9. Star Trek Online The History of New RomulusUpdate notes

The History of New Romulus is very similar to The Path to 2409 in that it involves you collecting datachips to complete lore accolades. Despite having fewer volumes and chapters, this achievement can be harder to obtain as its requirements are stricter. Your primary method of obtaining datachips will likely be the exchange because of the complicated nature of the daily datachip allowance, so your Tour the Galaxy daily becomes all the more important. This achievement primarily takes place on New Romulus, in the main staging area zone. Only characters at level 50 and above can access this area, heavily limiting how many characters you'll have access to each day. The mission is also set up as a duty officer mission, with the datachip only being rewarded on completion of the mission. There are also additional items you'll need to collect before starting the duty officer mission. There are 6 volumes with 31 chapters total that have to be completed. The achievement is tied to the lore accolade, and all datachips must be collected on one single character.

The Romulan Historian gives the duty officer mission for the romulan datachip. It requires a duty officer of any type, and four 'New Romulus Research' items which are hidden collectibles found within the missions in the New Romulus story arc. What duty officer you use doesn't entirely matter, as a critical success doesn't give you an additional datachip. The mission has a twenty hour timer, making it a once a day type mission. The datachip rewarded is random, so it is possible to get datachips that you already have used before.

There are two missions that are considered fast, and the best ones to do that reward the required research items: Overgrown Caves, and Mountain Base. These missions can be replayed by going to the Missions menu, then Mission Journal, then finding the mission under the New Romulus arc and choosing to accept it. Upon completion, the mission can't be repeated for thirty minutes. Each mission contains three Research items, so you will occasionally need to do both missions to ensure you have enough for the Historian.

Overgrown Caves:

This mission tasks you with scanning 10 Alien Artifacts, rescuing a missing scientist, and defeating scorpians and Tholians. There are three figurines in this mission that reward the Research items. They are always found in the same sections of the mission, though their position within the room is randomized. You can begin this mission by selecting it in the mission journal, then using the transporter pad in the Staging Area to transport to the Paehhos Crater, where the mission entrance is found.

The first figurine is in the room immediately after you lower the Tholian barrier and encounter the Tholian Ensign and the missing scientist.

The second figurine is in the next room, where you fight the Tholian Commander.

The third figurine is in the final room, where you fight the Tholian Captain. Clear out the enemies before looking for it, as they can prove tricky. The captain has two moves that can be devastating. One of them is a mine he puts on the ground that does a high amount of damage to those caught in the orange radius when it goes off. The other is a forward blast that occurs usually near the beginning of the battle. Try to keep moving as best as you can, and hope your bridge officers don't all group up and get killed by the mine. If everyone does end up dying, your respawn point is close, so acting quickly can get you back into the fight before his health and shields have refreshed. When the mission is completed, turn it in, accept your marks package, and exit the cave.

Mountain Base:

This mission tasks you with infiltrating a Tal Shiar base, rescuing prisoners and recovering stolen data. Take the transporter to the Vastam Peaks, where the instance begins. The research items in this mission take the form of Encrypted Data Log terminals. Once more these terminals are always found in the same areas, though spawn randomly within it. There are three main areas of this mission, each with enemies, a terminal for the mission objective, a prisoner, and a terminal for the research. The enemies are straightforward, but try and prioritize killing the medic and scientist first so the group doesn't get healed. Once you've completed the mission, turn it in, accept the mark package, and exit the pass.

You can either do a mission once every day, and two missions when you no longer have enough from just the one, or you can repeat both missions several times in one day to stockpile research and only do the missions when you run out. The only advantage to running one mission once a day is if you plan on doing the Romulan Reputation, as each day you can get additional Romulan marks from the daily bonus to put into advancing the reputation.

It's important to do the Tour the Galaxy daily to gain energy credits, as the exchange will be your best friend to acquire the datachips you're missing. Because of the increased difficulty to receive the datachips, the prices will be much higher than The Path to 2409 was, but if you've followed the walkthrough for the Tour, you should be making enough money to afford them. You will also want to copy the below checklist somewhere else to more easily keep track of which ones you've gotten and which ones you still need.
