#100k Challenge - Day 16 update
Well another four days down so another post with my progress. In theory my plan over the past four days was to get Gears of War 4 started, 100% complete Tomb Raider: Underworld, get my house in perfect order and start running. In reality what happened was not start Gears 4 - but start a lacrosse game, didn't even complete the second stage of Tomb Raider. My marathon career is a none starter as its far too cold still and my house still looks like a bomb has hit it. To be fair I do have 3 kids and 2 dogs so keeping on top of it all is an endless wave but I love the challenge.
What have I been playing?
Like I mentioned I started Casey Powell Lacrosse 16 - now we don't play this sport in the UK at school so was quite foreign to me (I had only ever heard it from American Pie as Stifler played it at high school). I didn't, and still don't quite understand the rules of the game but I am actually enjoying playing a different kind of sports game for a change. Reviews online seem to quite positive and I am sure that once i get my head around the rules/controls properly I will try to unlock some of the longer achievements in the career mode. I have managed to unlock a few achievements already and as these weren't in my January plan are all extra points.
Van Helsing is still a game I have been playing the past few days and I have managed to unlock most of the quick achievements as well as finishing the main story. Next stage for this is to complete again on the hardest setting (called Fearless....so might be a while).
Purse strings have been kept tight since the start of the challenge but over the last few days I have spent all but £1.39 (remember £25 each month). I needed to buy Xbox Live Gold ready for the start of February and was shopping around when the offer for 6 months Xbox Live Gold for £12.49 was brought to my attention.
This is a great deal (still available) so purchased this straight away, I was going to buy two of them and have the next 12 months covered but this would send me over my budget for the month.
Every Tuesday the Xbox store is updated with sale items so this morning I had a look through to see which games I could pick up that offered quick achievement completion and under £5. I posted on Instagram what I think is the Top 5 for this week. All 5 games were available under £10. After doing this I am left with £1.59 which will just now be carried over to next month.State of Play - 16/01/2018

What else have I been doing?
When I've been gaming over the last few years it has always been in my living room on the sofa. Good for when I have people round but not really great for single player games. My TV is always reflecting the sunlight and using my laptop for guides or watching Netflix at the same time meant I took my eyes of the screen (always a good excuse when losing of course).
So over the last few days I have started making a dedicated gaming area -something that I have wanted to do for years - if you want to see it you can check it out on my Instagram. It is a work in progress but I am very happy with it so far. What next?
My main target for the next few days is to break the 10k Gamerscore marker - this is higher than my initial target of 9k for January but I think once I have hit this the pressure for the first month is off - I could then maybe actually get round to playing Gears 4.As always.....
