Hello and welcome to the TrueAchievements walkthrough for The Council. This refreshing and innovative take on the narrative adventure genre for Xbox One was developed by Big Bad Wolf Studios and published by Focus Home Interactive & Cyanide Studios.
The Council follows the episodic format, ala Telltale Games. However, unlike most narrative adventure games, your choices truly matter and shape your character and the story. The main unique feature is the RPG system with a total of 15 skills stemming from 3 class types. Solve issues with diplomacy, expand your scientific knowledge with occultism, or play detective and use logic and perspective. Confrontations, skills and limited resources all come together to form a "Social Influence system" that manipulates all dialogue options and actions.
There are a total of 5 episodes with 30 of 43 achievements being achievable in Episode 1. Due to all of the necessary choices needed for 100% completion, we are required to play two full playthroughs of Episode 1. Overall The Council is an intriguing and refreshing narrative adventure that is enjoyable and well worth a playthrough. Here is a summarized description of the story (via The Council)
The Council begins in 1793, with you taking the role of secret society member Louis de Richet after his invitation to a private island off the shores of England by the enigmatic Lord Mortimer. Joining you are a number of high profile guests, including Napoleon Bonaparte and President of the newly-formed United States of America, George Washington.
The strange nature of this private reception goes beyond just the prestigious guests –Richet’s own mother has recently gone missing on the island, while each and every one of the colorful cast seems to have their own hidden agendas…
