#100kChallenge - March/April Review - Part 2
Welcome to part two of my monthly review for the #100kChallenge. This part of the review looks to cover the details of the challenge, what I played, where I gained my gamerscore and how much I have spent trying to do it.
As it has been a while since I reviewed my progress for this challenge I thought it would benefit everyone if I gave a quick reminder of what the #100KChallenge is.
If you want to find out why I started the #100kChallenge then why not check out my short article on the price of gaming - here. What is the #100kChallenge?
The purpose of the #100kChallenge is to try and unlock a high gamerscore without spending too much money. To make the challenge....well more challenging I set myself a few rules to stick by throughout the duration of the #100kChallenge.
*Minimum Gamerscore of 100,000 by Jan 2019
*Monthly budget of £25 per month - money saved not carried over to next month
*All games must be playable via Xbox One, ID@Xbox and backwards compatibly
*Games can be played via Gamepass, GWG, EA and rented
*Start the year with a new account - so no currently owned games allowed to be used
*XBOX Live Gold needs to be purchased and deducted from the monthly budgetWhy do it anyway?
I started the challenge as I like achievement hunting and wanted to see if I could do it on a limited budget. One of the first articles that I wrote for the blog was about the price of games. With the average price of new release in the UK being around £50 gaming is an expensive passion/hobby/lifestyle however you describe it/
So lets get on with the finer details...Games Played
This section is simply a list of all the games that I have played where I unlocked at least 1 achievement.
Over the course of the two months I have played 30 games and unlocked a good amount of gamerscore. March was much more productive than April - see part 1 for why - overall I am very happy with my total.

Nothing too official here, just my picks for my favourite and worst games that I played in the month. These are based purely on my own opinions of the games I have played.Best Game
Normally the hardest game to pick is the my best game of the month. As I tend to play a variety of games I always find I am presently surprised with how good some games turn out to be.
Take Tower of Guns for example, it isn't the most in depth game or really the most difficult but I had loads of fun playing it. Reminded me a lot of old school Doom!
Super Lucky’s Tale was another game I thoughrly enjoyed playing. A great game that again gave me a step back into the past. A platormer similar instlye to Crash Bandicoot or Spyro.
However this month the game that I have chosen as best game is The Walking Dead: A New Frontier.
I am a huge fan of this TellTale series, so picking this as my top choice was a no contest really.
Having played the previous two instalments of the game I was interested with what direction they would take the story this time around. I was not to be disappointed.
The game play has remained the same throughout all of TellTale’s collection. A newer take on point and click games that give you multiple answers for dialogue and decisions that change the story.
Although the overall story is mostly already decided, I find the choices still prove to be difficult (if the choice is between saving two characters) and always took me time to keep certain character behaviours the same throughout the game.
For me though this game was mainly used to setup the final instalment (of Clementine’s story at least) which is due out later this year.
Something I can’t wait to try.Worst Game
I have previously picked a game for this category as the worst game I have played the previous month. This month though I have decided to stop picking the worst game.
This has been decided (uncharacteristically in all fairness) as I don't actually want to shit anyone. Games take a lot of work to come together and I think it would be unfair to take away from all that handwork as it could be something someone is proud of.
Even if your name is Horse Racing 2016.....Easiest completion
This is for the game that I found easiest to fully complete and unlock all the achievements for.
This month I have chosen Energy Cycle as my easiest completion.
This game was released in the US market Jan 2016 but has only been available in the UK since March 2018.
Energy Cycle is a completion which takes around 15 minutes. Possibly the quickest completion on the Xbox One. You play the game by turning a ball of energy into a different colour by selecting it. Once this is done it runs the whole row of connecting balls of energy to the same colour. The idea of this puzzle style game is too match the colours of the balls of energy.
As it was only around 15 minutes I had to pick it for easiest game of the month.March Spend
