Hello my wonderful TrueAchievement blog readers! Once again, I have to apologise for the delay especially after setting a status last weekend saying that the blog post was incoming. As per usual, work and life just got the better of me and I didn't get the chance to even start to do the blog post. We are back now however and I've got plenty to catch up on and type about so please enjoy!BEAN DIVE PROGRESS
The 2017 Bean Dive
has been hit as expected as I started Halo 5: Guardians
as promised at the beginning of February. Here's how the Bean Dive is looking now:
Start completion % = 94.89
End completion % = 93.12
Final dive % = 1.77
Current completion % = 94.42 93.78
Recovered completion % = 1.31 0.66
Achievements needed for recovery = 54 130
Total games dived = 4
Not only did I start Halo 5
, but I also started Minecraft (Kindle Fire)
which didn't help. However, it will help in the future to keep my achievement streak alive and to bump my TrueAchievement Ratio back up above 2.00. As for the achievement streak, this is still going strong at a super-impressive 418 days
. My TA Ratio however, has been downgraded from the shiny gold to orange as it currently sits at 1.9980.GIFTED GAME FOR JANUARY - BATMAN: ARKHAM KNIGHT
As I didn't give Batman: Arkham Knight
the farewell (for now) it deserved in the first blog post of February that didn't happen, I'll need to do it now even though February is almost over!

The only achievement I'm missing is from the base game which is for completing the game on New Game +:
I knew that another playthrough would take at least maybe 5-10 hours or so so I thought it would be more productive in terms of achievements to work on all of the DLC first instead. Honestly though, I didn't think I'd make it through EVERY DLC achievement so I was pretty chuffed with myself for getting this done.
I'm sticking with my rule however, Batman
will now go back on the (digital) shelf until either next year or if I manage to complete Halo 5
in its entirety before February's up.GIFTED GAME FOR FEBRUARY - HALO 5: GUARDIANS

As you can see by the goal progress, it's going pretty shit! CognitiveCaveat
hasn't played the game in a very long time so I don't need to worry about the competitive side but overall, I'm going to end up failing the goal anyway. I do however have next Sunday off and the following week so I can make one hell of an attempt to try and get as much done as possible. Although I'll only have the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to cram as much as I can in. Then on the Thursday, it will be on to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (Xbox 360)
.BARELY SURVIVING IN THE GREAT TRUEACHIEVEMENT SCORE CHALLENGE 2018
I'm sure my GTASC 2018
would agree when I say this, but we've been doing pretty shit so far this year. With a bonus used already, we've barely been hanging on each week but somehow we've been managing. Last week, to help with the bonus for ending the period with a GS divisible by a 1000, I pulled Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition
from the stash box for a pretty easy boost. I never played the original back in the day but after playing this version, it made me want to play Flashback
and take a blast into the past with my time with the game in my SNES days.
We managed to bag the bonus for that week but we are in trouble again this week. At the time of writing, I've unlocked eight achievements with seven of these being from Minecraft (Kindle Fire)
purely to keep my achievement streak alive. One was from Tales from the Borderlands
also for the same reason. DK has yet to pop anything in this GTASC week! We're only 299 TA below safety so it's not like we couldn't recover it. I'm going to use a few more achieves from Minecraft
at some point tomorrow unless Dave pulls some tricks out of the bag.
Personally, I was hoping to be able to contribute to the GTASC while still working on my games in the way I do. Sadly though, with starting my attempt on Legendary in the campaign for Halo 5
, I've slowed myself right down now. I should've took the approach I took with Batman
and left the longest achievements till last. Now I'm having to constantly put Halo
on pause while I pick up achievements in other games.
That's it for the gaming front. There's not much else going on really besides the odd achievement here and there from Cut the Rope: Experiments (WP)
which has proved useful in between trips or on breaks at work.PLAY EXPO BLACKPOOL 2018
Another year another Play Expo event at Norbreck Castle in the lovely city of Blackpool! The event
was another fun-filled weekend and my good friend Enigma jinx
came along for the ride too. The event came with the usual features:
- Indie Gaming
- Tabletop Gaming
- Guest Talks
- Virtual Reality
- LAN Gaming
- Pinball Tables
- Arcade Cabs
- Retro Gaming
- Next Gen Gaming
- Traders Section
I was up bright and early on the Saturday and headed to Chroley to pick Eddie up. I parked outside his house and discovered I didn't even have his mobile phone number!
I tried to call him through Facebook but low and behold, my sometimes god awful Windows Phone wouldn't allow me to do it. I was forced to actually get out of my car and go and knock on the door. After knocking on the door, no one answered! I went and sat back in my car and scratched my head as I thought what do next. Luckily for Eddie, I'd woke his mum up when I'd knocked on the door so she came out and beckoned me to come in the house. After quickly getting his shit together and his hair right, we headed out to Blackpool on our way to the Play Event.
Once we arrived, we didn't even need to queue as we were late anyway. Straight off the bat, we headed into the trading hall to see if we could snag any bargains quickly before the rest of the crowds did. Sadly, I didn't walk away with anything this year as there just wasn't anything that really caught my eye. Most of the time, I end up looking from SNES, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advanced games but most of the decent titles I'd already owned. As much as I'd love to buy gaming stuff like picture frames, coasters, key rings, and what not. any kind of gaming room stuff would just be a waste as I've not had a man cave for quite some time now. I did snap a few picks of the trading section however:
After leaving the trading hall, we walked around the rest of the areas to see what was what. After chomping down a Monster Wrap (tortilla wrap filled with bacon, sausage, egg, hash brown and cheese with brown sauce) from a cafe behind the castle, we headed back inside to play some games! We squared off against each other on Street Fighter II Turbo
on the SNES, a game that can always be found in the retro section with me handing Eddie's ass to him thanks to the help of Guile and then Ken. Eddie soon had his revenge on a different kind of fighting game that was much older on one of the Arcade Cabs. I think it was called Kung Fu Master
or Karate Master
but it was an odd game as you only needed to land one successful hit on your opponent to win. Admittedly, Eddie whooped my ass accept in one round. We also squared off against each other on a Chinese puzzle game that was on the SNES and somewhat similar to that of Bejewelled
. I came out on top in this fight as I was just to quick and tactical for Eddie to handle. As I was having so much fun with my old buddy old pal, I'd completely forgot about the Super Mario Kart
master Sami Cetin and his SMK tournament!
After locating him, we caught up and chatted about what we'd been up to since we last saw each other at the last Play Event. Then, I got down to business and attempted my qualifying time for a spot in the competition. I used Toad to nail the number one time on Mario Circuit 1. Eddie took a shot also but came out failing after crashing into a green pipe on his final lap
With my position secure, we left the SMK area to continue checking out other games until it was time to return later on in the day.
I came back and had secured a position in the tournament. I think my time was the second best out of something like 116 competitors. In the first round, I was up against Tom McCrae who I managed to beat 3-1. The second round, I squared off against Lee Hill and came out victorious with a 5-1 result.
Then, the finals against a guy who's name I can't remember or didn't write down. When I watched him playing in his quarter finals though, he was an animal and I thought I was going to be in a spot of bother going against him. Sadly, it seemed like he'd had a bit too much to drink and there wasn't much competition to be honest as I came out on top with a clean sweep 7-0. Yours truly had done it again!
Once again, I got a shot at the king himself in a first to 10 matchup. Unsurprisingly I lost but I didn't do as bad as I had done the first time I squared off against Sami. I decided to gamble and use the same class of racer as Sami. This being Donkey Kong Jr. and Bowser but it didn't pay off entirely. I think I ended losing something like 6-10. I didn't stand a chance. Sami knows everything about every track including all of the shortcuts, technical tricks, glitches etc and I don't know a single one. It was fun never-the-less anyway and now I have a whopping five medals hanging from my wall in the master bedroom. Cheers Sami!
After the SMK fun was over, I spent the remaining hour or so just checking out other games with Eddie including old racers on the Arcade Cabs, a spot of Paperboy
which had the handle bars and brakes on the cab, and a few other games. Once the day was over, we headed home. Eddie mentioned that he was going out that night around Preston (my home town) with his missus and a few of his friends. I decided I'd tag along too as it had been some months since I'd been out and I thought I may as well treat myself as well as my days off are not very often at the minute.
I headed home, chilled for bit, had a bath, got my gear ready and then headed out to meet Eddie and the crew in town. We only stayed out from about 10:30pm to 2:30am but it was a short, sweet and fun night and really nice to actually get out, get pissed, have a good dance and enjoy myself for a change. Of course, a night out wouldn't be a night out without the ridiculous pics. Check out Eddie, his bitch, his emotional caption, and yours truly with a wonderfully creased jumper:
I still managed to get up early on the Sunday to head back for some more. Eddie didn't come with me this time so I was left to roam and game on my own. I was in attendance at the event as Press so this obviously meant I needed to some press related stuff at some point. I'd purposely saved this for the Sunday so besides spending a bit too much time with Driver 2
on the PlayStation 1, which is an absolute classic by the way, hammering arcade mode in Street Fighter II Turbo
again, I managed to snap the above pics of the trading hall as well as a couple of the main section:
It's pointless going crazy with photos in the main section really as all you be able to see is dark bodies, consoles and TV's with the brightness from the TV's ruining the photos. More importantly however, I spent the last part of the Sunday in the Indie section where I got hands on with Positron
, Lost Wing
, and The Mystery of Woolley Mountain
. I did try out a few other games but they weren't really relevant enough for coverage on TA.
The hands-on with Positron
story has already hit the front page so you can check that out right here - Hands-On With Positron at Play Blackpool 2018Lost Wing
is done and dusted but just waiting for proof-reading before it hits the front page so I won't spill the details on that just yet.The Mystery of Woolley Mountain
is a point and click title but the demo available at the event wasn't anything different to the one that's available from the game's kickstarter page so there's not much I could put together for that in terms of a hands-on story. We do have something else in the works for that however so be sure to keep your eyes peeled to the front page if pointing and clicking is your kind of thing. It's not mine to be fair though
After finishing up my short time with Woolley Mountain
and chatting to the game's developer, I headed back to Driver 2
for the last hour and then headed home when the joys of another Play Event had come to an end. The only disappointment of the event was that I didn't check out Crazy Taxi
, 18 Wheeler
, or any of the Pinball tables! Everytime I walked by them they were always occupied and I just couldn't be assed waiting for a go.
I know I say this everytime but if you live near Manchester, Blackpool, and I think Glasgow or London, you've got to check out the Play Events if you can. It's basically a gamers paradise and it's great for all level of gamers of all ages!QUICK SCOPE!Watching
- The Blacklist
- Season 2
I'm really enjoying watching this but my free NOW TV pass is coming to an end next week I think! I need to somehow start binge watching this if I'm to get through all five seasons!Playing (Non Xbox/Windows titles)
- Should be Pokémon Pinball
For the first time in months I actually fit about five minutes of this in the other night. I think I'm going to put the Pinball-ing fun on hold for a bit when I do get back into bedtime Game Boy gaming and start on one of my gifted Pokémon
games instead before they start gathering too much dust and become a pointless gift. Bedtime TV is the priority at the minute though while I make use of the free pass.Last YouTube video watched
Fergie, despite looking pretty slick and sexy at the 2018 NBA All Star Game, fucked up big time with her "rendition" of the US National Anthem. I'd be interested to know why she was even asked/picked/selected/whatever to sing? I haven't heard any big records from her since the Black Eyed Peas' days of glory. Then again I've not got my ears open for a "big" Fergie song so maybe she is making noise somewhere.

The NBA has let me down with coverage on their own shitty website. I used to be able to go to nba.com, go to scores, and simply watch the highlight videos for each game. Since December last year, the option to do this has been removed but thankfully, I can still use the NBA GAME TIME app on the Xbox One to keep up with the games.
The NBA All-Star weekend was unsurprisingly a bitch to actually find decent coverage for but thankfully, YouTuber Ximo Pierto
uploads a hell of a lot of NBA related stuff including official game recaps, interviews, top tens, and more. He also managed to upload the full game highlights for the All-Star game as Team LeBron squared off against Team Stephen:

NEWS THAT'S CAUGHT MY EYE
There's been lot of news since I last posted a Weekend Recap so it's hard to just pick one story. The different stories for Gears of War 4
have been catching my eye however as the achievements for the game just keep coming in!
Not only that, there's the whole situation with the skins as well which is tied to one of the many achievements. I don't really fully understand the situation with it all but I know I need to do something about it to try and make some form of progress before it probably ends up being to late. I just can't be assed going back to it to make an attempt! SONG OF THE WEEK
This... is my shit right here!
I've listened to a hell of a lot of hip-hop ever since I was a youngster but this particular song from Rick Ross' Renzel Remixes
sky-rocketed to the top of my personal charts. It's just pure magic. The beat is insane, Styles P came through and seriously worked magic to kick it off with hard bars but also ridiculously deep bars as he touched on the suicide of his daughter. Then Rick Ross glides through doing his thing with his catchy voice and rhymes and The-Dream works wonders with his voice. It's just such an incredible song. The first few times I heard it, I struggled to move onto the next song. I was going crazy to this at work when I was working nights, in my car, in the kitchen, hell, I was walking to work the other day and this song came on and I felt like just breaking out into my own made up money dance in the middle of the street. I love this song so much. If the day comes that I somehow win the lottery, I'll be driving to wherever it is you have to go to pick up your winnings with THIS song blasting in the car:

THIS WEEK'S STREAM
I did a quick stream last night and rather than struggling to speak and play Halo
on legendary, I thought I'd follow my slight craving I'd mentioned regarding a bit of Flashback
. Check out some seriously old-school gameplay from the 1993 version of Flashback
while I yabber on about losing my YouTube partnership, work, life, gambling, the woman, gaming, and plenty more:
To finish off, I have no interest in the key I won for a copy of Lost Wing
on Steam. If you'd like to try it out instead, just follow my blog and drop a comment on this blog
and I'll pick a winner at random using random.org and announce the winner next Sunday, February 25th.
Thanks for reading as always and apologies for the delay. See ya next weekend! TWITTER | YOUTUBE | TWITCH | MIXER | GOOGLE | DISCORD | INSTAGRAM | FACEBOOK | STEAM | TRUETROPHIES
