Revisiting “The Walking Dead” (My Lee and Kenny Bromance)
Tons of spoilers.

This was my third time playing season 1. I had originally played it twice on the 360 and decided to give the game another go since the game was free with GWG. My previous playthroughs steered toward the "good" choices. This time around, my role would be the strong silent hype. When I did speak, it was blunt and filled with profanity. This led to me pissing everyone off in the beginning (except for Clementine and Kenny's family). Tensions grew high when I called Lilly a bitch and Larry a racist. I heard different dialog and some scenes were new to me. Even though the outcomes were relatively the same, I appreciated the extra interactions and how conflicts played out.

Towards the end of the game I saw plenty of new scenes. During the dairy farm dinner I allowed Larry to continue eating his meal. If you don't persuade Kenny on the train, Duck turns into a zombie and Lee falls off the train and to his death. I did skip some conversations when Lee was left off to explore areas. This hurt some of my relationships and also improved some. Skipping dialog between Omid and Christa helped me out because I didn’t get on their nerves. They ended up joining me in the last episode.

I hated Kenny the first time I played. I could never stand his appearance, his voice or his thought process. But after endlessly siding with him, I grew to like him. Kenny was my biggest supporter during this playthrough. His obsession with protecting his family reflected what Lee was going through with Clementine. Our mantra was “by any means necessary.” I backed him up at the pharmacy, took care of Duck for him and finding the boat was always our highest priority. It felt weird joining forces with Kenny but it felt perfect for my play style. After previously going against him on my 360 endeavors, he had my back the entire game and fights only occurred when the game's story made them unavoidable.

Oddly, this was the most fun I ever had in a Telltale game. For once I didn't have to worry if I was making the right decision and wasn't stressing during those crucial binary choices that the game presents every episode. Instead, I just focused on the story and the new responses from the supporting cast.

Lastly, the Georgia highway focused “400 Days” episode was rather refreshing. I remember not giving it enough credit when it first came out. Even though the various scenarios were extremely short, I enjoyed all of them and thought the lead characters were diverse and likable.
