FIFA 20: First thoughts
I am not sure about everybody else but I am somebody who doesn't really see the point in playing the demo to FIFA games or any other games in that matter. This year was no different and my first taste of the new FIFA was the pre-release date, September 24. I know it was released just over 6 hours ago as I am typing this but I have had a good amount of game time on the new release now to get a grip of it.
I have not experienced every single aspect of career mode yet. However, the new press conferences (which were very hyped up pre release) have not disappointed. Now, they may get repetitive over time and somewhat boring but as a new fresh idea this is fantastic and exactly what the game mode needed. The new layout is different as well, no longer being able to press the Y button to get to your mail inbox will take some time to get used to. The morale changes are fundamentally influential in this and mirror a lot of key information missed by previous FIFA games. Overall, the changes seem to be key important changes that were required and will be loved by most players, experienced and new.
Ultimate Team is a game mode I have lost interest in the last few years as I also play the Madden franchise (also EA owned). Now the Madden Ultimate Team has so much more depth and parts to Ultimate Team and that led me to be disappointed by the FUT (Fifa Ultiamte Team) experience. However, the new updates with seasons, the new layout and additional tasks throughout the year (similar to Madden) are what I personally have been waiting for. These changes are vital and will make me once again love the game mode and enjoy reaching those goals.
Now, Pro Clubs. One of the key points of FIFA each year for myself. This game mode has had a deeper update that should have been done years ago. However, I must hand it to EA, they have nailed it here. I remember a few months back NHL 19 was a Game with Gold and the Pro Club option on there had a vast range of additional content which was not on FIFA. Annoying as this was another EA owned game. This year though EA have stepped it up and the changes such as the additional play styles, impact of height and weight, added editorial features, club cups and league layout have changed the scene and made this mode look almost brand new. This game mode is best with friends of course but the drop in matches are not awful overall.
In conclusion, this game has exceeded my expectations and will be a year of fantastic games. I would already highly recommend the game to experienced and new FIFA players. Overall I would have to rate the game (based on the first few days) a solid 8/10.
