PermalinkCompleted Game 133-36 Unexpected Success
While completions happened since last time, it never felt right to make a post immediately following. So I have been keeping a blog started, and adding to it until I felt it was a noteworthy update. With me hitting 70% completion, I felt it was time for an update. My completions have been rather productive since I last posted. I’ve finished a few games I’ve put off for years, and finished a few unexpected ones. One of my friends here on TA completed Crash of the Titans in 1-2 days, so seeing as I had been putting off the hard play through for years gave me motivation to have another go at it. Many days later, it was completed. With Crystal Quest, I had been trying off and on recently to get the achievements under their updated requirements. However, similarly to most others, I cleared my cache and completed it under the old requirements. It’s a bittersweet completion for me, as it feels as if I “cheated” the achievements, but I am glad it is finished. Feeding Frenzy has been in the back of my mind to complete for years. I was sort of avoiding it, due to the 40,000 fish needed, but all the sudden found myself near 30,000 so it was not as bad as expected. Finally, with Monkey Island, I was just in the mood to basically follow a guide word for word and am now glad that can be cleared from the backlog.

Crash of The Titans - 1000/1000
Current Trueachievement Score - 1863
Trueachievement score I feel it should be - 2000
Achievement Difficulty - 6/10 (This depends if you play in coop)
Estimated Completion Time - 22 Hours
Estimated Completion Time If Restarted – 12 Hours
Achievement Frustration - 6/10
Days to Completion - 3143
Overall Rating - 6/10

Crash is an enjoyable game. While there are some incredibly cheap and frustrating sections, stocking up on lives and having a player two makes these less irritating. I enjoyed playing though this years ago, and envisioned one day finally doing the hard play through. This would have been much more difficult if I had not been playing in coop, and furthermore I could have completed it in under 8 hours if I were starting this from scratch. Crash is fun, enjoyable, easy achievements, irritating, cheap, frustrating, and relaxing. All of those in one.

Crystal Quest – 200/200
Current Trueachievement Score – 305
Trueachievement Score I think it should be – 400
Estimated Completion Time – 10 hours
Estimated Completion Time If Restarted –4 Hours
Days to Completion – 2591
Achievement Frustration – 8/10
Overall Rating – 5/10

Crystal Quest is only frustrating because the developers applied an update only to change achievement requirements. In the name of achievements, clearing cache and playing offline is acceptable, but if these achievements had to be completed as is, the Trueachievement score would skyrocket. Crystal Quest is something I could see myself playing further, but the frustration and incompleteness of the game makes me just want to forget about it.

Feeding Frenzy – 200/200
Current Trueachievement Score – 401
Trueachievement Score I think it should be – 300
Estimated Completion Time – 12 hours
Estimated Completion Time If Restarted – 10 Hours
Days to Completion – 3406
Achievement Frustration – 2/10
Overall Rating – 8/10

Feeding Frenzy is a fun game. Even though I was grinding out the remaining achievements, it never felt as if it was a difficult task. I enjoyed it, but am glad this is another completion. I don’t think I originally had this game set as completed when I went through my games, and counted how many I thought I could finish. But even if I did, I wasn’t planning on this one. If I were to start this game now, it would be easily completed in 10 hours, with the 10-hour achievement being the final one needed by a long-shot.

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition – 200/200
Current Trueachievement Score – 297
Trueachievement Score I think it should be – 300
Estimated Completion Time – 4 hours
Estimated Completion Time If Restarted – 3 Hours
Days to Completion – 2747
Achievement Frustration – 1/10
Overall Rating – 5/10
Monkey Island is a point and click adventure filled with snarky dialog and a pleasing, albeit predictive story. Near the end, I was tired of the dialog, as it seems only one voice actor was used. This is one of many games I purchased for Gamerscore without hesitation years ago, and wish I had held off on it. Yes, it was an easy completion, but I barely played it and have hundreds of other games I should have been working on.

PermalinkCompleted Game 131/132 - Moving Forward
The quest continues. In the back of my mind, I have had a goal of getting all my unfinished games to appear on one page on TA. While I know settings can change that number, in order to do so I will need to complete several more. And with me having a good bunch of games with discontinued or too skill based achievements, that leaves me with completing even more. Going through my list and counting off the ones I feel I COULD complete left me with the right number, so it is achievable but it will take a LONG time to achieve. The only downside is I seem to be only completing newer games, rather than old ones which keeps the list at a standstill. The only silver lining of this is that starting and completing new games just helps boost my completion percentage, putting less weight on the unobtainables. This blog post has a newly started, newly completed and a older game.

Game Party: In Motion. Where do I begin. Several of these achievements are luck based, and don't require any skill. The kinect tracking is terrible, and no matter how large my play-space is, kinect never is satisfied. (Pun intended). I have been slowly working on this game, as it is 100% kinect controlled, making achievements that require you to restart the mini-game an arduous and tedious process. A couple weeks ago, I began working on this again, knocking off several of the remaining achievements, leaving four that I just could not get. Several days later, I tried again only to fall short. Yesterday, I unlocked one of the remaining, and proceeded to unlock the remaining ones with ease. While I do not feel "practice" attributed to me being successful, I do feel that being patient and in the calm relaxed mindset helps when dealing with uncontrolled luck based rage inducing achievements. I am thoroughly glad this is completed. On the bright side though, this is my first completed kinect retail game.

Game Party: In Motion - 1000/1000
Current Trueachievement Score - 2413
Trueachievement score I feel it should be - 1750
Achievement Difficulty - 5/10
Estimated Completion Time - 10 Hours
Achievement Frustration - 10/10
Days to Completion - 2176
Overall Rating - 4/10

LEGO The Lord of the Rings is just like your typical LEGO game. There's a clear path towards each and every game that you follow. Some days I really enjoyed the game-play, while others it was a painstaking process. In my last LEGO game, I had my save glitch and become corrupt at around 30% completion. While it doesn't seem like much, it was such a painstaking process to redo what was done. The entire process of this LEGO game I was constantly hoping my save would be safe. In the end this wasn't terrible, as LEGO games are what my girlfriend and I play together, leading to six LEGO completion in the past few months.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings - 1000/1000
Current Trueachievement Score - 1460
Trueachievement score I feel it should be - 1500
Achievement Difficulty - 2/10
Estimated Completion Time - 20 Hours
Achievement Frustration - 1/10

Last Blog's Goals
1. Complete my predicted next completion, Just Cause 2
2. More work on Quake 4
3. Unlock an achievement in Kinect Playfit
4. Unlock 10 achievements from To-do List (currently 84)
5. Get EA Sports Active 2 to 500 gamerscore

Just Cause 2 is not going to be completed until December. During December, there will be a period where I will only have access to my Xbox 1, which that is on. So I have been saving it for that. As for goals 2 and 3, I have no excuses. I got 3 achievements from my to-do list, but wasn't actively looking at it for ones to go for. And I can FINALLY cross out a goal. EA sports is at 550.

Here are the games I unlocked achievements in since last post:
LEGO The Lord of the Rings - 48 *
Game Party in Motion - 5
EA Sports Active 2 - 3
Twitch - 1
Transformers The Game - 4
NBA Live 07 - 1
Fatal Inertia - 1
Call of Duty MW3 - 1

Not a wide variety, but still pushing through some games. NBA Live is technically completed since the remaining achievements are discontinued.

As for goals for the next post, I'm going to refresh them since I have made no progress towards practically any of them. More obtainable goals may lead to me more likely to strive towards them.
Next Goals:
1. Complete my next predicted game, Fight Night Round 4

PermalinkCompleted Game 129/130 - Clean Up
My goal of 130 completed games has finally been achieved. Although it seems to be quite small compared to the now 309 games on my card, this is a nice accomplishment for me. Majority of the games I completed were what I'd call clean up games, and were ones I was too lazy to go back and take the time to finish them. Two of the games I started fresh, but only started them because I knew they were quick completions, and easily used to keep my daily streak alive. However, lets get to the completed games.

King Kong is one of the most frustrating games I have ever played. Glitch upon glitch upon glitch, this game was more about holding my breath until the achievement popped. Many years ago, I have completed the campaign, only to have the achievement glitch on me. Nearly seven years Kong has sat untouched in the longest rage quit known to man. But after completing my previous game, I took a look at my card and searched for some other easy games I had put off. Immediately after seeing Kong, I just put the disc in and made a dent in the slow, painful campaign. Two days after completing Wallace and Gromit 1, this game was done. I figured waiting until my goal completion would be more acceptable for another blog post but even still it was only five days ago.

Lego Star Wars 2 has been in the back of my mind for weeks if not months. Completing every level without dying is a cakewalk except for the ship levels. After looking at guides and the TA ratio for the ship achievements, I psyched myself out and put them off. The LEGO games have been something my girlfriend and I have played together, and she bought a new one but said we would not play it until we totally finished Star Wars. After spending roughly an hour on the remaining few achievements I had, the game was finished. This also means that I have completed all the LEGO games on my card, until a few hours ago when a new one was started.

Peter Jackson's King Kong - 1000/1000
Current Trueachievement Score - 1116
Trueachievement score I feel it should be - 1116
Achievement Difficulty - 1/10
Estimated Completion Time - 6 Hours
Achievement Frustration - 7/10
Days to Completion - 3063
Overall Rating - 2/10

The actual game-play is NOT terrible with this game. For when this came out, it has decent graphics, and a somewhat enjoyable experience when playing as Kong. Following Jack Black is somewhat annoying, but this game is DESCENT. Until you get a glitch. Several times I HAD to initiate a cheat in order to unglitch levels. This is the opposite of what should happen. I somewhat enjoyed my time with this game, but am glad to be able to move it into the pile of completed games.

LEGO Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy - 1000/1000
Current Trueachievement Score - 1904
Trueachievement score I feel it should be - 1500
Achievement Difficulty - 5/10
Estimated Completion Time - 22 Hours
Achievement Frustration - 4/10
Days to Completion - 2614
Overall Rating - 6/10

LEGO games are never terrible. Usually decently easy achievements, and a fairly easy completion. The frustrating part about this one is that majority of the achievements are for completing the levels without dying. This is fine with invincible characters, but there are no invincible ships. That being said, this game has a few achievements that require skill but nowhere near 3.0 ratios. This is a heavily inflated game, and another one I am glad to move into the pile of completed games.

Last Blog's Goals
1. Complete my predicted next completion, Just Cause 2
2. More work on Quake 4
3. Unlock an achievement in Kinect Playfit
4. Unlock 10 achievements from To-do List
5. Get EA Sports Active 2 to 500 gamerscore

All of them fails. But with my goal completed, I want to start putting more effort into my random to-do list. Next time, I hope to make a dent in the goal list. I do have a few games near completion but I may actually hold off on them to work on these goals. While these blogs may be pointless and read by nobody, I enjoy creating them and looking back at my past. I do not want to be creating blogs every few days though.

Outside gaming, I have been enjoying watching football, programming and as of tonight, watching basketball. I have enjoyed watching the Golden State Warriors for roughly 8 years, and right now I'm watching them play. Other than that, I have been doing a fair amount of schoolwork, work around my apartment, exercising and upkeep on my plants.

Since my last blog, I have unlocked achievements in the following games:
EA Sports Active 2 - 1
Every Extend Extra Extreme - 1
LEGO Star Wars 2 : The Original Trilogy - 3
Game Party: In Motion - 5
LEGO The Lord of the Rings - 5 *

PermalinkCompleted Game 128 - Clean Up
With my initial goal of getting to 130 completed games drawing near, I want to finish it off by cleaning some of the easier games that I have started. Any point and click title falls into that category, and today it is Wallace and Gromit 1. Almost 7 years ago I bought this and initially played it following the walkthrough. But I mistakenly skipped an achievement, causing me to never want to finish it. This morning I was looking at my games played, and I noticed of a few short completion games, and this one just so happened to be chosen first.

Wallace and Gromit 1 - 200/200

Current Trueachievement Score - 234
Trueachievement score I feel it should be - 250
Achievement Difficulty - 2/10
Estimated Completion Time - 2 Hours
Days to Completion - 2617
Overall Rating - 5/10

One achievement in particular caused me quite a headache which is why I put the TA score higher. But in reality, this should have the same TA score as its gamerscore. Barely any skill is required and the hardest part is suffering through mediocre game-play, story, and controls.

Last Blog's Goals
1. Complete my predicted next completion, Just Cause 2
2. More work on Quake 4
3. Unlock an achievement in Kinect Playfit
4. Unlock 10 achievements from To-do List
5. Get EA Sports Active 2 to 500 gamerscore

This is looking to be an ultimate fail on my part. Didn't touch goals 1-3, EA active is currently at 440, and I unlocked 7 from my To-Do list. These will be my next blogs goals.

While Just Cause 2 is my goal for next completion, I am working on finishing King Kong, Fight Night Round 4, a new LEGO game, and also Rocket Riot.

Outside of gaming, college has been continuing. I've landed a job shadow and externship which isn't an internship but it definitely is finally something. I have grown quite interested in growing more herbs and plants as I have added more stevia and purple tomatillo to my potted plants. These are both sprouting and growing nicely. While doing the EA active running in place, I've grown to miss running and might try to get back into it once it starts cooling off more outside. Ever since my sciatic nerve injury, I've been incredibly resistant to full on running. I was even nervous to run in place, but am incredibly happy I chose to do so.

For next blog, here are my 5 goals:
1. Complete my predicted next completion, Just Cause 2*
2. More work on Quake 4*
3. Unlock an achievement in Kinect Playfit*
4. Unlock 10 achievements from To-do List*
5. Get EA Sports Active 2 to 500 gamerscore*
