Extra Life Game Day 2018 Review
I just wanted to update everyone on the great (and interesting) Extra Life event we had this past weekend. We have raised $1365.00 so far this year for Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. That puts me at 27th highest in #CHoP fundraisers and in the top 2%, #784, of all #ExtraLife participants. This is my best year yet and it is thanks to all of you.
First, Thank You to my wife Joelle Soto for helping host another successful event. Thanks for keeping us fed and backing me off the cliff when hardware wasn't working properly.
Next, Thanks to those who came to the event: Robert & Charlene Taylor, Joe & Diana Zeleski, Kyle Braunsberg, Amanda McKinley, and Linda Soto. You guys helped make the event fun and if it weren't for you, I probably fall asleep during the marathon.
Thanks to those of you who stopped in chat and shared the posts and video about the marathon: Cathy Breden, Jonathan McKinley, Diana Baker, Jennifer Paris, Diana Zeleski, Elliot Nicodemi, Brandon Fream, David Whelan, @chindocta, @ozbundyboy, @kooshmoose, @weezyfuzz, and others.
Lastly, and MOST importantly, thanks to those that could donate before and during the event: Jon Nase, Charlene & Robert Taylor, Marcus Summers, Jason O'Brien, Matt Kniller, Michelle Balsan, Cathy Breden, Edward Pambin, Will Martin, Anonymous Donor (😉), Richard Moser, Tarragon Eames, @ShihTzuOnYou, John Frees, Corey Lyle, Nba Kirkland, @paintballgirl, Joe & Diana Zeleski, Larry Zeleski, Catherine Geske, Brett Glowacki, David Whelan, Darren Exley, @56coopers11, Kyle & Dana Braunsberg, Linda Soto, Jason & Megan Galusha, @chocolatebear80, @WeezyFuzz, Phoebe Torrens, Meredith Styer Jacks, Timothy & Jennifer Paris, Rich & Sandy Braunsberg, Chris Ring, Anonymous Donor 2, and a few of the folks at goBalto & Little's John Deere. Thank You for being a true Hero #ForTheKids.
If you think you missed out and didn't get a chance to donate, You Are Wrong. We are still able to take in donations that will count towards this year's totals. And you will be eligable for one of the 8 baskets I'll be giving away to one of my contributors on Dec 15th.

The Day's Play-by-Play:
Even though the event started late due to technical difficulties, USB Card failed, Hauppauge Capture Card failed, 2nd USB Camera failed, nothing would keep us from trying to raise as much as possible #ForTheKids. Due to the setup that worked for us, we played Xbox One most of the day. Rob and I started by playing Madden 2018 (I Lost), shortly lost video afterward. After fixing the video, we played Divekick (I Lost 3 of the 4 times) and then Pac-Man 256 (Thankfully I can't lose). Shortly after playing for a little bit, this is the point Olivia and Ben took over the stream for 20 min while I ate some lunch. Once we filled up, we got back into playing with some Mega Coin Squad and shortly after, Joe joined us. This meant still no wins for Dave :(. Next up was Runbow for a while. even though I figured out a few levels well, I still didn't win any matches. This was the point whre I realized the Extra Life alerts were not working on my end and didn't see the various donations coming in and I didn't mention on stream. Then at one point during the game, two of us tied with a kill in arena mode and it frooze the game and crashed the stream. Fun Times! Kids took over the stream again for a few rounds and Kyle arrived to join in on the fun. After the kids played Speedrunners for a bit, it was time for their dinner. So, we took back over for Tricky Towers... Now this is the game that Extra Life Philadelphia should send me down to Extra Life United to play. I only lost two matches, but no rounds. My kind of game. After an hour and a half of that and because of your donations, I took off the onesie and went outside to take a pie to the face. After a quick shower, contacts out glasses on, I returned and let the others win again by switching over to Knight Squad for an hour. After a quick break to say bye to Kyle, Joe and Diana, Rob and I grabbed a snack and setup to play through a good chunk of the story of LEGO Jurassic World for close to 3 hours. Once Rob decided to crash for the night due to having to work the next day, I logged into Gems of War and played a few rounds for my dailies. Then I tried Fortnite: Save the World campaign for two hours for the first time. I enjoyed it, but could tell I wasn't doing as well because of the need for sleep. And think I need to revisit it since I don't think I understood what was going on with the items from Pinatas and such. After that I played The Video Kid for a half hour, where you could see my reaction time was really bad and my eyes were heavy. SO I turned off that game, went upstairs to walk around for a minute and grab another soda only to return and find the Xbox One doing a manditory update. Whaaaa!!? So some offline games were played for an hour until Rob woke up for the last hour of play. We decided to play Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed to finish out the day. That was that.
24 hours, 18 Games, Lots of Donations!
