.

Backtrack to where we collected the first firefly, ride up that platform and then go up two more to reach the higher section of the tree. You will reach two holders, a floating platform and another firefly so touch it. Head right here to walk over another bed of flowers [Foliage Flowers 2/4]. Turn back and the platforms in the centre will now be moving, head on up them and after the second platform jump across to the left to reach yet another bed of flowers [Foliage Flowers 3/4]. Jump onto the platform next to these flowers and ride it up, then jump across another platform to the left and go through the exit. You will find another firefly here. Backtrack to the centre of the higher tree section and take the moving platforms all the way to the top, then jump across to the right to the exit to collect the last firefly. Backtrack to the central section now to summon the Guardian of Summer who will give you the Summer spirit fragment, head right to exit the area.

Ranges (Return)

Head along and double bark to change to Summer and uncurl the thorn. Head across it and up the tree to see the mouth plant from earlier. Switch to Spring and hit the button to make it spit out the water needed to grow a tree, head on over and climb up it. Continue to the right to reach the tree which reveals the Summer fresco, unlocking

Keep on going to reach the water platform, jump onto it and switch to Summer to lower the water. Freeze the lake and head across, jumping up to the right once you see the trunk we destroyed earlier. Switch to Summer to uncurl the thorn further ahead and drop down from it to walk on the final bed of flowers for this area [Ranges Flowers 4/4]. Jump back onto the thorn and jump off it to the right and continue platforming (avoiding dropping down the other broken trunk) to the exit.

Sanctuary

Head on down to the centre of Sanctuary and witness the cutscene bringing together all four of the seasonal spirits. Sadly the fox doesn't survive the process but its memory lives on in the spirit fox. You have now completed the first part of the game and unlocked an achievement for your troubles. The achievements will come slightly more frequently now, I promise.

Part 2 - Breaking Free The Wind Stones

The second part of the game has now begun. You will need to break free the wind stones to end the nightmare (nope I don't really get it either). You can visit whichever region you like now and tackle the wind stones in any order but for the purpose of this walkthrough let's head back to the Winter region.

Creek

Just passing through, listen to the narration and watch the cutscene along the way as the Guardian of Winter explains your objective.

Ancestors

Make your way through the area until you reach the wind stone, triggering a brief cutscene. After this keep on heading right and just past the series of branch platforms we used earlier is a glowing stone, bark at it. It will reveal a shortcut, you can jump into these to reach previously inaccessible areas or just navigate the area more efficiently. Jump up the branch platforms to see the shortcut and travel up it. Now jump across two of the branch platforms until you reach a branch platform which is directly in front of a tree. Stand here for roughly two minutes to hear some unusual sounds until you unlock

  • A bird

In the Woods of the Ancestors, listen carefully, find the bird and keep very still.

    A bird

Jump across to the right and bark at the stone to free a jellyfish, wait for it to stop moving and then touch it to make it follow you. Drop down to the bottom and head to the right until you see a flower that will only open in the Summer season. The jellyfish will plant itself inside and the branch will light up, beginning the process of breaking this area's wind stone. Head to the left and go up the next branch platforms to jump on the button, we will be repeating this process along the way. However for now let's divert to obtain another achievement. By jumping on the mushroom platform you will have dropped a crab bug, take it all the way to the right (dropping down past the cave entrance) to create a platform. Jump across it and bark at the glowing stone to create a shortcut. Go back and spit out snow using the mouth plant and jump into the shortcut from the upper right branch platform. Climb the frozen waterfall to the top and drop down on the other side to some branch platforms. You will see a nest to the left that looks like a swan, bark at it and watch the cutscene to unlock

Now backtrack all the way back to the mushroom platform we jumped on a bit ago, jump up from here to reach the next button and keep on following the glowing branch as it progresses, this part is pretty self-explanatory. You will eventually reach another mushroom platform higher up, make the crab bug fall down to the left but don't follow it just yet. Go across the branch platforms to the final button to unravel that branch from the wind stone. Drop down and head to the crab bug and guide it to the left to create two extendable platforms. Bark at the glowing stone on the branch platform nearby to free another jellyfish and touch it to make it follow you. You will see another mushroom platform nearby so use this to drop another crab bug, guiding it to the left (past the curled thorn) to create two more extendable platforms. Ride these up and switch to Summer to plant the jellyfish to start another glowing branch. Jump across the branch platforms and you will walk over the final bed of flowers in this area [Ancestors Flowers 4/4].

Repeating the process we just did will unravel another branch of the wind stone, one more to go. Head all the way back to the cave and go inside to see another glowing stone to bark at, freeing the final jellyfish. Take it back to the plant closest to the wind stone and jump on two buttons to unravel the final branch. Now walk into the wind stone and you will zig-zag around it, bark continuously until the stone reveals a portal. Jump in to begin the first nightmare area. In these sections you will have to do some simple platforming to reach what looks like a jewel with four glowing balls around it. All you need to do is jump onto the platform on the right and jump across to the right-most ball to end the first nightmare area, unlocking

Sanctuary

After breaking free the wind stone for each area you will be returned to Sanctuary, which is useful as it saves a few minutes of backtracking. Let's carry on, head to the Fall region.

Puddle

Passing through.

Quagmire

Head along the area until you trigger a brief cutscene detailing the wind stone. The wind stone here is stuck underground, we'll need to get to a new area to break it free. Go left and stand on top of the feather, switching to Fall to head up the leaves on the tree to the small tree trunk. Bark at the glowing stone to free a jellyfish which will make a puddle glow. The cutscene will show a bomb bug being teleported, this is the main technique we will be using to free the wind stone. Keep on heading left and bark at another glowing stone which will make the puddle between the two large hollow trunks glow, drop down from here (make sure you aren't in Winter) and bark at the bomb bug to make it appear. Guide the bomb bug to the left and have it inflate in the puddle but make sure that it doesn't walk past, if this is done correctly it will teleport so follow it.

Underground

Ignore the bomb bug for a moment and jump to the right to walk over a bed of flowers [Underground Flowers 1/4]. Now guide the bug to the left onto the branch, switch to Winter and explode it. Go past and jump up to see another nest, bark at it and watch the cutscene to unlock

Backtrack to where we walked over the flowers and drop down, heading right and then up to the left to bark at a bomb bug. Guide the bomb bug to the right to make it drop down and then direct it left through the puddle, guiding it to another branch to explode. Pass through and keep on heading left to find a bed of flowers at a dead-end [Underground Flowers 2/4]. Jump across to the right from here, drop down and switch to Fall to find something that you'd probably find in a reef. Bark at it to make it release gusts of wind to the left and right. Continue right, past the feather and bark at the glowing stone to release another jellyfish making the puddle a little bit to the left glow. Use this puddle to return to Quagmire and retrieve a bomb bug from the left, taking it back with you through the puddle (making sure it inflates by ensuring it isn't Winter). Once back in the Underground guide the bug to the left and explode the branch, this will aid the circulation of the wind to break free the wind stone.

Backtrack to the glowing stone we barked at a few moments ago and head past it, jumping past the second feather to the left to find the second reef-like thing (make sure you are in Fall). Bark at it to bring out the gusts of wind. Jump across and head all the way to the right to a water column, jump up to the ledge to the right and extend the water column by switching to Spring and then freeze it. Walk along here to the end and you'll nudge off a feather, let it fall to the ground and then switch to Fall to ride it up and jump to the left. Bark at the glowing stone to release a jellyfish to make the last puddle glow. Continue and drop down to find a slightly hidden bed of flowers [Underground Flowers 3/4]. Head upwards and to the right to reach a dead-end with a bomb bug, bring it out and guide it to the left (inflating it in the puddle along the way) to explode the final branch. A cutscene should now trigger where the wind stone is freed, if it doesn't then exit via a puddle and return. Head to just under where the wind stone was previously stuck for the final bed of flowers for this area [Underground Flowers 4/4], it is just to the left of the final branch we exploded. I was stumped on this section for a fair bit on my first playthrough, looks simple now.

Take a puddle back to Quagmire and return to the wind stone for the next nightmare section. Simple platforming here yet again, use the flower pods when you see them. Occasionally a plant will block your way so find where the flower head is and bark at it to make it retract, then continue. Repeat the process we did previously (but jumping from the left side this time) to end the second nightmare section, no achievement this time though.

Sanctuary

You will be back at Sanctuary and a cutscene should show something appear in the Winter region and the lake permanently lowering in the Fall region. On my first playthrough, right at the end of the game, I couldn't progress as the lake never lowered. I would recommend quickly returning to the Fall region and checking that the lake has lowered in Puddle. If it has then you are good to go. Now let's go back to the Spring region.

Pit

Bark at the glowing stone straight ahead to create a shortcut which cuts out a good amount of the area. The glowing stone near the mushroom platform where we brought the crab bug across the frozen lake the first time also creates a useful shortcut. Keep platforming through the area until you are near the firefly puzzle section, you should be able to see a water platform. Switch to Summer and drain the water, dropping down to the right to find the final bed of flowers in this area [Pit Flowers 4/4]. You will likely have to do the firefly puzzle again to enter the Cascades but you will know what to do by now.

Cascades

Continue along the path, barking at the glowing stone along the way to create a shortcut which you will need to progress. Keep on going until you jump onto a water platform, switch to Summer and lower the water, revealing a glowing stone to bark at a little bit to the left. Do so and head back to the branch platforms (refilling the lake along the way) near the beginning of the area and jump into the shortcut to reach another nest, bark at it and watch the cutscene to unlock

Now return to the path and jump into the second waterfall with a glowing spiral that you see and you will be able to move it up and down to alter its trajectory, move it upwards so you can enter the shortcut. Immediately head left here for a bed of flowers [Cascades Flowers 2/4] and then continue right, barking at the glowing stone to create a shortcut to get back. Soon after you will reach the wind stone for this area which is hidden in an illusion, we will need to raise the water all the way to the top to break this illusion. For the moment, ignore this and head all the way to the right to reach a dead-end and a set of flowers [Cascade Flowers 3/4]. Head all the way back to the hidden wind stone and jump onto the water platform to the left, switch to Summer to drain the water which will reveal the final bed of flowers in this area just below [Cascade Flowers 4/4].

Freeze the lake and head back to the right until you see a glowing spiral lower down (revert from Winter and jump up the branch platforms to trigger the water). Move the spiral up to shoot out onto a branch platform and jump into the spiral to the left, lower it down and then shoot out into another spiral and then shoot out onto a water platform. Switch to Summer, lower the water and bark at the glowing stone that has just been revealed to create another shortcut. Go left to the nearest branch platform and then jump to the glowing spiral (making sure it isn't Winter) and shoot out into the shortcut. You will end up on the upper water platform so switch to Spring to raise the water and then do the same with the other water platforms which are now easily accessible. Enter the portal in the wind stone for another nightmare section which you can easily handle now (you will need to drop down a few times to complete it, remember that you can't die), complete it to unlock

Sanctuary

Watch the cutscene and then head to the Summer region. Time for the final wind stone.

Ranges

Passing through, bark at the glowing stone just before the water platform to cut out a good stretch.

Foliage

Now for the most tedious part of the game. Head into the central section of the tree to see the fireflies go away and a pattern appear in front of the Guardian of Summer.

Now head to the lower section of the tree to trigger a cutscene revealing the wind stone for this area. Head further right and bark at the glowing stone to create a shortcut to the lowest section of the tree. In here you will have to recreate the bottom-right pattern shown in the image below. Examine the picture closely and switch seasons to change the patterns of the fireflies to what you need. In this area you are helped as the pattern is carved into the background. Patience is the key so you don't mess up and have to try again. The mechanics are the same as the brief puzzle in the Pit area but this is much more long-winded. Start from the top right, then go down and across (including the lower middle holder), then cut diagonally to the right and then to the left. That's the first of four finished and if you have done it correctly it will appear next to the wind stone, the other three are done in the higher section of the tree.

Go the left and bark at the glowing stone to create a shortcut to exit the lowest section of the tree. Now backtrack to the moving platforms outside of the tree and jump across all three to enter the higher section of the tree. In this section you will need to recreate the other three patterns, with the tips I have given this should now be doable. Use the image below to help you and ignore the bottom right one as we have already done that. Take your time and you will have no problems. Remember that Summer = Full Circles, Fall = Rhombus, Winter = Line and Spring = Infinity Symbol.

Image 1

Move up the platforms once you are done and head back to where we collected the third bed of flowers earlier, go through the exit to the left of them and bark at the glowing stone to create a shortcut. Cut across the moving platforms (using the diagonal platform to the right if you fall down) to reach the exit where the shortcut is. Enter it and once you are at the highest level keep on going left and outside of the tree you will have walked on the final bed of flowers for this area [Foliage Flowers 4/4].

Head on back to the wind stone and break it open, entering the portal for the final nightmare area. No need to explain how to finish it, you'll earn an achievement once you have

  • A return

Bring "something very precious" to the Sanctuary.

    A return
Offline Game Mode - These achievements require play in game modes that do not necessitate a connection to any online services.Single Player - These achievements can be obtained by a single player.Main Storyline - These achievements are gained automatically by progressing through the main game modes.

Part 3 - Activating The Altars

We are now on the home straight, after the cutscene showing some weird floating trees (which we will deal with shortly) it will be time to activate the altars in each region and finish the game. Again you can tackle these in any way you want but we will go to the Winter region first for this walkthrough.

Creek

Work your way through the area until you reach some purple seaweed that was shown in a previous cutscene. Bark at it to reveal a glowing stone and bark at that to create a shortcut which will lead you to a new area. Head to this shortcut by going to the left and jumping onto the first platform on the way back (where we collected the first bed of flowers in the game), enter the shortcut to reach Island.

Island

Head right upon entering this area to find the path blocked off by mist. Now go left and drop off this platform, going right to find one of those reef-like things we used in the Underground earlier. Switch to Fall and bark at it to clear part of the mist and open up the lower section. Now head left and you will encounter a floating altar piece, touch it to trigger a cutscene showing it inserting itself into the altar further to the right. For now continue to the left and jump up the platforms and go right, uncurling the thorn by switching to Summer and jumping across to find a bed of flowers [Island Flowers 1/4]. Drop down here and continue to the right to find another bed of flowers just past the mist we cleared a moment ago [Island Flowers 2/4]. Continue all the way to the right until you are blocked off by mist again and you will have walked over another bed of flowers [Island Flowers 3/4]. Jump up to the next platform and then use the lone extendable platform to get to the top to find another altar piece, two more to find.

Now go to the left and drop down from here, making sure you are in Summer to be able to jump onto the flower pod to the other side. At the end you will find another reef-like thing so do the usual routine to get it blowing gusts of wind. Past the cleared mist to the left you will find some more seaweed blocking a glowing stone, barking at this stone will create a shortcut back to Creek which we will need to use to be able to leave the area. Backtrack to where we found the second altar piece and you will find the shortcut to the left, enter.

Creek (Return)

We are brought back to Creek but this time we are at the top of the structure in the middle of the area that we couldn't previously access. Jump across to the right to find the final bed of flowers in this area that had previously eluded us [Creek Flowers 4/4]. Now jump across back to the left and uncurl the thorn to get across, finding another glowing stone to bark at. Head back to the platform just before the one with the final bed of flowers and drop down to use the shortcut we just created. You will be dropped onto an upper platform and will find some flower pods. Use them to get across and find some more purple seaweed blocking a glowing stone. Reveal the shortcut as usual and head back to the large structure in the middle of the area (using the flower pods to get back up) and go all the way to the left to find the shortcut to return to Island.

Island (Return)

You will be dropped into a section of this area that was previously inaccessible, the final altar pieces and bed of flowers that we need are here. You will see a mouth plant to your right so switch to Winter and head all the way to the right to find a branch platform to jump to and you will find the button. Head back to where the mouth plant spat out the snow and jump up to the platform on the left. Here you will find another reef-like thing so get it blowing gusts of wind to reveal a glowing stone and a path between the previously separated areas of Island. Barking at this glowing stone will reveal another shortcut further to the right. Bring up the platform next to the reef-like thing and use it to jump across to the other side to find another altar piece, one more to go.

Head to the right and use the shortcut we just created to reach another separated area, you will immediately find another reef-like thing so get it blowing gusts of wind to reveal a button for the nearby mouth plant. Get it to spit out snow to break the trunk, drop down to find the final altar piece to finish the altar. Down here, head to the left to find the final bed of flowers in this area [Island Flowers 4/4]. Go to the left and jump to get out and backtrack to the completed altar. Enter the altar and bark multiple times in order to activate it and you will then be completely done with the Winter region, in the process unlocking

Head on back to the shortcut we used to exit Island earlier and make your way back to Sanctuary. Return to the Fall region.

Puddle

Drop down into the area where the lake was to begin a sequence where you need to touch the altar pieces as you are falling. You can't fail here and the pieces never disappear if you miss them. Complete it and you will be dropped into water, head to the left to find the altar for this region, activate it to unlock

Freeze the water we just passed through and go to the right to find a glowing stone which will create a path allowing us to exit the lowered section on the left side. Head all the way to the left to find a glowing stone that will create a shortcut to allow us to exit on the right side. Jump across the frozen water column here to find a bed of flowers [Puddle Flowers 3/4] and then use the shortcut to the right, going to the left to find the final bed of flowers for this area [Puddle Flowers 4/4]. We are now completely done with this region so head all the way back to the right of the lowered section and use the shortcut here to exit the area. Now we shall head to the Spring region.

Pit

This region in my view has the most difficult altar as you will be platforming in pitch dark to collect the altar pieces. Hopefully I can help guide you through it efficiently but some parts might come down to trial and error. There are some areas that you can illuminate by barking at seaweed so do this at every one you come across. Work your way down to the bottom of the area (barking at the glowing stone along the way) and head leftwards to where we found the third bed of flowers earlier. A large stone has dropped into the ground allowing us to access the ledge we couldn't previously, head on up and enter the cave.

You will encounter seaweed that when barked at will illuminate the immediate vicinity. Head past this and jump up to the ledge once you are past the third seaweed you see. Once up here, keep going left and head past two more seaweed and jump up to another ledge to the left. Bark at the lone seaweed up here to reveal three platforms, including a mushroom platform. Jump on this platform to bring down a crab bug and guide it all the way to the right and it will eventually create a platform from which you can jump to a ledge to the right.

Barking at the next seaweed will reveal a water column so freeze it and head on up. Raise the next water column by switching to Spring and then freezing it, jumping off to the left. Keep going left and bark at both of the seaweed you pass until you reach a dead-end. The second seaweed you illuminate will reveal a platform. Head back to the prior seaweed and jump to the ledge on the left, then bring up the platform and jump across. Light the next seaweed you see and jump to the ledge on the right, barking at the next seaweed you come across will reveal the first altar piece.

Light the next seaweed after this to reveal two platforms, jump up these and to the left and keep going in that direction. Eventually you will reach a seaweed and you will have to jump to move further forward, do so but do not jump too far. There is a ledge here and if you have lighted every seaweed in the area then you can see the next altar piece. Jump across to collect it, two more to go. Head back to where we revealed the two platforms a moment ago and go to the next seaweed on the right, illuminating it will reveal the altar.

Keep on going to the right (over frozen water) and you will reach the other exit for the cave. Bark at the glowing stone here to create a shortcut to enter the cave if you wish, for now we need to go back into the cave. Jump to the ledge to the left at the first seaweed you encounter and then illuminate the next seaweed you see. You will be able to see an altar piece to the left so jump off the ledge to collect it, one more to go. The frozen water we just crossed over a moment ago can be exploded. Head back to where we got the second altar piece and you will find a bomb bug before the final seaweed. Bark at it to bring it out and guide it all the way to the right into the water and then explode it. Drop down here and go right to reach a dead-end and some seaweed, illuminate it to reveal the final altar piece for this annoying altar. Head back to the altar and activate it to unlock

Leave the cave through either of the exits and return to Sanctuary. It is time to head to the Summer region and activate the final altar.

Ranges & Foliage

Passing through, keep going left and you will eventually reach Summit.

Summit

Welcome to Summit, the final area of the game we'll be exploring. Head all the way to the left to find a bed of flowers [Summit Flowers 1/4] and then jump onto the floating tree to the right. Carved into the middle of the tree trunk is a seasonal symbol. As you can guess you will need to switch to that season and bark to make that tree move. Do this with three floating trees and jump off to the left to advance, keep on moving and drop off (ignoring the floating tree) to find another bed of flowers to your right [Summit Flowers 2/4]. Now jump onto the floating tree and get it moving, jump off to the left and head all the way to the dead-end to find yet another bed of flowers [Summit Flowers 3/4].

At the top of the tree next to the flowers you will find a strawberry bug, jump up and guide the bug to break the tree trunk to the right. Continue to guide the strawberry bug to the right and switch to Fall so the gust of wind after the mouth plant button can guide the bug to the ledge on the left. Use the nearby floating tree to finish directing the bug into the soil and then use the mouth plant to spit water at it to grow a tree (by switching to Spring). Use this newly grown tree to jump over to the floating tree we previously couldn't reach and ride it over to the left. After jumping across you will walk over the final bed of flowers along the way [Summit Flowers 4/4]. If you have followed this walkthrough to a tee this will be the final bed of flowers and you will unlock

Keep on going to the left and over a frozen lake to find another floating tree, ride it up but quickly jump off to the left when you can see a ledge. The final nest is here so bark at it to watch a cutscene and unlock

After all that is over jump back onto the floating tree when it comes back round and ride it all the way to the right, jumping off at the end. Head a little bit further ahead and you will find a glowing stone which will create a shortcut above where we got the first bed of flowers in this area. Make your way back there using the floating trees and enter it to be returned to Foliage.

Foliage (Return)

We have been brought to the highest level of the tree in Foliage where the altar pieces for the final altar can be found. Enter the tree and bring up the two platforms next to you to find the first altar piece. Then go all the way to the right (barking at the glowing stone if you wish, the shortcut only makes it easier to get back to this section), drop down and keep right through the exit to find the other altar piece. Head back to the final altar and activate it to unlock

The narrator will tell you that the Guardians have gathered at the Sanctuary to perform the ritual. Work your way back down the tree and make your way to Sanctuary to finish the game.

End-Game

Head to the centre of Sanctuary and trigger the final cutscene. Watch the credits afterwards (or skip them) and you will unlock

You will be back in Sanctuary after the credits and see a portal open above you. Jump into it and go all the way to the left to enter the fox, bark multiple times to unlock

Congratulations on completing Seasons After Fall! Another very easy completion to add to your tag but with slightly higher ratio than usual.
