  • BONUS RECAP:
Raise the Bar was quite the popular bonus as it only asked you to score a minimum of 5,000TA. 185 in total were able to put in the effort to reach that target. Here's the lucky list:
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

4 of these high scorers also popped their first bonus. Congratulations to:
NightHawk673
DoofyGiant
The Fury I84I
snuffdaddy01

The bonus up for grabs this period is one the Team gets to work on. This one is certainly a big ask - you have to get your team to end the period with a ratio over 4.0. That means we take the ending scores for the period and do the following math:

TA/GS=ratio

That means your team's ending TA score has to be at least 4 times the gamerscore earned to be eligible for this bonus. See if you can join the Mile High Club!

No winners this period.

  • OVERACHIEVER INTERVIEW:
Another period gives us a chance to sit down with the Overachievers - both the Solo Overachiever as well as a member of Period 1 Survivors.
1) What pushed you to 1st place?
Inferno118: I wasn't going to get first until I saw on Tuesday morning that the top place was pretty achievable in a day if I spammed easy games and some more preloads. The main reason I went for the stack is because I expect to be able to get overachiever for this week as well, due to an inflated quarterly year release wink. Also before I get too far into this, a quick shoutout to staggerxlee because he was going to do a funny interview, and everyone was pretty pissed I passed him. He should've technically won had I not used Giana preloads.... sorry to the GTASC juggernauts that actually read these each week redface
Unmet Player: We won this week because of my teammate Jinus2015. He has been preparing for a while now to do a huge 24 hour gamerscore grind, and this week happened to be the week he did it. He didn't score as much as he wanted to, but it is still very impressive what he managed to do. I know how hard it is for him to find free time, and he was going on very little sleep. He also didn't score for the full 24 hours. We plan on using this to start a good streak.

2) Did you play anything you'd recommend?
Inferno118: Aaero! Seriously one of the most entertaining games I have played in awhile, you won't regret it. It's an electronic music game, which would turn most ppl off, such as I expected myself to be, but the songs and gameplay are entrancing. Huge recommendation
Unmet Player: My teammate did almost all of the scoring this week which gave me lots of time to play games for actual fun. This mainly included Dead by Daylight which I would absolutely recommend. I also played Korgan and Slayaway Camp which were not the worst things in the world, especially if you like easy gamerscore.

3) Red Dead is all the rage. What are your thoughts about them working in a battle royale mode?
Inferno118: I actually hadn't even heard of this so I just searched it up. Anyways considering the massive explosion that is Pubg and Fortnite, I think battle royale is a smart business move. I feel that most gamers enjoy the whole last man standing aspect, it adds a huge sense of accomplishment for winning.
Unmet Player: I have always have been interested in battle royal games. I like the concept of being in a game world with 99 other players, and knowing you will lose everything on death. It makes the game very intense when you are fully geared up and in the final few players. I think PUBG and Fortnite are both doing a great job creating the battle royal experience. I don't find it necessary to add it to other game franchises, but it would be interesting if Rockstar could pull it off.

4) Is there any game or genre you won't put on your gamertag?
Inferno118: Hannah Montana, Sesame Street, Dance games, and maybe a few more. After some newfound consideration, I wouldn't put any extreme kids games on my tag. I regret buying open season and cloudy with a chance of meatballs now that I've really seen what type of game I'm playing, but what else did I expect...
Unmet Player: Any game with unobtainables I will always avoid. I also don't put games on my tag that will take a ridiculous amount of time, specifically MMOs, for example Elite: Dangerous and Elder Scrolls: Online, but I think I have already made a huge mistake by putting Sea of Thieves on my tag.

5) Have you set any gaming goals for yourself this year? If so, what are they?
Inferno118: 500k by end of the year. Considering the fact that Im barely even at 400k now, it's a long shot. I think i can reach 470k though. If this new job over summer takes a lot of my time away, I might have to trash that goal.
Unmet Player: My main goal this year is to just score as much as possible, but I am also trying to clean up my tag a bit. Right now my goal is to hit 700,000 gamerscore, which I should be able to easily accomplish at this point. I am also currently cleaning up some of the Gears of War games on my tag.

6) What would you say is your hardest (most challenging) game completion?
Inferno118: Hmmmm maybe Kalimba? I take a lot of pride in almost having the cod series completed, which only 6 or so people have done. Still working on a few of em. Honestly it's a toss up for hardest individual game, but the discussion would definitely involve Kalimba, 10 second ninja, and Outlast1/2.
Unmet Player: I haven't done anything too difficult at this point, but Dead by Daylight and some of the Call of Duty games were somewhat difficult.

7) What achievement would you say you had the most fun unlocking?
Inferno118:
OutlastENERGISERThe ENERGISER achievement in Outlast worth 1223 pointsFinish the game in Insane Mode without reloading camera batteries
Off the top of my head, this is my most memorable 'journey' for an achievement. The Halo vidmasters are up there as well, albeit a bit of rage here and there.
Unmet Player: I can't just decide on one achievement. Games I actually enjoy are the ones I will have the most fun unlocking achievements. These include Dead by Daylight, Need for Speed Rivals, Arkham Asylum, Viva Pinata, Dark Souls, and Dead Space 2. Usually I have lots of fun doing regional or platform stacks of my favorite games which include all of the games I just mentioned with the exception of Dead by Daylight.

8) Do you prefer physical or digital games? Each have their benefits.
Inferno118: Digital. I have 700 games installed on the one. Recently I started buying physical 360 games, I've doubled my collection in the last 4 months. I prefer digital because of the current state of physicals being a hassle. They are usually more expensive since I buy all my games in sales. Also my disc reader is effed up so that doesn't help.
Unmet Player: I prefer physical games. Most retailers will offer physical games at a cheaper price, I like to have a physical collection of my games, and you can resell the games you no longer play.

9) Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Inferno118: Good luck to everyone who is still in! If you're still in at this point it's something to be proud of.
Unmet Player: Nothing much to add. Thanks to the TA staff for organizing the event, and thanks to the other teams for always pushing me to score as much as I possibly can. I have seen some really tough competition so far this year and I plan to try to keep going as long as I can.

PermalinkGTASC 2018 - Period 17
Hello folks. Its a sad day as my team was one of those that dropped below elimination this morning. I was up late helping a friend work on an achievement in Paladins. although its advertised as lower, I assure you that its triple XP (210% actually) if you party up. Might as well get some work in on The Insane in Paladins: Champions of the Realm if you haven't already. With the boosted XP, it takes very little effort to crank through those levels. You do have to be in an in-game party but the boost does work in Training matches (humans and bots V bots) which I'd recommend if you want to have better than a 50% shot at winning the game. There are some very good players that you'll find in Siege and TDM public matches. You may find me in there having fun now that I'm free of that XP grind. wink

The Solo side has also seen its share of scoring periods that can be called outliers as seen in the chart below. Bonuses definitely have an impact on the scoring output. I can't credit the first bump to a bonus - that was the period the Team side had 'INFECTED' which didn't ask for much score-wise so much as specific achievements. That huge jump on Period 8 however... that is totally the fault of the bonus for the Solo side. That period they had 'Dig Deeper' which asked them to score 3,000GS each. As you can tell, it was pretty popular. The next Solo bonus also caused a bit of a bump. That period they had 'Show Me That Killer Instinct' which wanted 100 achievements. The plus side was they could be of any value so I'm sure games like TurnOn Achievements featured well. There are 2 significant drops as well. Both of those seem to line up with harder/less popular bonuses. The first dip correlates with the Team Bonus 'Cohesion' which had both members end with the same having earned the same amount of Gamerscore and achievements. The other is the period we just finished which was also a Team bonus. This one asked for 20 'Main Storyline' flagged achievements from each teammate. Both didn't require mad scoring so its interesting to see how much the scoring dipped those periods. Blue is Gamerscore and Red is TrueAchievement Score

How are you handling this month's game? I wish I could be there with you but this is one of the 2 options I didn't own. Hopefully you are finding your time with Alice enjoyable. If you haven't already, join in the discussion using the link above.

  • BONUS RECAP:
This period the bonus was a Team one. It asked the same of each team member. They needed to unlock 20 achievements each - but not any 20 achievements... no that would be too simple. These 20 achievements have to be flagged 'Main Storyline' so hopefully they chose good stories to experience this period.

Here's a list of 118 teams that completed the requirements of the Tell Me a Story bonus which asked both members to unlock at least 20 achievements flagged 'Main Storyline' while online of course.

These will be applied shortly.
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Kudos to these 7 teams that fulfilled the requirements but fell short of the elimination line.
Safety nets were awarded to the following 2 teams for completing their first bonus.
The Member Berries
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlej....

This period the bonus up for grabs is Raise the Bar which is simple in nature that is asks the Solo side to end the period scoring at least 5,000TA. This about 2K more than is required to survive elimination when compared to what was needed this period.

No winners this period.

  • OVERACHIEVER INTERVIEW:
We've got one member of The Boxheads with us as well as the Individual Overachiever here today to answer a few questions posed them around the campfire.
1) What pushed you to 1st place?
Inferno118: As soon as I saw the weeks bonus, I knew that there were going to be some high scores at the top of the leaderboards. I decided it was a good time to test myself. After seeing Unmet Player and Greatpotbandito scoring a crap ton of points, it gave me motivation to go as hard as I could. Also I wanted to get clout and destroy my ratio splurge a lot of easy gamerscore and finish off my visual novels so I could finally sell em! I put them all up on the trading thread headspin (Yes I just used this blog for self promotion)
PlacidAtaxia: We didn't start off the week intending to go for first, but my teammate GreatPotBandito had recently acquired an Xbox One and was putting up enough points to where it seemed like a realistic endeavor to attempt. It wasn't long before we realized that our ascent to the top was going to take a substantial effort, especially when 100% or GTFO was clearly attempting to go for it in back to back weeks. We became resolute that we weren't going to let them have it without a fight, and so we a fight we gave them. Figurative blood was shed to say the least, and it turned into a punch for punch, blow for blow, 15 rounds of madness. In the end it came down to wire but someone had to come in second and fortunately time around that happened to be them and not us. I'll give them their due, they threw as many easy completions as they could at us, and it likely would've worked had we not followed suite. Honestly that is my biggest gripe about this tournament, in that it became a "how much money are you willing to throw at it for easy Gamerscore" rather than the meaning behind this site "Just How Good Are You?" In the future I'd much rather compete in a tourney like that and see how well we could do because that's where Bandito and I excel and take the most pride in our gaming prowess. All that said it still felt good to prevail this week especially without having spent a fraction of what our competitors spent financially.

2) Did you place anything you'd recommend?
Inferno118: Well unless you like little japanese school girls and datings sims, the majority of the games were garbage... but I did find a few games that weren't that bad. Tembo is a cool little platformer game made by the same people that made pokemon. It was an above average indie game for the most part that the general consensus can enjoy. Valley was also a pretty amazing game for what its worth. It's technically classified as a walking sim, but it's more of a fast paced adventure kind of game with awesome graphics. Hugely underrated and it has an inflated ratio to boot! What Remains of Edith Finch and Oxenfree were also an experience, but I'm sure everybody has heard about them. More importantly, I have some games for everybody to avoid! Avoid the game Your Toy at all costs. It is not worth the gamerscore. I don't want to get into a rant, so just avoid that broken game no matter what.
PlacidAtaxia: Not entirely sure what the question is asking, but if its games we played this week, I'd recommend Super Lucky's Tales and Bard's Gold, those were probably the highlights for me personally, but I'm a avid fan of the Platforming genre and so there is a bias there.

3) If you could enter any game world, which one would you chose?
Inferno118: Pokemon. My favorite game of all time is Pokemon Emerald. To live in a place that produces that kind of nostalgia, music, fantasy elements, etc, sounds like a perfect world simulation lol. I used to imagine as a kid what it would be like to live in a world like that, and it still hits a string with me.
PlacidAtaxia: I'd definitely hang my hat in Stardew Valley, or if I was feeling bold I'd go tip toe around in Bioshock's Rapture. I'd also go kick it in Nuevo Paraiso from Red Dead, or Vice City. This list could go on and on really. I just hope wherever I went I wouldn't end up having to search around for collectibles for hours, but it always seems to come with the territory.

4) Do you have any hobbies outside of gaming?
Inferno118: Not many. There are some things i'm passionate about such as rap music and anything that provides a challenge. I'm pretty all around decent skill wise at the majority of things, but my competitive nature consumes me. I just focus on school, friends, work, gaming, and bettering myself currently.
PlacidAtaxia: I'm an Actor/Writer/Artist. Anyone who wanted to see my acting work could check me out on the former NBC show Siberia, I was one of the leads. The show is a Sci-Fi Drama about a Survivor type reality show that goes horribly wrong and the contestants have to survive for real with the threat of unknown creatures seemingly hunting them. I'm also currently writing my first novel, a suspense thriller involving child abduction and religous fanatics. I hope to have it finished soon, but obviously I had to take a brief hiatus from writing it in order to secure this #1 spot for the week.

5) What achievement are you the proudest of unlocking?
Inferno118: I honestly can't pick a single achievement that I'm more proud of than the rest. If I were to pick from a handful, it would include:
Call of Duty: Black Ops IIIPersonal DecoratorThe Personal Decorator achievement in Call of Duty: Black Ops III worth 1031 pointsEarn all Decorations.
Outlast 2MessiahThe Messiah achievement in Outlast 2 worth 1220 pointsFinish the game in Insane Mode without reloading the camera battery
KalimbaPerfect Spiritual HarmonyThe Perfect Spiritual Harmony achievement in Kalimba worth 718 pointsGet a gold totem in every level. Finish Shorthanded, Old Skool, and Puma Mode.
10 Second Ninja XWoooooooooah - livin' on a prayerThe Woooooooooah - livin' on a prayer achievement in 10 Second Ninja X worth 1351 pointsEarn 300 stars & X rank all marathon modes
OutlastENERGISERThe ENERGISER achievement in Outlast worth 1223 pointsFinish the game in Insane Mode without reloading camera batteries

PlacidAtaxia: This is hard to answer as there are many. I'll say I'm probably both proud of having both Rocksmith games complete, there arent many that can say that, and I never played quitar before getting those games. They took a substantial effort to complete. As for individual chieves. The first one I was ever super stoked about was: Survived 1,000,000 from Geometry Wars. Others I hold in very high regard are: Doctor of Peggle Arts from Peggle, I'm a Golden God from Super Meat Boy, Indigestable from Runbow, Goldx50 from Mega Man Legacy Collection.

6) Is there any future release you are looking forward to?
Inferno118: Agony! I hope it doesn't flop. My favorite genre is horror games, specifically "chase" ones like RE7 and Outlast. It looks to be pretty amazing, I'll try to be the first to complete it if finals don't get in the way.
PlacidAtaxia: Red Dead Redemption2, Crackdown 3, Crash Bandicoot Insane Trilogy to name a few. My dream is that A Final Fantasy Anniversary collection eventually comes to fruition on XBOX. I can guarantee that you would see my teammate and I racing furiously through that monster collection to make the top 10 on this site.

7) Do you use any of the games for rent services like EA Access or Game Pass? What are your thoughts?
Inferno118: My gamesharing partner has game pass, and I have EA access. If sport games are your thing, then EA access is definitely a solid buy. I honestly love game pass. A great move on microsofts part.
PlacidAtaxia: We use GamePass for the tournament. Its been very useful.

8) Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Inferno118: Just a thanks to Planting for the work he puts in despite all the negativity people unfortunately conjure up whenever they don't agree with something. Also for you guys on the team side, keep an eye on each team, even the ones you may not expect. I fee that teams like roast house team has been flying a bit under the radar. Good luck to everyone
PlacidAtaxia: I'd like to thank Planting and anyone else involved for setting up these tournaments. They always keep getting achievements exciting and fresh. I look forward to the continued evolution and improvements each year, like I stated previously my ultimate hope is that it becomes more based on skill rather than financial status. My hopes are also that it eventually gets the exposure it deserves out in the gaming world, but no matter what its a blast to do and I've enjoyed making friends and rivals along the way. Cheers!

PermalinkGTASC 2018 - Period 16
Hello and welcome to another recap of the Great TrueAchievements Score Challenge. What a flurry Wednesdays have become with insane scoring jumps. The elimination line typically jumps over 2,000TA in the final hours of the period. Hopefully you aren't caught out by it as it rolls by. Even though the events are separate - you can certainly feel when there's a scoring bonus up for grabs. Team scoring certainly felt a bump thanks to Overlords being the bonus on the individual side. Even though there's progressively less teams, scores don't always show that. Here's GS and TA per period for the Team side:

Let's come back to the GTASC stats in a bit though - here's a few other tidbits that gamers may find interesting.

  • BONUS RECAP:
The Individual side had a bonus and my, you could see what it did come Wednesday. Overlords was the name and ending in the top 25% of the non-eliminated members was the game. Here are the contestants that managed to stay on top.

No winners this period.

  • OVERACHIEVER INTERVIEW:
Its time for our weekly fireside chat. 100% or GTFO took the Team side by storm but unfortunately neither were able to reply to the questions. However, the Individual Overachiever was able to sit down for a few.
1) What pushed you to 1st place last period?
Dean Helsley: I've come to realize that I'm nowhere near as serious a contender as some other players. While I will try to stay in as long as I can, I don't see making it to the end. I thought it would be fun to try to finish first this week, even though I knew I'd be burning off some easy points that I could use down the road.

2) Did you play anything you'd recommend?
Dean Helsley: Toby: The Secret Mine was fun and was challenging in parts. Among the Sleep was unique and had a surprising and disturbing ending.

3) What game would you say defines this console generation? What about it makes it stand above the rest?
Dean Helsley: I've played a number of games this gen that were a cut above the rest, but I would have to say GTA V based on the phenomenal financial success. Even though I never got sucked into the online component, I recognize that they crafted an engaging and ongoing virtual world that people have spent billions on.

4) Do you listen to the game soundtrack when playing or do you listen to music? If your own music, any recommendations?
Dean Helsley: I always stick with a game's soundtrack.

5) What achievement are you most proud of earning?
Dean Helsley: I hate to bring GTA V up again (I haven't played it since Feb 2015), but getting the 100% felt like a huge accomplishment. Doing the cult "missions" threatened to drain all the good will it had earned with me, but I persevered and it was very satisfying when it popped.

6) What originally brought you to TrueAchievements?
Dean Helsley: It's been quite a few years now, but if I remember correctly, I would see the occasional link to guides on xboxachievements.com forum messages. That got me checking it out and it didn't take long for me to decide this was my first place to check for guides, news, etc.

7) Is there a game you play for fun without a care for achievements?
Dean Helsley: I have a handful of games that I've played multiple times just because they were so damn good. Dishonored is probably my favorite.

8) What is your earliest gaming memory?
Dean Helsley: I remember playing Pong. I was born in 1965, so I think I was 10 or 11 when my dad bought one for us.

9) Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Dean Helsley: I love that you guys are continually doing things to foster a community of like minded, passionate gamers.

PermalinkGTASC 2018 - Period 15
Hi ho and aweigh we go! Here's hoping you are ready for some juicy statistics and are thirsty for some achievement grog.

Personally - I'm tired after a late night Neverwinter play session. The new patch is upon us and everything you had that was great is now practically worthless. Enjoy! That has got to be the one game trope that annoys me the most. Destiny handles it worse if you ask me considering you get locked out of content when a new patch drops - but Destiny isn't the time sink Neverwinter is. At least there's no need to pray to RNGeesus - there's no ring achievement! If you haven't yet (or can't as you are not ready...) head to Chult. There's lions, tigers and bears. Oh, my! in Neverwinter

This voyage is nearly complete. The seas started choppy but have now become smooth sailing. If you haven't already, there's still time to grab your pirate buddies and climb aboard your vessel. Look out for the Kraken and don't end up in Davey Jones' Locker!

39,875 pirates are sailing the sea with 16,364 having started it this month. No pirate has mastered this journey. 345,147 buckles have been swashed totaling 3,737,480 gamerscore which is worth 8,223,569 TA score.

  • BONUS RECAP:

Teamwork was key last period. 52 Teams won Cohesion which required teammates to end with the same amount of achievements and gamerscore earned in the period. Here's who was lucky enough to end the period in lock-step with their partner:
Honorable mention to Argonian Fetish Club for ending the period having earned the bonus but not making it over the elimination... and a shout out to likely the only other Vermonter in the contest.

No Safety benches were handed out. These are all veteran bonus winners.

Watty8883 and MLGMakun each earned a Leg Up pack for World of Tanks for their spelling prowess.

  • OVERACHIEVER INTERVIEW:

Its that time when we sit down with the folks that stormed the leaderboard in Period 14. The Solo Overachiever wasn't able to reply but we do have both members of Dilly Dilly with us.
1) What pushed you to 1st place this period?
Mr Granstaff: Grit. Determination. A substantial amount of testicular fortitude. Nah, it was peer pressure -- mostly, lol. A few of our peers noticed that first place was wide open and my partner felt like we had a real shot as the cut off was approaching, so he threatened my life we went for it. Even decided on double-dipping with that other badge for getting the most achievements in a period too! We had scored aplenty to snag our solo bonus and since we were already high up there in the ranks naturally, figured we might as well flex our bodacious, veiny muscles for all to witness and snag some extra firepower for later on in the contest when the points matter.
Triple Triad777: We both needed 7.5K TA for the solo bonus, so once we got that, we figured we might as well put in a little more effort to snag a few extra bonuses on the team side. Or in my case, Granstaff threatened me and told me I needed to put more points up wink

2) Did you play anything you'd recommend?
Mr Granstaff: Man, I played so many quality titles last period, coincidentally. Let's start off with FRU. That's got to be one of the best Kinect titles I've played and that's saying something coming from me, obviously. Another high quality Kinect title I dabbled in was The Gunstringer. It was made by Twisted Pixel, so you know that game was going to be amazing.

I also played Tacoma to completion as well as iO The Game (WP) - an excellent game for the phone, by the way. And, should you play Tacoma, make sure you don't rush it with a guide. Play through it normally, enjoy all of the material, conversations and things like that. You'll appreciate the game more.

Even dabbled in Halo MCC and HITMAN some, games I recommend as well. And, just let me tell you, HITMAN looks glorious in HDR.
Triple Triad777: I did finish up Far Cry 5, definitely a game worth every penny. Its absolutely amazing, so much to do in the game. Other than that, some lackluster JP novels...I'm sure they had an ok story, just doesn't help that I have no clue what they are saying or doing.

3) Do you ever use game chat to connect with the Kinect users in lobby?
Mr Granstaff: Occasionally on the One since it's more tolerable than the previous 360 model. If I'm in the middle of something -- like working out -- and don't feel like slapping on the headset, I'll join in and chat with the Kinect.
Triple Triad777: Nah I prefer my headset. If I was at home, my girlfriend would walk in and start talking to the people in the party. And my headset is easy to turn on and off so if I need to take a phone call or something I can turn off the chat quickly unlike the Kinect which requires more work.

4) Microsoft said all games that are enhanced for Xbox One X will run on all Xbox consoles. Given the extra power the X1 has, how much longer do you think Microsoft will stick by that policy?
Mr Granstaff: I never realized that, so that's cool. Then again, I tend to not fully trust anything Microsoft states. However, I personally own a Xbox One X and have noticed that some games load so much faster and obviously looks way more awesome compared to my vanilla console.
Triple Triad777: I don't have a X1X....just sticking with my day one xbox one until it bites the dust.

5) What are your thoughts on preordering games?
Mr Granstaff: Ask me something else, lol. The last time I preordered a game was for Halo 3. You do the math on that one.

I mean, if preordering games is your thing, be my guest. It seems like I have been playing catch-up for the past three years with my backlog, so I think it would be silly of me to preorder anything I'm not going to properly play right away.
Triple Triad777: I think its a great idea. I got a Far Cry 5 mug when I preordered the game...for free! I think if you do it physically it can have some benefits, but if you do it digitally, you can download the game before it is released in order to begin playing it as soon as it comes out. Its a mixed bag, but I'm just going to continue drinking my tea out of my awesome mug.

6) What are the origins of your gamertag?
Mr Granstaff: Nothing special, truth be told. It's just my last name, which could be viewed as possibly having some interesting history behind it. Now, that's assuming the stories that were told to me were all true, of course. The short version is that the name comes from Swedish descent and we had changed it at one point to a variation of Granstaff to blend in with the Germans -- they were attacking everyone at the time, so in an effort to not get killed off, we opted to trick them with the name change. This is how I'm interpreting the stories. Apparently later on, Sweden eventually made a deal with the Germans, but it was all for nothing in the end. Germans still killed us off with explosives or something. That's probably not the best story you've read today, so sue me. I'm not a history buff. Go look it up on Google.
Triple Triad777: It sounded cool. I don't really know, just thought of it on the fly. I wanted to do "Triple Threat Triad777", but there is the darn 15 character limit.

7) Can you describe (or include pics of) your gaming setup?
Mr Granstaff: Sure. I can include pics. The following pictures will show my game collection, gaming chair, my PC with one of my dogs taking my spot, as usual - lol. There's also a "bar" with an assortment of liquors that I have somehow accumulated over the years. I'm not even a heavy drinker either!
External image

External image

Additionally, the other pictures will show my 65" LG smart TV with floating shelves underneath - including a Xbox One X, vanilla Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles. There are two external HDs present as well as two Kinect devices and a Vision Cam -- the grand daddy of Kinect, lol. Got a decent A/V receiver with a sub woofer that causes the house the rattle. I'm serious.

You might also notice my security camera setup -- DVR and monitor, with my padded workout mat (you try planking on that unforgiving tile), and a basketball - it actually came with this NBA Baller Beats Kinect game that I should probably start one of these days. Just worried that I'm liable to break something. While my hands should be registered as deadly weapons, dribbling a basketball with them might be laughable.
External image

Off to the side, I have this entertainment stand that I use as my alternate gaming monitor made by Gaems. Sometimes, I take that with me for traveling. On occasion, I have taken it to work too. It works great for double boxing and have found that some games tend to be played better on a smaller screen to avoid eye strain/fatigue, like, Geometry Wars.

I also have a backup Xbox 360 console and a JP console with another Kinect. There's also a gun there that was used for a Kinect Cabela game - fun times. And, while the cable management and dust cleaning leaves something to be desired at the moment, the set up works well for me and gives me ample room to flail my arms around.
Triple Triad777: I don't know how to add pictures, but I can describe it. I have a 50", my one on top of my dresser, and my 360 and JP box on the floor. Occiasionally I bring out my PAL box, but haven't in a while. I have a booklet of 300 games that has most of my 360 games, and a giant box full of the rest. Speaking of which, I am going to have a massive sale of games come the beginning of May, so all of you guys stay tuned for a list of games (might even have some to give away for free!) (if you buy some).

8) Is there any game that you feel deserves a sequel (or an addition to its series)? What would you focus its story on?
Mr Granstaff: I don't know! What kind of question is this? Do you not want people to read your blog with these cookie cutter questions or something? Ask more about me and my partner -- more questions directed towards me though. I don't think people could handle all of that combined awesomeness at once.

Nah. Just kidding. Nothing comes to mind at the moment. I have always been a big fan of the Doom and Wolfenstein series, so wouldn't mind more games to come out in an effort to extend their stories.
Triple Triad777: If I've said it once, I've said it a million times...Sunset Overdrive 2. The game was an absolute blast, I picked it up with GWG, and haven't had so much fun in a long time! I think they could maybe make a game on the OD got leaked out of the area and now is all over the world. Throw in a few mutated OD, some awesome new guns, and it would be a day one order from me!

9) Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Mr Granstaff: It's nice to be back into this gaming contest. Guess I went on a two year hiatus, but embracing the brilliance that is GTASC once again. I always have a great time snagging the bonuses in particular. I'm also really looking forward to the change in format with TA difference next year. I feel this change will help this contest reflect skill more than who wants to empty their wallets. That's just me though.

That said, welcome to the Dilly Dilly era! toast
Triple Triad777: Dilly today, Dilly tomorrow, Dilly everyday! We will be back before you know it!

PermalinkGTASC 2018 - Period 14
Hello and welcome to the GTASC recap for Period 14 as well as a peek at what's happening on TA and of course - a check on the available Games with Gold. Hopefully where you are its not the Winter that never ends. Mid-April and we're still getting snow here in Vermont. Although, I do have more motivation to work on Kinect games when its cooler in here...

  • GAMES WITH GOLD:

Available through April 30th
Xbox One: The Witness
Xbox 360: Dead Space 2

Available through May 15th
Xbox One: Assassin's Creed Syndicate

The seas are a little less choppy now that the initial burst of play has died down. Achievements seem to be working better than they were before. The question remains... will you be a Pirate Legend? Can you muster the strength to sail your crew to victory thousands of times over? Only the most dedicated Pirate can truly attack this achievement list.

37,005 pirates are sailing the sea with 14,521 having started it this month. No pirate has mastered this journey. 299,044 buckels have been swashed totaling 3,227,500 gamerscore which is worth 7,134,643 TA score.

  • OVERACHIEVER INTERVIEW:

Hello and welcome to the sit down portion of this recap. If you aren't already - please take your seats. Actually - we've got the Solo Overachiever as well as half of Our top guys couldnt make it with us. Here's what they had to say when queried about their gaming selves.
1) What pushed you to 1st place?
LausDomini: I wanted to see how much Gamerscore I could unlock in 24 hours. I put over 1000 hours into preparing for the day for nearly a year. I was hoping for 60K but ended up exceeding expectations and breaking 69K Gamerscore and 95K TA. Here is the recap.
TheMaize: we realised the day before cutoff that we were #3 and the top hadnt been scoring much, so decided we could just aswell go for it.

2) Did you play anything you'd recommend?
LausDomini: I played well over 150 games and I have to say that most of them are throwaway titles. Like how is Asemblance even a game? It is the middle 10% of some other game. The games I would recommend are Thomas Was Alone, Hue, Never Alone, Oxenfree, Brothers, Castle Invasion, Tembo, Song of the Deep, Firewatch, Action Henk, In Between, The Turing Test, The Swapper, The Fall, and Costume Quest 2.
TheMaize: I started and finished Tera in the period. Its an awesome game. And one of the few MMO's you dont need 100s of hours for.

3) Which achievement you've earned did you have the most fun unlocking?
LausDomini: I will pick
Halo: ReachA Monument to All Your SinsThe A Monument to All Your Sins achievement in Halo: Reach worth 291 pointsComplete each Campaign Mission on Legendary - alone.
Month after month of playing nothing but indie titles with their pixelated graphics and low-budget design was taking a toll on me and it was a breath of fresh air to get to spend a couple weeks with a AAA title.
TheMaize: Any of the Tera achievements

4) Conversely, which achievement do you regret going after?
LausDomini: I regret going after
FreezeMETHE FREEZENATOR!The THE FREEZENATOR! achievement in FreezeME worth 307 pointsGet all the previous achievements
I could have gained closer to 70K if I immediately switched over to a game like ACA NEOGEO OVER TOP (W10) instead of spending fifteen minutes trying to get the glitchy achievement to unlock.
TheMaize: there is none that i regret going for...but farming worldbosses in Tera was kind of a drag. Especially since i didnt spend money on the game, so i couldnt "fasttravel"

5) Do you have any hobbies outside of gaming?
LausDomini: I have four children ten and under, and a fifth on the way. So I guess my other hobby is making babies.
TheMaize: Travelling and food, i guess...two interests that i luckily share with my wife. We travel abroad at least 5 times a year.

6) Is there a game you still play for fun (dare I say that) after unlocking all achievements in it?
LausDomini: I am totally planning on sitting down with my kids and playing Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey. Mario 64 is my all-time favorite game so as soon as I can pull myself away from achievement hunting I will dive into those games.
TheMaize: Warframe....amazing game (i still need 2 more achievements in it at this point though. But im not gunning for them, im just waiting for them to unlock from natural progression) but even when i will unlock those, i will still occasionally play it.
I have been playing Tera after finishing it also. But its not on the same level. You run out of stuff to do in the endgame pretty fast.

7) Do you have any gaming goals for this year?
LausDomini: I used to have a completion percentage in the low 90s which is now in the low 80s so I set a goal to get it back to 90%. But mostly that goal is there to dissuade me from buying more games.
TheMaize: i wanna reach a million TA this year, and 500 games completed...and then i have a few smaller completiongoals.

8) Is there anything else you'd like to add?
LausDomini: Two things. The first will be gaming related and the second will just be some words of wisdom. I wonder if there is interest out there for a PGA golf style Gamerscore competition or league. For instance you could have weekly TA score tournaments but also some "majors" that are more valuable and perhaps variable in length or rules. The site could offer a badge based on which tier of the league you are in or based on your ranking points. This would allow members of the site to become winners and champions with one good day or weekend, as a counterbalance to the GTASC which rewards many months of consistent play.

Now for the wisdom. I have learned in life that there are two kinds of people. Those who live for themselves and those who live for others. We are all born into this world in the former group, and the saints and heroes among us cross over to the latter. Choose to be a hero. Put down the controller from time to time and offer to help your mother/father/girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse/child with a task or just spend time together. You will be a happier person.
TheMaize: we are still waiting for our badges.
