Gotta love the free points
nintendo switch achievements....this will be a day long remembered.
Minecraft has had Switch achievements for nearly a year.

Yeah Minecraft has been a special case for awhile, but it'll be interesting to see what happens in the coming months.
Shouldn't be a surprise considering how any times you can stack Minecraft now
Agreed! Curious about Cuphead coming up.
The funny part is that the only Minecraft version without Achievements in the Windows Phone Version.
^ the version on wp10 has achievements...
Did they add them in the mean time?
I think the WP version was behind for awhile, but now it seems to get updated around the same time as all the others.
So can we join an achievement world? Like have the W10 version up then just join the world from the Switch?
I mean yeah..everything I have ever done is in one place: my gamertag. If they added xbox live to all PC games, I would probably convert and never look back.
Mainly because of addons/mods. Would still use a controller i think lol

I would never go to PC because I hate buying games digitally. I opt for physical/collectors editions whenever possible
I agree, same as above, but also many people tend to stick with friends. I'm only still on xbox due to some of the online friends i have made.....
....most of my IRL friends are on PS
Okay, so let's add the Switch into the mix, rather than just PC.
I would play games on my Switch just for easy gamerscore, but I would still play primarily on my Xbox.
I also strongly prefer the One over the PS4 console itself. I only use it for exclusives. If hypothetically you could gain gamerscore on it, I’d still use the Xbox
This is what I wanted since 2013. The platform is what matters: all my history and friends are on XBL, that's what I want to retain, but I HATED having to buy that
terrible underpowered OG Xbox One with the forced crappy Kinect. I held out until mid 2014 when they ditched the kinect. Point is if I could have built a PC and played
all games through XBL I would have done that and never looked back. My history and the friends I made along the way are what matters most and I'm so happy MS gets it.
They're giving people the choice on what they play on: traditional Xbox console, super charged Xbox console, PC, Switch, mobile, whatever it doesn't matter since it's
the ecosystem that matters.
The “crappy Kinect” was awesome both for gaming and voice commands. Too bad it died, and it shouldn’t have been forced.
Pretty much feel the same as Falcon. Its a social ecosystem to me. Its not been just the Xbox console for some time with WP, GfWL and more.
The thing is had the kinect not been forced it never wouldve lived long enough to die. It wouldve been a stillbirth.
I only have an Xbox one for XBL. The Xbox console exclusive games no longer interest me. Switch exclusives, on the other hand, I adore. So this is easy for me.
Ordered this! Looking forward to it!
How long did it take you ?
little over 2 hrs
Wasn't my post, but I saw it before it vanished.
Adults arent allowed either

Yeahhhhhhh TA used to be fun. Oh well.
^ I second that.
Didnt you read the news article? Unless you're a Snowflake SJW it's a ban on site
Which thread was that?
Update To The TrueAchievements Forum Policy
SD used the 's' word, thats a perma ban
Which one Snowflake or SJW? Or both?
This whole escapade has gone from ridiculous to sublime to worse.
If you Identify as Male or Female it's a ban till you change gender or so I'm told...
@Spilner I'm sure it will be added to my Mod thread shortly...
Being perma banned is a relief
I took the SEGA survey and my choices were Male, Female, Binary or Other...what is Binary?
Hermaphrodite? No, that would be both...or would it?
That would be a double ban sasha XD
No words...I miss 360voice.
This is one of the reasons I don't post so much now. Articles are boring and it is not what it used to be.
Not exactly the best crowd to throw yourself in with, Sasha.
Yeah sasha make new friends your current ones are shit....
I guess I can abandon all hope for that [popcorn] emoji.
CJ locked the thread. I don't see it being beneficial to hide deletions. Every single day seems to be a further breakage in moderaters and users relationships.
The gap has long since became us and then but the mods are only doing what Rich wants, apparantly. Unfortunately, the site is slowly dying. Poor news articles, less
bug fixes and wishlist ideas being acted on, hostile communications, percieved bias from mods etc. It is a sad state of affairs when mods can PM you lies and say this is
why you were banned. Even sadder that they ignore your response. I followed it up with CJ but as the mod in question said it was a PM from the whole team, I would be very
shocked to hear from him again.
I really wouldn't be surprised if TA wasn't positioning itself for a buyout.
I hope EA buys them
Apparently I micturate in the proverbial swimming hole far too often, in the parlance of our times.
I almost want a Pro refund for the lack of *popcorn*
I know what popcorn is, but my friend doesn't. You mind explaining?
Unfortunately ALL social media is going the route of over-modding due to fear of losing the almighty dollar. Younger generations arw so damn thin-skinned that they cry
About every smallest perceived slight. Social media sites pander to that for fear of shrinking userbase. TA will be no different. Moderation is a good thing when it is
Used judiciously. Over-moderation leads to the very thing sites do it trying to prevent: shrinkinf userbase.
FWIW I still love TA deapite gaming far less, but I was never much of a forum guy. Friend feeds arent moderated AFAIK. If that changes I could see being here less.
I can agree. I still love TA, but things have changed far too much over the past few years. When the site was smaller, the general feel was totally different.
I'm sure the generation before yours called your generation "thin skinned" or some other generalization as well
^ No one over the age of 40 complains. EVER!
"Don't trust anyone over 30," said a dude who's now 78.
Don't put a banana in a sock. It won't end well
I'm just gonna quit TA and play Animal Crossing from now on. I can only trust my loyal citizens I rule over with a iron fish. :P
I know this doesn't fit with your narrative, but TA is growing fast. We're having the busiest week we've ever had + daily registrations are up 50% compared to last year.
TrueAchievements is now the biggest xbox site on the planet. The only part of the site that's been declining is the amount of forum posts.
I used to love reading ALL the threads but even I don't do that any more. So many threads decent into bickering or pointless posts.
The new policy is designed to get them back to how they were 6 or 7 years ago, when people were generally much more civil to each other.
It's very early days but the initial signs are really good. But as always, we'll watch, learn and adjust them again if necessary.
And no, I'm not positioning the site for a buy out, I love running and developing this place too much!
I am *VERY* happy to hear that. I'm also glad that the site is doing so well behind the scenes.
I heard TA already sold the site to Elon Musk and hes gonna use all the data to make a underwater Submarine for the Gobi desert.
That's a very strange image. Thanks.
Well to hear I suppose. But I still dont feel that stricter rules are necessary. Just harsher punishment for those that break the old rules. If the fast growth is
Leading to an influx of fools, boot the fools. It can be frustrating for folks to feel like the line they cant cross is shrinking closer just because some new blood is
Rocketing miles past the old one.
Well that's good to hear** (I guess I rocketed over a few words there).
But the old rules weren’t clear enough. The mods were hamstrung because they weren’t being broken
And quite often it was experienced TAers causing the carnage because they knew they could get away with it
Has the amount of active members actually increased substantially? A lot of accounts often register and never come back.
Every metric that I am measuring is up at least 25% , apart from the forum posts. I know we have a huge problem with feature bloat though
Lots of people sign up and are then baffled by the vast amount of menu items. It’s a hard problem to solve but I am working on it
Do new users get a site tour etc when signing up?
Nope. Where would you even start??? It’s on the plan to try to come up with something but I think we might end up getting a UX person in to help
We’re all too close to it now
I actually trained in usability when I was in grad school. For the most part, I've always been impressed by how clean the site design is.
The problem is showing users the sheer amount of features that TA offers while keeping the number of clicks down to get there. It's tricky, to be sure.
The menu is large, but there's just so much. Submenus?
I think a site tour would use so many expenses compared with how little it would be used, but I could be wrong.
Resources, not expenses, although it's essentially the same thing.
I was just thinking about this the other idea when I couldn't find something and was pouring through the menus ... can't imagine how it is for someone new to the site!
I think a tour is a good idea but it needs to be focused on the hat the user wants to get out of the site - otherwise you could be showing them a load of irrelevant stuff
Exactly. The important thing is having them scanned and explaining what it means. That's the strength of the site. If there's an explicit explanation of that...
...at registration (it's been a long time since I registered), that to me is the key. The majority of the site beyond that is equivalent to other news sites.
The core has always been the TA score, and will obviously continue to be so. Making that the focus of the user experience would seem to be paramount.
That's what makes TA different from all the other news sites out there. That, and lots of solutions/walkthroughs.
TA obviously isn't a "news site" as much as a site that provides news, but there's no other site out there that does what TA does. Again, nice job, Rich.
TA score is the USP here. Everything else TA offers can be obtained elsewhere so whatever way you want to show new users the qualities of TA, the score has to be
I’m not sure that’s really the case any more.
Gaming sessions, achievement tracking, leaderboards, goals etc no one else does these things as well as we do
Game collection, series tracking, friend comparison, milestones, social integration
Xbox sales and price alerts. Walkthroughs and completion estimates. The Xbox one app
news, reviews, analysis and opinions. The Xbox gameplay chart
People come to TA for loads of different reasons. We need to cater to all of them
I’ve left out friend feeds and comments ??
My easy achievements. Solutions (duh). Flags on achievements. All the contests and challenges
Release dates, genres, stacks. Gamercards. Game clips and screenshots. DLC and discontinued notifications
Server closures. Automatic gamertag changes. Todo lists. Xbox friend import. Blogs! User reviews
I’ve had a beer. But, you get the point ??
A lot of those can be obtained elsewhere, even on the X1. They might no do it as well but it could be good enough for other people. TBH, I have found no problems using
sessions on X1, and do most there now. Bigger audience. X1 itself has sessions, tracking, boards and friend feeds. Yeah, they are not as good but nothing is stopping them
improving it. The only thing that people cannot take from you is TA score. TA's issue is how to keep the people who aren't interested in the unique score, on TA?
It is defenitely the best xbox site, even better than xbox but some people won't stay around long enough to learn that.
I've had a few drinks too. En-ger-land!!
Wow. Yep, it's really a one-stop shop, isn't it? Clearly I use TA more than FB or any other social media platform. And the tracking is #1 to me. *spams refresh*
But what brings people here to register in the first place? I didn't use boosting sessions until after I had a feel for the community.
And yeah, you get sales info out there better than pretty much any other source I know of, including Xbox itself.
All that said, though, Lucky has a point that the two things that TA offers that aren't available elsewhere are the achievement rarities and streamlined tracking.
To me, that's the core. It's a case of leveraging that into a greater TGN media empire.
