PermalinkWeek 6 - Look Mom, I'm An Olympic Athlete!
Welcome back to my crappy blog. This week was an all time high for achievement hunting for me due to slacking in the previous week for GTASC and the new Winter Olympics challenge. Side note before I get into the achievements, I've decided on a new formatting for this weekly blog. I will only be giving commentary for games that I either completed or earned one of the achievements for my challenge in. Writing commentary for each game every week will slowly kill me and I really don't want that.

ZOMBI [0(+90)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP) [740(+30)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Doom (Arcade) [45(+25)/200]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Disneyland Adventures [465(+535)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I finally finished, and got COMPLETIONS: 7! Overall, I'd give this game about a 6/10. It's a good idea but the game is really buggy and I have some problems with it. There is limited tracking for the secrets collectables, so you have to continue to attempt to find those secrets and pray thats it is close by. The quests in the game get extremely repetitive and so does the voice acting. If this game was fleshed out more, given more unique quests and opened up to the entire Disney World amusement park in Florida, I feel like this game would be given a higher review.

Crypt of the Serpent King [50(+190)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

The Walking Dead (X360) [165(+45)/600]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Finished up the second episode to grab ACHIEVEMENTS: 8/600 (1.33%) and ACHIEVEMENTS: 9/600 (1.50%).

Age of Empires: Castle Siege (UWP) [100(+50)/1000]

Grow Up [30(+20)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Knocked this out for the Winter Olympics and my achievement challenge for ACHIEVEMENTS: 10/600 (1.67%).

Outlast [25(+50)/1500]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Similar to Grow Up, grabbed this for the Winter Olympics and also was on my achievement challenge ACHIEVEMENTS: 11/600 (1.83%).

Microsoft Bingo (W10) [380(+155)/1000]

Assassin's Creed: Revelations [100(+20)/1490]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Again, same scenario: ACHIEVEMENTS: 12/600 (2.00%) .

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days [20(+50)/1250]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

This scenario keeps repeating, I swear its accidental ACHIEVEMENTS: 13/600 (2.17%).

Ryse: Son of Rome [200(+30)/2000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Oh my god... ACHIEVEMENTS: 14/600 (2.33%).

Battle Islands [50(+50)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Microsoft Jigsaw (W8) [0(+15)/200]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death [20(+55)/400]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Halo: Reach [270(+25)/1700]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Picked up a quick ACHIEVEMENTS: 15/600 (2.50%) on accident when grinding for the Winter Olympics.

Plague Inc: Evolved [1350(+15)/1540]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

This week was full of me trying to compete in the Winter Olympics challenges. I finished up the Biathlon challenge and starting the Cross Country Skiing challenge which I feel will be extremely fun. That's all I got this week, see y'all on February 18th!

PermalinkWeek 5 - Mobile Games Are [Not] Fun
This week, like I said, was another slow week. Super busy this week with real life stuff, but need to keep alive in GTASC

Age of Empires: Castle Siege (UWP) [0(+100)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

This is another long grind than Age of Sparta, though longer. I can play this anytime, as I have it on my phone, but after these achievements most won't come until about week from now. Hopefully, I can finish this up sometime.

Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP) [730(+10)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I knocked out thirty FreeCell games real quick to pop this. This is another super long grind than is extremely annoying. I'll keep going at this every odd week.

Forza Horizon 3 [50(+80)/2500]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Another game that I'll be playing every odd week. I love this game, its beautiful and really fun, but is going to take a while to complete.

Microsoft Bingo (W10) [330(+50)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I'm working on completing this game eventually and picked this up while playing a few games earlier today.

That's all for this slow week. Week 6 should be a whole lot, as I gotta catch up in GTASC. I've lost TA for some reason. I haven't played any recently released games so its a bit confusing, but I'll make up for it. Next week should have a lot of Doom, and maybe cleanup of a few games and a playthrough of ZOMBI. See y'all on February 11th!

PermalinkWeek 4 - Backlog Beware
I have been a busy bee. This week has been one of the best weeks for gaming I've had this year laugh. I was pulling my weight for the mess of a last GTASC period I had so that SA Scorpio and I can ultimately win this competition. I've started a few new games, completed a few others, and grinded in more. Without further ado:

DreamBreak [100(+900)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

This was a very okay game. I do enjoy point and clicks and that's what this game was kind of like. Though at times, it was extremely annoying and very hard, the game overall was not too rough, and took around an hour to an hour and a half for COMPLETIONS: 3.

The Fall [0+(1000)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Honestly, this was a very fun game. Another point and click like game, that had a very interesting story. If I recall correctly, this game is a getting a sequel sometime soon, so I'll most likely pick that up as well. My only problem with this game was a save-deleting bug that lost me about thirty minutes of progress, but that did not stop me from getting COMPLETIONS: 4.

NERO [0(+1000)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

This was another okay game. It's a VERY SLOW walking simulator with unecessarily hard puzzles dealing with the topic of grief. I did like the choice of topic for this game, but felt as though it could have been fleshed out more. The puzzles were hard considering that telling the difference between light colours, no explanation of the puzzles nor solutions in the walkthrough for most. Other than that, its a game that can be done if a few hours meaning COMPLETIONS: 5.

Doom (Arcade) [0(+45)/200]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I recieved Doom 3: BFG Edition from Gamefly this week which allows me to also play Doom and Doom 2. I started in order, as Doom only takes a few hours according to the walkthrough, but its wrong because I'm garbage at video games. This is really fun, but challenging. I'm having trouble getting past the first episode, but I'm sure Week 6 will have this completion, maybe, no promises.

Disneyland Adventures [395(+70)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

You know how RPGs like Skyrim or Fallout have fetch quests? You ever hate fetch quests because they're so dumb? Welcome to Disneyland Adventures, one giant Disney-themed fetch quest. I'm slowly chipping away at this. I'll finish it one day, maybe Week 6.

A King's Tale: Final Fantasy XV [800(+200)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I finally went back and finished this for COMPLETIONS: 6. Not sure why probably cause those dream battles suck. They weren't too hard, I'm just really bad at video games.

Crypt of the Serpent King [25(+25)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Still working on this, finished another level. I'll complete a playthrough of this soon.

Burnout Paradise [145(+30)/1250]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Booted this up to pick up a viral achievement for GTASC bonus, and got two for one.

Plague Inc: Evolved [1250(+100)/1540]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

This is one of my favourite games of all time. I grinded out a few achievements in it, and made it a goal of mine to complete this game by the end of the year hopefully.

Microsoft Jackpot (Win 8)[0(+10)/200]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I like gambling. I like video games. Yay. I'm working on this like the other Casual Collection games, but doubt I'll complete it anytime soon.

Age of Sparta (Win 8)[0(+110)/200]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

This is going to be another long grind of mine throughout the year. The early game is pretty easy achievement-wise, but I believe the end game is kinda rough and long, so except this to pop up every now and again.

Lots of cheevos, lots of score. Week 4 was a really good week, and to balance that out, I'm going to have another slow week, like all of my odd numbered weeks. I might pick up some Forza Horizon 3, or Solitaire if I have time, but don't except too much. Thanks for reading and see y'all on February 4th!

PermalinkWeek 3 - Flipping Cards and Taking Names
Like Week 1, I wasn't too busy this week, but I did get a bit of stuff done to try and pull my weight for GTASC.

Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP) [450(+280)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

This was my main game of choice for the week, and I never want to see cards again. I did 165 challenges in about 2 days using Youtube for the solutions. It was a massive pain and in the end it only paid off 66%, as the achievement for a diamond badge did not unlock unfortunately. I did manage to pick up Become A Star today, on the Windows 10 version for ACHIEVEMENTS: 7/600 (1.12%).

Forza Horizon 3 [0(+50)/2500]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I borrowed this game from my brother and played it for about an hour, and am really enjoying it. This is my third Forza game, and is my favourite racing game with GRID being a close second.

DreamBreak [0(+100)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I bought this earlier in the week when it went on sale, and started playing it today. So far, it's an alright game, seems like a mix between Another World and Monkey Island of sorts. I'll be finishing this game with a few other completions during the next week.

That's all for Week 3, but Week 4 is going to be a big week. I should be finishing up DreamBreak, NERO, and The Fall, within a day or two. Doom 3: BFG Edition should be arriving via GameFly soon, allowing me to complete Doom, Doom 2, and Doom 3. I'll also might be going for whatever the offered bonus is for Week 3 of GTASC next week in my Week 4, but who knows. Thanks for reading, see you on January 28th!

PermalinkWeek 2 - Disney and Getting Drunk
Well, Week 2 and I have been a busy bee. GTASC has started up and me and my teammate SA Scorpio have been busy. I've also had a lot of time on my hands this week to knock out a lot of achievements. So, without further ado here's week 2

Microsoft Ultimate Word Games (Win 10) [420(+20)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I love word puzzles, so this coming out was like a dream come true. I started it up back in August, but got sidetracked and haven't continue working on it since. I picked up the Star Solver achievement on Monday, getting ACHIEVEMENTS: 2/600 (0.33%).

Disneyland Adventures [0(+395)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Originally, when I bought my Kinect for 360, I purchased Kinect Disneyland Adventures as well. I played through that a little, but the weird Kinect controls pushed me away from it. When this game was announced as a remaster without the need for a Kinect, I was super excited. I bought this over the holiday sale and went to work. I knocked out a majority of the game, whilst unlocking Pleased To Meet You! as my first achievement, and being ACHIEVEMENTS: 3/600 (0.50%).

Enter the Gungeon [30(+15)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I did a single run of this, unlocking this single achievement. Enjoying this game, but it will be a slow grind.

Virginia [0(+1000)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Unsuprisingly, I bought this over the holiday sale as well, and I've wanted to purchase it for a while. This game is something else, but not really in a good way. I like to think this game is just what drugs are like, but that did not prevent be from getting COMPLETIONS: 2.

de Blob 2 [0(+20)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I really do love this game! It is so unique and it's art style is wonderful. My only problem with the game is the achievement that requires me to beat the game without purchasing any upgrades. I beat the first level, Paradise Island, unlocking ACHIEVEMENTS: 4/600 (0.67%).

ARK: Survival Evolved [0(+230)/1500]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I have made a grave mistake, and that is starting this game. Unfortunately, I thought this game was an easy four hour completion with a title update. I was wrong. To complete ARK, you need to buy the DLC, that itself does not have achievements, which is either twenty or thirty dollars. I rented this game through Gamefly, started working on it through the walkthrough, but once I got to the achievement for reaching max level, it did not unlock. I read through the comments, where it stated that due to the title update, there was a new workaround, but the DLC recently changed it again, making the game uncompletable unless you buy the DLC. I'll be seeing if TA can edit ARK's gamepage to make such noticable for future players, so no one makes the same mistake I did.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain [0(+105)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

At first, I wasn't a big fan of this game. The tutorial/prologue was way too long in my opinion, and the walkthrough was giving me a headache. After I put the walkthrough away and got past the prologue, I was extremely enjoyed this game for a bit. One of my only complaint is that the finding of objeective is a bit hard, but other than that it is extremely fun. I kidnapped a lot of dudes unlocking me Platoon for ACHIEVEMENTS: 5/600 (0.83%)

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag [285(+10)/1250]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I got this game when I bought my Xbox One and played it a bit, but threw it on a backburner. I quickly popped in hopped to Cuba and got wasted for Hungover being ACHIEVEMENTS: 6/600 (1.00%).

BioShock (X360) [150(+90)/1100]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I started this game a while back and also played the Xbox remaster. I played through all of Arcadia, but got distracted but other games, I'll eventually go back someday and finish this game.

Crypt of the Serpent King [0(+25)/1000]
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

I purchased another game that was really cheap and an easy completion. I played through the first level but accidently screwed up the leveling up part, so I'll beat this someday.

Pretty busy week compared to first week, in all honestly. Next week is going to be a slow week again, with hopefully some achievements in Microsoft Solitaire Collection (UWP). That's all for now, see you on January 21st!
