PermalinkThe 2017 CP Challenge #31 - Chronicles Motivation Required
CP stands for Cherry Poppin...you're welcome CompanyofWolves.

The past week saw a bit of progress on Yooka Laylee, DOOM and Assassins Creed Rogue. I also started Prototype and did some work on Chronicles.

The challenge has hit a slight speed bump in the form of a lack of motivation for the Assassins Creed: Chronicles series. With half the month already gone, it is time to force myself to focus on the task at hand. I returned to Chronicles India and managed to complete a few levels on plus hard mode without being seen. The problem is I am not really enjoying the game that much, which ends up making me walk away from the game or find distractions elsewhere.

The progress on DOOM has seen the majority of the achievements pop now. The only ones left involve the SnapMap mode, which I have left for last due to hearing they could cause other achievements to not pop, two multiplayer achievements tied to higher echelons and completing the first level on Ultra-Nightmare, which has seen numerous attempts fail at the first fight. I will keep trying to beat it however as it would be a nice completion to have, along with a healthly ratio.

As for Yooka Laylee and Assassins Creed Rogue, progress has been slow in both of them, largely in part to lacking the motivation for most games the past week. What parts I have done however, have been fun. Having played part of Rogue, it is a nice change of pace to return to the naval combat which was so addictive in Black Flag.

The plan this week will be to work on Chronicles, DOOM and Slime Rancher, before Agents of Mayhem arrives.

1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India Achievements - 13/18
1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia Achievements - 0/17
2. Color Symphony 2 Achievements - 3/16
3. Stardew Valley Achievements - 32/40
4. The Fall Achievements - 0/17
5. Virginia Achievements - 0/17

The Bonus Four
1. Dishonored 2 Achievements - 3/50
2. Assassin's Creed Rogue Achievements - 4/46 Increase of 4 achievements

The Extra Innings
1. BioShock 2 Achievements - 0/53
2. Fallout 4 Achievements - 63/84
3. Tekken 7 Achievements - 0/43
4. Yooka-Laylee Achievements - 10/35 Increase of 1 achievement

To Do List: 67/100

PermalinkThe 2017 CP Challenge #30 - Demons, Slimes and Yooka-Laylee
CP stands for Cherry Poppin...you're welcome CompanyofWolves.

Another week has flown by and the plan only derailed slightly this time. I didn't make any progress on the Chronicles series, but I did make a start on Yooka-Laylee and pop another achievement in Stardew Valley. The rest of time went into DOOM.

I am still missing a chest filled with gifts on Stardew Valley, I think it is past time to simply accept that whatever happened, it is gone. Looking at the achievements, I think I can manage another 3 or 4 before getting to the point where further achievements will be a massive grind based on luck.

I haven't put too much time into Yooka-Laylee yet so I am still on World 1. So far it has been fun but I haven't put enough time into it to make a valid opinion. It definitely has a more retro feel along the lines of Banjo-Kazooie, which was a lot of fun.

Slime Rancher is so far a lot of fun, although the inventory system could get annoying quickly, as by the sound of it, you are limited to 4 inventory slots plus a 5th for water. It will be a bit of a grind for some of the money related achievements, but it shouldn't be too bad to manage.

DOOM has seen the most progress this past week. I finished the story playthrough with about half of the collectables. I am currently working through it again to collect everything that I had missed. As for the multiplayer portion, I am currently on Echelon 2, which feels like a long road to the requirement for the dlc achievements. A lot of people tend to say "it was better during the double xp weekend" which is fair enough, but it is also a stupid statement. Saying it enough times won't make it magically turn to double xp again, that is in the hands of the developers. I have left the Snapmap stuff for last, as I have heard it can bug out one or two of the achievements.

This week should see more DOOM, Yooka-Laylee and Slime Rancher. I will also do some work on Chronicles, as well as begin clearing out some of the games on my hard drive.

1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India Achievements - 13/18
1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia Achievements - 0/17
2. Color Symphony 2 Achievements - 3/16
3. Stardew Valley Achievements - 32/40 Increase of 1 achievement
4. The Fall Achievements - 0/17
5. Virginia Achievements - 0/17

The Bonus Four
1. Dishonored 2 Achievements - 3/50
2. Assassin's Creed Rogue Achievements - 0/46

The Extra Innings
1. BioShock 2 Achievements - 0/53
2. Fallout 4 Achievements - 63/84
3. Tekken 7 Achievements - 0/43
4. Yooka-Laylee Achievements - 9/35 Increase of 7 achievements

PermalinkThe 2017 CP Challenge #29 - One Series Down
CP stands for Cherry Poppin...you're welcome CompanyofWolves.

It may have taken awhile but I can finally cross off one of the series from this challenge. As I set out to do, Metro Last Light was finished, which now means both Metro games can be moved onto the completed section. This leaves me with the remainder of the Chronicles series, but also highlights the potential endpoint of the challenge.

The Fall and Virginia are easy, short games which have been saved as emergencies, so far they haven't been needed. The Assassins Creed Chronicles series is a mix of fun and tedious, especially with the requirement to not be seen on the highest difficulty. These however should be managable if I put the time and effort into them. It is the other two games however which could be the ones which won't be completed.

Color Symphony 2 is a platformer which really cranks the difficulty up, which is causing me to struggle quite a bit. Platformers aren't my strong suit but some of the paths through need near perfection. As for Stardew Valley, I love the game, but the Prairie King mini-game is quite tough to get through itself, let alone without dying. The drop rate on some of the artifacts is also below 1%. These two games will be where the challenge fails.

Knowing this however, means I can put some more effort into the bonus games. Whilst they don't count to the overall goal, they are still side objectives to be done before the end of the year. This is made easier by the fact that my pre-order list is currently on the short side.

The plan this week will be to get another achievement in Stardew Valley, begin working on Chronicles again and work on Yooka Laylee.

1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India Achievements - 13/18
1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia Achievements - 0/17
2. Color Symphony 2 Achievements - 3/16
3. Stardew Valley Achievements - 31/40
4. The Fall Achievements - 0/17
5. Virginia Achievements - 0/17

The Bonus Four
1. Dishonored 2 Achievements - 3/50
2. Assassin's Creed Rogue Achievements - 0/46

The Extra Innings
1. BioShock 2 Achievements - 0/53
2. Fallout 4 Achievements - 63/84
3. Tekken 7 Achievements - 0/43

PermalinkThe 2017 CP Challenge #28 - Heroes of the Metro
CP stands for Cherry Poppin...you're welcome CompanyofWolves.

Another week has come and gone, with it more progress in this challenge. Metro 2033 is now complete, and I have begun Metro Last Light. The rules for this challenge mean I can't cross 2033 off the list until Last Light is also completed. I am enjoying playing through the series, which is making me look forward to the next game.

I also put more time into Marvel Heroes Omega, which now only requires the xp grind for the legendary item, and the two prestige achievements. Sadly, the first prestige achievement didn't unlock, but going by the official forums, there should be news on this soon. The game has been a lot of fun in the lead up to the grind that awaits. With the xp bonuses for the numerous level 60s however, the grind is not so bad.

Some more time went into Gears of War 4 as well with CompanyofWolves. Our plan is to finish off Insane this week, which will free us up for other games. With all the patches that Gears 4 has had, along with how it launched to begin with, it has changed how I view the series. It has its good moments but doesn't live up to the older games. The next Gears game will be a case of wait and see, especially with how their business sense seems to be going.

This week should hopefully see Metro Last Light get completed, if not then I will run through one of the shorter games.

1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India Achievements - 13/18
1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia Achievements - 0/17
2. Color Symphony 2 Achievements - 3/16
3. Metro 2033 Redux Achievements - 49/49 Increase of 1 achievement
3. Metro: Last Light Redux Achievements - 16/49 Increase of 16 achievements
4. Stardew Valley Achievements - 31/40
5. The Fall Achievements - 0/17
6. Virginia Achievements - 0/17

The Bonus Four
1. Dishonored 2 Achievements - 3/50
2. Assassin's Creed Rogue Achievements - 0/46

The Extra Innings
1. BioShock 2 Achievements - 0/53
2. Fallout 4 Achievements - 63/84
3. Tekken 7 Achievements - 0/43

PermalinkThe 2017 CP Challenge #27 - The Weekend of Progress
CP stands for Cherry Poppin...you're welcome CompanyofWolves.

The past week saw more time go into Marvel Heroes Omega and Dead by Daylight. It wasn't really until the weekend where progress was made on Metro 2033.

I am now on my fourth character on Marvel Heroes Omega out of the five required for the level 60 achievement. Currently I am leaning towards Scarlet Witch as being the one I prestige, but I will not settle on this decision until I have finished the five characters. I haven't yet decided which character to use as the last one, it will mainly depend on the amount of splinters I have.

Dead by Daylight saw some more progress in terms of leveling up. This game will be a slow burner, the main complaint with it is the matchmaking issues. Sadly, given these issues have been there since the launch on the PC, it seems unlikely that it will get fixed. When it does work however, it manages to provide a tense atmosphere, even as the killer as you need to try and find the survivors to stop them.

As I mentioned at the start, Metro 2033 saw a lot of progress over the weekend. I shifted my focus to be purely on this game and it paid off. All I need to do now is finish the Survival play-through, which is currently around the half way mark. Once this is done it will be straight onto Metro Last Light to try and cross one of the series off this list.

The plan this week will be to continue working on the above titles, as well as crack on with Yooka Laylee. I should really put some time into a game pass game as well, so as not to have wasted a month of it.

1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India Achievements - 13/18
1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia Achievements - 0/17
2. Color Symphony 2 Achievements - 3/16
3. Metro 2033 Redux Achievements - 48/49 Increase of 40 achievements
3. Metro: Last Light Redux Achievements - 0/49
4. Stardew Valley Achievements - 31/40
5. The Fall Achievements - 0/17
6. Virginia Achievements - 0/17

The Bonus Four
1. Dishonored 2 Achievements - 3/50
2. Assassin's Creed Rogue Achievements - 0/46

The Extra Innings
1. BioShock 2 Achievements - 0/53
