PermalinkA million gamerscore and the meaning of a true achievement (with a small favor to ask).
I've gotten a lot of congratulations this week on hitting a milestone this week, and I want to thank everyone who's reached out to me. I appreciate it! smile toast

On the subject of achievements, though, a million is really only a number, a mass accumulation of points cobbled together from a laundry list of thousands of games to choose from. All I really needed to do was have a lot of time on my hands and the persistence to do it.

However, as big as that might seem, this next week my own parents are going to one-up me.

Next week is my parents' 50th wedding anniversary.

Let that sink in for a minute... it's their 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!!

How many people are fortunate enough to even make it to 50 years old? How many of those have even known someone else for 25 or 30 years? Now imagine being married to the same person... FOR 50 YEARS!!! It's hard even for me to comprehend that.

My parents are two of the most wonderful people I've ever known, and to be honest, I could never have wished for two better people to have spent my life to this point with. They fact that they tolerated me for as long as I've been around has made living with each other a cakewalk, I'm sure. laugh

And so, on August 31st, 2019, my parents (Mama and Papa Morning) are celebrating 50 wonderful years together, and I'd like all of you to be a part of it. If you could take a moment and send them texts on their anniversary, it would mean so much to me. (I know I've asked for birthday texts to my mom before, and she's appreciated all of them. This is a slightly bigger thing. smile)

[Edit: thanks everyone for the wonderful texts!!!]

A simple "Happy 50th Anniversary!" or whatever you feel like is fine, and please pass this along! 50 years just doesn't happen very often, and I know this would really mean a lot to my mother. (She won't see this coming, and couldn't ever expect it.)

Thank you in advance, and may all of you experience the kind of joy in your lives that they have in theirs. I love you Mom and Dad!

PermalinkA million points...?
I'm looking at my dashboard, and it's reading 1000000. It's rather surreal. Took me 13 years to get here, and it wasn't that long ago that I thought of it as a number in the sky to look up at.

Huh. There it is. Now I'm going to be stuck with a 1 at the front of my score. No, I'm definitely not going for 2 million.

That final push was a little crazy. A year ago, right before I went on vacation, I was sitting at 783,102.
216,898 in the past 365 days, and 31,180 in the last 20 days.

I have a lot of people I need to thank for helping me out over a long period of time. It takes a village. At the top of the list is cnirvana, my partner in crime, for helping motivate me for the past few years. Right up there is my inner circle: InigoMontoya80, fighterx93chipp, ChrisD0811, keinanna, redraider104, REVELATIONxJedi, Darth Maul FTS, OneAngryJawa, TheOceanic815, oxBURN3Rxo, WudYaLo0kAtThat, SuperTigerWoods, and hott Armante. I'm sure I'm forgetting people!!

Beyond that are all of my friends on TA who've been so wonderful over the almost 10 years (!!!) I've been on the site. I remember back when I wasn't even in the top 10,000 on the site, then moving up above 1000, 500, and finally where I am now. Before I joined TA (in 2009), I had under 31,000. I got 7800 that first month. laugh

Two years ago I went through some turbulent times, and I have a lot of people to thank for keeping me upright. Xbox has been something that's helped me out. When all of that started, I was still shy of 600,000. To my friends and family, I owe a debt of gratitude. Thank you so much for everything. You know who you are.

Lastly, I need to thank my parents. I'll be making a blog post soon expressing how damn awesome they are, even though they have no idea about this milestone or, really, anything having to do with Xbox. laugh

Happy gaming, everyone! toast
