Howdy and welcome to a recap of what's happening around TA and Xbox. We'll be looking at Leap Frog, the TA Playlist, Games with Gold and of course, the Overachievers from Period 29 and of course the stats for the period we just finished.

Life Is Strange
(and its 360 variant) are on tap. If you haven't had the chance to experience this story yet, I'd recommend you do. If you haven't done the stack yet - this month may be a great time to jump in. Episode 1 is free on both platforms.
Here's what we've done so far:
830 gamers in total have turned back the clocks with Max. 330 of that total has started a new title with 140 completing it. 11,467 achievements have been unlocked so far worth 194,345 gamerscore and 253,082 TA. Still plenty of the month to participate if you are thinking about joining in.
Year 3 of this hopping event is underway. This year 1,758 joined the event and after just 7 days we've already eliminated 964, well over half the contestants. Today is the day things start to heat up where we add an additional achievement to the mix. Each week an additional achievement is required of the daily ratio and today is Period 8 which is the beginning of Week 2. Whether it be folks forgetting the change or the difficulty jump itself - I see today's elimination being a heftier one. You can hop to the hub here: Leap Frog 2017
7 Teams won the I Know My ABC's
bonus which required each member to spell the Alphabet using achievements.
This period the Solo side is tasked with Lowrider
- End the period with a TA ratio under 1.1
No new winners. There was a recent addition if you wakka wakka wakka this way.
I've put up a poll recently asking about different statistics for use in contests. To add your voice, here's the link: What other statistic makes for interesting competition?
PERIOD 29 OVERACHIEVER INTERVIEWS:
Sitting down with us this time are all 6 of our Overachievers from Period 29. The Solo Champion - BiLLzuMaNaTi
as well as the Team Champions - The Godz Reborn
1) What pushed you to 1st place this period?BiLLzuMaNaTi: I actually wasn't trying for first lol I wanted to get the new achievements in Ark done before the official release incase they get rid of the commands and make it harder to complete. On top of that I played and finished the newly released games at the time Unbox: Newbie's Adventure and Infinite Minigolf (just missing the broken achievement in Unbox) and that gave me so much points.
DeAtHisLaNd: At first, we just wanted most achievements but after a few days we decided to do the Highest TA too and it all worked out after all ! :)
JORAX: Why not? We're in a competition focused on earning points, lets earn some points :).
K4rn4ge: We collaborate well as a team which helped us plan ahead to take the number one spot.
Momie: We knew we wanted to go for some badges in the near future and I was on "staycation" that week, so since having extra time on my side to play would obviously help a lot, we decided as a team that it would be the perfect opportunity to go for it!
Ow Nitram: Playing as usual. My own interpretation is all about the week before with the 4.0 ratio bonus. Our team really likes the challenge offers with each team bonus and we were ready to do this one. We chose the thorny path by playing not-so-good games like ZHEROS (me & my teammates are really good at playing hard, obscure, horrible games ) and a miracle kind of happens for a lot of teams during that week with Minecraft, Ark & Doom DLC/Title updates. In the end, a lot of teams did get the bonus but almost 9 teams out of 10 had to deal with considerable decay the following week. On our side, we even had a TA boost from a couple of games.2) Did you play anything you'd recommend?BiLLzuMaNaTi: Unbox: Newbie's Adventure was really enjoyable to me but I think it's a little overpriced and I just started Fortnite which I definitely recommend because it's awesome.
DeAtHisLaNd: Gunscape is more fun than I thought and Gridd : Retroenhanced is a really fun game ! (Hard also, but I have to comeback to it when we will decide to stop streaking most achievements haha)
JORAX: Not really. D4 was... interesting and crazy. I'm kind of sad it won't have any more seasons so we could see more of the story. Save the Ninja Clan was OK - but nothing compared to older, better platformers like Super Meat Boy.
K4rn4ge: No particular game I played stood out that week.
Momie: I wouldn't recommend the games I started & finished this week, they are pure achievement whore material :) But I did complete Dead Rising 4 this week, which I really liked despite its flaws. The final DLC, Ultra Mini-golf something something, was quite funny even if the achievements were a bit grindy.
Ow Nitram: ReCore, I started the game when it was released back in September but since it was 2 months before the bar examination, I put it back on the shelves. Minus the collec-o-thon and the glitches, I liked the game a lot (classic 3D platformer fan) and I hope for a sequel. I think Mr. Inafune can still do decent game (please patch that last achievement in Migthy No. 9) but I’m not sure if this franchise has any future. The rest of games I played during this week, not recommended 3) What is your favorite boss battle and why?BiLLzuMaNaTi: My favorite boss battle is The Greaty Mighty Poo from Conker's Bad Fur Day because it's ridiculous and funny.
DeAtHisLaNd: I'll go with the Final Boss in Bulletwitch, this boss have to beat 5 times (5 different difficulty) and everytime he took me atleast 45 min to an hour to beat. Fun game tho, I will have to play it again one day (Probably the Jap Stacks :) )
JORAX: I don't know if it was my favorite, but the most memorable has to be Ornstein and Smough from Dark Souls. I died so many times, but when I finally beat them it was exhilarating!
K4rn4ge: I have many favorite boss battles but a really cool one from a recent favorite indie game of mine is the end boss from Stardust Galaxy Warriors: Stellar Climax. The boss is a giant disco ball that shoots lasers/bullets in a psychodelic style with pulsating techno music in the background ... and that is just the first of three phases of the final boss, but probably the coolest / most unique.
Momie: I would probably pick Dr. Wily in the early MegaMan games. I think it was one of my first "real" boss battles that I've played that needed strategy and pattern learning. ( No Bowser in SMB doesn't count :) ). I remember when I learned about the pause menu/electricity weapon glitch to defeat the orange monster in MM1, it was a game changer!
Ow Nitram: Hard to decide between Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess but I’ll say Twilight Princess’ Ganon battle is my favorite. Great variety from Ganon, final horse battle scene was really good (Calamity Ganon in Breath of the Wild was a letdown imo). Honorable mention to Liquid Ocelot in MGS4, was memorable for the soundtrack. I’d like to add to this list Miss Enoshima, however, since this game (which is Playstation/PC exclusive) is not yet released outside of Japan and I saw at least 3 or 4 persons on TA with custom gamerpics related to this game series, I won’t go into any detail to avoid spoiler upupupu.4) What first attracted to you TrueAchievements?BiLLzuMaNaTi: It was a long time ago, I was looking around for help on a game I found TA with a great community of fellow gamers hunting achievements and I've been here ever since :)
DeAtHisLaNd: Don't really remember, probably the stats & leaderboard.
JORAX: I love stats, and being able to see my Gamerscore broken down over time and by genre was really cool. Plus, its fun keeping tabs on my score compared to my friends.
K4rn4ge: The thing that attracted me to TrueAchievements years ago was the friend feed since it was an easy way to see what my friends were up to and their achievement progress more easily than Xbox.com (and still true to this day!). I also got drawn to the site leaderboards here on TA, especially after Mygamercard.net shut down (RIP).
Momie: It think it's the achievement tracking that interested me in the first place. IIRC, MyGamerCard.net was also doing achievement tracking but it eventually shutdown. TA became the obvious choice for tracking achievements. It's only after that the ratio/achievement rarity stuff got its hooks in me
Ow Nitram: All the stats, community, features offer here. The way I use it, I always find to be totally worth it to support TA. I think my favorite thing is the TrueAchievements Score, at one point, you need to play hard games and not only bean dive 3000 games to rank high and I’m happy TA takes the difficulty of a game (with ratio) into consideration. 5) What is your favorite genre game to play and why?BiLLzuMaNaTi: Its hard to pick one. I would say it's a tie between sandbox games and survival. I like exploring open worlds, playing a game the way I want to and also I love survival games. I had so much fun with Minecraft when it first released on Xbox 360. Starting from nothing and building/collecting everything needed for the achievements was so much fun.
DeAtHisLaNd: Shoot 'Em Up/Dual Stick-Shooter ! Simply because Im good at them and I don't need a guide to complete the them. They are my favourite genre, I'll pick First Person Shooter as my 2nd choice.
JORAX: Lately Roguelike and Rogue-lite games have been catching my attention. Something about having to really master a game to make progress feels very satisfying to me.
K4rn4ge: My favorite genre to play is easily twin-stick shooter because of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved when it first launched over a decade ago. There are so many great twin stick shooters on Xbox One now but still none of them dethrone the Geo Wars series in my book.
Momie: Turn-based strategy or RPG games. I really like having the time to plan out a strategy and work with different character abilities. Unfortunately, there's not a whole bunch of those games on Xbox, good thing I also like other genres!
Ow Nitram: A lot of them. Japanese shmup, 3D platformer, Hack & Slash and, since two of my favorite series ever are Ace Attorney and Danganronpa like I explained in a previous interview, can’t skip the Visual Novel/Adventure genre. I like heavy, story-driven games on one side and intense action on the other like shmup and H&S, quite the opposite I know.6) If you could chose a different stat to base a contest on, what would it be? Why?BiLLzuMaNaTi: I can't think of a different stat to base a contest on but maybe a head to head contest like UHH but instead of going for certain achievements the contestants try to earn the most achievements in the week or get the most completions.
DeAtHisLaNd: Kinda GTASC mix with Leap Frog. Every week the ''cutoff'' gets higher and higher (For example, Week 1, you need 1,000 TA to pass the week, Week 2, you need 2,000 TA, etc. until one guy still stand :)
JORAX: It would be cool to see some sort of contest that emphasized co-op games. I'm not sure how it would work though. It might encourage people to reach out and make new friends and play some games differently then they would normally.
K4rn4ge: No ideas at the moment for a new type of contest.
Momie: Well, since I'm a completionist, the obvious choice for me would be completion percentage or complete games but I'm not sure it would make a compelling competition... Honestly TA is the perfect stat, as it allows for many different strategies to score and we need to take decay or increase into account which adds another layer on top of it..
Ow Nitram: Haha, good question, could be debate for hours I’m sure. As for the GTASC, I think the fact of being TA score-based is great because, otherwise, it would be a contest of who did not play the easiest, fastest, 1000G completion. As for a new contest, maybe something where you need to do a number of completions during a certain amount of time or you are eliminated, a bit like Leap Frog (i.e. 7 days for 1 completion, 5 days for 1 completion, 6 days for 2 completions, etc.). 7) Is there anything else you'd like to add?BiLLzuMaNaTi: Just a thank you to True Achievements and staff for making and running such a great site with fun contests :)
DeAtHisLaNd: Thanks again for your time and see you next week (If we manage to finish first...I guess ! )
JORAX: Hey look, we made it farther than last year!
K4rn4ge: I'll leave you with one important piece of advice... whatever you do... DONT PLAY BOKOSUKA WARS II ! IT'S A TRAP!
Momie: Thanks again to planting42 for running the contest and shout out to my teammates, it's a joy to be competing with you guys!
Ow Nitram: As always, thanks for this opportunity and I would like to point that a year ago, at the same period, my team (even though I wasn’t there due to the bar school/exam and had to give up my seat to someone else) was eliminated by 1 TA. Now, for the same period, I’m answering your interview questions after finishing 1st
