3. Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Story walkthrough

You can do these achievements in any order you like, so feel free to skip part of the walkthrough and go back to it if you decide to take a different route. However as you know I will do these achievements within a strict order should you wish to follow it. So let's "CHOOSE YOUR DESTINY!!"

Step 1: Campaign

If you are new to the Mortal Kombat games, then I think a good idea is to just simply practice to gain some experience into the game. Your first step is to go through and complete the campaign. This will be the hardest step to do throughout the entire game, so don't be surprised if you get stressed or frustrated at this game since the enemies can be very skilled.

You only need to complete the campaign once and it can be done on any difficulty. For that reason I recommend you do it on Novice, since that will give you the least amount of stages you need to play in order to reach Shao Khan. You can choose any character you want, and you have unlimited continues. If you lose the match twice, you get a 10 second countdown to Continue. When this happens simply press cn_start and then you can either choose the same or different character and retry the stage. In some cases certain characters are better to use than others.

Double Time

Complete a 2 hit combo against the CPU.

Double Time

As you go through the campaign, you are bound to unlock some achievements whilst playing through the story. This will most likely be your first. To get it you just need to perform a 2-Hit Combo. Nearly every character in the game can do a 2-Hit Combo, and it's easiest done with a Multiple Punch move, which can be done by pressing cn_X repeatedly. The character I used to get this achievement is Smoke.

Note: You can only get this achievement against a Computer Opponent. It cannot be done with a 2nd Controller or an XBox Live Player.

Match Three

Reach the third MATCH in any single player tournament.

Match Three

For this achievement, you just need to reach the third stage. Once you have reached it the achievement will unlock. You will be around a quarter done of the campaign if you are playing on the Novice difficulty.

Match Five

Reach the fifth MATCH in any single player tournament.

Match Five

For this achievement, you just need to reach the fifth stage. Once you have reached it the achievement will unlock. You will be around half way into completing the campaign, if you are playing on Novice difficulty.

Combo Number 5

Complete a 5 hit combo against the CPU.

Combo Number 5
2 guidesOffline Game ModeSingle Player

This achievement is a little tricky to get. You need to get a 5-Hit Combo, which means it'll be 5-Hits in a row. The best method into getting this achievement is to either attempt Multiple Punch (press cn_X repeatedly), when the opponent is trapped next to a wall, or practice the character your using and use multiple moves that allow you to hit the opponent constantly without getting hit yourself. The best character I would say to get this achievement is Cyrax. He seems to have a punch and elbow move that has a 5 - 6 Combo Chain in total.

Note: You can only get this achievement against a Computer Opponent. It cannot be done with a 2nd Controller or an XBox Live Player.

Ultimate

Become the champion in any single player tournament.

Ultimate
5 guidesOffline Game ModeSingle PlayerMain Storyline

This is the hardest achievement to do throughout the entire game. You'll get this one after you have beaten the campaign. By the time you have passed the fifth match, you will notice the last 3 stages are the same as any other difficulty. To give yourself an idea of what you'll witness, I'll give you some information, tips and advice.

Endurance Match: In an Endurance Match, you will have to go against 2 randomly selected opponents (beside the last 2 in the game). When you start the match you will have to take out the first opponent who stays in the arena with you. Once he or she is eliminated, the 2nd one will jump in and take their place. Your health will not be restored and the timer will not stop. You must defeat both opponents in 2 rounds to reach the next stage. If you fail and you lose a round, you'll have to defeat the 2 opponents once again.

Tips: Don't put yourself too far from your opponents, since they'll likely do a flip jump to the opposite side of the screen and try and kick you. If you have someone like Reptile, Scorpion or Smoke they may try and grab you with their spikes or grapples. Run and keep close to your opponent and try to perform constant combos so that your opponent doesn't stand a chance against you. Block is also your best friend in these matches.

Motaro: Motaro is half human, half horse or dragon? He has a habit of galloping around the arena and attempting to grab you. If he grabs you, he will smack you across the screen so you'll need to move quickly or he will do it again on the other side. He also has a laser beam which he can shoot from his tail and he may try and smack you with his fist. Special Attacks do not work against Motaro so you cannot freeze, trap him in a net or grab him with a spike/grapple.

Tips: An aerial character is the best person to beat Motaro. Choose someone who is fast at jumping, and can keep on performing forward jump kick manoeuvres. Jump kicks also work as well. The head is his weak point as his body will not take too many hits so keep that in mind when your attacking him.

Shao Khan: The Final Boss in the game. Most people will say he is just as hard as Motaro, but I would say he is much worse. The good news is that you can use your Special Attacks against Shao Khan. The bad news is that Shao Khan is very strong and every attack he does takes severe damage. He can even give you damage if you are blocking. Shao Khan's attacks include a Laser Ball, which can be dodged if ducked under. A dash attack which he either performs straight or diagonal. A hammer attack which if not blocked will badly freeze you for a short period of time. And he has habits of taunting you by either laughing or pointing.

Tips: A fair fight against Shao Khan is impossible, so the only way your going to beat him twice is to use tricks and tactics. The best method is choose a character who can perform a Special Attack to sting Shao Khan for a short period of time, and then giving him a Uppercut (cn_LSd then cn_A). Once you have done this you'll need to get a little closer to Shao Khan (since the uppercut will make him fly right or left for a bit), then rinse and repeat the process until he is defeated. This will take some time to get used to, and another disadvantage is that because the game is on the XBox 360, the Framrate has increased, allowing Shao Khan to possibly perform an attack before you can use a Special Attack. Also if he does his dash attack, try and uppercut when the dash is completed.

To help you get an idea on how to beat Motaro and Shao Khan, I have posted a couple videos to help you...

This video will guide you on how to defeat Motaro and Shao Khan. It also points out the strategies you need to use. Credit for the video goes to AmazingGamingChannel...

The character I used to beat Shao Khan is Cyrax. Cyrax has a Netting Ability that traps the opponent in a net. I used this and then uppercut Shao Khan, rinse and repeated. Here is the video I used to practice the combo on, credit goes to JuggerBG...

To do the Net you need to press Back twice (cn_LSl Or cn_LSr, and then the Left Kick move (cn_B)

Step 2: Misc Offline Achievements (Straight After The "Ultimate" Achievement)

As you are watching Shao Khan getting blown up, you should unlock the "Ultimate" achievement for completing the campaign. But we are far from over as there are some offline achievements you may have not obtained yet...

Beat the Noob!

Beat the hidden character, Noob Saibot while playing the CPU.

Beat the Noob!
7 guidesOffline Game ModeSingle Player

When you have defeated Shao Khan, you are awarded with a selection of prizes you can choose from. The third option from the left which looks like a reversed 3, is the one you need to choose. You will be in a match against Noob Saibot. He is like an Invisible Form of Scorpion, but he cannot do Special Attacks. A problem with him is that he can be quite good at fighting and combos. If you we're to beat him successfully in 2 rounds, you will successfully get this achievement when the credits scroll. If you fail then there are two options which you can take...

If you have 1 controller: Sadly you'll have to complete the campaign again and beat Shao Khan in order to give yourself another opportunity to fight Noob Saibot.

If you have 2 controllers: Consider yourself lucky since there is a glitch you can use in the game that allows you to challenge Noob Saibot, without beating the campaign. You'll need 2 controllers for this to work. First you need to go into Tournament and put the player who is winning the matches as Kano. The 2nd player who is losing can be anyone. You will now be in a Tournament and all you have to do is keep on winning the matches as the Kano you are playing. When you get down to the final Kano and win the last match in the Tournament, you'll be presented with the same prize as if you completed the campaign. Select the reverse 3 again. Now Kano has an attack which can glitch Noob Saibot. Simply allow Noob to get close to you, and just rapidly tap the cn_A button to perform the multiple punch attack. Noob attempts to dodge the attack, but seems to get stuck and gets hit all the time. Eventually Noob will lose all his health, and you will be crowned the winner of the round. Repeat a 2nd time and then you'll get the achievement and the credit screen.

Here is a video of the glitch getting performed to help you have an idea of what you need to do towards this achievement. Credit for the video goes to gokuren...

Flawless

Complete a Flawless victory against the CPU (1 round).

Flawless
4 guidesOffline Game ModeSingle Player

If you use the "Beat The Noob" method with the 2nd controller, there is a high chance that you will get a Flawless Victory. If you do get one then you'll also get this achievement. Simply enough a Flawless Victory is for winning a round without getting hit. You only need to get a Flawless Victory in one round for this achievement to unlock and if you are skilled in the game, you probably have obtained this by now during your campaign playthrough.

Note: You can only get this achievement against a Computer Opponent. It cannot be done with a 2nd Controller or an XBox Live Player.

Soother

Complete a Babality against the CPU.

Soother
2 guidesOffline Game ModeSingle Player

Apart from the Flawless Victory Achievement, this is the only other one you need to do against a computer controlled player. To get this achievement you'll need to get a Babality Award. This is when you turn your opponent into a baby.

Now an important thing you must take note of is that you cannot use your Block move throughout the entire match (cn_RT), as this will disable the ability to do a Babality. Play the match and attempt to defeat your opponent in 2 Rounds. When the announcer says "FINISH HIM/HER!", this is your chance to get the Babality. You have to be quick because if you take too long, your opponent will fall on his/her back and you will get a win. Whilst the game is in the Finish Him/Her Mode you must press the correct buttons on the chosen character in order to create a Babality.

Whilst I could have created a large list of all the moves you need to do on each character in order to get a Babality, I have chosen the easiest characters. Here are 2 to choose from...

Scorpion

cn_LSd, Back, Back, Forward, cn_X

Kabal

cn_LT, cn_LT, cn_B

Note: You can only get this achievement against a Computer Controlled Opponent. It cannot be done with a 2nd Controller or an XBox Live Player.

Step 3: Online

The remaining achievements you need to do in the game require you to play online via Xbox Live. On a side note at one time during Midway's Bankruptcy the Ranked Online Servers were shutdown. You were able to get a couple of the achievements via Player Matches, but players were unable to get the "Competitor" and "Century" Achievements for a short while. Thanks to Warner Bros and Neatherealm who bought the rights to the Mortal Kombat Franchise, the Ranked Servers have re-opened, so you can now play online in Ranked Matches, and get 200G on this game once again.

Now the main drawback you're going to have is that not many people own this game as much as what they used to, and as such it'll be a bit more difficult finding people who can help you boost the online achievements. If this is the case, check the boost list or look and see if anyone has created any sessions for the game on the site.

Among all of the online achievements, 2 of them can be earned in Player or Ranked Matches whilst the other 2 need to be done in Ranked Mode. With this in mind, you have 2 choices in which you can either do all of the online achievements in Ranked Matches or do the "Fatality" and "My Friend" achievements in Player Matches first, and then move onto Ranked Matches for the "Competitor" and "Century" achievements.

Despite that it sounds longer, I recommend you do "Fatality" and "My Friend" achievements in Player Matches. The simple reason is because when your in a Ranked Match, after it has been completed you will need to return to the Xbox Live Menu, and then either re-host or search for a match. If you do Player Matches however, both players will still remain in the lobby after the match has been completed. So all that would need doing is for both players to Press cn_A to Ready Up and then you can restart another match instantly.

Fatality

Complete a Fatality during an Xbox Live Versus game.

Fatality
2 guidesOnline Game ModeVersus

By now you should know what a Fatality is. But if you haven't seen one, a Fatality is a move that allows the winning person to brutally punish the loser. This will include blood, gore and intense violence.

Whoever is taking the win just needs to play the match and defeat your opponent in 2 Rounds. When the announcer says "FINISH HIM/HER!", this is your chance to do a Fatality. You have to be quick because if you take too long your opponent will fall on his/her back and you will get a win. Whilst the game is in the Finish Him/Her Mode, you must press the correct buttons on the chosen character in order to get a Fatality.

Here are a couple characters you can choose from, which are known to be the easiest...

Kitana

Back, cn_LSd, Forward, Forward, cn_Y

Sub Zero

cn_RT, cn_RT, cn_LT, cn_RT, cn_LT

Tip: One of the levels in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 contains a Lava Pit. If you get this arena simply defeat your opponent, and when the announcer says "FINISH HIM/HER", get close to your opponent and then perform the Uppercut (cn_LSd and cn_X). Instead of your opponent doing a flying fall, he/she will go flying up in the air and land in the pool of lava. This is a Fatality! TOASTY!!

My Friend

Complete a Friendship during an Xbox Live Versus game.

My Friend
1 guideOnline Game ModeVersus

This achievement is slightly more difficult to obtain. A Friendship is a move in which instead of defeating your opponent, you spare him/her and perform an unusual taunt.

Note: You must not use the Block feature throughout the entire match when attempting the Friendship (cn_RT).

Whoever is taking the win just needs to play the match and defeat your opponent in 2 Rounds. When the announcer says "FINISH HIM/HER!", this is your chance to get a Friendship. You have to be quick because if you take too long your opponent will fall on his/her back, and you will get a win. Whilst the game is in the Finish Him/Her Mode you must press the correct buttons on the chosen character in order to get a Friendship.

Here are a couple characters you can choose from, which are known to be the easiest...

Jade

Back, cn_LSd, Back, Back, cn_Y

Cyrax

cn_LT, cn_LT, cn_LT, cn_LSu

I've found a (funny) video, which will help guide you into getting this achievement. Now the achievements description is different because this video guide is intended to be for the game Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection Achievements, but the method will work for this game as well. Credit for the video goes to teamxblaachievements...

These last 2 online achievements, which were once discontinued can only be done in Ranked Matches. They will be the most time consuming online achievements for you to get in the game. The good news is that there is a little scheme you can use with yourself and your partner in order to get the achievements faster...

1. The person who is winning the Ranked Match needs to host.

2. As soon as they have hosted the match, the partner needs to join the match as quickly as possible.

Note: The main problem with these achievements is that even though this game has been de-listed, there are fans and randoms that have a bad habit of joining boosters games and spoiling them. They may even chase you around just to get into a game with yourself, so beware.

Tip: If you are the host, "DO NOT READY UP!!" If you Ready Up, and a Random Player joins the match they will most likely Ready Up, and you will have to either play the match against them or quit and re-host. Only Ready Up when your boosting partner arrives in the lobby.

3. When your partner has joined the lobby, both of you Ready Up by pressing cn_A. You will be taken to the Character Selection Screen.

4. When the Character Selection Screen appears, simply get the person who has joined the match to quit. The Host will then be taken back to a lobby, and will be given a win, since they stayed behind in the game. Whilst they are doing this, the other player can then host a match allowing you both to take turns. Rinse and repeat until you both get the achievement.

Note: Both achievements will not unlock after your won your 10th and 100th Match respectfully. In order to get the achievements, you'll have to get to the Character Selection Screen once more, and then the achievement will unlock in that menu. This means you'll need to do 11 and 101 Matches to get both achievements. Unless of course you play out the 10th and 100th matches.

By using this method, it will roughly take 1hr - 1hr 30m for 1 person to get 100 Wins equally around 3+ hours for both players.

Tip: You can check and see how many matches you have won by looking at the right side of your name on the lobby screen. W means Wins and L means losses.

And if you have followed the walkthrough up to this point, you should now have all 12 Achievements in this game worth 200G! Congratulations!

Conclusion

This game is known to have mixed reactions when it comes to the difficulty. The simple reason is because if you have played and experienced the game in the past, you will already have some idea on what you will be witnessing on this version. Sadly it got to the point where I found the game rather difficult and I couldn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to.

If you still have this game but have not yet started it, I recommend you take a "Trial Version" of Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection Achievements as that contains Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, so you can always try that game out if you are not sure if you want to do this one.

If you truly want to play this game despite it's removal from the marketplace, the Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection Achievements game features this game along with the first two. Best of luck with the completion of this game.
