Been around the block, time to finally collect some achievements.
The number of hours dedicated to playing happily among friends on xbox live over the past 10 years is not really replicated within my Gamerscore.
Don't get the wrong, when I buy a game I don't think, Oh! an easy 1000G. I get the game because it's something that I want to play, the achievements are that little added bonus, a little rush if you like, an achievement. Especially the ones that take a couple of hours of retrying, over and over again to get, we've all had them.
But I now find myself regularly hunting out pre-owned games that I picked when I was younger and didn't really play and going back and completing them. Recently after 5 years of trying to get a copy, I finally finished Enchanted Arms. And trying to get hold of a copy of Call of Duty 2 to finish it a year ago was like trying to get hold of gold dust. Now I see it in the shop and think about buying it just to put it away in a box or something.
So I have a system in my head of trying to keep the Gamerscore in check and reach my only little milestones, 1% complete at a time not by buying new games but by tracking down the games that I played for about 1 minute, or that friends brought over and scarred my record with but I never would've purchased, but I forgive them as long as we have fun, after all they are just games, or so my wife keeps trying to tell me.
So if I can get to 50% completion then I'll be happy and then I have peaked if you like and they way my weird plan is working then once I'm over that mark I can just carry on as I am, I might of caught up, or I'll be catching up nicely.
I have days where I achieve nothing, and I have days like yesterday where they just keep rolling of. But I'm sure we all do, it depends on the game. Some achievements take a little work and some take no work at all, some you enjoy doing and some you don't, and others you have to try and find someone to take part with and hope that they are in an accommodating mood.
So I'm currently setting my sites on Gears 1, 2 and 3 and after getting about 10 achievements for number 2 last night, I'm in a productive mood. And I finally completed Skylanders. So achievements popping all night last night.
