24. Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition MultiplayerUpdate notes

GENERAL

If you completed all aspects of the single player or if you want to do the multiplayer first, I will give you some in-depth guides to unlock every single achievement related to the online aspect of this game. Personally, I think that it shouldn’t be included at all in this great game but since Eidos and/or Square Enix thought differently; you are forced to spend between 15 and 20 hours levelling up and collecting salvage. Luckily, all but two achievements can be unlocked in private games. The other downside is that there are only 5 maps. I personally prefer the “Underground”-map since it’s pretty small, there is a turret and there are 2 zip lines which are easily accessible. When taking the achievements in consideration, this map should be perfect.

ONLINE GAMES

Let us start with the games you need to play online for. One achievement requires you to complete a match in each game-mode on any map while another requires you to win each game-mode on any map while playing ranked matches. If you want to boost this, you will need a minimum of 4 people and if you want a full lobby to avoid randoms, you will need a maximum of 8 persons. Each game-mode consists out of 3 rounds except Free For All. There are 4 game-modes to play:

1. Rescue:
In this mode you will either need to collect health packages as a member of the Survival side, or you will need to prevent packages to be delivered to the designated spot on the map. The default settings are delivering 5 packages as a Survivor and while playing in the Solarii class, you will need to get 20 kills. The main problem is that a kill only counts when the opponent is completely dead. In this mode, players can revive each other while playing in the Survivors class and if that happens, the kill does not count. Classes are switched every round except when you draw the first two rounds. Before the third round a voting will pop up and you can choose as which class you want to play with.

2. Cry For Help:
This game mode can be compared to a Domination-like game mode since you will need to capture radio stations when you’re playing as a Survivor. While playing as a Solarii-member, you need to defend those points and collect batteries from people you’ve killed.

3. Team Deathmatch:
This game is all about killing. The first team that reaches 20 total kills will win the round.

4. Free for All:
This mode is probably the game mode that causes the most problems for most gamers willing to complete this game. Since you unlock better equipment every time you level up, it might be nearly impossible to win a match as a low level. To win this match you can opt to do three things:
- Be the first with 15 kills
- Kill all other players to become the executioner. This will allow you to finish the match earlier.
- Have the most kills when the time runs out.

Playing and winning each single one of these game modes while in ranked playlists will award you with the following achievements:

MISCELANEOUS ACHIEVEMENTS

After these two achievements, you can set up a boosting session with just two other persons since all of the following can be done in private games. Allow me to give you an achievement walkthrough but note that all of the descriptions are underneath the listed achievements.

Most of the multiplayer maps will have a turret in the middle of the map and the two maps where they can be found the easiest are “Beach” and “Underground”. Getting this achievement can be done in any game mode and in any playlist you like since the 20 kills are cumulative.

Have your boosting buddy take a zipline down and kill him while he is riding it down. This can easily be done with every full automatic gun or with a shotgun. This all depends on your preferences.

For the following achievement, you will need to play as a member of the Survivor class. To do this, stand underneath the bottom of a zipline and have your boosting partner shoot you until your screen is flashing red. Jump on the zipline and hold the X-button to use the rope ascender. Repeat this 3 time to unlock this. Please note that Solarii-classes never have the rope ascender equipped while Survivors have this automatically equipped.

While running through the map you might have noticed an X-button prompt popping up every now and then. If you see cords on the ground, it means you can set up a trap. Press X to activate it and have your boosting partner running over it to become trapped. You do not need to kill your boosting partner for the achievement to unlock. Most maps will hold 4 or 5 traps for you to activate.

The easiest way to unlock this achievement is standing behind your boosting partner until the Y-prompt appears above their head. Press it to do an instant death. Mashing the Y-button might help you unlock this achievement as well.

This achievement requires you to have two boosting partners. Let them stand together while they are teamed up in any mode and press up on the D-Pad to get your grenade launcher out (pre-set while playing as a Survivor). Aim the grenade in between them to enjoy a double kill and this easy achievement.

This achievement can only be unlocked in the game mode Rescue. When one of your team members is in Last Stand, go near them and press the B-button to get them back up. Easy!

All game modes have a respawn delay and this achievement requires you to play a team based mode (everything for Free for All). When your partner is dead, stay alive to unlock this easily. While playing online games, this might be easier if you are not playing Rescue to avoid the Last Stand countdown.

This achievement can be boosted solo while playing as a Survivor. Press up on the D-Pad to equip the grenade launcher, aim at your feet but a little bit away. Shoot it and once you’ve taken damage from the explosion but you didn’t die, you can repeat this 9 times to unlock this easily. Grenades are replenished while looting Salvage crates.

This will unlock while going for the "Shopaholic"-achievement, more info below.

This will unlock while going for the "True Commitment"-achievement, more info can be found below.

RANKING AND SHOPAHOLIC

The following two achievements we are going to discuss can be done either solo or with a boosting buddy. Alternatively, you can also play legit and level up that way. The following achievements requires you to be level 60 (collect 1,771,100 EXP) and to collect 226,500 salvage. There are two methods that can help you level up faster, but one is significantly shorter since you can collect salvage while working on your EXP. Please note that you can also play this multiplayer the legit (and long) way to earn the two following achievements.

Method #1:
* Game mode: Rescue
* Map: Any you prefer (in the video below I’m using “Underground”)
* Map options:
- Time limit: 10 minutes (Default setting)
- Number of rounds: 3 (Default setting)
- Medkits to retrieve: Any you like (I’m using the default 5 in the video below)
- Kills: Doesn’t matter
* Loadouts:
- Offensive: Second Wind (unlocked at level 27)
- Survival: Advanced Looting (unlocked by default)
* Press X to make sure you start as the Survivor class.

In the first round, start collecting the packs and carry them all the way to the spot you need to put them in. While carrying the pack, never touch the B button to run faster as you will drop them if you do. Carrying these in one go towards the pre-set spot will award you with a ‘Long Carry’ and 500 EXP. Doing this 5 times in one round will net you 2,500 EXP. Delivering the first package of each round will award you with the ‘Gopher’-bonus and 350 EXP. Each time you deliver a health package, the bonus ‘Medkit Recovered’ will pop up and award you an additional 750 EXP, making it a total of 3,750 after each round. Delivering 3 packages in one round (which will be awarded automatically since you are boosting your level solo) will net you the ‘Delivery Boy’-bonus and an additional 1,000 EXP. Completing the round will award you 300 EXP.

After the first round, you will be switched to the Solarii-class. Roam around the map to loot Salvage boxes. With the ‘Advanced Looting’-perk, you should get between 200 and 300 salvage for each box. The respawn delay of each crate is about one minute so in the 10 minute timer you can do a loop around the map 10 times. Since it will take you about one minute to loot the 5 different crates, you shouldn’t wait more than a few seconds for a crate to respawn. After this round, you should have collected between 10,000 and 12,000 salvage. Completing the round will award you with another 300 EXP.

Before the third round, you will get a voting. Vote for the Survivors and repeat the steps mentioned above. After completing the match, you will get the following:
- 10x Medkits Recovered: 7,500 EXP
- 10x Long Carry: 5,000 EXP
- 2x Gopher: 700 EXP
- 2x Delivery Box: 2,000 EXP
- 2x Round Complete: 600 EXP
- 1x Winning Team: 1,000 EXP
And in between 12,000 and 15,000 salvage. The grand total of the EXP awarded will be something around 16,800 EXP. Of course you can get more bonuses (such as destroying 3 barriers in each round (125 EXP) and/or survive 3 explosions in one round (200 EXP)) and get more EXP.

This method is used best when you start from a low level to collect all the salvage as fast as possible. When you have all the salvage needed, switch to method #2 to grind out your EXP fast. The video below is provided by me and is based off https://www.trueachievements.com/HolyHa1fDead.htm ’s solution.

Method #2:
For this method, you will need one boosting partner and the following set up:
* Game mode: Free for All
* Map: Any you prefer
* Map options:
- Time limit: 20 minutes
- Executioner: On (Default setting, doesn't matter)
- Kills: 100
* Loadouts:
- Offensive: Accomplished Killer (unlocked by default)
- Survival: Doesn't matter
* Press X to make sure both of you start as a member of the Survivor class.

To grind your EXP fast, you both need to have a Grenade Launcher; hence why both of you need the Survivor-class. Go to the middle of the map and meet up with your partner. Stand in front of each other and press up on the D-Pad to equip the Grenade Launcher. Both of you need to shoot each other at the same time. This way you will both die and you will both be awarded for a kill. Do this the full 20 minutes and if everything goes as planned, you will be rewarded with around 92,000 EXP. This way, you will be done in no time and you will be level 60 quick. Credit goes out towards https://www.trueachievements.com/DigitaL+MadnezZ.htm for this method.

Note: While playing on the map "Underground" a sound can be heard when the bunker opens up. In there you can find a button that will start destroying the inside of the facility. Upon interacting with that button, you will get an additional 2 minutes to get kills. Activate this button in the last 30 seconds of your game to maximize your boosting. Big thank you too ForcefulOliver2 for pointing this useful hint out!

Other bonuses:
- Upon collecting 100,000 salvage in the multiplayer, you will receive an additional 50,000 EXP since you fulfilled the "Waste Not" achievement feat.
- Upon reaching level 60 (and unlocking the "True Commitment"-achievement) in multiplayer, you will get a bonus 10,000 salvage. Of course, after following this page, you will not need this.
- All bonuses can be found in the 'Multiplayer'-menu under the 'Feats & Setbacks'-feature.

Upon reaching level 60, you will unlock:

Now all that’s left is buying every single character, weapon and attachments with your hard earned salvage. After buying the last possible thing, you will unlock:

And that was all that there is to this game. I hope you enjoyed this guide as I’ve putted everything in there I can possibly offer you. Until next time!
