How much will it be?
£4.50, I believe. I may be wrong though.
Any idea how much of a difference MP will make. I'm curious if I should try to snag a second copy for my co-host so we can play against each other.
Multiplayer is really fun! I love pissing off my "close friends" by swamping them with Dead when they are struggling to survive.
When's it out Manic? Is it the same developer or publisher of living dungeon?
Same dev/publisher of Living Dungeon. It's releasing on October 31st.

Happy 6th TAnniversary
Happy anniversary sexy!
Activision is trash. Why do I support them? :/
And I'm not even suprised at this point
I'm glad I don't bother with their only couple of franchises anymore lol
Wow that's low of them. Sadly if it makes them money then other companies will do the same
Typical gaming industry underhand and abusive means to suck dimes from accounts
People that are actively against microtransactions are fucking idiots. Don't fucking buy them, end of story.
I'm cool with cosmetics and even speed ups but effectively breaking gameplay to force a purchase is fucked.
This makes business sense, so whats so surprising. If the consumer is stupid enough, then good luck to them
Sadly it seems 2018 will be spearheaded by these new gambling mechanics.
I assume you've seen some of Jim Sterling's takes on this issue. It's certainly the new plague of video gaming.

I'm talking from my experience, I used to be heavily invested into games with big budgets and pushing boundaries. I loved games when they felt complete. Moving from AAA-
Yeah, after I heard about the grind in Forza 7, and rain and night tracks being locked behind loot boxes I refused to buy it.
to indie games now has what has helped me a lot. AAA = having a meal but chopped up and not being able to eat it all without paying for more and more.
rain and night tracks are not locked behin loot boxes in forza 7 LOL
I'm not going to touch Forza 7 or Shadow of War.
Nah but they changed the currency to better suit loot crates. Don't even get credits for difficulty now. They added in driver customisation just for the sake of it
Think you need to do some more research, or actually play things before you start speaking. Currently, you can't even use real money to buy crates in forza.
Nothing important is locked behind them. It's a progression system that many games use. You earn in game money, you can choose what to spend it on. It's not required.
It doesn't give you any advantage over anyone else. 'Not touching' the game because of how they chose to do their progression system is laughable.
If microtransactions arent required, why would they add them in?
Many games use a fast track system. Battlefield series, for example. Again, nothing really wrong with it. Let people spend money on what they want
Again, my original line. "F2P mechanics should not be in premium games" - Do you agree or disagree?
Shadow of Wars is jsut a fast track system. You can earn everything by playing, same as Battlefield. Forza is a profession system. You can earn everything by playing.
Just for the record, I'm not against loot boxes being in games when there is no "paid currency".
Any F2P mechanic, or just the ones which involve obfuscation of the transaction process? Because F2P games also pioneered some interesting game mechanics as well.
They are added because it's a choice. If people want to buy cosmetics, let them. If they don't have hundreds of hours to unlock weapon skins or driver suits, let them buy
Cosmetics are a part of an experience, which once was in the base game, as many other parts of the games experience, which are being stripped away daily.
And I disagree. It's in battlefield one and I couldn't care less. I unlocked every gun myself. If people want to waste money, let them, it doesn't effect me
But it does increase Dev revenue. Which is good
Nothing is being stripped away. In both your examples, everything in the crates can be earnt without spending a penny. Your point is moot.
However, if a AAA mp game offered the best weapon or some huge advantage that was behind a paywall, that's a different argument.
There are plenty of games where cosmetics are hidden behind a paywall, with many other features of the game.
I'm just using the two examples you gave, and you're wrong on both
Brings up Destiny 2 and their "one time use shader". It's all about abusing systems to try and get people into buying stuff. "You could grind... or skip it all by paying"
It's cosmetic, so what. It's the exact same as if they listed it seperstely as Dlc, like some games do (watch dogs as an example). Who cares how they choose to do it
If you boycott those, you will have nothing left to play
COD MW1 Remastered does that, hides better weapons in crates.
There's been around 1600 games released on Steam since July. I don't think I'm short of more quality experiences such as "hellblade senuas sacrifice" which sadly X1 won't
I haven't played it so I can't comment on it. I don't speak about stuff without knowing first hand.
I've really enjoyed our discussion though, you've brought up some great quality points.
Regarding a message I missed earlier - why add micro transactions to forza why add them. They aren't a micro transaction. It's the games progression. They are just in
Boxes rather than the clothes shop. In GTA, you earn money, buy a house. Or a car. Or a boat. Or a gun
In forza, you earn in money. You buy a car. Or a clothes crate. Or a mixed crate. Or a mod crate. You've seen the word crate and thought omg before researching what they
Actually are, contain and do.
What crates are, are a gambling mechanic, used to exploit people with addictive personalities for more money. You can never know what you're going to get, and I love -
random things, but these are being added to pry on users who love gambling. I feel sorry for people who have quit gambling or trying to avoid gambling.
More often than not, you're going to get something shit in them, but also, something really good making you want to put more money in, to get better stuff.
No, everything in them is equal. Low crates offer common etc. if you really want a car, you go buy that car. If you want a cheaper gamble you can. Again, all in game £
But to finish - I'm not saying purchases should be in forza. I'd personally rather no outside money could be used, and everything is unlockable only in game.
My debate actually stemmed from the fact you said you wouldn't play games because of the systems, which I had to laugh at.
Many games do the same. It's just the difference between listing the cosmetics in game, and listing them as Dlc on the marketplace. There's zero difference.
If the super pink bunny costume is on the marketplace for £1.99, no one cares. If it's in game for 400 gems it's like omg nooooo way this is an outrage.
In F2P games, at least you have a decent excuse. For premium titles, you have none. All forms of microtransactions are based in corporate greed, and that is never, ever,
If you see my points. Anyway, your call. But in a side note, forza 7 is worth a play. And it's progression system is fine.
a good thing for the consumer. It's unfair, unnecessary, and it completely breaks any chance at immersion when it's shoehorned in.
No, it's not that. It's more of a case of "spend £1.99 for a CHANCE to win the super pink bunny costume". *opens the crate* Oh it's not there.... but I really want it...
*opens another crate* £1.99 --- Oh it's not there again... Let me just open another one....
Not to mention how something like this intrudes upon the artistic integrity of a developer when it's forced by a retarded publisher, as is often the case.
If you support that, you support everything wrong with the state of the industry. The fact that we even call it an industry shows how pathetically corporate it's become.
@awoo - see my point about where stuff is listed. It's the same. Why is buying money in GTA ok then? Because it's listed on the marketplace as a shark card? It's the same
The only model anyone, and everyone should have an issue with is pay2win. Anything cosmetic, grow up
Oh and "fast track" systems are definitely not okay in any scenario. If you put that in, you are probably also designing your game in an overly tedious/grindy way in
order to coerce people into using it, and that's fucking bullshit. If I pay for a game once, I should not be forced nor tempted to pay again, actual DLC aside. Period.
ok Adam, regarding that, I can see e frustration
**fucked my last message up - 'Ok Adam, on that gamble I can see the frustration'
Grow up? You mean "bow down and accept your assfucking by publishers like a good little bitch"? You can enjoy that by yourself, thank you very much.
But frustration, not annoyance, its cosmetic, therefore it doesn't matter.
Buying money in GTA is not okay. None of it is. Cosmetic stuff is about as harmless as it gets, but that doesn't make it okay. You have to consider WHY that stuff isn't
just readily available to players for free. Because greed. And that is not okay.
how are they assfucking me? It's a cosmetic item. It doesn't effect my life if anyone has it, or anyone doesn't. So why do I care.
If people wanna buy it, so what. If they don't, so what.
There was a moment in time when it was free, but it was taken away and now made as "optional" - I'm generally worried about more core stuff being taken away and put as-
"optional" stuff instead.
At the end of the day, it's an issue of disconnect between publishers and players. Nobody WANTS this, everyone ACCEPTS it. We should not think that way.
Cosmetics used to be free and a core part of the experience, but now they are not. Most the times locked behind paywalls. I generally enjoy cosmetic stuff.
The gambling commision is very concerned about these gambling elements inc the lokes of Fifa, pegi don't seem to give a shit tho.
I can't agree on the progression system in Forza, after watching the Jim Sterling video and hearing that the progression to get to the next tier of cars just seems kind
They're assfucking you because every single time you stand for any of this, you're saying it's okay, and giving them the green light to make it even worse next time.
of opposite of the great progression systems of the past in the game it really turned me off from it. It just seems like a lot of fun parts of previous games has been
Not really Adam. If cosmetics are offered to be bought, there are akways still some free.
And they will. They always will.
swapped out. In addition I have bought all the other special editions of the main Forza Motorsports games, but once I saw that the special edition ‘cars’ are
simply something along the lines of 5 time use and not permanent I just couldn’t buy it anymore. As for the loot crates locking a boost in credits behind them
that takes away the fun of trying races on different difficulties, at least for me, and like discussed opens up the possibility for actually charging for them.
but I love cosmetic stuff. I'm also just happy to earn it. And the dude who keeps harping on about publishers needs to realise most game companies currently lose money.
But the ones which are the "bought" ones are often the better and sought out ones. It means they won't be available for me as I don't want to purchase anything else after
buying the game at full price.
They are a business, with investors. It's why they churn out so much useless cosmetic stuff. Even AAA games lose money.
Look at Mafia 3. Huge name. Lost like 100 million or something stupid. Huge shops like THQ going bankrupt.
Global market income was 101.8 billion in 2016, and will rise to roughly $128.5 billion by 2020. They definitely arent losing out on money.
Hellblade was built by a small company, AAA quality with a price tag of $30. They just want you to believe that.
Haidoc - where are you getting your info? The special cars are not 5 time use. They are yours. Same as all forzas. Source - I have them.
They messed up the VIP rewards, which they have already corrected. It is now fixed in the next patch
And no idea what the guy said about the progression system, but it's fine. You buy cars to level up your collector rating. Same as every other game. Level up. Get better
They are "failing in sales" because they have ridiculous sales figures expected, they make a HELL of money yet still consider games "failed" which is pretty sad.
Stuff. Exactly the same as a weapon in say destiny saying 'level 20 required'.
Think you misread what I said. I said most shops lose money. Not the industry. That figure you just quoted, I bet EA, Microsoft, Activision etc make up 95% of the sales.
But the majority of devs (not the big four or whatever) are losing out
Gah, now I can't find it, I thought it was the Ars Technica review but it isn't that. Maybe it was comments regarding Jim Sterlings video.
Wish I had saved the link, possibly on the Forza subreddit but once again I can't find it.
There were VIP mods included that were five time use, and they didn't enable permanent double credits. People thought instead of double credits they just got 5 use double
We are moving to a more digital phase is why. Physical stuff is being outphased. Majority of devs arent losing out. I work in the industry daily considering I do-
Freelance marketing and PR for majority of studios and devs.
Credit mods. It is fixed next patch and everyone will be happy.
The VIP pack will offer permanent double credits.
Gaming industry makes twice the income from Film and Music industries combined. It's a huge huge industry right now and it keeps on growing.
So you do have to buy cars to get to the next level of vehicle usage? And even if you have enough credits to buy more expensive vehicles it still locks you out of using
them until you have bought enough cars to get to that proper level? If that is correct then that is one part of the progression system I really dislike.
You have to remember Microsoft and Sony make 30% per cut from each sale on the marketplace of theirs, as does Steam. Stuff like Namco and those tier publishers make-
around 1 billion roughly per year. Activision, MS and Sony around 3 billion per year. Tencent did the best with 5 billion.
As you see though, the total income is 101 billion or so, so there is a LOT of money going around to everyone, but, AAA games sales are always super healthy.
Erm....Advanced Warfare has the best weapon variants behind locked drops which gave those who managed to acquire them a huge advantage...
Battlefront 2 is also using a similar mechanic where you can spend forever earning scrap to get them or try to win them in a paid for lootcrate.
Didn't want to see my feed today or anything :p
At Haidoc - yes, but that's a standard progression system. Consider it end game. No game gives you the best stuff at the start. You start off with normal cars, end up
With Hyper cars. I wouldn't expect any different. If this didn't exist, there is no progression
But I will say it's really low gated. You only have to hit collector level 5 for top most cars.
46% of gamers so far have this achievement. It doesn't take long at all.
Tbh, they've set it so low they might as well not have included it.
That's the thing though, it starts of harmlessly, then inch by inch they nudge further. Constantly pushing the boundaries. That's it right there.
Slowly moving forward and forward, till it becomes the norm. That my friend is it.
But isn't that a huge change from the previous games? If I choose to grind credits for 10 hours to buy the Bugatti Veyron I should be able to use it right away.
"they've set it so low they might as well not have included it." - They did though and they know, setting the bar very low and then slowly raising it, is how to do it.
I didn't realize the bar was that low, most of the reviews made it out to be this huge grind, and mind you I read them 6-7 days ago.
I disagree. Its to add realism. Why would some new driver in the Sunday cup be driving a veyron? They wouldn't. Progression keeps you where you should be.
If you want to drive any car, you can in free play or MP by renting it.
Rent is free, just means you can't paint/customise it.
Single player campaign mode should always have a progression system.
I guess that is where we differ and where I dislike the progression system. Even if the bar is low it doesn't seem fun to me.
so it's the best of both words. Manic doesn't have to grind for 10 hours because he can use the car in free play. And it also keeps some form of 'career' aspect as people
Start off their careers in corsas not lambos.
Loot boxes and any other form of Microtransaction that revovle around RNG is NOT okay! Even if it is cosmetics. They SHOULD be in the game in the first place.
Remember when CoD has skins as rewards for completing challenges?
You wouldn't be able to use it anyway. Like previous forzas, championships have car restrictions. Same as previous games.
Start in shit cars and work up
In League of Legends there a certain skins that are banned in official tournaments as they impact the gameplay.
Additionally, research was done into this whole microtransactions fiasco and they found out that both Gambling and Microtransactions use the same methods.
They both use a different form of currency to create a disconnect between the player and the game. Both use the 'temporary win excitement' to entice people to spend money
Same as Smite. Some skins are banned due to advantages,
Some games even give out crates/boxes for free at certain milestones to show the player the contents of the loot crates to, again, entice them to spend money.
These are shady practices and, quite frankly, very insulting. Most games are being stripped away to incorporate RNG microtransaction mechanics.
If you give the greedy publishers an inch of leeway, they will take full advantage of it and take a mile. Vote with your money.
It may not look like problematic now as the items are 'just cosmetic, who gives a shit?' but in the future they will take full advantage of it.
In Japan in-game loot boxes are banned and in other Asian countries they are regulated under gambling laws
Look at SW Battlefront 2. Weapons, abilities and other game altering items are locked away behind crates. Sure you can 'keep playing' but you CAN also buy them.
In China Blizzard ended up removing loot boxes from Overwatch to comply with the regulations otherwise they were going to be heavily penalised for breaking gambling rules
We are paying £50 for a finished product and we SHOULD get a finished product. Why do I have to keep seeing currency, boxes and rng elements in my games?
If I see a skin I want, I want to be able to work towards it and unlock it. Not 'grind everyday' to rack up currency just to open a box to find out i got somethign I ...
...didnt want. But I guess 'its a cosmetic item so i shouldnt give a shit' right?
If anyone here agrees with what I am saying, then please sign this petition. UK only!<br/>https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/201300
I dont want to see the gaming industry go to shit or to see children getting addicted to this form of thing. Casinos wont accept children as it is against the law...
But nothing is stopping them from playing games with addictive microtransactions.
Never seen as many comments as this!
Unlocks should be rewards. Random shit should be saved for games like Diablo and Borderlands, where it drops like rain around you.
Paid games should absolutely not support this soul sucking, bullshit gambling mechanic. It's utterly disgusting
Bottom line: If you support gambling mechanics in £50 games, you're a fucking brainwashed lackadaisical moron. An absolute imbecile. A plague carrier.
Could you imagine if an achievement was released requiring us to get the ultra super, mega deluxe alpha, gamma legendary rare item?
People would be complaining non stop about it. Kind of similar to thw +5 rings in Neverwinter. RNG is not fun. Cant we go back to the old Halo days?
Where everyone was on an equal playing field and you could get extra armour sets from achievements. Those were the good days.
Hate micro transactions and the whole loot box thing, but if I want to play a game and they have either, I'll play it regardless, but only buy the base game
I'm okay with cosmetics being behind paywalls with boxes etc but that's because they don't effect me personally. I can see why it bothers others tho
Vortex, plenty of games have this. Like, tons. Forza 6 had an achievement locked behind an RNG crate. So many games have RNG achievements based off drops or w/e.
Behind a paywall would be different, and against MS terms and conditions they set forth to devs though
And Matteus - I doubt anyone supports gambling in games. But I don't mind an element of randomness etc as long as it's optional. The key difference here, is that there
Are too many factors. Time, disposable income etc. Example. I rarely buy cosmetic Dlc in any games (except smite. I'm bad on that). But, if I see a chance at a skin let's
Say in an RNG crate, and I want it, I might say sod it I'll throw a £10 at it. You say that makes me an imbecile? Sure. I'm an adult, I understand gambling. If I lose, I
Know the risks and consequences. I also don't care if I lose a £10 as it's not much to me. It's far too situational man.
That's why I keep saying, as long as it's optional, it does no harm. Some people like it, some don't. Meh. Peace.
Optional or not, if random boxes encourage a gambling mentality any game that contains these elements should be age rated as such 18+
Rocket League has crate based achievements that rely on luck to get uncommon items for some of the updates, although at least you can trade those with others.
There's no reason for it to be "optional", it's harmful and prying on people to give in to temptation. Just like on Destiny 2 where you identify your engrams, and the-
place you do it, is also where they sell premium items. It's pathetic. Should not be in paid games at all. Pay to win in free games was bad enough as it is.
Using "it's optional" is what they want you to say, so they can slowly add more and more. That's how it starts, just not being troublesome, but then slowly takes more and
more parts of the game away. For instance COD MW1, you could've got skins before from headshots and ig challenges, now you can't cause it's cache items.
I definitely like the idea of a loot crate WHICH doesnt have any sort of real life money option though. In fact, I hate all sorts of microtransactions in premium games.
The mere thought of these "devs and publishers" not making enough money is very insulting when they make billions yearly. The people who don't get enough money are the-
small indie games, which struggle each time to release new games.
The game is designed often for these "optional" things at mind. For instance, let's build a game where we can often remind players that there are "optional" things to-
help out very much. Just like what F2P does so well.
.... All of this over loot crates and micro transactions? Wow...
Wait...what?! Is that actually happening?
Short answer, yes.

Do not like the sound of this!
Complete garbage move if that's true.
It ends but the story continues on after you beat it.
Like Battlefront 2...
Good job there's millions of idiots out there with signifiicantly more money than sense, personally I say; F... that.
This is factually inaccurate, to see the 'true' ending of Shadow of War you need to complete the Shadow Wars more which is available after beating the story mode first.
There are loot boxes and daily/community challenges but none of them are required to beat the game or Shadow Wars mode, they may just make it easier if you get good gear.
To see the real ending you can always use YouTube
The alternative though is a pretty hefty grind, which puts it in the odds of basically saying "You could grind... but you also could skip it with money..." - If they-
arent required, then why would they put them in the game? (I know your point, but this is also another big point.)
Answer: To make more money, because the established series, and established publisher will never make enough, even after the millions they make from each release.
