PermalinkThe 2017 CP Challenge #28 - Heroes of the Metro
CP stands for Cherry Poppin...you're welcome CompanyofWolves.

Another week has come and gone, with it more progress in this challenge. Metro 2033 is now complete, and I have begun Metro Last Light. The rules for this challenge mean I can't cross 2033 off the list until Last Light is also completed. I am enjoying playing through the series, which is making me look forward to the next game.

I also put more time into Marvel Heroes Omega, which now only requires the xp grind for the legendary item, and the two prestige achievements. Sadly, the first prestige achievement didn't unlock, but going by the official forums, there should be news on this soon. The game has been a lot of fun in the lead up to the grind that awaits. With the xp bonuses for the numerous level 60s however, the grind is not so bad.

Some more time went into Gears of War 4 as well with CompanyofWolves. Our plan is to finish off Insane this week, which will free us up for other games. With all the patches that Gears 4 has had, along with how it launched to begin with, it has changed how I view the series. It has its good moments but doesn't live up to the older games. The next Gears game will be a case of wait and see, especially with how their business sense seems to be going.

This week should hopefully see Metro Last Light get completed, if not then I will run through one of the shorter games.

PermalinkThe 2017 CP Challenge #27 - The Weekend of Progress
CP stands for Cherry Poppin...you're welcome CompanyofWolves.

The past week saw more time go into Marvel Heroes Omega and Dead by Daylight. It wasn't really until the weekend where progress was made on Metro 2033.

I am now on my fourth character on Marvel Heroes Omega out of the five required for the level 60 achievement. Currently I am leaning towards Scarlet Witch as being the one I prestige, but I will not settle on this decision until I have finished the five characters. I haven't yet decided which character to use as the last one, it will mainly depend on the amount of splinters I have.

Dead by Daylight saw some more progress in terms of leveling up. This game will be a slow burner, the main complaint with it is the matchmaking issues. Sadly, given these issues have been there since the launch on the PC, it seems unlikely that it will get fixed. When it does work however, it manages to provide a tense atmosphere, even as the killer as you need to try and find the survivors to stop them.

As I mentioned at the start, Metro 2033 saw a lot of progress over the weekend. I shifted my focus to be purely on this game and it paid off. All I need to do now is finish the Survival play-through, which is currently around the half way mark. Once this is done it will be straight onto Metro Last Light to try and cross one of the series off this list.

The plan this week will be to continue working on the above titles, as well as crack on with Yooka Laylee. I should really put some time into a game pass game as well, so as not to have wasted a month of it.

1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India Achievements - 13/18
1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia Achievements - 0/17
2. Color Symphony 2 Achievements - 3/16
3. Metro 2033 Redux Achievements - 48/49 Increase of 40 achievements
3. Metro: Last Light Redux Achievements - 0/49
4. Stardew Valley Achievements - 31/40
5. The Fall Achievements - 0/17
6. Virginia Achievements - 0/17

The Bonus Four
1. Dishonored 2 Achievements - 3/50
2. Assassin's Creed Rogue Achievements - 0/46

The Extra Innings
1. BioShock 2 Achievements - 0/53
2. Fallout 4 Achievements - 63/84

PermalinkThe 2017 CP Challenge #26 - Challenge vs Game Pass vs Long Games
CP stands for Cherry Poppin...you're welcome CompanyofWolves.

Over the past week it has started to become apparent that I am trying to juggle too many things at once. There is this challenge, which is seeing slow progress of late, the game pass which I have a few games from and longer games being started around the same time, mainly in the form of Dead by Daylight and Marvel Heroes Omega. Both of these games are fun, but will require a lot of time to be anywhere near complete.

As far as the list goes, I have been making slow progress on Metro 2033. I am currently on chapter 3 and enjoying the game. I know that once it is fully finished I will end up going straight into Last Light to try and stay on track with my goal. However with Dead by Daylight, Marvel Heroes Omega as well as Resident Evil 6 and Dead Island via the Game Pass, I may end up having to use a back up game to cover this month.

Marvel Heroes is going well so far. I have two characters at level 60, with three more to go, midtown patrol is finished up, leaving the grind for artifacts, relics and legendary quests. It will be a long completion but apart from the two difficulty trials, it is all just a case of grinding through. Dead by Daylight on the other hand is great when the matchmaking works. It manages to deliver a tense atmosphere whilst still being fun. A downside to it is survivors can be trolls when they are escaping, although as one such troll found out, it isn't always a smart thing to do, especially on a hatch as it can lead to being grabbed and sacrficed.

The other games this week include Party Hard, which is seeing the counter slowly creeping up towards 100 deaths and plays, and Vertical Drop Heroes which now needs 2 more complete runs. My completion percentage will take a severe beating this week but that is fine, as it isn't included in my year long targets.

This week should see progress in all of the above, as well as some games from the extra pile.

1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India Achievements - 13/18
1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia Achievements - 0/17
2. Color Symphony 2 Achievements - 3/16
3. Metro 2033 Redux Achievements - 8/49 Increase of 5 achievements
3. Metro: Last Light Redux Achievements - 0/49
4. Stardew Valley Achievements - 31/40
5. The Fall Achievements - 0/17
6. Virginia Achievements - 0/17

The Bonus Four
1. Dishonored 2 Achievements - 3/50
2. Assassin's Creed Rogue Achievements - 0/46

The Extra Innings
1. BioShock 2 Achievements - 0/53
2. Fallout 4 Achievements - 63/84

PermalinkThe 2017 CP Challenge #25 - Starting Multiple Games Again
CP stands for Cherry Poppin...you're welcome CompanyofWolves.

The past week went partially as planned, with progress being seen in Metro 2033, Party Hard, Outlast, Injustice 2 and Deadpool. I also started Marvel Heroes Omega, which released a few days ago.

I haven't made much progress yet with Metro 2033, but I am currently on chapter two. I am currently aiming to have the Metro series completed as the July target, but given it is two full games instead of one, I may have to fall back onto one of the back up games.

Everything else has been done off the list. Starting with Outlast, I finally got around to going back to it. Horror games haven't been a genre I go for, apart from when I am trying to push myself. To begin with it was a bit nerve wracking, however this soon passed once I got used to it. I will go through it again for the collectables but I doubt I will attempt the Insane run. Next up was Party Hard, a smaller game which now just requires the game to be played 100 times, mixed with dying 100 times. This will be another completion by the end of the week.

I picked up Deadpool in the games sale, along with a few other titles. I really enjoyed the 360 version, but sadly, Activision being Activision really dropped the ball on this port. It makes the San Andreas port from mobile look decent. Deadpool locks up constantly, the button inputs will not register during these freezes, however enemy attacks will.

Finally, I am proud to say Injustice 2 is now complete. It may have taken a long time, but with around 18 abilities left, Cat Call dropped via the ability event. It ended up being one of the most satisfying achievements I have seen pop, as I didn't resort to cheap tactics or cheating. The game still is on the short list for game of the year for me,

The plan this week will be a mix of Marvel Heroes Omega, Metro 2033 and Party Hard.

1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India Achievements - 13/18
1. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia Achievements - 0/17
2. Color Symphony 2 Achievements - 3/16
3. Metro 2033 Redux Achievements - 3/49 Increase of 3 achievements
3. Metro: Last Light Redux Achievements - 0/49
4. Stardew Valley Achievements - 31/40
5. The Fall Achievements - 0/17
6. Virginia Achievements - 0/17

The Bonus Four
1. Dishonored 2 Achievements - 3/50
2. Assassin's Creed Rogue Achievements - 0/46

The Extra Innings
1. BioShock 2 Achievements - 0/53
2. Fallout 4 Achievements - 63/84
3. Tekken 7 Achievements - 0/43
