Welcome to the story mode walkthrough. We will go through each area and do all story missions while collecting the Skate-Ranch pieces as required. Since we are doing this on the lowest difficulty we are able to skip some missions so load up a new game and watch the opening cutscene.
HOLLYWOOD
Upon selecting your preferred skateboarder from the small selection, you will spawn in Hollywood, only to get mugged by a local who runs off with your bag. Thankfully, we are not alone in L.A. as Mindy will show up offering advice and acting as the tutorial for the start of the game.
Change your Look
The first mission has you simply look less out of place by changing your appearance. Go in and change your haircut at the barber as well to complete this simple mission. Note that you can always revert the look later.
Change your Clothes
Now go into the local clothes store and change our look a little more and you can really do whatever you want here. However, avoid running out of the area and just go straight for the shops to complete this simple bit of the game which nets you a nice amount of gamerscore as well:
Learn to Cave-man
This is the move that allows you to get off your skateboard and walk around. Mindy will introduce you to a skateboarder called Ian, who, in return, will want a date with her. It's simple enough, just use (
+
) to get off your board. Now do a simple grind
then
, and then cave-man (
+
), grind
then
. Watch Ian run away as Mindy approaches, and the mission is done.
Do a Sponsor Challenge
Mindy has a new objective for you to do a sponsor challenge. These are needed to get into the Am-Jam (Just hammer through them, they are all simple enough). So go up to the skate shop, and start the sponsor challenge on the left. Simply complete this for the mission.
Kickflip Whofleck
Affleck; Whofleck. Anyway, all you need to do for this one is do a kickflip over Whofleck while grinding the velvet ropes. To do this, approach the rope, jump, grind, and then jump over Whofleck (
+
).
Tony to Tony
Time to learn manuals and get another useful trick added to your abilities. First up, Duane will require you to do 3 manuals (Do
+
quickly).
Then the next mission requires you to go from Tony Hawk to Tony Alva while doing a manual (Remember cheats if you are stuck). Quickly do a manual, and let momentum do the work. Remember for this, as with the rest of this game, to hit retry mission if you fail, otherwise, you will need to kickflip Whofleck again.
Learn to Revert
See the quarter pipe in front? Skate up it, and when you get to the bottom, hit
.
Next up, the revert to manual is another common combo holder used in the Tony Hawk series. Again, go up the ramp, and then do
to
+
. That is it! Jump
out of it to finish the mission.
Get your stuff back
Now that we have some skills, it is time to beat that jerk who stole your stuff in a skate-off, which will involve out scoring him.
So to start off, either grind your way to victory within the area with the two quarter pipes or just do a lot of air tricks combined with the revert+manual.
Now that he is beat, he will run off with your stuff. Time to beat the jerk down. Skate over past the school to the entrance to Downtown. This is opposite to the place where you did the reverts. He will be grinding the half-moon rail, so pick a spot, and spam
. That should teach him. New skills: Whack
and throw
.
Get into Beverly Hills
Now we have had enough of Hollywood, it's time to move on to the next part of the game. Unfortunately, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Sheep are staging a protest outside the Galleria, and the only way to get past them is to drop a dinosaur head on the protest (Yes, really). So now having decided that is a logical approach to cleaning house, we shall need to pull off combos on sections of the roof.
So there will be three combos:
2,000 point trick: This should be not that big a deal as you have gotten used to combos now. Just air up on the side with the dinosaur head, and bust some tricks out for some damage to be done to the roof.
5,000 point trick: Slightly trickier but hardly worth sweating over, bust out some high point grabs like the Airwalk (
+
), and a hole in the floor should appear.
10,000 point trick: This is going to be tricky. However, if you are struggling to get enough air, remember to activate moon gravity to get the amount of air required. Also avoid the giant hole in the floor.
Now watch the protester receive primeval justice and see the next area opening up now that all of the protesters have fled.
BEVERLY HILLS
It's now time to open up the Skate-Ranch. However, the road ahead will be a bit longer as there are a few more tricks that you have to learn which range from useful to useless. As you enter Beverly Hills, you will get the introduction to Boone, Useless Dave and Murphy, all composing of a rather rag-tag mob of skaters.
Learn Natas Spin
Get introduced to the Natas Spin by the shirtless Kurt, which isn't really that bad. Execute a 3-second Natas Spin on the poles marked in front of you. Do this by doing an Ollie, or while off-the board, jump
then
+
.
Learn Parkour Tricks
The Frenchie will require you to perform several parkour tricks:
- Wallrun: Hold
when standing in front of a wall. Do this 3 times.
- Wall-flip: Hold
then as you run up do
+
. Do this 3 times.
- Shimmy: Hold
then
as you reach the top of the wall, then go left or right to shimmy.
- Front/back-tuck: Double tap
then
or
based on which one you want to pull off. Do 3 of these.
Which are 5 tricks of which you will only use one or two of them a lot.
Learn Spines, Flips, Rolls, Acid Drops, Banks
Alan will have a few tricks for you to learn. All are rather handy tricks to know:
- Spine Transfer: Simply hit up one of the quarter pipes (QP) and hit
so long as there is another QP on the other side. How much air you have will dictate whether you pull it off or not. Hip-transfers are a slightly different trick and are preformed when the two QP are not aligned. Do three spine-transfers.
- Flips Front/Back: Hold
as you would for a grab trick, then quickly double tap
or
to pull off a front or back flip.
- Rolls: Now to go in a different direction this time hold
then
or
for FS or BS rolls.
- Acid Drops: Run off the ramp, and on your way down, tap
and
.
- Bank Drops: Hit
to do a bank-drop. Different from a spine transfer-this is used when dropping down onto a ramp or angled surface.
This is then followed by an introduction to another neat pile of tricks to have:
Learn the Boneless and Boned Ollie
Josh has some tricks for us to learn which will help us to get more air:
- Boneless: Instead of jumping as you normally do, do this instead: quickly double tap
followed by
- Boned Ollie: All you need to do for this is tap
then hold
in the air to pull off and hold a boned Ollie. Don't forget to let go.
Learn Wall-Tricks
Jeff will now tell us how to do some wall tricks which are useful for clearing a few gaps:
- Sticker-slap: Jump towards a wall and then hit
to sticker-slap off the wall.
- Wall-plant: This time instead of a sticker-slap, we will do a wall-plant
+
. Variants of this include the Beanplant.
- Wall-ride: Approach any wall at an angle jump and hit
.This may turn into a grind rarely, but just remember to hit the wall at the right angle and it should be fine.
With that said another group of tricks has been added to our array of abilities and we move onto impressing the Ranch mob, Mindy will text the player reminding us of this so head on over to your choice of Murphy, Dave or Boone. For the sake of ease, we will cover Murphy as he is the simplest to complete.
Impress Boone/Dave/Murphy
So having settled on impressing Murphy for mission, we will track him down near the Hollywood entrance to begin. At this point Murphy wants us to do a wallrun to a wall-flip followed by a Natas Spin on a pole. Tricky? Somewhat, but it should only require a few runs to get the hang of it.
First cave-man (
+
) to make sure you are off your board, then run up to the wall indicated previously and do a wallrun (hold
) to a wallflip (
+
). Now as you flip, you will want to hit
+
to get on your board into a Natas spin. Try again if you miss.
Now we are allowed into the Skate-Ranch. Let's see this amazing place and we will unlock:
SKATE-RANCH
It is a bit of a dump and a bit bare for the moment, but don't worry as we will work on that shortly. Meet Iggy Van Zandt, the guy everyone apparently knows except for everyone playing the game. Fair bit of warning: he will not initially like you to start off with.
Skitching Sanchez
He will trust you to skitch his ballistic dog Sanchez who will help collect wood. So skitch the dog (Hold
, and then let go and enjoy the ride). A security guard will not take kindly to you skateboarding, but his opinion will quickly change with Sanchez at hand. Destroy the skateboarding sign here and we will skitch on to Hollywood. Once there, wait for Sanchez to scare the construction worker outside the Dinosaur Head location and destroy the sign. After you break the sign Sanchez will ditch you. Skate back to the ranch in time to finish the mission and get your first Skate-Ranch addition.
Learn the Bert Slide from Iggy
Now to use our new half-pipe and learn a bit more about Iggy's history. A bert slide is basically a ground based trick that is pulled off by holding
and using
or
to control the direction. Obviously you won't want it always going in a circle, so waggle the LS left to right to keep a snake like movement going. Just use the above controls and pull 3 off for this starting bit.
The second part then begins and involves doing a bert slide across the half-pipe. To do this, perform while waggling it left to right and getting the movement right. Essentially just play around a little bit with it to get the hang of it as it may take a few attempts to pull this off.
The final part involves going up the half pipe and around to the bottom. It's not too hard if just remember at the top of the half pipe to follow the markings down as you would normally. Congrats! You have learned the bert slide.
HOLLYWOOD
Buy the Dino Head
Now, we need to decorate the Skate-Ranch with some pieces from the outside world so let's start with out first bit of destruction; the dinosaur head. The guy there, Joey B, will obviously not hand it to you for free. He will want some cash first and if you have been completing tag spots as suggested then you should already have some cash. If not, do some tag spots, or find the bum and pull off the tricks he requests for easy cash.
Now we will buy the head off Joey B. to get our very first Skate Ranch piece. Return to the ranch when prompted, and see the crane drop in the dinosaur head, a story only gap has to be performed by airing across the entrance to the mound (Dinosaur Head Gap) here.
BEVERLY HILLS
Get the 69 Gas Station Sign
The gas station is right where the bus is and has the odd Dorito looking roof. Here Murphy will want you to pull off some tricks to get the sign. All we need to do is a spine transfer
, and then as we speed forward, hit
off the ramp, and as you approach the sign, hit
again to do a sticker slap. Watch the ensuing destruction, and enjoy yet another skate ranch piece.
Get the Metal Awning:
So Murphy has the Bag Shop arch as his target for destruction. He will call out grind tricks to pull off as you grind across the arch. There are ramps on either side, so keep getting air off of them to get onto the awning. To do this without too much stress, let it build up as you try to clear the first few tricks we will do, because we can clear a whole list each grind then save time for the harder grinds. For the harder grinds, you can enter a normal 50-50 grind
, and then mash the buttons for the grind until they register. This works a lot better than trying to land the grind right off the bat.
With that said, do all of the tricks, and this new bit of grinding rail will be added to the skate ranch.
Get the Naked Lady Statue:
For this skate ranch piece, Useless Dave wants us to get a statue from a secure area that requires getting past the security there. To do this, go the ladder on the right of the locked entrance, and remember to get off your board to climb up. Get back on your board, and drop into the garden.
Now to get the key to open the gate, we will need to do a simple Ollie. Once we have it, the gate will unlock for us. Now grind around the base area of the statue until the time runs down. Doing this will complete the mission. The Naked Lady Statue is delivered to the skate ranch.
Get the Green Top:
So Boone has one of the few annoying missions in the game. This one involves getting a Green Top from a building. Instead of doing some grinds or stalls, we have to mash the
button. Easy? Maybe. If it is not registering no matter how much you mash the button, then try the back clip of a metal, and rub the metal across the button ignoring whether it hits any buttons. This worked on the second go for me, as sometimes, your skater will ollie off and make you redo the whole process. With that PITA mission done, everything is, for the most part, downhill from here. Enjoy the new skate ranch piece.
Head back to the Skate Ranch when prompted unlike the last few times to unlock the next lot of missions in Hollywood.
HOLLYWOOD
Get the velvet ropes:
Duane has the perfect piece for the skate ranch, velvet ropes. Now because of us messing up Whofleck's hairdo, there is security everywhere, so we will need to ride in a pickup truck. The game will prompt both when to start and end the grind. Simply jump on and starting grinding when it says to, and jump as it says to. Otherwise, you will fail. Timing the jump at the end is the tougher part, so remember to jump as soon as you see the truck at the end of the grind.
Get the giant record needle:
Boone has another skate-ranch piece. It's a pretty short mission. Climb the ladder following Boone, and grind down the wire around the building to free the piece.
Get some stars:
Murphy will tell you about a guard who is watching the stars. He will run off for a toilet break. Now we will seize the chance and hit those shovels in a sort of grind; the bonk (
for air +
to skim off the shovel). Do this to all of the shovels to free up the stars. Time is rather limited for this mission, so be quick.
Now to finish them off, do a bank drop
+
on each star to finish this mission off and get some stars for the ranch.
Get the radio tower:
We are stepping it up here. We are taking a whole tower for the skate-ranch. First, we will need to get to the top of the theatre opposite of where we stole the rope and stars. Talk to the person there, and he will let you in. Meet Dave up there, who will want you to grind the support wires.
First, grind around the wire, and that will remove the wire destabilising the tower.
Now foot-plant the tower as a finishing move (legs of steel right?). Do this by getting air off the ramp, followed by
+
as you get close to the tower to knock it down.
Remembering how to do a Natas Spin, we will get to the end of the tower and do a short Natas Spin to finish it for good, and with that, we are done with Hollywood now until we collect the Hollywood sign.
Help Mr. D get into Downtown:
Mr D. wants to get into Downtown desperately, and he can open up the entrance for us using his 'bag of tricks'. However, he has a cop car that he needs cleared out.
To do this we will grind the straight ledge
+
right where we climbed to get the record needle and finish up with a bank-drop
on the cop car as we leave the ledge.
KABOOM! We are now off to Downtown, following after Mr D.
DOWNTOWN
Knock the Fire Escape Down:
This funny looking guy has a nice piece for the skate ranch, a fire escape. To knock it down, we skitch the car
until we reach the fire escape and barrel up the quarter pipe
. Do a lip trick on the lowest section (
+
) and hold it. Do this to the next two sections as well (Might need moon gravity) to get this piece.
Smashing the China Tower:
To get to Master Zen, we can either do a spine transfer up to the top or just use the front door to get up there.
Once up there, Master Zen will want us to use our head to break the tower (Don't worry about head injuries). All we need to do is grind the edge of the roof and ollie as we go under the roof (
). Do this until the tower launches off into another realm. Don't worry, as it will appear at the skate ranch.
Help Joey B. Get the Manhole:
Just near where we were, that construction worker from earlier will be wanting you to open up a manhole and will haul the street section to the skate ranch for free.
Okay, so there will be a ramp in front. Either use moon gravity or not. It only really helps for the last trick. As you air over the bit of the street, we need to bank-drop (Spam
) onto it. Do not worry about pulling off tricks until you enter the bank-drop if you are using moon gravity. Otherwise, you will shoot past the hole.
Learn the board stall:
Finally, the board stall. The Master will give us a skate ranch piece at the end of this.
First, we will demonstrate our skill with the board stall by doing it 3 times on the surrounding ledges and rails (
+
).
Now we will bring the Ventura Roadsign down (Another skate ranch piece). To do this, do a transfer (Air over the quarter pipe slightly to the left to start a transfer), and as you near the sign, do a board stall on the sign ([
+
). As we leap away, the sign collapses, opening up a new area part of the Ventura freeway and gains us a skate ranch piece.
Kick Off the Bell:
Murphy has another easy piece for our skate ranch.
Just pull off a Natas (
+
) on the bell, and hit the buttons called out on screen to weaken the bell.
Now pull off a wallplant (
) to finish it off.
Loosen the Pyramid:
Another easy one (Cheats?), we will need to gain a pyramid for our skate-ranch this time.
Climb up the ladder in front of you.
Pull off a Natas spin, and pull off the tricks on your screen (Yeah just like the bell).
Now we will simply smack it with our board after we climb the ladder (
).
Now we have a pyramid for us to Natas back at the ranch.
Learn Special and Focus:
Master Zen will now teach us special and focus so that we can win the AMJAM.
First, we will build up the special bar by doing a nice combo or just pulling off a bunch of tricks.
Now to use our focus for 6 seconds to fulfill this task, just grind the rail (Loading bay).
Now do the tailblock slide as pointed out on-screen (Remember to retry if you are running out of time), will need special and may take a few runs.
Now use special to do a 360 hardflip from the rails over the garbage cans. This may seem tough. Just remember that it is all about timing. Make sure the button presses are close enough together for it to register. Also make sure not to get carried away with flip tricks (There is no easy way to see if you pulled off, so practice and retry to go ahead with the gap).
We will have the AMJAM unlocked now. Just near the loading bay where we learned special is the entrance to Vans Park.
VANS PARK
Get into Tony Hawk's AMJAM:
We will head over to the guy doing registrations. However, he will say another guy has the last spot that we want. Let's beat him. Easy enough to do, as you hit up the quarter pipe where he is doing tricks, air up, and grind the metal above the pipe. Do this twice, and the skater will fall and injure himself. Now we have a spot.
Pay the Fee and get Sponsored:
Really nothing to this. You either have $50 to complete this or you do not. If not, hit up the tagger and the homeless guy to quickly get the cash needed to pay the fee.
The Tony Hawk AMJAM:
Well, here we are finally at the end (Nope sorry, only halfway). Let us win this competition and use our skills to get the points needed each round.
Each round, the lowest scorer is eliminated and so on until only one remains. We don't have to do much to win this. Just remember the important tricks like air tricks to reverts to manuals to get a massive combo. Back-flips and flatland tricks can build up a massive score. You will never need to get over 100,000 points (Comparatively Project 8 and Proving Ground will require millions of points in missions).
Once won, we will get Iggy busted by revealing that he is not dead (Faked death?), so answer Mindy's text, and high-tail it back to the skate ranch. We will get something more than a trophy at the end though:
Skate-Ranch:
Iggy will get busted, and that will be the end of this segment of the game. He will appear later to own your character. Time to get into Santa Monica and find out about Green Pipes Point.
BEVERLY HILLS
Prove yourself to skate-club:
The skate-club leader will want you to renounce corporations and trick on all the highlighted spots in the time limit to get into the skateclub. So we will need to simply grind on each object. Keep an eye on the timer, and this should not take too long.
Learn Flatland from the skate-club guys:
First, we will lose our clothes and the skate-club in our pants. Remember the first rule of skate-club is too not talk about skate-club.
To pull off a flatland trick, enter a manual (
+
), and then pull off the various combos called out (Pogo, spacewalk, casper)
Distract the Cops:
The Demolition Committee of Project Wasteland has the perfect plan to rid the Santa Monica entrance of cops and further their own objectives. Let's head on over to the hotel by skating through Rodeo Drive (The middle part of the map) and doing a spine transfer up to the hotel (
).
Okay, so the part sticking out has some red beams on it. We will being lipping those to collapse the hotel. The first beam is simple enough. Perform a lip as you reach the beam (
+
). Second beam above it is the same, and finally the second beam again following the combos called out. Now the cops will free up Santa Monica for us (Not quite there yet though).
Prove yourself to the Skate-Club 2.0:
Nothing too hard. Just have to prove your skills at flatland (Just mash buttons while in a manual). Beat the two guys they put up, and Daewon Song himself will rock up. Despite what he says, we will still make sure we beat him by mashing even more buttons.
SANTA MONICA
So being the king of button mashing, we have entered Santa Monica, only to find out we must prove ourselves again for Tony Alva this time.
Get to Alva's Bro:
In the courtyard to the left of where we entered Santa Monica is Alva's bro. He will bring up what appears to be a near impossible challenge.
Instead, we can do this two ways (Or just fail the mission to see how to do it, run out the timer):
- Grind the planter in front, ollie as it turns, and grind the back section of the courtyard until it bends to the next planter and grind that planter.
- Use moon gravity to jump from one planter to the other.
Use moon gravity to launch off the ramp and hit the roof for the next part, or you can grind the wires and ollie from there.
Again, moon gravity will get us to where he is. Just grind the planter, and air from it to the hit the floor of the courtyard without touching the ground.
Ride the Ferris Wheel and scare the birds:
The first part involves a lip trick onto the Ferris Wheel car and ride it for the full rotation.
Second part is to grind around the pier. Moon gravity may cause issues here as you have two jumps to make at the broken sections. Otherwise, it is simple enough to do.
Final part, we will grind the ropes and scare the seagulls. Just grind the rope until it ends. A second part will be the same. A caveman into a grind may be easier here.
Shoot the Valley Kooks:
A nice relaxing part of the game: just spam water balloons into the surfers to knock them off their boards and complete this part.
Rip out the Stairs. Impossible!:
We will need to clear the stairs and land on the marker, as well as doing an impossible (
+
)three times. This is not so bad. A boneless will help (

) if you are not using moon gravity.
Finally, hit it off with a 360 impossible (Rotate the stick in either direction
while pulling off the trick until it shows as a 360).
Joey B. will haul it to the ranch on the company's own dime (Not his lunch break).
Shark Attack:
This time, Mindy has a skate ranch piece, a nice easy one to get.
First, pull off an acid drop (
) from the ramp you launch from to loosen it up.
Next, pull off a stall on the nose (
+
) of the shark to break it free.
Show up 'The Man':
As we did last time we pulled something down with grinds, we will be letting them pile up and then doing a whole stack in one run. If you mess up, just jump into the water and respawn at the ramp. We will gain the skate-park sign for the ranch.
Tear down the Roof:
Okay, this can seem confusing due to the wording of cavemanning the rooftop. Just get off your board at the start (
+
), and then as you skate down, cave-man before you hit the ground. Do this three times, and the roof will collapse to the delight to the kids high on sugar.
Bomb the Hill with Tony Alva:
Okay, time to finally show your stuff to Tony Alva himself. Beat the tests to finish this mission and move on.
First, do a pogo down the hill, get some speed, and hit it down the hill. Pogo (
+
while in a manual), speed will build up as you go down, just avoid the cones.
Next do a handstand, same rules apply as before (
+
to enter a handstand while in a manual).
Finally, we will need to do the hardest trick, the bert-slide. This is not so bad if you first hold down
and then do careful
+
movements. If you bail, restart. If you hit the end and bail; restart. This is better than doing the first parts again.
You will get:
Scare Away the Carny:
First, we will need to hop a bus to Hollywood and buy the alien suit from the clothing store there. It will be in the shirt section and will cost a fair amount of money. Remember to do tag missions or just skate for the homeless guy, and then buy that suit.
Now speak to Tony Alva, and he will want you to create-a-trick to scare the Carny.
First part is to create-a-trick, just throw whatever you want into it, and save the trick.
Now practice a little bit to get the hang of it (It is a grind trick, and the game gives you the trick controls when you create it).
Now start the mission, and grind the rail in front of the Carny, avoiding the roller-coaster cars coasting along the rail. Restart if need be as the line up at the start is perfect. Once successful, the Carny will run off.
Now Natas spin the control box, and follow the tricks called out (They will inform you if you miss a trick) to cause the Ferris Wheel to topple. A boat will come along now, allowing you finish up here and move on.
Pay the Ship Captain:
Really easy: just pay the captain for petrol and mess around on the boat while it drives to the Oil Rig.
OIL RIG
Feed the Shark:
Mega needs his shark fed, so grind the yellow curves (Cleats), and acid drop into a grind to the next one.
Grind from the coiled cable to the rail over the water. Grind this until it ends in a gap, and jump to feed the shark!
Help Mega Blow Up the USGAS Sign:
First head up the lift in front of you.
Now grind the angled pipes to hit the explosives for the first one. Then jump onto the next one and grind up. Finally, head downwards to hit the final one.
Final part, grind from the yellow rail, and ollie onto the next to grind the oil tower to the top. At the top, hit the sign with a wallplant to cause a few things to happen.
Tear off the Corner Piece:
Okay, to do this we will need to grind the yellow rail to the left. Jump when prompted, and grind the corner piece until it says land it. Instead, jump to grind the final rail.
Drop the Grate and Balls:
Climb the ladder of the crane as the worker says.
Okay, we will be completing a large-scale skee ball course, so skate down the crane, and launch yourself clear of the crane. Now just acid drop into each bowl as indicated until you reach the end. At the end, wallplant the grate to end the mission and get another skate ranch piece.
Destroy the Antennas
A welder has caused a pile-up of ships outside. We will need to clear it up for him by destroying the antennas.
Follow the scaffold to the end, and spine transfer down into the boat. Now continue spine transferring each boat. The middle spine transfer for each boat will destroy the antenna. Otherwise, get off your board, and destroy them with your head. There are three boats.
Dismantle the Combo Pipes
So there are three valves in odd spots that we will need to grind to free up. We will need to do this in one combo. First, grind the closest pipe until we hit the valve, then jump to the next, and then onto the final one hitting the valve on each pipe. The final valve may be a tricky one, so make sure you have the speed to hit it.
Get Off the Oil-Rig:
For this mission, all walkways and all elevators are not there to be used. We will have to get to the helipad without them. First, hit the ramp to air across the gap, now skate to the helipad, and use the red quarter pipes to spine transfer to the top.
Finally, we will need to spine transfer from the helipad to the pipe where indicated to break the seal. Mission complete.
Mindy will text us about an emergency at the ranch, so we will need to head over there and help Mega get the crane working.
Skate-Ranch:
Help Mega Oil the Crane:
The crane needs some lubricants to get working, so we will need to climb up there using the ladder, and once at the top, we must spray the spots indicated. (
) This is not so hard to do. Remember if you fall off, it will simply spawn you back up there. Go to either side of the crane, walking carefully to avoid falling or getting knocked off by the wire to spray the two tough spots.
Now we find out Boone has gotten himself in trouble with the Black Widowz. We will net for this section:
The Snake RunMega begins digging up the Snake Run at the Skate Ranch!

DOWNTOWN
Beating the Black-Widowz:
After finding out that Boone is in trouble with the Black-Widowz, we will need to head on over to bail him out. Of course, we will have to drive over to Downtown whereby going to the back most corner, we find a bunch of Black-Widowz blocking the entrance to East LA. In order to get through, of course, we will need to go through a range of challenges.- First up, we are told that Hector will only talk to us if we have a Black Widow tattoo on our chest.
So before we proceed, we will need to head over to Santa Monica.
Once there, head to the local tattoo parlor, and cough-up the cash for a sick tat on your chest (Will need to take your shirt off to put it on)- While you are in Santa Monica, make sure you have unlocked the Santa Monica stencils from the spray painting challenges. Then we will create a custom graphic with each stencil (The top four Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Downtown, and Santa Monica)
Now let’s head back to Downtown to tackle the challenges. Manual through all 24 markers, initiate spacewalk if you lose speed to keep going.
Now for a more annoying mission, you will need to tag 4 locations. The first three are easy. However, a rival tagger will seek to make your life hard. So after spot 4, head back pronto to re-tag the first spot and probably the second spot as-well.
The final mission will entail some simple BMX riding, which will require 3 of the relevant challenges to be completed. It won't take all that long to do all of them and will help out later on. Once this is done, start the mission, and follow the trick prompts for the first 3 parts of this mission. Finally, we will need to do a manual (
forward) all the way down to the tunnel and finish up with a wallplant (
). Now we can head on over to help Boone out.
EAST LA
Talk to the Black Widowz:
Now go find the Black Widowz after going through the tunnel and over to other side of the map. This time, you will be saving Boone's pants. Start by getting off your board(
+
). Then whack all 3 red sprinklers (
). It may take a few hits, and then grind the sprinkler and the spear to unleash a series of events.
Save Boone:
Now to go over to the drainage pipe shown during the cutscene to free Boone from his prison, he will ask you to whack the boards away and throw him a board. Whack the boards 2 or 3 times, and then throw the board (
) to him. Once that is done, watch Boone ride off.
Take down the Coyote Runners sign:
Ok, so now there will be a few skate ranch piece missions. Do this one by the limo on the map to continue the story. First grab the sign, then grind it, and finally wallplant it. Doing this will give you a text message from Mindy about an urgent issue at the skate ranch, so high-tail it back to the skate-ranch.
Take the mattress:
Useless Dave has found a mattress for you, a blood-stained and manky one at that, but a bed nonetheless, and all you have to do is take care of the bum using the bed. Do a grind as shown by the pointer, and at the end, jump and then do an acid drop on it (
). This will knock the bum off and get you the mattress.
Last task is to get the car-parts. Just grind the line, and then combo-runout before the stairs to re-line up and then grind down the stairs before the combo runs out to complete the mission.
Skate ranch piece:
Car Parts
Chopper Drop:
To get to the police department rooftop, there is a garage entrance on the left side opposite to the one that faces the train station. Just go in there, and then at the top, talk to Boone. Grab the chopper (
), and prepare to drop on the shack as it flies over to that location. Once there, perform an acid drop (
+
), and then once it is attached to the chopper, an angry Cholo will need to be kept impressed. Do this by performing a manual, and pull off the tricks called out on screen.
Next up is a simple bank-drop onto a couch. With that done, you get two new Skate Ranch Pieces:
Skate-park Office
Sofa
Skate-Ranch:
Some jerk trying to take out Mega:
So of course, there is someone trying to make life hard, and that means that you will need to stop them. This union worker is determined to take out Mega and put a stop to the crane. Murphy will sprint off to get money. So this will be the hardest part of the game if you have no idea how to use the cannon. Simply aim above the union worker, and hold the
to unleash a torrent of water balloons. It will require 10 or more hits to take him out, and it may take some trial and error to do this. To save time, just reload mission if you miss too many shots.
After the union worker plummets to the bottom, Murphy will return with the money that needs to be taken to Joe B. Take this money to outside the BH to HW tunnel in Hollywood to get a cut-scene. Iggy will call and inform you of even more bad news, thanks again to his shady dealings, the park is not actually owned by Iggy and would be lost to Iggy if they find out about Green Pipes Point. So answer Mindy's text confirming your worst fears, and head back to the skate-ranch to find out what is going on.
BEVERLY HILLS
After entering Beverly Hills and watching a bunch of cutscenes, you are informed by Murphy, Useless Dave, and Boone that the best way to save Green Pipes Point is to impress the pros.
Should pop after the cut-scenes:
Tony Hawk:
The Birdman will have a few challenges for you to do involving his invented tricks: a spine transfer with an air-walk, a hurricane across a ledge, a gymnast plant, and the 900 of course. These are all relatively simple with moon gravity on, and remember to quickly press both d-pad directions before pressing the button to execute the trick. So with that said, there is not a whole lot else to do. He will join your video after you do a 900 and unlock that trick.
Dwane Song:
Do a double bluntside to a heelflip, and then end in a manual to impress Dwaeon Song. Pretty simple to do.
HOLLYWOOD
Andrew Reynolds:
First up, he will want you to follow a line of his, which pertains to 3 grind lines on a velvet rope in front, a yellow barrier to the left, and then in front a red curb to grind until you are at Bronson back-spot. Now a rookie filmer will try to get Andrew to do a stunt. However, he passes on it leaving you to do the stunt. You will need 50K worth of points before entering the cave. Simply pull off a manual outside the cave, and knock together some flatland tricks by spamming buttons. Then cave-man and run into the cave. It doesn't matter if you go out of bounds. Reynolds is now impressed enough to join.
Rodney Mullen:
He is another easy one to impress. In front of you will be stairs, and Rodney will want you to perform 10 unique tricks. Make sure moon gravity is turned off. Fairly simple flips, grinds, and grabs alone will get you through really quickly.
Final task will be to demonstrate your own abomination (I mean create-a-trick) to him 3 times, so before starting this, you will need to use the create-a-trick icon there to mash together some tricks. Just initiate a manual, followed by
. After doing this 3 times, he will join. Simple.
DOWNTOWN
Mike V:
Get some sick footage for Mike V. For this, all you need to do is to pull off 3 triple flip tricks, moon gravity off. Doing this will quickly impress him.
Tony Trujillo:
Not so simple, keep moon gravity off. Grind ledge to get air, and then pull off assorted grab tricks and then grind the ledge on the other side.
Second part, moon gravity on. Do 4 spine transfers in a combo, the last one will be tricky. However, remember the combo spine transfer, revert, and then manual. (
,
,
If you don't bail on the last spine transfer, you will get a special trick transferred to you and have another impress pro.
Paul Rodriguez:
Paul's drive has conveniently dropped shoe boxes that form a simple line to follow. Grab only 30 of these to impress this pro. You do not have to get these in one combo, although that does help reaching the last few. With that pro impressed, we will move onto Vans Park.
VANS PARK
Ryan Sheckler:
Drop the jeep. Follow the line, and the at end, it will want you to grind a support beam of sorts. Just keep grinding it, and it should detour towards the jeep across a wire. Now just
to natas, and the jeep will drop down impressing Sheckler.
Mat Hoffman:
If you hate the bike controls in this game, this mission will be the ultimate PITA. At first it starts simple, do a flair by do a backflip (
+
back) then rotate 180 degrees for it to change to a flair. Moon gravity helps with that, and then do a decade for the next part. Simply do a tire-tap (Bunny hop
and then tap
), and then do a decade (swing
left or right).
Now for the final part. Remember to disable moon gravity and hit retry mission if the timer is too close, remembering that it will spawn you where you are at the time rather then teleport you to the location. So you will need to do doubles with Mat, he will do short lip tricks, and you have to do unique tricks over him. Do 5 and this is complete. This one is tricky. However, if you did the tutorials earlier, you will know crankflips, barspins, backflips, rotations, frontflips, flairs, x-ups, supermans, and tabletops among others. Remember timing is crucial, and without that timing, it will take quite some time to get a decent enough setup.
SANTA MONICA
Bob Burnquist:
So he has some sort of renewable or environmentally friendly ramps he needs to prove are better than the old ones. Hold a lip trick (
+
), and he will skate over you. Now he will skate off, so spine transfer into the bowl above the ramp you tricked on, and to the left are some rails between the buildings. Skate through, and do two spine transfers to quickly get down to him.
Now you will trick over him. Ignore the timer, wait for him to get set up, and then do a simple trick over him (Not with moon gravity). Now off he goes to the end of the pier where he will wait for you again. Once there, you will need to jump over a bowl at the end of the pier and grind the wood to get to the otherside. Once there, do a lip trick, and a cutscene will play out between Burnquist and Alva. After that, he will pull off the trick. Now watch another cutscene, and you have Burnquist in your pro collection.
Tony Alva:
Alva likes it old-school, so naturally, he will pick an old dodgy looking bowl. He will call out tricks, which may be quicker done without moon gravity. Next after those grab tricks, he will call-out combos up to you whether you use moon gravity or not. Finally, he will call out a mega combo which we can bust out with moon gravity. With him impressed, we are done with Santa Monica.
EAST LA
Stevie Williams:
So Stevie wants to see some impressive Nollie gaps for him to join the video. First up, it will be a simple Nollie gap (
to change stance while moving as showing in the top left corner). After that, he wants a slightly more impressive gap coupled with a hardflip. Moon gravity should help a bit. Next up, he will have another gap across two rooftops landing in a manual, so nollie, and do the trick landing in a manual. After that, do a triple heelflip to a kicker, which will require a little bit of timing to hit the gap, and bank-dropping may make you land elsewhere. Finally, after all that, he will just want a boned ollie across a large gap (Yep, moon gravity). With him impressed, we move onto the final pro before going into the casino.
Bam Margera's Crazy Challenge:
So Bam will, of course, like a few other pros, want you to do some warm up tricks. He will call it out in the standard prompt. Make sure your board is facing the ledge before doing this grind. After a little trial and error, you should hit it, although depending on the next bit, you may have to go back and do this again.
So he will want a backflip done over him while he does an axle-stall. The time limit only allows one shot, so retry mission mid-trick if you know you will bail or not get the trick. This sometime registers and sometimes does not, so it may be a little frustrating. Just remember to hold
before doing
on the d-pad.
Now having seen your great skills, he will mention a wage with some humorous stakes. Thankfully, we will not need to give the bum a foot manicure with our teeth if we succeed. So stall on the shopping trolley as prompted, and just sit back while the ride goes down the hill. Bam is impressed, and the opportunity for the next area is open for us.
Taco Truck:
Yep, a taco truck feeding hombres of the Black Widowz is parked near the entrance to the casino, so we will need to pay $100 to the lady to have them crash through the gates. Now your crew will join forces with you again, except Mindy, to tear up the Casino. This will net you:
CASINO
So enter the casino from East LA, and proceed to help Iggy, Murphy, Boone, and Useless Dave out with assorted tasks.
Old lady target practice:
Iggy has a task for you to hit a lost group of old ladies wondering around the casino. Spam water balloons at them as they enter. A few will wander and get stuck on light posts, so just pick them off. Easy, hey?
Ranch Piece: Floodlight:
Will require a wallplant to knock it down the first time (
+
) and then a to-tail (
+
) to finish off. For the to-tail, remember to air above it, and then on the way down, perform the trick.
Boone Special Transfer:
So Master Zen makes a brief re-appearance here to remind you of special, which will be needed to give Boone his concentration to get the Ranch Piece Elevator and Escalator. Just do a combo using manual, grinds, and air tricks to quickly build up special, and run over to Boone and press
. Keep an eye on the pink meter, and once the timer hits zero, the escalator will disappear like magic.
Ranch Piece: Triple 777:
Murphy has another sick-piece for the Ranch. This one requires doing a stall and covering tricks called out, and then doing a grind around the middle section of the enclosure. This is all fairly simple with infinite grind, so once done, it will disappear as normal and will end up at the skate ranch.
Ranch Piece: Trippy Pool Thingy:
This time, Iggy has another great piece for the ranch, a strange metal object. To get this, you will need to three spines to get there. First up, we will climb the diving board in front, and acid drop (
+
), followed by a spine transfer into the bottom pool. Now stall on the metal object, and you are done!
Spine Dave and Boone:
Simple and short. Just spine transfer over both Dave and Boone to complete this. Dave will require a kickflip, and Boone a triple-kickflip over them. Nothing that you have not done before.
Collect the chips:
Murphy has a money-making scheme involving selling gambling chips on the black-market. The only problem is that they are scattered across the Casino. No sweat, as you have 25 whole minutes, way more than enough time to pass this. First, grind or caveman onto the ceiling fixtures in front to collect the first few, they cover both sides of the fixtures. Now onto the next area, these are across one side of the room leading to an elevator going to the top of the Casino. Once up at the top, these cover all of the pools and a couple of the ledges.
Missing one? This one is hidden on the diving board mentioned before where the gaps LEFTY and RIGHTY are. Also, an elevator leads to it, and you did an acid drop from it before. Once all 55 are collected, the mission will end as normal.
Final Mission:
Once you have completed some of the missions above, a cut-scene will play-out. Ignore it, and finish the other missions or complete the final mission. The cops are out in force looking for the felons. However, we need to evade them to get back to the Green Pipes Point to buy it back.
So once outside, Murphy will inform you of the dilemma, and you will notice the normal countdown timer. A cop is patrolling the tunnel to East L.A. Simply skate up the hill in front to get a red message. No, you will not fail. This just avoids getting nailed by the police chopper. Now you will spawn outside the tunnel. Now rush off to East LA to Downtown sewer tunnel. So skate on the left side of the street, drop down into the sewer drainage, and skate into the exit on the left side.
Now we skate through the tunnel into Downtown LA. Skate up the hill, and hang a right and another right to end up on the main-street. Keep going forward until you see the metro entrance to Hollywood on the left-side corner at the end of the street. Enter here to get to the next checkpoint of the level.
Once in Hollywood, high-tail it down the left street towards the Beverly Hill Galleria. Ignore the cop on the left. Once in there, this will lead to another checkpoint and the last hurdle to finishing the story-mode. Beverly Hills is simple enough. Keep going forward. Ollie and flip-trick away from the police chopper's spotlight to avoid failing. Once in the tunnel at the end of the road to the left, go into the skate-ranch to complete the game.
