Want an authentic skateboarding game?
As a skateboarding hobbyist I can go ahead and say that the only game series to ever really execute proper skateboarding physics would have to be Skate (Skate 3 being the prominent contender). Ideally, skateboarding isn't grinding on power lines and landing a fourth floor drop to street level into a nose manual. That's how you DIE. Skateboarding is riding a board around and sometimes performing an ollie into a grind or flip/grab trick and then immediately going straight into a landing position to ride it out to go forward to the next obstacle to perform another activity on.
Tony Hawk: Manual > Ollie > Kickflip > Ollie > Hard Flip > Ollie > Varial Heelflip > Manual > Ollie > Darkside Grind > Ollie > Kickflip > Nose grind > Ollie > Heelflip 180 > Board Slide > Ollie > Manual > Switch > Nose Manual > Ollie > Ride it out for a 300,000 point combo.
Skate 3: Ollie > Varial Kickflip > Land on funbox > Nose Manual > end Manual > Ollie > Heelflip 180 > Land it into a series of different point gains.
Essentially, Tony Hawk is what you play if you like extreme sports themed sports games that are just about having fun and doing crazy stuff. I love the series myself. Skate 3 on the other hand is you pretty much doing realistic tricks and setups while also sometimes messing around with a replay editor to make wicked skate session edits.
Or... you can just go and buy a real board. Push around a parking lot, attempt to ollie and fall on your ass and then call it a day and come back to try it again tomorrow.
Skateboarding isn't for everyone so, easy mode Tony Hawk tends to be what every one will recommend to you.
