PermalinkNOT ALL YOUTUBE EXCHANGES HAVE TO BE NEGATIVE (#Neverwinter #Gaming #XboxOne #Xbox #YouTube)
I was thinking about a comment someone posted a few months back on my YouTube channel and how our exchange actually turned out positive. I don’t get a ton of comments on my channel, but most of my video comments are good. So I have tons of videos on the platform basically chronicling my adventures in Neverwinter. This one guy was looking for a specific quest, but did not find what he needed apparently. He left an all caps comment and what I had to guess was an angry post cause you can’t with 100% accuracy fully interpret someone emotions or sarcasm via text. The post was fair and it made me relook at the video and make some adjustments to my video comments. The new info I included should help others who might come across the video which now has 450 views. Along with my changes to the comments I also had to respond to the poster and I did with logical FUCKING clarifications concerning why thing were the way they were at the time of the video posting. Checkout the video for the exchange (Click the Youtube icon in the Video), I even gained a sub because of it.

I have slowed down actually playing since Anthem was released. Just doing my daily dungeons for AD and River District campaign currency farming.

Grand Theft Auto IV (57/65 Achievements)
Another achievement down. Playing has slowed down here as well. I really need to get back to this and finish the DLC once and for all. The Gay Tony DLC is just not compelling enough to make me want to go back, but I will. Hope that the Lost and the Damned is much better.

Anthem (3/46 Achievements)
Like I mentioned above I have been playing a lot of Anthem. I completed another 37 achievements since my last blog and I only have 6 left to complete the game 100%. The remaining achievements mainly consist of Javelin leveling and world exploration/collectibles. I also have a couple more weapons to polish for the Colossus.

Defiance (68/75 Achievements)
I have not even fired up this title in the last two weeks. I just dread doing incursions and not getting that luck based achievement.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamil Unlimited (6/113 Achievements)
On pause as well, but there is a challenge starting this week that I think I can complete. So I should pop in here for a little bit.

QUICK MOVIE REVIEW (Retro Review)
Hearts in Atlantis - 8 1/2
Hearts in Atlantis is a film that's reminiscent of Stand By Me and The Dead Zone, as this is another Steven King book brought to the screen. The story is about a man that is brought back to his childhood after he receives the news that one of his childhood friends has passed on. It was a time in his life that was both magical and filled with sadness. The casting was prefect, matching the main character as an adult and then as a kid. Mika Boorem is an adorable natural as she plays one of his best friends. Anthony Hopkins delivers a superb performance as an old man on the run from the government with the ability to read minds. PermalinkANTHEM IS NOW LIVE (#Anthem #Gaming #XboxOne #Xbox #Bioware)
The game is now live and we can now really sink our teeth into the title. The world is pretty expansive. It feels like it goes on forever even once you reach the edges of the current map. To be fair, it is mostly wilderness with ruins scattered throughout the world, but it looks incredible as you traverse through valleys and bioluminescent underwater caverns. If you compare it to Destiny this world is massive in size. It also feels like it can end tomorrow if one of these as of yet unexperienced cataclysm were to hit.

Your Ironman like javelin and the gunplay is a good deal of fun. From barrel rolls to hovering over the battlefield while unleashing a barrage of destruction from your ultimate weapon is pretty cool. The primer and detonate combo system is interesting, delivering a lot of damage to enemies. It has the usual assortment of weapons, shotguns, snipers, and assault weapons. There are three other javelins to play with, but I am enjoying my ranger so much that I can wait to dabble with the others. Grouping with others makes missions a lot easier, but you can go at it alone as well to really challenge yourself. This is how I am playing the game so that I can also experience the story. NPC interaction is really good. You expect that from Bioware, so I am interested in seeing where the story goes.

Freeplay which is just a fancy term for exploring the world outside the story is just as intriguing as the story so far. You can roam around the world for hours on end running into world events which you will take on with other players. Freeplay and Strongholds are public so you will always have someone with you. Although you can break away from them in Freeplay and explore on your own. For Strongholds you will need the help. All in all Anthem is looking to be a solid game which I can’t wait to get through and then see what’s coming next.

( Collection Score 4283 [+163] / Companion Score 215 [+3] / In-Game Achievement Points 5115 [+55] )
More progress on the road to 15K as my companion now has all Rank 12+ gems. My main is one gem away from having all rank 13 offensive enchantments. The new profession system also brings some slight upgrades to the armor reinforcement you can apply to your gear with the +1 versions. So I increased my rings and lostmauth set gaining 12 item level and 40 action points. Not a whole lot, but an increase in that department non the less.

Grand Theft Auto IV (56/65 Achievements)
All the achievements in the base game are done including all the multiplayer so I moved this out of MULTIPLAYER READY and into NOW PLAYING. Thanks to my boosting partner Peaches518 we got everything done in about a month, boosting 3 times a week. I started up The Ballad of Gay Tony DLC. I can't say I am loving it that much. If I had to rank all the stuff Rockstar has done, this might be at the bottom, which is still good compared to most others games. Maybe it's just me wanting to get the game finally complete. I did like how they tied in the Diamond heist from the main game.

Anthem (3/46 Achievements)
Anthem is finally here along with new adventures and level grinding. This will be the game i get to play with my old Destiny crew again.

Defiance (68/75 Achievements)
I am almost at 5K Ego level. I am playing this less and less mainly because of this elusive Kitty Achievement. At most it is once or twice a week. Also I am concentrating more on finishing GTA IV.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamil Unlimited (6/113 Achievements)
Well I picked this one back up in order to work through the story achievements. Now that Anthem is out, it surely will go back to the back burner

QUICK MOVIE REVIEW (Retro Review)
Blade II - 6 1/2
Heavy special effects drive this sequel. It does surpass the original in many ways as sequels are expected to do. The sequences seemed set up only to showcase Snipes's killing ability in a new cool way using some new high tech gadget. The vampire scare as I like to call the new threat, is a fascinating design. They are an offshoot of vampires, a mutation of sorts that is pretty impressive for a genre of creatures that's been the same for the last 100 years. The vampires are now the hunted and Blade is recruited by the head vampire to help stop the vampire scare from spreading. The plot's essence is good but the story needed more work. MR

PermalinkTHAT ANTHEM DEMO THIS FRIDAY (#Anthem #Gaming #XboxOne #Xbox #Demo #AnthemDemo)
I was able to get into the Anthem VIP demo last week and I really enjoyed it. This game has had some ups and downs in its development. Even with its technical issues in the Demo it’s starting to look like a good game. Granted there was not a lot to do, but I didn’t get a chance to explore the demo fully. I ran through the three story mission which had more story development then all of the original Destiny. It was funny, the characters where likable, and the concept was intriguing. In comparison to horrendously infamous dialogue like “ I don’t have time to explain why I don’t have time” this game will be a breath of fresh air. I was really put off by what happened in Destiny with all its cash grabbing and lies, that I was sitting on the fence with this game. It’s EA after all, but story and content trumps pretty graphics every time. With Bioware’s reputation and the strength of the VIP demo I am going to pre-order Anthem. The gun play fun, story looks to be there, and the world looks beautiful. The only thing I hated was that they shut down the servers last Sunday at 9 PM, while I was in the middle of taking down a Stronghold. Come On GUYS! Suffice it to say I can’t wait to dive back into another weekend of Anthem.

Upgraded three more Rank 12 gems to Rank 13s. Looks like some new events have arrived in the game. Starting today we have The Feast of Lanterns. An event with an Asian flare, based around the Chinese calendar. It’s the year of the Boar in Neverwinter. You can pick up a Baby boar as a green companion which gives you 750 Armor Penetration. That is pretty good just on its own. I’ll be working through the event for sure to pick this up just in case.

Unravel (DONE)
This was a cool little platformer with interesting puzzle elements and mechanics. It was challenging in the sense that it was a fun exercise and not a pull the yarn out of your head impossibility. The level designs and progression mechanics work real nice in conjunction with the diverse environments. The levels and graphics look beautiful as your character progresses its way through the world. I would recommend this game to anyone.

Defiance (68/75 Achievements)
I am in such a rut in this game. I am being held hostage by the incursions and this damn randomly awarded Lucky-Kitty achievement. That pretty much is all I am doing. I did however manage to gold another Gunslinger trial out of boredom, but I just can’t move on until I get this damn Kitty. I am also approaching a 5K Ego rating, That is almost doubling what I had when I came back to the game to work on the DLC.

QUICK MOVIE REVIEW (Retro Review)
Red Dragon - 7 1/2
Red Dragon is actually a prequel remake of an existing film called Manhunter, if you can follow that. I understood the desire to have Anthony Hopkins reprise the role and to have a cohesive trilogy. Although Red Dragon is good and entertaining it was not great. It surpasses Manhunter in areas such as production value and is able to capture some elements not in the original film. Even though Manhunter's scenes show their age, they are more memorable and dynamic. Ray Fines played the Tooth Fairy like a professional. He is brutal and at the same time you can see his human side, but his physical presence was a bit lacking and just not menacing enough for the role. TR

PermalinkCHANGES ARE UNDERWAY IN NEVERWINTER (#Gaming #Neverwinter #XboxOne #Xbox #DungeonsAndDragons #HeartOfFire)
The new module The Heart of Fire is now live and about a week old. It brought quite a few changes to the game. The biggest being to the profession system. In the past you could just set your profession for the day and forget about it while you went about you adventuring in Neverwinter. Now the profession are a lot more complex and involved and I can’t say that I really like it. I had maxed out all the profession on my Rogue, but I am dabbling with it on my Paladin which has only three or so maxed professions. Many of the items I was crafting on my alts and my Rogue were refinement items. Looks like those are now gone, so I don’t see much use for professions at the moment for me.

Other changes to the game include, Rough Astral Diamonds (AD) being bumped up to 150K from 100K. You can no longer salvage unwanted gear into AD. Instead the gear is converted into Refinement Points (RP), which I guess compensates players for the loss of the RP from the professions. My main character, a Rogue looks to have some balancing changes in this module. I haven’t made them yet since I am trying to see if there is a noticeable effect with my character as is. It’s not much as I can tell at the moment, but I do want to change my Feats to see how the changes (which look beneficial) will effect my damage output. There are some quality of life changes that are nice. You don’t have to manual hit A to pick up loot that on the ground now. Most of it is sorted out automatically by walking over it. Those are the big things that happened. A couple of people on twitter have cried out that they are breaking the game. You can’t make everyone happy. I plan on sticking with the game through the changes, over all I think it will be good.

Here are the patch notes for you to read through if you are interested:

I have been unlocking achievements here and there, but last night I unlocked one out of the blue for completing Svardborg on Master with no one in my party dying. I though for sure somewhere down the road I would end up creating a boosting session to get this done, but looks like I don’t have to do that now. This achievement also completed the DLC pack too. The new expansion is here adding 9 new achievements. I unlocked total of 5 achievements from last time and I am slowly improving my rogue. Two gem upgrades to Rank 12 gave me another 39 Item level.

Unravel (18/26 Achievements)
Clean up mode continues with finding all the secrets and not dying on every level. I’m half way done at this point. Going thru the levels again really illustrates how well the levels were designed and the puzzles are great. It’s a bit challenging getting it all done, but not impossible.

Defiance (68/75 Achievements)
One lucky random achievement done! The Huntmaster finally showed up in a Minor Arkfall. Now I just need to get lucky with the damned cat.

State of Decay 2 (64/91 Achievements)
Trying to finish up my 2nd community with my Co-Op partner, but I have no idea how much longer I need to go since I didn’t play the game for months.

QUICK MOVIE REVIEW (Retro Review)
The Last Castle - 7 1/2
Do you ever wonder why an old actor's name is taking up space in your head, but don't know why? Then you need to see this film. Robert Redford is engaging as the court-martialed general who discovers the harsh conditions at his prison. No longer complacent to do his time he matches wits in a chess like game with the jail's warden played by James Gandolfini. Gandolfini greatly respects the general, but also has an equal amount of contempt for him when his character and his heavy handed rule is put into question. When he learns about the plans to take over his prison and boot him from power the game really begins. Redford is just commanding in the role, which draws excellent performances from the cast. PC

Permalink…AND WE ARE OFF TO A GOOD START (#Gaming #Goals #XboxOne #Xbox #Xbox360 #GamertagNation)
The list have been compiled, the sites and games have been combed through. My game plan has been outlined and thus starts my year of gaming. This blog contains a quick list of goals for the year, as well as a list of GTN badges I want to unlock for the year. First up is GTA IV, I have been sitting on this game for far to long GTA. Boosting sessions have started and there is a 50 hour grind ahead of me. It should be complete by the end of February. I almost scored more points in 8 days then I did all last month. At this pace I should get to a 500 TA Score pretty easily. The next goal that is relatively close will be 250 completed games (I only need 9). The others goals will take some work.

Made some more progress in the Maze Engine Campaign. I also unlocked 10 achievements! I put a plan in place to actively gathering Metal with weekly Dragonflight events. Let the random rolls be in my favor.

Unravel (11/26 Achievements)
Really enjoying this title, I’m not even using any walkthroughs and figuring things out on my own. The music and setting is relaxing and sometime somber. It’s a well made game.

Defiance (67/75 Achievements)
Another achievement added, Ego is over 4K, but the game has come to a haunting grind. Incursions are not giving me the random achievement. Nor are the Minor arc falls producing Volge Huntmaster. Grrr.

State of Decay 2 (64/91 Achievements)
Actually played a little more today. I have been away from the game for some time and they made some changes. The hordes are actually horde worthy and really dangerous. Yikes!

QUICK MOVIE REVIEW (Retro Review)
Panic Room - 8 1/2
David Fincher has become one of those directors that you can't wait to see what he does next. This is one of the better directed films I've seen in a while. With great performances from his actors, this immensely suspenseful film has a story that is both interesting and captivating. The film's trailers gives away nothing. If anything it's a perfect set up, as it only gives you a small impression of what this movie is about. All trailers should be like this, there is nothing worse then seeing the entire film in a trailer. The beautiful use of CGI camera movements through the house adds to the suspense. This is what good movie making is all about. It's a nice follow up to Fight Club. David Fincher and company do not disappoint! TR
