Olympic Mode
This game mode in Vancouver is as close as one is going to get to a campaign mode. Here you have the opportunity to play through all the different disciplines and attempt to score gold medals in each one.
Although this event is over in under 50 seconds it can still be difficult for the Vancouver newcomer. My tips here are to restart the event until you are on the inside lane (closest to the centre) this will make it easier to get started and build a lead on your competitors. The other tip is don't cut corners, this will make the game kill your speed and make it very difficult to finish in first place.
This takes place on the same track but is three times long and uses a whole new system to propel yourself. I reccomend pressing B to enter first person mode this makes the strokes a lot easier to to get down. The tips regarding the 500m event also apply here.
For this event the total of two jumps is your final score. To win you should be looking at getting around 280 points total. Obviously the AI score varies slightly each round. One trick that worked for me was during the flight was to abuse the RT and LT to maintain a high balance score. A poor performance in the first round and you will be better restarting as the top AI are semi consistent.
The AI are roughly finishing around the 1.10.00 mark. A strong start is important here aim for 80+ to get of to a good course. Keep that RT down as much as possible, try to release RT instead of using LT to carve this really hurts your speed. Remember jumping is crucial and try and hit A right on the greenline to get the best jump and smoothest landing.
Aerials AceWon a gold at aerials in a single player game.

I found this to be one of the more difficult gold medals. The trick you choose determines how many wheels you have to control as well as how long you can take to land. Practice really is key here. The wheels i found difficult to control. You will need two solid jumps and tricks to land gold here.
One of the easier medals to obtain, a solid launch and a series of well timed jumps will make this a lot easier to obtain, you will be wanting to keep
held down as much as possible to keep your speed up. Try to refrain from using
as much as possible, only when you are going to hit a obstacle.
To achieve the gold here you will need to put the best time in over 2 runs of the downhill course. I eased a gold medal with a time of 2.10.xxx finishing 6 seconds ahead of second place but the AI will consistently put in varying times. It is important to use both the right and left sticks to turn if not you may not be able to turn quick enough and flip over.
This event works in the form of a round of four where winning that will progress you to the final. Obviously to receive gold you will need to win both rounds. A strong start to the event is crucial. Practice in this event can be beneficial, learning where you need to turn and brake, try to stick as close to the flags as possible to therefore reduce your turning circle.
Although both Luge and Skeleton rely on you scooting down a icy track at crazy speeds that where the similarities end. Skeleton has a different pushing off system where you need to tap a in sequence to the hands touching the gloves. As well as the fact that you will need to use
and
to control your cornering. to gain high scores through the corner try and go as high and fast as possible through the corners being aware that if you go too high you will flip and become disqualified.
Again over two rounds, two competitive performances are needed for the gold medal here, hitting a sign here will slow you down extremely so try to avoid that where possible. A time of roughly 3.10.xxx should win you this event.
One run down the mountain, fastest time wins. Holding down
constantly is the only way you have a chance at a medal keeping you more streamlined in the crouching position. No other AI on the mountain to hold you up.
Just like the challenge above keeping that RT down is crucial to success. No need to take any notice of the 5 chances at missing gates because if a gate or two is missed I would recommend you restart the event. Initial power building makes a big difference so anything sub par you can easily justify a restart on.
Slalom StarWon a gold at slalom in a single player game.

One of the more difficult disciplines, this requires you to have two solid starts and good runs. Again use and abuse
and don't be afraid of restarting a few times if you are having a poor first run. Additionally remember that if you finish close behind 1st place in the first run you can always make that difference up in the second run!
The key to success here is your cornering and your straights, a good launch is beneficial to posting a strong time but not crucial. Speed will naturally be built up with the downhill gradient of the course, hitting the side walls though will slow you down and easily add precious seconds to your time. Additionally make the most of the corners by riding them as high as possible using both
and
to keep you in control, a high score from corners will indicate good cornering and hence a stronger time.
You should now have completed all of the Medal specific achievements!
