There are two different endings based on a specific collectable (for finishing each area without killing anyone). For the most efficient completion, you are going to want to not kill anyone for the entire game (with one exception that doesn't effect this) until the very last enemy of the game.
Also, you do not need to walk up to and speak to anyone after your grandpa (twice) at the very, very beginning of the game, but you can do so if you want.
Walk to the left and grab the floating Note 1/22 with . Back out and walk over to the door, leaving with . Walk over to the old man and speak to him with . Follow him to the right and speak to him again. This will allow you to use the easel to the right with . This is how puzzles will be set up throughout the game. You draw lines connecting each node and every node has a number stating how many lines must be connected to it.
So, draw two lines from the first 2 node to the 4 node. Then, draw two more lines from the 4 node to the second 2 node. Go through the dialogue, then follow to the right jumping () when necessary. Eventually, you'll be blocked by vines. Clear them out by pressing the button that matches the color of each vine to shoot them. So, for the first, for the second, and for the third. Go through the dialogue and run right jumping over his attack. If he kills you, just respawn and run and jump to the right avoiding again. If you make it onto the log without killing him, you should see a counter appear for High Road 1/24. This is what you'll be trying to get all but the final one of on this playthrough.
Fall and jump to get past the next enemy and complete High Road 2/24. Do so again to land on the platform below the next to enemies. Climb up behind them for High Road 3/24. And, do so for the final enemy, yet again, for High Road 4/24. Jump to the right area and go into the entrance below the tree.
Walk to the right, grabbing Note 2/22, then use the easel. The solutions to each puzzle is as follows:
Walk to the right and grab Note 3/22. You will unlock:
Walk left the portal looking thing and enter it using to teleport back to the entrance. Leave the cave. Walk to the right past the guy and enter the house. Grab Note 4/22.
Head right. Enemies killing people (including themselves) count as not taking the high road as well, so you will need to use hopping to keep the non-enemies alive here. Once you and everyone else survives and you make it past the second enemy, you will have High Road 5/24 complete. Continue through this area using the fall-jump and hopping methods (while generally just using avoidance) to finish High Roads 6-8/24. Enter the tree house. is a tree with a ladder nailed to it. Use to climb up it. Grab Note 5/22 to the right, then use the easel.
Upon finishing the puzzles, head all the way to the right and grab Note 6/22 and unlock:
Exit the tree house.
Drop down to the bottom path and follow it until you can talk to a cat. Do so to unlock:
Use the easel.
Continue right until you can enter through a gap in the fence completing Chapter One.
You will now be an adolescent. Small platforms held up by rope will now collapse when you jump on them after about a second.
Use normal methods of dodging to get past High Roads 9-10/24. Upon reaching the final enemy in the area, fall in the pit. You’ll see that as you spawn he will run down and drop on his perch, you have to do this fast. Kill yourself again. Run right and jump on the falling platform. Fall-jump again to the right shooting the green button looking thing (it will be officially introduced way later in the game) and falling onto the newly risen platform. You must not land on the platform that he falls onto or else he will die, voiding the high road. Pulling it off will allow you to continue with High Road 11/24.
Right after there will be a ticket booth where you can go through an entrance just beyond it. Do so.
Grab Note 7/22 directly to your right and Note 8/22 at the end of the path. Exit the building.
Keep dodging and going right (High Road 12/24) until you reach the high school. Enter it.
Go through the dialogue. You can now do two things that are basically only useful here. You can swap characters with and block with (your character locks in place until you press it again, firing defensively). Swap to Camena. Jump up and get as close to the enemy as possible then keep blocking as you switch to Motus. Get him past and hop down, doing the same with this enemy. Switch back and get the girl down past the enemy that Motus is blocking (High Road 12-14/24). Then, get Motus past. Keep alternating, doing this, until you get the girl down to safety just beyond the last enemy. Swap back to Motus and head all the way right past her hopping across (High Road 15/24). Then, swap back. Go through the dialogue, then leave the building.
Get past the next set of enemies by fall-jumping up to the right at a good angle for High Road 16/24. Look at the color above the next enemy’s head. You want to jump up the platforms and turn around, shooting that color to block his first shot and instantly jumping right (over his second shot) to land in safety for High Road 17/24. Notice there is something above the guy that you can speak to’s head. That is a button later introduced that can only be activated by enemy shots. Jump on the first two platforms to get them to drop getting an enemy to shoot the button when it’s no longer blocked. Now, just jump up like normal getting past the enemy up top (High Road 18/24). There should now be a platform in front of you that was lowered from off screen by that button. Use it to get past this enemy for High Road 19/24.
Enter the Museum. Grab Note 9/22 and Note 10/22 to the right, then use the easel.
Cross the bridge and grab Note 11/22. Exit the museum.
Enter the shack to the right and grab Note 12/22 by the right wall. Exit the shack.
Go all the way right, avoiding the first enemy easily (High Road 20/24) and getting past the second enemy by going up behind him and dropping him down so that you can progress like normal (High Road 21/24). Then, continue until you hop down past a barricaded door. Someone will run out and speak to you. Enter the newly opened door. Shoot all 3 guys. It should fade to black unlocking:
Give up on your dreams.
Respawn and head right again. Just going until he stops attempting to stop you. At the end of the path is an easel.
Enter the giant tree at the end, finishing Chapter Two.
Some floors are now just completely fake making you phase through them (there’s no way to tell). Above the first enemy in this chapter is a guy that you can talk to (you'll climb right up to him). Right next to him is a fake pipe that you can fall through to avoid the enemy. Do so. There will be an entrance to your right. Enter it and grab Note 13/22 and Note 14/22, again, to the right. Exit the building.
Follow to the right and you’ll come up to a screen showing you a "new" mechanic being that if you shoot the green buttons shown below it, it will cause things to move. Drop down over the guy’s head. Jump, shooting the button, before hurrying off of the platform. Drop down below. Head right up to the button. Shoot it. Time it so that you shoot it again lowering the enemy down to the bottom area. Then, once again to bring the platform back up without the enemy aboard. Jump up and shoot at the button to the left until you hit it bringing the platform and enemy down. Step on the platform and shoot the button again to lift yourself up. Hop to the right avoiding shots and get High Road 22/24. Look below.
This area will start a second type of button. Red buttons can only be activated by enemy’s shots. So, drop down and jump over the attack landing on the platform. Go right onto the next platform and hop until he shoots the button. When it lifts you up, hop right to get past him for High Road 23/24. Head right and enter the building.
Grab Note 15/22 and use the easel.
Head all the way right and grab Note 16/22 and unlock:
Exit the house.
MAKE SURE TO KILL THE SECOND ENEMY BEFORE JUMPING TO SAFETY TO PREVENT YOURSELF FROM EARNING THIS FINAL HIGH ROAD. YOU NEED TO BE MISSING AT LEAST ONE FOR AN ENDING ACHIEVEMENT!
Get past/murder the enemies in your way and head right grabbing Note 17/22. Then, use the easel.
Go all the way right and grab Note 18/22 unlocking:
Exit the cave.
Head right using the buttons when necessary. Once you reach your imaginary friend again (not the one that spawns after dying by the button section), you can just hold right with virtually no risk of death until you grab Note 19/22. Keep holding right, until you can use an easel.
Enter your newly built house. In here, you will unlock:
Exit the house.
Then, just keep on keeping on to the right until it fades to black (finishing Chapter Three).
You’ll spawn on Note 20/22. Then, use the computer on the desk to unlock extra puzzles in the game. Note 21/22 and Note 22/22 will be to your left. Grab both and unlock:
Now, just exit through the door at the far left.
For not taking the high road, you will unlock:
Reach the end of the forest and leave everyone behind.
Pause the game and click travel. This will allow you to select what section of the game you want to go to as well as track collectables. Travel to the Cave.
Head right and use the easel.
Select travel in the menu. Travel to Tree House.
Go use the easel.
Select travel again. Go to Camena's House. Go use the easel again.
That should be your last set of puzzles unlocking you:
Complete every bridge and thought door.
Leave the building. Now, run right and get past the final enemies without shooting them this time for High Road 24/24. Select travel one final time and go to Motus' House. Leave and run right. A guy should appear and talk to you this time. Finish his dialogue and keep running right to end the game. You will unlock:
