PermalinkGTASC Period 10: First time in first
A couple of shout outs before we start: I'd like to thank Fury87 and Xpovos for becoming followers as always let me know if you have any questions.

It was truly a team effort to get there unfortunately the TA scanners had an error and we missed the bonus, but we made up for it in the end with the bonus for first so life moves on.

What a week though it was the first week i went hardcore doing high TA achievements, preloading a bit, and really getting a feel for where this competition is heading. It's safe to say i can score pretty highly in a week when i wasn't home one day and worked 40 hours. Also not using any preloaded achievements and preloading some more. It was really a great way to see that i can make it far in this competition, i can say i can make it far but to actually see that i can? It puts a whole different perspective on things. So without further interruptions....

Peggle 2Aww yiss... Dat CheevThe Aww yiss... Dat Cheev achievement in Peggle 2 worth 460 pointsComplete 240 optional objectives

Unfortunately i didn't preload all i wanted to so I'm looking at preloading about 2k this week mainly because we had first and i needed a break from all the gaming i did saturday. Currently working on Layers of Fear and preloading that big one in Hawken for 800ish TA. Thats about 1600 right there.

As for the solo bonus: As you notice I'm playing those older games to keep the decay as low as possible i'm gonna go for the 4034 TA for the multiple of 2017. It's the best one as i really just want to do i week of preloading and maybe start another Rare replay game, prolly a viva pinata.

So i wanted to do something special for this blog and since only one person got back to me i guess we're talking about me:

My favorite games:
I'll give you the top 5
1) Kingdom hearts 2
2) Jak 3
3) Final Fantasy 9
4) Spyro: Year of the Dragon
5) Legend of zelda: Windwaker

Yeah i know none of those are on xbox but those are my favorite. Don't get me wrong i love xbox games as you can tell by my gamerscore, i guess i just like the classics.

What got me into achievement hunting:

I said this before i had any followers but it was really assassin creed 1 and this achievement:
Assassin's CreedSecret AchievementThe Secret Achievement achievement in Assassin's Creed worth 67 pointsContinue playing to unlock this secret achievement

I missed this the first time through and played the whole thing again just to get this one achievement and it was all down hill from there. I loved achievements and the first goal i ever had was to reach 100,000 gamer score which i did but the second goal was 250,000 (which i will have at the end of the comp). I love unlocking achievements and the sense of accomplishment that comes with it.

Where i see my life going:
I bought an engagement ring this week (why i wasn't here friday) and will probably get married next year. It's hard to show you the excitement over this blog but I'm super excited! She's the most amazing person i know and let's me indulge in this habit of mine. She's truly turned my life around.

Of course if you ever want to know more about me or more about my strategy to win this whole thing just make sure to ask. Thanks guys!

P.S I would love to make the blog leaderboards by the end of this comp so i know it's super duper annoying to ask this but I was hoping you guys could spread the word maybe you know some people who like reading this kind of thing. If not that's cool its truly an honor anyone wants to read this so i really mean it when i say thank you!

PermalinkGTASC Period 9: Back to basics
No new shout out this week, however we do have a follower question but as always I'll put it last.

We're just over 20% of the way through this thing and this blog's gonna be a little different from the rest. I might lose some followers here instead of gaining some but I think this is the most important blog I'm going to do to date.

"10,000 TA preloaded 30,000 TA to go. If I average 1k per period I will hit it before period 40" I said something like this in the previous 2 blogs. But I need to be honest with you I was only trying to preload 1k a week to entertain the 13 of you. That's not gonna help me win. Mainly due to the fact that I will get burned out. Now back before I had any followers I had a plan, now I didn't tell anyone what the plan was. But it was for me to get to the top ten while getting 20,000 preloaded TA and 100,000 Gamerscore. As of right now this year I have already gotten 16k Gamerscore and 23,000 TA.

I am going above and beyond the plan I set for myself, and I believe that's my problem. Don't get me wrong the cut offs are much higher than last year so I do have to score more than I first stated, but I can't lose sight of the goal. Now for the first time ever here's my plan:

Get every reasonable bonus
Score and preload what you can each week
Preload Rare replay and massive chalice
Preloaded bonus like 7 completions

I need to stick to this plan and this is gonna lead to some boring blogs, and I'm sorry about that but I can't allow myself to get burned out or lose sight of the goal. Now am I just gonna preload Rare replay and massive chalice? Hell no, I'm still gonna hit 40,000 by period 40, but those are the big goals and massive chalice is next. Another thing in my last blog I told you I wasn't going for the 7 1GS achievements but I did end up getting it because as stated in previous blogs I need them all to get that top 10 spot. I lost sight of needing them all I'm glad I came to my senses and went for it.

My next blog I want to do something a little different...but I'm not really sure what. It will be the 10th period blog and I had some ideas but I couldn't decide between the following two ideas:
1) Tell you about myself, my favorite games, what got me started as a achievement hunter, and where I see my life going.
2) A in depth detailed blog about how I'm going to reach 40,000 TA preloaded. And how I plan on getting all the spelling challenges and other hard challenges. Let me know in the comments below!

This blogs question:
Do you think the comp should be altered to discourage preloading?

No. Let me explain: Well for starters I really thought about some way to do this, for example you can only play one game across a couple of periods. So as soon as you pop an achievement in it you can't pop anymore after a certain number of periods. But that discourages the people who work 40 hours, have a family, or go on a vacation.

Preloading gives you the ability to stay in the competition when life gets in the way. And for that reason alone I think preloading is a necessity to this completion. It allows the causal gamer to see how far they can get, I understand it makes the competition hard to win but it helps keep everyone interested even the filthy casuals. wink

Thank you all for your time and really thanks for reading. I know it's not what you are used to but it time I went back to basics.

Thanks for reading guys it means a lot!

PermalinkGTASC 2017 Period 8: Some rare in Rare
No shout out's this week cry. O well moving on.

This period was fun. That's right I had fun, what are you gonna do about it?

I played Kameo for the first time and it was fantastic. I love 3D platformers. (Spyro is still my favriote) And was able to beat the game but unfortunately I missed 2 fruits somewhere. So I have to either beat 3 stages with an a rating or run around and try to find the fruit to get the 750 GS to get the stickers in Rare Replay. I read the guide says it takes 2 hours to check every fruit but we will see how long my first two a ratings take.

The most important thing I did this period was this:
Rare ReplayBeyond the Impossiblev CARRNAGEThe Beyond the Impossible achievement in Rare Replay worth 290 pointsBattletoads: Complete a loop of Turbo Tunnel Infinite.

Which means I'm on my way to be able to complete Rare replay. It isn't the hardest achievement on it (Looking at you frame perfect turns in level 11 of Battletoads), but it's defiantly in the top 5.

The team bonus was accomplished for us as I put up 175/440 we needed. Now my team had planned to do most of the heavy lifting but on Tuesday I had 150 achievements so they saved there achievements for later. Thanks Xbox for putting Turn On on sale!

Time for another installment of:

10 Second Ninja XWoooooooah - half way there…The Woooooooah - half way there… achievement in 10 Second Ninja X worth 247 pointsEarn 150 Stars

I know its not much and that's due to me having a ton of fun playing this game. I would highly recommend it. It had me giggling like a little school girl.

Now I know I said I was trying to preload 1000 per week. The problem this week was I tried to do to much. Between trying to preload Action Henk and DC universe online I didn't have time to finish preloading either. I know Action Henk will be done with a total of 1,926 preloaded. As for DC Universe I can Preload 2,977. Which is a grand total of 4,903.

I'm aiming to get these down across the next two weeks and hoping to have 15,000 TA preloaded by period 10.

Finally this week's bonus. I could get this if I wanted to spend $20. However I won't be getting it due to the fact that I'm poor. However I do have a plan to get the 7 achievements worth 0 Gamerscore.

Thanks for reading! Let me know if you have any questions! I'm also thinking about doing something special for period 10, stay tuned!

PermalinkGTASC Period 7: From Zhero to Hero
Shout out to Grump Zombie for becoming a new follower.
As always let me know if you have any questions and I will get back to you!

I FUCKING PRELOADED ZHEROS. Sorry it's a must for me to start the blog with this I was so happy when I did this I had a little dance party for myself. Anyway let's get into the nitty gritty.

Period 7's bonus was to double my ratio from last period. In period 6 I had a 2.29ish and this period I had a 4.75 so I was able to grab myself another bonus. Thus a have 2/3 solo ladder bonuses. I will continue to claim these without fail (unless it's one that's not worth it like the top 100 one.)

On the team side of things we now have to double our achievements from last week. We had 219 last week meaning we need a total of 438 this week. We were talking about it last night and we had 3 (including myself) saying there are going to put up 100+ achievements.

What's my plan? Time to preload some bonuses. I want to preload the 7 completions bonus this week as I have been waiting for a week to do so and this is perfect. I already have 6180 the moon and mega coin squad ready to go so this week I'm going to preload 5 more games including never alone (my list is at home I'll add the other 4 after work.). So that should give me about 70 achievements if I had to guess.

Time for another installment of:

*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

For a grand total of 4,638 TA. Holy......That puts me at the 10,000 mark. (9,938 to be exact but close enough)
So my period 7 I'm already 25% to my goal. 40,000 is becoming more of a reality with every period that passes.

Now I would have my 10,000 mark (plus a couple hundred) by far if deathtrap didn't screw me over. So the achievement for getting 3 stars on every tier four map, I planned on preloading it. So we go into the second last map we need to do and then it pops right after that even though map one only has 2 stars. I took a screenshot of it and will make a clip of it later and post it here so all of you can see. I kind of upset about it as its worth almost 500 TA but o well I think I preloaded enough this week. ;)

It was a fantastic period and once I want to preloaded another big game I'm going to do what I believe is going to be the hardest game I play this competition...

Drum roll please:

O just kill me now wink

Once again thanks for reading and let me know if you have any questions!

PermalinkGTASC Period 6: A period of frustration
As always we start with a shout out. Thanks to IgnoringFosters for becoming a new follower. Feel free to ask me any questions and I will get back to you.

What an excellent way to describe this period. I began my normal playthrough of Zheros, and it's rough. There's a clip I made of me beating 2-3 with a amount of health I can barley see. Honestly the first world was easier than what I thought it was going to be, since I am not using my gun. I'm not going to lie I even though to myself, "Man this is way easier than everyone made it out to be." But then world 2 hit. I was swearing, I was mad, and I certainly died a lot more. You guys were right it's rough. Although I know I can do it. With only 5 levels left and two bosses the end is in sight. However after the experience with the first boss I may be playing another easy playthrough for my gun achievement.
Let's move past the Zheros talk shall we?

*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

For a total of 887 TA. Putting me around the 5,300 TA mark. Finally above 5k! 12.5% to 40,000! Only in period 6 as well, we are on our way boys and girls.

My team was able to get this week's bonus pretty easily. As for this weeks bonus I have to double my Ratio. Thank God for Deathtrap.

So I had a 2.29 last week so therefore I need about a 4.6 and I can easily get it. Deathtraps remaining achievements all have a 4.0 ratio or higher (most above 5.0). So I can work on preloading Zheros and get achievements in deathtrap, this will keep my streak going and will get me enough points to be safe this week.

It's really an excellent week for this bonus as I will not be getting any achievements in Zheros. Guess it's time to catch up on some Netlfix/Hulu. (FYI Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is on Hulu)

Until next week everyone, thanks again!
