The 4k deal - update 2
My local Best Buy has the 55" X900E on display so I thought maybe I'd go there and take a look at the TV. Never hurts to get eyes on the actual product, even if it is months before I will own it. I wonder if they would allow me to hook up the Xbox One S to it and give it a test run. Would have to buy a 4k cable but never hurts to ask.
The major development over the last week or so is that the wife is wanting to change the way the rooms are used. She wants to get rid of a pool table that was here with the house and close off that area to make it another room. Then kick me out of the summer and winter office and put the year long office in that new space. It would be bigger then both seasonal offices but has a few downsides. The first is that it has no cable jack and the placement of the windows would make it difficult to have a good set up that won't show reflections on any screen. And also, I believe that with it being larger, stuff will happen to find its way in there and I just don't want random stuff in there. Since the new wall would be facing the living room, it would need good sound proofing, including a good door. That means more expensive drywall and door.
I suggested that we move the bed from the summer office into the new space and make that a large bedroom with storage for stuff. The summer office would turn into the yearlong office. It already has two cable lines with the internet line running directly to the main splitter. The set up would mirror the way I currently do it but I get to spread out more and use the normal desk. I would also be able to face all of the screens away from the window. Thou, I will still get a very thick window shade. And finally, with several walls and the direction of the noise, there would be no need for any sound proofing of the new wall and door and therefore reduce the cost.
Its currently planned for mid September to do this so I will have plenty of time to find the right layout before the TV purchase. Who knows, maybe I'll end up with the 55" instead of the 49" since space isn't going to be so limited now. :D
I hit 350k gamerscore yesterday and I think its time to take a break from achievements. Its not the first time that I stopped caring and turned off the notifications. I realized during this last push, that I had bought several games over the past few months just for the achievements. Now, most were decent games for the price I paid but I knew that if it wasn't for the achievements, I'd have never bought them. I know its not terrible to buy games for achievements, I'm still supporting the developers and publishers with my money but I'm also using my time to get achievements and not to just have fun.
Thankfully I didn't get burnt out during these past couple weeks but I am going to take a minor break this week and get caught up on some movie watching. I'm really behind on that since I was consumed with hitting 350k.
