The Path to 2409 is an achievement that requires the completion of a lore accolade within the game. To complete the accolade, you must collect 166 different datachips. These datachips come in 29 different volumes of varying amounts of chapters each. This is one of the harder achievements in the game to achieve for many different reasons. You can only receive one datachip for free, per character, every 20 hours. As well, the free datachip you can receive is completely randomized, so you may receive datachips that you've already been given and used. This adds a factor of luck to the equation, but there are a few things that can make the process go quicker. Please note that this is not an account based achievement. All datachips have to be unlocked on a single character, not over multiple characters.
Federation: How to Obtain
*Commander Viala and Terminal Location*
Commander Viala is located within the very northwest circular building of Starfleet Academy. At level 10, she gives a quest titled 'History 101: Alpha Quadrant from 2380'. There is a small terminal at the same desk that you can activate to complete the quest and receive the datachip.
Klingon: How to Obtain
*Loresinger Ch'toh Location*
Loresinger Ch'toh is located northeast of the large circle in the middle of the Klingon Academy. At level 10, he gives a quest titled 'The Lore of the Empire'. You must then run back into the building on the east side of the map where you'll find a terminal that provides the datachip and completes the quest.
Tips and Tricks
There are several ways to increase your collection of datachips to complete this achievement. Since each character you have at level 10 can retrieve one datachip a day, you should create five characters and advance them to level 10, then put whatever characters you're not working on right in front of the mission vendor. Add logging in and completing the quest to something you do every day. Every few days, when each character has collected a good amount of datachips, you can then take extra time to send all of the datachips to whatever character you've designated. There is a much quicker way to do this than attempting to transfer them through the account bank. Find a mailbox and send a mail to your gamertag. This is done by composing a mail with the To: line filled in with your gamertag preceded by an @ symbol (Example: @killersquirelz). Every character on your account will receive that mail. You can then reply to the mail with any character you have, attaching up to five datachips at a time that can be retrieved by your main character. This transfers items much quicker than the default one slot account bank that every player has.
With every character you have access to that can get a datachip each day, you increase the chances of getting the datachips you need. Instead of buying additional character slots, you can create a new Xbox profile, and create as many characters as you want on that one. Once they're at level 10, they can begin retrieving datachips as well. It all comes down to how many characters you end up wanting to make and level to 10. You will then need to use your main account and profile to send a message to your alternative account so that replies can be easily sent and datachips transferred.
There is also an option of finding other achievement hunters attempting to complete the achievement, and setting up a trade agreement. You can swap lists, and keep an eye out for datachips the other person needs. If you find one, you can trade them for ones you need. This increases the amount of characters helping each other, which goes quicker to fighting the randomness of datachips.
The last tip to greatly increase the amount of datachips you have access to is using the exchange. You can search the exchange for the keyword 'Datachip', select 'Show usable' and it will show you all datachips that are available to buy that you need. This will require energy credits, which is why the daily Tour the Galaxy mission is important. This will give you a significant amount of energy credits each day that will allow you to buy datachips you might need. Because of how easy they are to obtain, the prices are typically cheap enough that each Tour every day can help you afford several of them.
In game, you can see what volumes and chapters you have already completed in your lores. Lores can be found under the Missions section of the main menu, within Mission Journal. Tab over to Accolades, then scroll down to Lore Accolades. When you scroll, you will see both Volumes where you have collected at least one chapter, and the chapter numbers themselves. The achievement comes when the final 'The Path to 2409' accolade is collected, which requires the collection of each specific volume accolade. Note that after using a datachip that would complete a volume accolade or the achievement accolade, you must switch maps for it to register, or log out and log in. This will automatically update the accolades.
While you can always view which datachips you have obtained or are still needing in game, you should keep a seperate list that you mark off to keep better track yourself, as it will make it much easier to see if a datachip you've obtained from the daily quest is one you need, or one you already have. Below is a full written out list of each volume and chapter so you can copy and paste into a separate document.
