Grand National Day today here in the UK. clap

For those who aren't aware that is a horse race. A steeplechase run over 4 miles with a field of 40ish horses\jockeys.

It is a hugely popular event in the UK and (according to the reliable chaps at Wikipedia) is watched by around 500 million people in 140 odd countries.

There are two circuits of 15 jumps so 30 jumps in total and it is widely believed to be the toughest test of endurance and strength in horse racing. Not many of the 40ish starters finish the course. In fact the record number of finishers in a race is just 23 and there are usually lots of falls and sadly a few deaths.

Race gets underway at 16:15 GMT.

My each way bets -

Seabass, Teaforthree and Harry the Viking.

If you are thinking of having a punt, steer clear of my choices though as I am notoriously bad at gambling and it is more likely I will end up eating one of mine in a Tesco burger then me winning any cash here wink
