PermalinkGTASC 2019: Period 10 (Three for Victory)
Hello ladies and gentlemen, lads and lassies. Its time to take a peek at how the contest is shaping up and what that means for you. Although there was some separation between the 2 events showing in the top games, this period we'll see that AAA releases as well as the new easy games still hold the attention of contestants - even though the former tends to lead to massive decay and the latter isn't honestly worth the effort for the return in value.

As some noted, the Solo side in particular was nowhere near as competitive this period thanks to the Community Challenge faithful moving onto other projects. With the drop so significant on the Solo side its interesting to note that the Team elimination continued its climb last period.

  • BONUS RECAP:

Last period was a Team bonus which set folks to unlocking achievements with either the number '3' or the word 'three' anywhere at all in its name. As long as every member in your team was able to unlock at least one achievement online and timestamped within the timeframe of Period 9, you will be granted the bonus.

The 141 surviving winners of the 'Seeing Threes' bonus are:
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

We also had 4 teams complete the challenge but unfortunately fell to the rising tide of elimination.:
These will be applied soon.

This period we move back to a Solo bonus. One that requires some work, planning and of course, plentiful opportunities to woot when you ding. Odd you may say... but that's only until you notice the bonus is Ding, Level Up! which asks everyone to unlock at least 15 achievements flagged with 'Level'. As with any bonus that focuses on flagging or genres, please be aware that the Game Info team may change these without warning. Either check at the end of the period to ensure you still have the 15 needed or perhaps unlock an extra one or two just to be sure.

Catmajik101 found a hoard of gold and exchanged it for a Golden Accessory Box in Black Desert Online.

  • OVERACHIEVER INTERVIEW:

This week by the campfire we've got 2 members of Lord InToX Veteran as well as the Solo Chart-topper last period - ZaeloRae.
1) What pushed you to 1st place last period?
inToX Shredz: Trying to keep the ratio high and saw we were close to the top, so we went for that too.
True Veteran: I think it was Wreckfest not dropping in TA sort of pushed us. But Shredz did most of the work to be honest.
ZaeloRae: In all honesty, I only started out getting enough to reach the 25% bonus for the period. Itzz Sh0wt1m3 & BulletLukey had set up a Minecraft Realm to get achievements, so I decided to get as many as I could on the XBOX One version and Switch version. When I stopped, I was at 2nd position, about 600 points behind 1st. I was really surprised when I had 1st position the next morning. :D

2) Did you play anything you'd recommend?
inToX Shredz: Brawlout isn’t bad. It’s like a less good smash bros clone but it’s on Xbox.
True Veteran: I would highly recommend Remnant. Easily my Game of the year this year so far.
ZaeloRae: From this period, I recommend Thimbleweed Park if you like old style point and click adventure games. And, of course, Minecraft for casual play and for easy achievements.
From earlier periods, I recommend Westerado. It gave me a few moments of frustration, but I think it's worth giving it a try.

3) What is the craziest thing you've done for the sake of achievements?
inToX Shredz: Done the same repetitive thing for days at a time.
True Veteran: Nothing too crazy, Maybe wake up at 1am to do a boosting session for 4 hours for the "thru the pack" achievement on Forza then go to work at 6am.
ZaeloRae: Not crazy, but I did buy the LEGO Batman (JP) with the intention to buy a Japanese Xbox 360 to play it. Luckily, LEGO BATMAN was made backwards compatible and the JP disc worked on my XBOX ONE. Saved me some hassle. :P

4) What's your favorite boss battle? Did you choose it because it was such a great accomplishment, because it was a workout, because you loved the dialogue...?
inToX Shredz: The hand of the king battle in dead cells, mainly for accomplishment but it’s also one of my favourite games.
True Veteran: Darlene from Dead Rising 3. Such a hilarious boss fight.
ZaeloRae: I really enjoyed most of the boss battles in Cuphead, especially the Devil and King Dice. I'm not the most skilled at games, so Cuphead was tough for me. I was really happy when I defeated the Devil in a clutch moment.

5) What game(s) are you currently playing? Do you have any thoughts on them?
inToX Shredz: I have wwz on the grind but nothing else until gears 5.
True Veteran: I'm currently playing Final Fantasy VIII, Absolutely love the game reliving my childhood. Though i dislike them adding the cheats in the game.
ZaeloRae: I just started One Piece: World Seeker, although I know it won't be as good as the manga/anime, I'm expecting to enjoy the story.
I've also been going through and getting the gold medals in Kyub. I know the achievement is glitched, but I'm going to do it anyway. I really like this puzzle game.

6) Do you own any other consoles besides Xbox 360/Xbox One?
inToX Shredz: I’ve got a switch for smash bros.
True Veteran: I own a Switch and a PS4, My partner uses the switch and i barely touch my ps.
ZaeloRae: I do own a Switch. I plan to play the Link's Awakening remake when that comes out later this month. Really excited for that.

7) Why did you chose the gamerpic you use?
inToX Shredz: To troll my mates one night and I haven’t changed it since.
True Veteran: It's 2B from Nier: Automata. Just really connected to her as a character wink
ZaeloRae: The gamerpic on TA was chosen since it gave an impression of "Whoa! Achievements!"
My gamerpic on XBOX ONE has changed to the Godzilla suit. It looks like I stepped in something, so I'm leaning against a building to check my foot.

8) Which video game sidekick would you want at your side in a fight?
inToX Shredz: Probably like Ymir from smite or something.
True Veteran: Claptrap from Borderlands. Enough said.
ZaeloRae: Any Pokemon starter would be cool.

9) Is there one game you'd recommend that you think was overlooked by most of the folks here on TA? What about that game makes it special?
inToX Shredz: Definitely dead cells. It’s just got really fun and addictive gameplay and it’s got a kit building mechanic to it as well which just makes it better. And it’s free on gamepass too now so that’s a plus.
True Veteran: Blood Waves is the 1 that comes to mind, I really enjoyed that game. Just a simple but good horde mode game.
ZaeloRae: I highly recommend The Sun and Moon. It's a really nice and responsive platformer with a neat phasing/gravity mechanic. If you liked OVIVO or thought that game could have been better, I recommend The Sun and Moon. I was really happy when I got the Sun achievement in the game.

10) Is there anything you'd like to add?
inToX Shredz: Yeah, I wouldn’t mind if certain teams got looked at more for having smurfs 😉
True Veteran: Wreckfest rubber banding is horrible.
ZaeloRae: Shout out to Club 138. Hope to see you all in the next Community Challenge. :)

Gotta ask the all important music question once in a while. Any bands you'd suggest we give a listen to or track suggestions?
inToX Shredz: Probably avenged sevenfold if your into that style.
True Veteran: Hail to the King by Avenged Sevenfold. Great song by a great band. Give it a listen.
ZaeloRae: I've had the DuckTales theme stuck in my head for thirty years, so I'm probably not the best one to ask about music suggestions. :P
Thanks for those suggestions ;)

PermalinkGTASC 2019: Period 9 (Community. Challenged.)
Howdy and welcome to yet another voyage through the statistics that make the GTASC what it is. That's right, we'll peek at the top games played, the most unlocked achievements across several categories and of course... chat with some members that topped the leaderboards last period.

The most recent TrueAchievements Community Challenge has just ended. I honestly expected a bit more of a fight at the end today. In the end, the elimination line didn't jump too much in the last 8 hours. The devs have been alerted and we'll hopefully soon see an article noting the winners and hopefully a count of those on their perfect win streak. Stay tuned!

Its a new month and that means a new TA Playlist. This month we're on a journey with The Banner Saga. Join in for some spoiler free (or spoiled if that's your preference!) discussion as we march on!

  • BONUS RECAP:

Last period was a Solo bonus, and it asked the members to end in the top 25% of non-eliminated participants. That means 204 lucky Individuals would go home happier. Looking at the board, I see I should have put up another 100 points to secure my spot. I ended in position 207. redface
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

This period we're looking to see some 'three' action. Since teams are made of 3 members, we're looking to have each of those members unlock an achievement with either the word 'three' or the number '3' anywhere in its name. No, the description doesn't count! If all 3 members unlock their 3 achievement, the team will be one 2,000 point bonus richer.

No winners this period.

  • OVERACHIEVER INTERVIEW:

With us this period are 2 members of StillGamev3 as well as the Solo topper LadyApril75.
1) What pushed you to 1st place last period?
BorrowedMango15: Nothing really, we were just playing games we wanted to play and that we’re on our backlog.
LadyApril75: I have just been doing my best. I honestly didn't expect to get first place in the indiviual. My team and I were trying to make first in team.
LeglessHamster: just wanted it

2) Did you play anything you'd recommend?
BorrowedMango15: Erm, maybe the Lego speed champions dlc for Forza horizon 4. It’s different and overall a good experience.
LadyApril75: Vigor, Warface, and of course the Borderlands series are all good games. I would recommend any of them.
LeglessHamster: realm royale

3) Do you prefer to play a particular genre? What makes you pick one game over another?
BorrowedMango15: Sports. I’m football mad so I’m always playing Fifa.
LadyApril75: I LOVE horror survival. I have played every Resident Evil and Silent Hill on PS1&2. The Suffering is another favorite, along with Dino Crisis.
LeglessHamster: like everything apart from platform fighters

4) What is your favorite game of all time? What about it makes it special?
BorrowedMango15: Again Fifa just because I spend so much time on it
LadyApril75: Favorite game of all time would have to be Dino Crisis. I'm an old school nerd.
LeglessHamster: alan wake storyline

5) How would you describe the way you play games to someone who doesn't play for achievements?
BorrowedMango15: I play through the story and enjoy the cutscenes then after I’ve enjoyed the story and visuals I go through getting any remaining achievements. Not the most efficient way of completing games but I like to take it all in and actually no what’s going on instead of rushing through for gamerscore.
LadyApril75: The feeling I get when i pop achievements is better than anything. My competitive nature in achieveing my gaming goals is one of my greatest aberrations, yet one of my guilty pleasures.
LeglessHamster: just like to get my moneys worth

6) What would you consider your greatest gaming accomplishment?
BorrowedMango15: I don’t really know. Maybe getting all gears of war 4 achievements now onto gears 5 and ready for the grind again.
LadyApril75: My greatest gaming accomplishment? Probably meeting a very special man who has made my life happier, especially when I kick his butt in GS and games.
LeglessHamster: seriously 3.0

7) Which achievement are you most proud of unlocking? What did it take to earn that achievement?
BorrowedMango15: Seriously 4.0. That took some serious time and a lot of horde.
LadyApril75: Gears of War. The friendships I cultivated on that game and the fun adventures my friends and I had...those memories and that completion will warm my heart for years to come.
LeglessHamster: seriously 3.0 alot of time

8) If forced to play only 1 genre for a year, what would you pick and why?
BorrowedMango15: Sports for previously mentioned reason.
LadyApril75: Hmm it would be between Horror Survival or RPGs. I love Horror survival, but RPGs would give me more gaming fun throughout the year.
LeglessHamster: lego

9) There are loads of stats TA keeps track of. Is there anything in particular that you try to improve?
BorrowedMango15: My completion ratio is something I often check I like to keep it above the 90% mark.
LadyApril75: When i first started gaming, i went more for gamerscore than i did completions. Now with server shutdowns and unobtainables, my ratio leaves much to be desired. So, i would say my ratio.
LeglessHamster: completion percentage

10) Is there anything else you'd like to add?
BorrowedMango15: No just good luck to everyone competing. Thanks.
LadyApril75: I'd like to give a shoutout to a few people whose friendships and gaming knowledge helped me become a better gamer.
LordKevin75- Your competitive nature drives people to achieve more and reach their gaming dreams.

Franco 4 127hrs- Thanks for your friendship and gaming advice. And don't worry, I will pass you up next!

And a big shoutout to the best gaming group on discord and TA. The Achievement Alliance! And our wonderful leader Emperor Ell! I highly recommend joining this group.
LeglessHamster: team no sleep suck

PermalinkGTASC 2019: Period 8 (Doin' the Double Dance)
Hello and welcome to the dance hall. Last week we were practicing our square dancing - this week we're practicing our leapfrogging. Between the bonus on offer and the fact we're nearing the end of the survival period attached to the current Community Challenge, scores are peaking nicely. If you were prepared for a nice easy glide into GTASC this year, the community would like to remind you they have other plans. Talk has already pegged the solo elimination at near or above 1,500. Given all the bonuses that have already been used, its clear this period will be one for the books! With the added twist of folks looking to push themselves up the leaderboard to snag an extra 500 point bonus, there will be some seriously crazy scoring happening over the next week. Here's hoping you are able to keep your Community Challenge badge streak alive or earn yourself your first level of it if this is your 1st go at one of the Challenges.

On that note... we do have one on the books but it seems the devs are deep in code right this minute so I can't say for sure when we'll see our next event. If all else fails, there's still the 12 Days of Xmas to look forward to. For those that are unfamiliar with the event that's now turned into a year end challenge for the community - we take the song and reinterpret it with different challenges for the folks to work on. Its available for the entire month of December and doesn't have to be done like the song (aka ChinDocta difficulty - Day 1, Day 2, then Day 1 again, Day 3, then Day 2 and Day 1 again and so on...) but there are certainly a few folks out there that push themselves a bit beyond the requirements smile Here's a link to last year's event for those that are curious as to what kind of tasks may be in the event: Twelve Days of Christmas 2018

Hopefully you have had a chance to play along with the https://www.trueachievements.com/TAPlaylist. We're nearing the end of August but you still have time to participate by jumping into the discussions (there's spoiler free and anything goes discussion threads) or unlocking achievements in Borderlands 2 or Borderlands 2 (Xbox 360). The selection for September has been made and to be honest, it was a shocker for me. I expected it to end up in last place, but no... join in by playing The Banner Saga which is in GamePass if you are in need.

For the chart minded folks here.. Team has overtaken Solo for Gamerscore earned:

  • BONUS RECAP:

Last period the Team was tasked with Twice the TA which as implied in its name, asked teams to end with at least double the TA Score they had earned in the previous period. As the game is TA difference this year instead, some teams found themselves looking at needing 20,000 or more TA to earn this. That wasn't a barrier for the folks competing here though. All told, 67 teams were able to at least double their TA score from Period 7.
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Additionally, 3 teams succeeded in doubling their score but were eliminated this morning.
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

This period the bonus is back to the Individual side and is yet another simple in design but complex to achieve. Coupled with this being the final period for the Community Challenge folk to hang on and the sheer number of bonuses already in play Monday afternoon... this will be a period unlike any early period in GTASC history.

Quartered
End in the top 25% (of the members that are not up for elimination) - so top 204.

Will you be one of those lucky 25%?

CSGeekSquad is off for an epic adventure with none other than Bear Grylls.

  • OVERACHIEVER INTERVIEW:

It was a busy week but I was able to get all 3 members of Alphabet Soup to sit down for a quick meal and some light banter. Here's what they had to say:
1) What pushed you to 1st place last period?
NicoleRenee00: We didn't really have any intentions of going for first until we saw how close we were already. So then we decided to push for it for the sake of the extra bonus. I wasn't expecting to have to dish out over 25K in one week, but there was good competition. I'm still not sure if it was worth it, but we'll see. laugh XxFrAsZeRxX was also able to get first for the individual contest, which was cool.
Noodles Jr: Well Frazser and Nicole both came into the week very strong and were putting numbers up fairly quickly, and we just kind of ended up near the top naturally within a few days. Once we saw how close we were, we decided we'd push for #1, and then we went all out over the weekend. We didn't get any bonuses out of it, but we are getting 50 VonCoins each, so that's pretty cool. Plus it was fun so I'd say it was worth it.
XxFrAsZeRxX: I wasn’t originally ever planning on going for a number one spot. But early in the week we popped some high ratio stuff, we were up high on the boards so it seemed like a golden opportunity to give it a go! In fact for the solo side, I fell behind when I was asleep on the last day. My teammate here Nicole noticed and called me and woke me up so I could take it back, so shoutout to her for that. laugh

2) Did you play anything you'd recommend?
NicoleRenee00: Not much to be honest. We all ended up playing a lot of similar games because we needed the difference. So we ended up with games like Superhot and Minecraft. I mostly worked on Crackdown 3, which was fun in its own way. And I also finished Layers of Fear 2. But besides for those two, I didn't really have time to play anything I would have liked to.
Noodles Jr: I played a handful of widely beloved games (Minecraft, Superhot, etc.), but the only game I started this period that I really enjoyed was Outer Wilds. Z Axis Continuum and Manual Samuel were fun as well, though I had played those previously. Would recommend all of these games, especially to those in the competition. They all come with incredibly easy TA difference.
XxFrAsZeRxX: The biggest one for me was Superhot. Most fun I’ve with a shooter for a while now. It takes a fair amount of practice, or at least for me it did, and it was really fun, and very satisfying to complete. The overall style and humor really struck a chord with me too. Honorable mention to Crackdown 3, because it’s just simple fun.

3) What is the origin of your gamertag?
NicoleRenee00: Not much of a story. I switched accounts when I got my Xbox One, and I wanted to make sure that I wouldn't give myself a gamertag that I would hate in 3 years. So my name was an easy go-to. I don't think I'll ever change it.
Noodles Jr: My dad's gamertag is SG Noodles, and I opted to play off of that. There's also my brother, Noodles III (which makes it sound like he's my son, I know), so "Noodles" is kind of a family tradition at this point. As for where my dad got the name, he originally went by RoundeyeSamurai, but lost a bet and had to change it. He opted to name himself after an - at the time - new Cyanide and Happiness skit, which is also where my gamerpic comes from:

XxFrAsZeRxX: it’s basically just my name with some X’s and a Z added in that my 12 year old self thought looked cool. Been considering changing it on and off for a while now, but could never think of anything I really wanted.

4) What would you say is the statistic you work on most? TA score? ratio? Completion percentage? What drives you to improve in that area?
NicoleRenee00: I started out by working on my ratio, but I think that goal has faded a bit. I sort of realized that, if I wanted to get my ratio to 2.0, then I would have to pass up on a ton of games as well as play quite a few that I didn't want to. On top of that, there's always the argument that ratio isn't equal to difficulty. So now I've decided to work towards my completion percentage instead.
Noodles Jr: I definitely prioritize gamerscore over everything. Something about raising this arbitrary number, I just love it. As for the rest of my statistics, I try to keep them at respectable numbers, so I try to complete most of what I finish, and I'm always working on at least one hard/grindy game, among the easy trash, just to keep my ratio up and to make my tag more interesting.
XxFrAsZeRxX: I’ve always been all over the place. Usually I just play whatever I feel like playing, or knock out multiplayer achievements when I can. This year the focus has been trying to get my completion percentage up. However that’s just slowly getting me back to trying to get my gamerscore up and just trying to enjoy what I do play. That’s due to the fact that worrying about completing everything gets tiring for me. I game because I enjoy it, I don’t want to get all stressed or anxious over it. Boosting and the more repetitive/boring things we Achievement hunters do is actually sort of relaxing for me, but worrying about completion percentage makes me worry about what I “can” and “can’t” start, which I don’t like.

5) What is the craziest thing you've done for the sake of achievements?
NicoleRenee00: I haven't done anything that bad...so far. Though there have been plenty of sleepless nights and rubber bands tied around my controllers. laugh I think the craziest thing so far (which was my own mistake) was replaying every RPG that I had completed on my old account. When I got into achievement hunting, it drove me insane that I didn't have those games on my tag anymore. I think I've played the first Mass Effect title about 12 times through now, even though it was still really fun to do again.
Noodles Jr: Purchasing 5 Xboxes to complete one series, that series being Quake, which ultimately consumed my gaming time for most of two years, was probably the craziest thing I've done for the sake of achievements. If I had to pick one specific achievement though, I'd probably go with the Smoke & Mirrors achievement in Roundabout. Sitting in front of a screen, driving in a perfectly straight line for 8 hours without being able to pause or stop in any way, or take my eyes off the screen, was probably my single biggest "what in the hell am I doing with my life" moment since I started achievement hunting, and it has always stood out to me as one of a small group of achievements that really solidifies my status as a true gamerscore whore.
XxFrAsZeRxX: The one million strums on both stacks of Guitar Hero Live. For those that are unaware, Guitar Hero Live had an achievement for the online-only mode that went down a few months back. My friend OO111111, who happens to live nearby, and I both needed this and we had around a month to get this achievement and the other online achievements done. So we followed the guides, as we always do. In his living room we setup two reciprocating saws on the floor, with little pieces of cardboard on the blades (covered in electrical tape). We put those over two guitar controllers and let them run. I even had to go babysit them while he was at work, for safety and efficiency purposes. And man, was that loud. So 4 million strums between the two of us. It took about a week. After that, I can tell you I’m never doing anything like that again, it was extremely obnoxious for multiple reasons.

6) What is your proudest achievement? Why does it give you such a sense of pride?
NicoleRenee00: Honestly, I'm not too proud of anything yet. I knew immediately when we started writing up these interviews that the boys would put down Quake for theirs. But I have yet to do anything impressive with mine. I suppose I'm a bit proud of completing the Technomancer on extreme, as it was the first time I pushed myself to actually play on a higher difficulty. It sort of motivated me to try and get better at gaming in general.
Noodles Jr: Number One in Quake 4 (both stacks of the game) is my single proudest achievement. I set up a PVR to record the moment it unlocked, and I have the screenshot of it unlocking, framed and on my trophy shelf. As for single-player achievements, my proudest would have to be either Turophile in I Am Bread, or Monopolized in Halo MCC. I honestly can't choose. They both took the same number of days to do and were equally as mentally draining.
XxFrAsZeRxX: This is a tough one. But I would probably have to go with Number One in Quake 4:
Quake 4Number OneThe Number One achievement in Quake 4 worth 274 pointsAchieved the number one rank on the All Gametypes leaderboard.

I have plenty of difficult achievements that I’m proud of, but this one I’m particularly proud of because it’s one I had wanted to unlock since the 360 launched, after I played this game for the first time. Several groups fell through over the years, and I finally I met one of my current teammates: Noodles Jr. We both double boxed it, along with one other person single boxing and finally got it done. Then for whatever reason we decide to torture ourselves yet again and did the German stack of the game.

It may not be the most “difficult” achievement I have done, but I would say it’s one of my proudest, if not the most, due to the time required to do it.

7) What is your favorite in-game weapon?
NicoleRenee00: I love the Fedorov in Battlefield 1. I love the medic class in general. A good friend of mine used to tease me because every time we'd play together, I'd use the same set-up. If I had to choose a second one, it would probably plasma grenades in Halo. I just love grenades in general if I'm being honest.
Noodles Jr: Likely a very uncommon answer, but Mumbo's Wrench in Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts. Mostly for nostalgic reasons (one of my favorite games growing up, everyone hated it but everyone was wrong), but it was also so broken, that it could be abused to fly anywhere and everywhere in the world, just by stacking two objects on top of each other, standing on the top object, and then using the wrench's levitate ability on the bottom object. Used to love doing that to skip parts of the game. Plus you could beat the hell out of people with it.
XxFrAsZeRxX: The energy sword from Halo 2. I know, I know, it’s extremely cheap haha. But due to the nostalgia of playing that game for hours and hours growing up, and the fact that it’s so fun to use, I’d say it’s my favorite. Not to mention the sword flying that can be done with it in the campaign!

My runner ups would be the Dark Matter Gun from Quake 4, and the Chainsaw from DOOM (the new one specifically).

8) What brought you to TrueAchievements originally?
NicoleRenee00: I found myself on the site a few times for achievement solutions, and I always loved the community aspect of it. Eventually, I came across some games that I owned that didn't actually have any solutions, and I joined to do it myself. Which started my interest in writing walkthroughs to begin with. I joined the WT team soon after.
Noodles Jr: I always knew the site existed because my dad was on the site very early, so I knew it through him. I ultimately got bored of gaming because I ran out of things to do, and I never felt like I was accomplishing anything by just playing Halo matches on repeat, but I also couldn't think of any goals to try and strive for, but then I remembered that I have goals essentially assigned to me in the form of achievements. I figured "hey, why the hell not". Totally expected it to be a fad that I got bored of after a month, but here we are, 5 years later.
XxFrAsZeRxX: I’ve been achievement hunting since the 360 came out. I played Condemned: Criminal Origins on my old account back in 2005 and once I heard the “bloop” it was all over. laugh I used to manually track achievements and completions on other sites. But once I saw this site tracked achievements for you AND had an organized gaming session system, I was all in.

9) What kind of gaming library/den do you have? Care to share any pictures?
NicoleRenee00:
External image

All of my games are in a binder, and I only have one TV for my Xbox One and 360. So it's not very impressive. But I do have lots of knick-knacks from video games. A Ciri statue from The Witcher 3 and some Fallout bobble heads. And, of course, lots of video game books!
Noodles Jr: My library is almost exclusively digital. What few physical games I have aren't really worth showing off. I will show my gaming setup though:
External image
It's nothing special. I've got my shelf of Xboxes on the right (my spares are under my bed). Far left TV is my main 360 monitor, far right is my main One monitor. Middle TV is used for both my secondary 360 and my secondary One for dual-boxing. I've dubbed my setup the Assembly Line. I just think it's a cool name.
XxFrAsZeRxX: I have a half of a large room to myself, I’ve got 3 HDTVs, and an old CRT TV for playing Guitar Hero and Rock Band on when I play alone, since playing HD for those games gives a lag, sometimes even with the calibration. It’s also got my musical equipment and books (which isn’t even all featured in the picture), so it’s a bit cluttered, but here’s the pictures.

https://imgur.com/a/T56uCVl

10) Is there anything else you'd like to add?
NicoleRenee00: I'd like to give a quick shout-out to cablameron. He was in first before XxFrAsZeRxX took the lead. Despite losing his spot, he sent a message afterwards out of good sportsmanship. And I'd like to mention Team VonCoin, who stayed pretty close behind us for most of the period. It gets pretty heated during competition time, but I love that there's still people on TA who are willing to put that aside, so I'd like to do the same. And good luck to everyone else as GTASC continues!
Noodles Jr: Last period, we put up 39k TA score, and 25k TA difference in order to claim the number one spot. This week, the bonus is for putting up double the TA score that we put up last period. It's gonna be a grind, but we're going for it, so this week may be one of my highest gamerscore weeks ever, which is fun way to cap off the summer I think.
XxFrAsZeRxX: I don’t have much else to say, so I guess I’ll just say that I like the change to TA difference. It’s made me play some stuff I may not have played otherwise. Also, good luck to everyone in the coming weeks!

11) Gotcha! Cranking it to 11, care to recommend music you'd game to?
NicoleRenee00: I'm mostly into rock and alternative, though I don't usually listen to anything while I'm gaming. I've mostly been listening to Tool, Disturbed, and 10 Years as of late, but there's not much that I won't hum along to in the end.
Noodles Jr: Anyone who knows me well knows exactly which two bands I'm about to recommend; System of a Down and Trivium. If you haven't had the chance to dive into these band's discographies, I would highly recommend, especially if you like metal. I'd personally recommend Mezmerize and The Sin and the Sentence as my favorite albums from them respectively. I listened to both of these while grinding NEOGEOs today and I they're regulars in my gaming music rotation.
XxFrAsZeRxX: Almost anything. Depends on my mood and what game I’m playing. Lately I’ve been going back and forth between an odd assortment of Slipknot, Al Di Meola, and Harley Poe. But I’m also always trying to find more music across almost any genre.

PermalinkGTASC 2019: Period 7 (Cheddar is better)
Howdy everyone and welcome to the cheese filled recap. The period of increased decay seems to be behind us now and we're back to what feels like regular increases again to the elimination requirements. We're getting much closer to the Period for the recent Community Challenge. With the bar reaching 500 difference on the Solo side this period, it will certainly test the resolve of those that are in it only for the challenge. 2 more periods to survive to earn that +1.

  • BONUS RECAP:

The bonus last period was for the Individual side and they were tasked with 'Cheesing It' which required the participants to earn at least 2,000GS during the period. Having already seen the bonus that needed a ending gamerscore total that's divisible by 2,019, this was a walk in the park. No restrictions on scoring to worry about and no stress about going over.

Lots of you love cheese as 586 completed the requirements and survived the period. Here's the long list of winners:
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***
Additionally, the following members reached their goal of 2,000 gamerscore but weren't able to stay afloat long enough to earn the bonus:
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***
These will be awarded shortly.

The bonus this period has moved back to the Team side and its straightforward in design if not how its accomplished. The bonus is Twice the TA which asks teams to 'End the scoring period with at least double the TA score earned during the previous period.' Given some folks really pushed themselves, they will find this one quite the ask. At least its a shared bonus, meaning the team can decide who and how to accomplish the goal if they shoot for it.

PlayUltimate711 can experience life in a sweeter way thanks to some Vermont Maple Syrup.
CSGeekSquad earned the opportunity to wrestle with some rascally Rabbids.

PermalinkGTASC 2019: Period 6 (Stacks upon Stacks)
Howdy and welcome to Period 7 for everyone that survived decaygeddon last night. Not sure what caused such a drastic recalc but many of us noticed some noteworthy drops. Still cruising along at a relatively tame pace, will it be an easy route to Period 10 or will there be a bump to test the will of the Community Challenge streakers? We'll have to see wink

For those interested in charts, here's one that's tracking the progress of TA Score, Gamerscore and TA Difference from period to period.
External image

  • BONUS RECAP:

The bonus last period was 'Efficient' which asked each team member to unlock at least 1 achievement flagged 'Stackable'.

The Stackable bonus of splendiferous Stacking has been calculated and here's the winners!
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***
5 teams completed the requirements but unfortunately didn't survive elimination: To be awarded shortly.

The bonus this period has moved back to the Solo side and its probably one of the simpler ones... especially after getting the divisible by 2019 one already. This period simply earning 2,000GS or more will earn you a 500 point bonus. Earn it however you want but make sure you earn enough TA difference to stay above the elimination line!

No wins this period.

  • OVERACHIEVER INTERVIEW:

Two replies this period and they are from Team No Sleep which have been holding steady in first place each week for some time now.
1) What pushed you to 1st place last period?
ChaosSlayerX187: To prove we're the best.
CLARION 85: I played not that much different games 99 Vidas a bit and Deadbeat Heroes both Games are not very good in my opinion.

2) Did you play anything you'd recommend?
ChaosSlayerX187: Doom 3 I've been playing. It's a lot of fun.
CLARION 85: Farm Together really good Game and it makes fun to play with friends.

3) We subject ourselves to some crazy games for the sake of score. What was your favorite game completion?
ChaosSlayerX187: Getting 16 players for conflict denied ops was one of the most painful things ever.
CLARION 85: Red Dead 2 best Singleplayer Game i ever played in my Life...some people say its shi*** but i really love the game and i hope they add some nice SP Dlcs and no MP DLCs.

4) If you could physically enter any game world, which would it be and what about it makes it your ideal vacation location?
ChaosSlayerX187: Walking on one of the halo rings would be really cool.
CLARION 85: GTA5 because its amazing what you can do in this Game...they did a really good job on this one...like a real world in our life. My favourite are the Table Dances laugh

5) Which video game sidekick would you want at your side in a fight?
ChaosSlayerX187: sidekicks are for scrubs, pass.
CLARION 85: The Team/Squad of BF Bad Company because they help each other out in bad situations like brothers without excuses.

6) What is the craziest thing you've done for the sake of achievements?
ChaosSlayerX187: Having to play with Tim ; )
CLARION 85: I think everything what we do is not normal we play everyday Games we maybe dont like but we go ahead and complete the Game even if we dont like it...i wish i can play in Future only Games i want to enjoy and dont care about Achievements but back to the Question maybe Battlefield Hardline the Kills just never ends.

7) We're seeing lots of classic consoles reappearing as mini versions of themselves. Do you think there's a market for a mini original Xbox?
ChaosSlayerX187: No, there weren't that many good games on the original xbox imo.
CLARION 85: TBH i dont think so because Xbox is not that famous and we have Games ready to play from the original Xbox so i think its not gonna be worth.

8) Is there any game you've yet to acquire but really want to add to your collection? What is it and why do you want it so badly?
ChaosSlayerX187: I cant think of any.
CLARION 85: The Jackbox Party Pack (Xbox 360) and You Don't Know Jack incl. the DLCs because they are rare and delisted ive done all of them for now but i miss those 2 so i hope i have a chance to get them soon.

9) Is there one game you'd recommend that you think was overlooked by most of the folks here on TA? What about that game makes it special?
ChaosSlayerX187: his might sound crazy but I really loved the xbox 360 game bullet witch, the spells in that game were cool as hell. I've always wished they made another with a bigger budget.
CLARION 85: Idk maybe Enslaved on 360 it was a very good game i really enjoyed it every second and some people never heard about it so i say to my friends PLAY that Game.

10) Is there anything else you'd like to add?
ChaosSlayerX187: Franco I'm going to beat you in gamerscore this month.
CLARION 85: The Grind in Bomberman R never ends
