14. Ticket to Ride DLC - United Kingdom

This is one of the easier DLC maps to complete. New to this map are the Technology Cards. You can buy Technology Cards with locomotives. Each of these cards comes with a certain trait like “Allows you to claim Ferry routes” or “You score 1 extra point for each route that you claim”. At the start of the game, you can only claim routes in England. You will need to buy certain Technology Cards to be able to expand to France, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales respectively.

Play a few games to get a hang of these new technologies. Also on this map, you can use and four coloured train cards to replace a single locomotive wildcard. For example, you could claim a two train yellow route using a single yellow train card plus two red cards, a green card and a blue card. Doing this however is not very economical so I would only advise it when you absolutely have to, like when you try to claim the long Southampton - New York route and you are just short one or two cards. Also when the game is about the end you might be able to claim a longer route for just a few extra points.

London Calling

“Win a game while claiming all routes to London.” There are seven cities you can directly connect to London. You will need to connect all cities and win the match. The cities you will need to connect are:

- Northampton (1 pink or blue)

- Cambridge (1 orange or yellow)

- Ipswich (1 white)

- Dover (2 grey)

- Brighton (1 grey)

- Southampton (2 red or black)

- Reading (1 green)

The hardest part here is going to be to win the match. However, in my experience the AI is not very good on this map because of the technologies you will need to claim certain routes. Like always restart the game until you have drawn some tickets that you can comfortably complete. There are many tickets that connect cities to London however many of them only earn you around four points. Try to restart until you draw a ticket that has you connect a city in Scotland to a city in England as these routes are relatively easy to complete and yield decent points.

Restart if you opponent claims one of the routes you need for themselves. You should be able to unlock this achievement without any trouble:

Business Angel

“Win a game while buying the Boiler Lagging technology before claiming your first route.” Boiler Lagging is one of the technologies you can purchase. It will cost you two locomotives. This is likely the most straightforward achievement in the game. Use the strategy I explained in the previous achievement and this shouldn't be any trouble:

Titanic & She’s Got a Ticket to Ride

“Win a game while connecting Liverpool, London, and New-York in that order.” This achievement is a little trickier than the previous two but don’t worry. If you have completed a previous couple of DLC’s then you don’t have to worry.

You will need to start in Liverpool and claim routes until you have connected Liverpool to London. Afterwards you will need to connect to Southampton and finally connect to New York via the massive 40 point 10 train route. When you have done this you also need the win the game so make sure to use the same general strategy from the previous achievements. Now make sure that you do not buy the Propellers technology as we are going to unlock two achievements at once.

Really your only concern should be the AI not claiming the long 10 train route before you do because you are going to have to restart if they do. Other than that these achievements shouldn't be too difficult to unlock:

She's got a Ticket to Ride

Win a game while connecting Liverpool, London and New-York in that order. (Solo)

I Love Ginger

“Win a game while connecting only cities from Ireland and Scotland.” This is probably the hardest achievement from this DLC. You are unable to claim any routes in either Ireland or Scotland until you have bought the respective technologies.

You cannot claim any route that connects a city that is not in Ireland or Scotland. Look for the flags of each city which tells you what region they belong to. Now I would only attempt this if you can get at least two tickets that require an "Irish - Scottish" connection so definitely keep restarting the game until you do. When you finally have drawn some decent tickets you can start focussing on buying the required technologies and eventually start to claim the routes that connect the cities on your tickets. After you win you will unlock:

I Love Ginger

Win a game while connecting only cities from Ireland and Scotland. (Solo)

France - Wales

“Win a game while connecting France to Wales (any cities).” Self-explanatory and easy. You are free to connect any city you want unlike in the previous achievement. You will need the Propellers technology to be able to claim the ferry route over the English Channel. Also, you will need to buy the Mechanical Stoker technology to be able to claim 3 space routes. Using the standard strategy will net this achievement in no time:

France - Wales

Win a game while connecting France to Wales (any cities). (Solo)
