Six months until pie!Permalink
Merry Mini Christmas everyone wink

Time for a blog update since it's been quite a while. The main change for me this year is I quit my job to work for myself. I've spent almost a year from last July until this May doing additional work during the week and weekend to prepare for working for myself and technically being unemployed. I still work a full week just currently there's no money at the end of the month, but I hope that will change soon :) I had enough of working at my last company as it had become such an awful place to work. It was soul crushing to have to go in there every day and waste my time. I'm definitely much happier now :) Onwards and upwards!

With how busy I was with essentially two jobs I was genuinely surprised I managed to game as much as I did. I've been in the The Great TrueAchievement Score Challenge 2018 for the last six months and I've already scored more gamerscore than what I did in all of 2017.

Despite playing a lot of games in the first half of 2018 only a few were actually released in 2018. Here's my order of them so far:

2. Far Cry 5 (27/03/18)
3. A Way Out (23/03/18)
4. Q.U.B.E. 2 (13/03/18)
5. The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker (05/06/18)
6. Nightmares from the Deep 3: Davy Jones (02/02/18)
7. Enigmatis 3: The Shadow of Karkhala (06/04/18)
8. InkSplosion (09/05/18)
9. Energy Cycle (20/02/18)

Upcoming Games
13/07 - LEGO The Incredibles
14/08 - The Walking Dead: The Final Season
14/09 - Shadow of the Tomb Raider
02/10 - Forza Horizon 4
05/10 - Assassin's Creed Odyssey
19/10 - LEGO DC Super-Villains
26/10 - Red Dead Redemption 2
13/11 - HITMAN 2
04/12 - Just Cause 4

The second half of 2018 is looking pretty great smile The only games I'll get straight away are Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Forza Horizon 4 but I will get the others when I have the time to play them. There's no point in paying full price otherwise. I have games that I haven't touched yet like Vampyr and Far Cry 3 Classic Edition and games that I said I would play this year but haven't yet like Sonic Forces. Plus I have some PS4 games to play like God of War, Detroit: Become Human and Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered.

  • Current(ish) Games

I'm not going to go through all of my games since January as I've played more than 50 games. Some highlights:

A Way Out (complete)
Wow, what a game! It has such a great story and the co-op just works so well. The only let down was the achievements. I found sometimes on the first attempt they just wouldn't unlock. A quick reload of the checkpoint sorted the issue, but still, it shouldn't have been a problem in the first place. I didn't let it affect my score of the game though since it was a quick fix. My score would probably be different if I had to replay the game several times though.

Aaero (complete)
This for me is an absolute gem of a game. I had some interest in it when I first heard about it and then when it went on sale I picked it up. I was presently surprised. When you first play it on normal it seems like you're not going to get the hang of it but then it clicks. Then you move onto the advanced difficulty and you get more enemies and it seems like it's so much more difficult, but then that clicks too. Master difficulty is just a breeze after that wink Anyways I'd highly recommend this game!

Clips:
Assassin's Creed Rogue Remastered (complete)
I enjoyed going back to this although it was a bit difficult with the controls after playing Origins. In terms of gameplay Origins is much better, particularly when you see the quick time events in Rogue and know that in Origins you would be fighting yourself, which obviously is much more enjoyable. Still, it's a great game and one of my favourite ACs. I love the setting and love how it ties together Black Flag, III and Unity.

Far Cry 5 (in progress)
I'm really enjoying the game. The characters and the story (so far) are great, the guns for hire feature is certainly a cool addition and the gameplay of course is awesome but there's one problem I'm having with the game that's quite annoying. Every now and then the game just slows down terribly and becomes unplayable. When that happens I just pause the game and wait for everything to sync back together, but still. I would expect better. At least the reported achievement issues seem to have been fixed.

Q.U.B.E. 2 (complete*)
I've been looking forward to this game since it was announced and it didn't disappoint. It has some great puzzles which are very rewarding to work out. Looking forward to the DLC!
